Any Advice For Fishing The Occoquan Reservoir This Weekend? 2024

Just looking for some friendly advice as to areas to concertate on, Lures, colors, etc. I haven't fished the Reservoir in over 10 years, just getting back into fishing actually. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

P.s. Be renting a Boat at Fountain Head.

I went out yesterday for a few hours. We caught 6. All on cranks, plastics and a shaky head. Water was very clear. 3-4ft visibility in some spots. We saw two fish on a bed and that was it. Temps ranged from 63-68*. Hope that helps man.

I was out last saturday and it was pretty rough. 0 bass.

i didnt see any bass on beds, but water visibility was poor, less than a ft. surface temps were around 63 at 7am and recorded a high around 69.

Bring two batteries (so you have enough juice to get back to the ramp) and head downlake around the fingers and fish those coves and points. I'm assuming you're renting a jon and trolling motor? If you have an OB then forget about the two batteries. I would also hit up the point(s) and shallow wood directly across from the ramp.

Down lake has the cleaner water right now. I tried the splits last week (muddy water, nada bass for me), and mine was the only boat up there; every other boat went downlake from fountainhead.

All I could get them to bite last week was a drop shot. I caught the same 0.5 lb bass six times; 4 came off the same rocky point in little beaver. The week before was better.

Don't be too proud to throw a senko.

I may be going out tomorrow as well. Haven't decided on the Rez or the river yet.

haha. went out this morning for a few hours. caught 8. largest went just under 3lbs. we did catch one smallie which is always nice.

I was unable to make it out, unexpectant Car troubles. My younger cousin went out on Saturday, I relaid the info you guys told me and he got skunked. he either didnt listen or didnt listen LOL.

Taking Friday off from work to Fish the Res (5-24-13) Prob Renting a boat from Fountain Head or Lake ridge.

anyone Fish the Res this week and what's the pattern? First chance I've gotten to get out this year. been swamped with work and Djing weekends so Im glad to have Memorial day weekend off. Gotta start it off right by fishing Friday!! It's been about 15 years since I've fished the Res, so any advice and tips would be appreciated. Or if anyone is definitely fishing Friday morning and doesnt mind a co-angler, I'll buy drinks/gas.

Fish are all over the place. Points, grass, bluffs. A lot of smaller fish but some nice fish mixed in. Senko, creature baits have gotten bites. Buzz bait early. Supposed to be very windy tomorrow so be safe!

Yea I was looking at the weather report briefly and saw the weather wasnt going to be that great:( didnt realize it was going to be that Windy though:( Maybe I'll stick to shore fishing, since that kinda wind in a jon boat with a trolling motor seems counterproductive...*Sigh*

Yup. Lauching out of bull run early and coming back at lunch. Haven't gone in a few weeks. They still in beds or are they moving back out already? Guess I'll find out in a few hours.

Caught 6 yesterday morning. Bluffs, grass, drops, points.out here now. Teo already

yesterday did pretty good as well. Caught 20+ and largest being 4lb 10oz. I fished mostly up river, water was 65* and went to 71* later in the day. Water was pretty clear.
