I just bought a 6'6' MH 1/4-3/4....... List Price $199.00 - Sale Price $79.95
Great deal. All of my fishing related budget is tied up in cash right now for my vacation coming up, or I would definitely be ordering. Wishing I wouldn't have jumped the gun and ordered a much lesser rod for the same price a couple of weeks ago, but you never know when stuff like this will come up.
Man I wish this had kicked in 2 weeks ago when I got the 7'3 check...
7'2 finesse jig, hello
Hey Grant, I was just surfing websites when I saw the sale.. I was all over it.. Made my day!

Oh man don't pass on this deal. Put it on a card.
I just grabbed a 7' ML-F spinning rod, thank you!!! They are on sale at TW for $158.88, the key word is sale and I just scored one with the shipping for less than $100!! If I didn't see these rods before I may have held back but a friend of mine has one and I really liked it but I figured I had enough but like you said, it is too good of a deal to pass on.
Great deal from a great place to do business with..
Great deal. If you sign up for their E-newsletter, you get a $25 off $100 Coupon, making it a sweeter deal.
Adding a spinning rod, looks like a great rod for the price.

7'2 finesse jig is already sold out. Other still available.
I ordered the 7'2" c-rig rod instead.
Thatta boy! Guess I got lucky lol

Got the MH spinning, might have gone M but sold out and can use MH for heavier cover.
may pick up the ML spinning rod
Outfreaking standing!!!! Just bought the 7'4" heavy football jig for 90 bucks shipped. Thanks a bunch WPC for posting this up. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a new jig/frog rod for the past month or so after breaking my previous rod. This deal took the cake.

I've been looking for a crank bait rod. I see they have 7' m, 7' mh and 7'6"mh. I can't decide which one because I don't crank a lot, but would like to. The deepest I'd use is probably a 5xd, but mostly mid depth and wiggle warts. Should I go with the 7'6" mh?

That will work, Plus you can double the rod for other baits.

Good deal just bought one for full price 3 weeks ago haha. To bad I can't return it, return policy sucks. I'll definitely be kicking myself for a while after seeing this.

Fantastic, I opted for the 6'6'MM. Sure is a great deal! Congrats.
I'm jealous...I bought a 6'10" MH earlier this year for $99. Over the last 6-8 months, I've bought 3 rods and 4 reels. I just can't get another now. My wife would flip! Would love to get a spinning and swimbait rod.

Don't tell her how much it cost. Tell her how much you saved by buying it!
Did that several times already...she's smart...she'll figure it out, hehehe.
Dick's Sporting Goods also has those Skeet Reese rods on a one day sale today (online only), 2 for $60. I would make another thread, but someone probably already did, and now they'll be sold out by the time I do it. I know a lot of people don't love those, but $30 a piece is pretty darn good.
Interesting that there are these deals popping up. I need to get some money on my credit card so I'm ready. I'd have bought that Lew's football jig rod for sure. Good for everybody who got in on them. What I really need is for a really good reel for flipping/pitching to go on sale for some ridiculously low price.
How do you know what's sold out? I put one of ever model in my cart and it let me get completely thru the order and never said otherwise.

Not a bad rod for thirty bucks. Good starter rod. You should start a thread so the guys on a smaller budget can take advantage of it.

Good question. I payed for my rod, but other than a confirmation email, nothing has shipped yet. It's only been a day though.

I'll remember your name and send you a PM on how the rod fishes. Just for future reference, in case you see it on sale again. It's going to be put to work pitching/flipping jigs here on the Potomac the rest of May and all of June.

I went back to the link where I was informed about the Skeet rod sale and it now just says, "no matches". The sale was supposed to go until 10pm EST, but they either sold out (likely) or something else went wrong.

Rod's here... Extremely well made. Excellent color and finish, Guides are sweet, Nice cork... This ones a crank bait rod, the taper is very different from any of my other rods.. I like it.
Fishing tomorrow. First cast will be with a Live Target Square Bill.

I got mine today also, a medium light, fast action spinning rod and I am super happy as I got a remarkable deal. The rod is very light and seems well made, K-series guides and they line up perfectly and the finish is exceptional as there is no sloppy epoxy work. What really makes me happy is the blank itself, it feels very responsive with a nice crisp action, this was an absolute steal!!!!
Wow, thanks for posting this!...I just ordered the 7'3" XH. Was looking for a budget 'beef' stick, looks like this will be a steal!

The guides on my caster are super sweet too. The tip is so tiny.. very cool, and like you said they align perfectly. My custom speed stick is very nice but not like this Team Rod.

Good to hear Chad.. Quite the score... You're going to be thrilled like I was. How are you doing these days?
If I was looking for a new rod I would of definetly bought one. I almost did when I first saw this just cause it's such a deal. The only HM85 I have is the swimbait rod and I have had it since they came out. They are well made and rods and I jve had no complaints except originally because of how the trigger is on that model. Now I don't even notice it. I guess maybe the semi micro guides are kind of a complaint but they are not bad. I don't think I noticed anyone mention getting that rod but for $100 it's pretty hard to beat if you looking to throw baits up to 5oz I think it is. It makes a great small swimbait rod and is excellent for top hook baits as it can really drive home a hook. Sensitivity is great and that really helps when slow rolling a 68 ect.

The American Legacy sale is the first time I saw these rods on sale for anywhere near $100, TW has them for $158.88 so if you got yours for $100 you did very well. I was wondering how that "palmer" reel seat was, the trigger is set back in order for all of your fingers to fit in front of it, I'm not sure if that would feel right for me.

I don't own one but I am familiar. For certain applications it a winner. Its all about the feel you want from a particular rod reel combine. For swim baits or cranks it may just be what you're looking for. It looks quite comfortable. Check out the video's on youtube. I've seen them.. cool beans.
I'm heading out to a lake in about an hour. Guess which rod it getting used first! I'll post a review later tonight. Going to cast an array of cranks and a few spinner baits.
If I catch anything worth taking a picture of I'll post the pic.
Leave it to fedex to screw me again.....supposed to pick it up at the facility today...oops, turns out it wasn't shipped to the distribution center and even though the center is open, the place that was supposed to send it to the center isn't open until Tuesday.
FedEx, I continue to hate you
Mine was on the door step this afternoon. Really nice rod!
I'll drag a few lizards around tomorrow.
Ya know guys...with the new rod builder introducing the custom series rods...(and the fact that the Lew's staff are completely in love with them) I'll bet the HM85's are going to be phased out. Wonder what's in store at the next iCast for the Team line? This could be your last chance to get these...keep that in mind if you're holding back reading this. Mine is the finest rod I've ever owned.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are, the new customs are amazing.
I just got home from fishing. The team rod was outstanding. This is my first cranking specific rod.
What a difference it makes. Caught 5 bass 2.5# was the biggest. Hook set was almost all rod. Never lost a fish. I did miss one hit.. My fault!
I started with a square bill in a rocky area then moved to open water and threw a rattle trap.. Bam!
A great day with an awesome rod. I want more of them...
That sucks Grant..
I'm going to try my BB1 pro on it tomorrow.
I'll post a review of how each reel feels on the rod and the differences between them over all.

6'6" Med. Mod. 1/4-3/4 Crank bait rod. It's superb! I have a Custom too, a Magnum One. Great Rod.
If ALF had a MHM for deeper diving cranks I'd buy it. Sold out...
Rob: mine is the one reviewed by wired.
6'10" MH fast
I am a shore guy, so I generally lean toward the most "all purpose" rig that I can. They stated that there wasn't anything that it couldn't do...and do well. I agree.

I was under the impression the HM85 rod American Legacy is selling is the new version that was redesigned by the same team that developed the custom series, or am I wrong? I read somewhere that the HM85 is the flagship rod and it is going to remain so, but this new design is 2 years old and with TW having a sale on them as well as ALFC blowing them out, I'm guessing the line is either going away or being redesigned again for next season.

I want to pull the trigger on another one from American Legacy, but my rod is still on the truck..... Out for delivery yesterday morning, and fedex couldn't get it to my doorstep. I want to put my hands on it before I get another. By any chance, has anyone compared that 7'3" extra heavy that's still available to the 7'9" Heavy Veritas? That would be the replacement. I have the Veritas for punching right now, but it's a huge rod, and wears on ya throughout the day. If that Lews XH was lighter, I would replace it in a heart beat.

I haven't used either rod but I would say you're in the drivers seat with the Team Rod. It's not easy to compare the two rods. You have to try them. It's my opinion the Lews Team rod is light years beyond the Veritas in all categories. I don't think you would be making a mistake to buy the Team Rod at all.. Go for it if you're throwing at least a 1oz. bait.
Otherwise consider a Lews Custom Speed Stick.. I have the Magum One. It's a fantastic rod. Call ALF and ask them to sell you one for $100.00. They are very accommodating. They have gracefully discounted a few items I bought from them this year. In fact they didn't have one of the items I wanted in stock so they ordered it for me and had it drop shipped at a discounted price. Hey they may be able to get you the Team Rod you had in mind. Only one way to find out. Call!.
I'm fishing from 3-9 today.. Gonna give the Crankin Rod another go!

If it's the crankbait rod...that's an easy answer. BB1 Pro multi stop

The Tournament is a much smaller reel than the BB1. I wouldn't be worried about the multi stop with a Lews Team cranking rod at all. I'm using my: 6:4:1 Tourney pro. The rod does what it should. Get the Tourney reel. 6:4:1 by the way ALF has Touney Pro's for $139.00 right now.
Note: I own 2 BB1 reels and a BB1 Pro... If you have big hands get a BB1 5:4:1 or 6:4:1 with ms or zero reverse. If you're in love with the Smoke get it. The rod won't care. Both reels are made in Korea. I prefer the Lews.
Congrats!!

I am not sure if it is really set back any more then a normal trigger. I didn't know the trigger was like that when I got the rod and was kinda bummed to not have the option to put your fingers different. If you try to not palm it the keeper will scratch you and its just way uncomfortable. I like instantly hated it because of the trigger I usually only full palm when fishing plastics/jigs and sometimes low resistance baits and for sure not 3+ oz baits. The first few times I used it I would pick it up and forget and split the trigger and you know instantly cause the keeper on the trigger but now I might almost like it better. It has the longer handle I can tuck and with your whole hand under the reel you can really pick up on it with force.
Thats the only round reel I had sitting around so you can see for a example

That's a David Fritts model rod. I think the palm grip makes sense. I grip my reel most of the time no matter what bait I'm throwing. My new Team Rod is does not have that grip.
My 7'6" mhm has that grip. I haven't fished it yet, but it feels comfortable with my zillion.

I don't think the 7' mm I ordered yesterday will have it? It doesn't show that grip in the pics or description. Did yours?

The rod Hatrix has is an HM85, you can tell by the dark rings in the cork, the Fritts model doesn't have that. The cranking rods above 7' have the palmer reel seat so 6'6" and 7' like you got will have the regular reel seat but if you get a 7'6" or larger it will have the palmer reel seat.

I wasn't sure what year it was. I assumed it was a Fritts. Thanks for the info.. I bought a 6'6" last week. It's a great rod.
The 7' should be here Thursday. Have you used a HM 85 7'MM?
That's the cranking model.
There are 3 versions of this HM85 rod. Spinning, cranking, and the normal casting setup. The cranking model has the set back trigger, the casting doesn't.

The 6' 6'' mm cranking rod I bought did not have the palm grip. It's very comfortable. smalljaw just explained the rod grip offerings. The 7'6" and longer have the palm grip.
I got lucky. The site showed this rod 7' MHM, # TLCC70MHM as sold out. I called and low and behold ALF had 2 left in stock. I have one paid for and in route.. Should be here Friday.
gosh, im literally drooling over hear looking at the pics. One of the benefits of living out in California, it can take about a week to get packages from the east coast, both of my rods are supposed to be here Friday. I just want to get out on the water already!!!!!
Just received a fed ex email. The TLCC70MHM is on its way here. Should deliver on Friday or Saturday.
Anyone manage to snag a spinning rod? Looking for an all around use rod for my dad, unfortunately no mediums, not sure if the mh is too stiff.

An all around rod should be an MH.
The lowest weight he tosses is a 1/4oz jig with a grub tail. Not sure a mh is favourable.

I never throw jigs with light or medium rods.

I got the 7' ML-F spinning rod, get that for your dad if they are still available. It is called a medium light but it is just Lews designation, in reality this is more of a medium power rod in my book. The rod is really nice, actually nice than what I expected and you aren't going to find guides that good an any rod of this price, if they are still available get one.

For Jigs I like a heavier rod. At the price we're getting them for I say buy two. One of each.
I called and asked if they could look to see if they had a 7" MHM left in stock since the site showed them as sold out. As luck would have it they had two.
Ask for Adam or Brian if you call. They know what's going on with inventory.
Sweet, thanks for the input. Leaning slightly towards the mh as he uses it for pike, walleye and bass. Hes a very basic fisherman and doesnt want more than one rod. According to the line ratings, he shouldnt have to big of an issue throwing that jig
I'll definitely give them a call, maybe they can help finalize a decision.

Do you think that the ML would be a good choice to throw finesse jigs 1/8-1/4 oz and small crankbaits such as the rebel teeny craw?

SJ, Post a few pics of your rod if you can.. It will give Dan an opportunity to see the rod up close.

Buy this rod before they're gone. 1/4oz jig with 1/8oz trailer will be fine.

I can't post pictures here, I use to be able to but for some reason photobucket no longer works here or I would.
No need for the pics, ive seen some online, looks like a nice rod. I believe i remembered you writing about an fenwick elitetech smallmouth, how does that compare in terms of build quality and crispness in the blank? I know its an older rod but a friend of a friend is selling a few in like new condition. Not similar in length or power, their the 6'9 m. Another option for me to consider.

You have a chance to buy a new Lews Team Rod for eighty bucks. It's a gift for your father, right? Buy the Lews. He'll be astounded and grateful.
Yes its a gift, hes coming from a cheap daiwa exceler that hes used for years with a stradic, so anything really would be a huge upgrade

I just ordered the 7' ml spinning rod! Thank you for posting this deal! Now I need a new reel haha. What size spinning reel would you guys suggest?

I picked up the MH spinning. Did not really need it and have not used it yet, could not pass up for the price. Handling it, the fast tip should help with casting and the fit and finish is excellent.

The Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth is a rod that should have been priced a lot higher than it was and I feel it is better than the Team Lews HM85 but the HM85 is no slouch. The Lews uses better guides and the blank is quality, if this rod performs half as good as it looks, it will be a winner and I'm thinking it will be awesome, I'll let you know after I have it on the water tomorrow. I think a brand new, lifetime warranty rod beats the used model but I'll tell you your dad will love it, the ML is rated to 1/2oz but I'll be it could handle it, a grub on a 1/4oz head will work great as will a grub on a 1/8oz head, it will work well in the weight range as it feel more like a medium power to me.
I got the 7'6" mh cranking rod and the 7'3" xh rod today. Decent looking rods. The reflective logo makes the rod look cheap IMO, but that's just me being picky. The guides were misaligned on both the rods. A $200 (retail) rod should have better quality control than this. But.....for $79 each I'm not gonna complain too much. Overall they seem like solid rods. Hope the performance will be better
My rod showed up today. I put a Diawa Tatula (the only reel I own) on it, and tried it out. It's exactly what I had hoped for, and I'm ready to order another. It's better than I expected. Thanks again for posting this deal.
One of mine came in today, the 7 m/m, still waiting on the 7' mh/m. Im really impressed, quality control is excellent, guides line up perfectly, and the rod feels better to me than I had anticipated, its also a little bit beefier than I would have thought too. Im taking it out this weekend and going to throw some squarebills. So far I really like it, and it feels great with a tournament pro. I wish I had more money to get another one lol

I've caught more bass in cranks than ever before.
You're going to love those rods.
Got to try out my 7'4" Heavy/moderate fast football jighead Team Lews today. And the fish were eating too. I love the rod. Very light, love the action, and it handles the fish. I was throwing a biffle head with Rage Menace with it. Wish I would have bought two!
FYI, I bought this particular rod because I was looking for a MH, but saw that it had a moderate fast action even though it was Heavy. It fishes like a Medium Heavy. So taking a chance paide off.
I took a couple of decades off from fishing and am just now getting back into it, so I apologize for the basic questions. I want to order another rod in MH, but not sure on the length. For a guy who fishes primarily from shore would you recommend the 7' or the 7' 6"? Thanks for any insight.

The 7' MHM arrived today. Same great quality as the 6'6" MM. However this one is 1/2oz-1 1/4oz MHM. The rod seems a bit soft for this rating. I'm fishing tomorrow so I'll post how things went with it.

7' should be fine and it transport easier. Take a look at the Lews rods at American Legacy Fishing. I would suggest a MHF 1/4-3/4oz or 3/8-1oz as an all around rod.
The new model by ***, Black *** Full Cork grip is also a very nice rod. You can buy them directly from 13 now for 100 bucks.
