I haven't been able to pick just one for any of these threads over the last few years.  Whenever I try I wind up with a list longer than I'd like.

New-2-me not long ago and headed toward the top:  Older Steez and Exsence DC.

For 2018, my favorite bc reel was my Chronarch MGL HG.  For spinning reels it was my Stradic 2500 FJ.  Even though I have higher end reels, these two get the nod most of the time and why they are on my two most used rods.

fishing user avatarPhishLI reply :

Tat SV. I wasn't sure about it at first. Now it's fantastic. Maybe it was the re-lube and it needed to break in? Maybe it was just me figuring it out? I was chucking 1/4oz minnows last night on 12lb copoly into the wind. No problemo. Good thing that I had the heavier line spooled on as it got chomped by a huge pickeral.

If for whatever reason I'm limited to just one reel, this is it.

fishing user avatarWRB reply :

It's hard to pick favorites, if I didn't like a reel or rod wouldn't use it.

I enjoy using light weight finess tackle like my original tuned Daiwa Fuego baitcasting reel on Iovino's Splash-it rod in fun combo to use, one of favorites. My passion is catching giant bass on jigs so Daiwa Tatula R100XS on my custom ALX jig & worm rods get the most use. Then fishing big swimbaits is a lot fun so the older Shimano Calcutta 250 on my custom Dobyns 8' XH rod I enjoy using. Spinning is a lot easier, Shimano Stractics on Major Craft rods are my favorite.

Now I need to get out and use them!

No buddy, I sure don't. I own a few Shimano spinning reels, but no bait casters. While I worked at BPS, I got to play with every reel we sold but we all know that's not a true comparison.

Yes, it has the shallow wiffle spool. It casts like a dream. I've never tried to cast anything under 1/4 oz., but it casts small squarebills and 1/4 oz. lipless cranks with ease.

Favorite spinning is my president that caught my first smallie.

Coolest isn’t even mine. I got a nasty birdsnest in my silvermax. My father in law handed me a combo and I caught a bass with it first cast. Turns out it was his dad’s. His coworkers bought him a Calcutta and had his name engraved on the side when he retired. One day, lord willing, I’ll own it. It’s almost too nice and meaningful to fish with.
