Uso en Argentina con capturas de Dorados y Tarariras de muy buen porte.... A su dispocicion para seguir intercambiando información y si gustan imágenes de las capturas. Saludos
Q:
Which one is right handed
Answer: That’s a trick question. Depends on what’s conformable for you. I am left handed and I have to use a right handed reel. I have meet people who can use both. It’s all about what’s comfortable with you and whether you have to switch hands when casting. If you cast with a right handed reel and find yourself switching hands you probably need a left handed, visa versa. Hope this helps.
Answer: The 150 is right hand and the 151 is left hand, hope that helps.
Q:
Do I need to put a little bit of Monofilament on this spool before the braided line?
Answer: I have 3 of these and fill them all up with braid. Sometimes I use a leader, but most of the time its straight braid and it works great! Top notch reel, I love these things...
Answer: It is always good to have a mono backing with braid. Plus you save money having to use less braid
Answer: Yeah or you can put electrical tape in the back
Answer: I did not have. Tie a palamar knot and you will be fine.
Q:
Se puede usar en agua salada?

Answer: 5 (4+1)
Answer: 4+1
Answer: Read

Q:
Does this rust easily in salt water?
Answer: I would not recommend using it in salt water it because salt water will get into the mechanisms and destroy them
Answer: Got min in AUG it’s good so far I only fish salt water I do rinse them off after every trip
Q:
whats the best line to use on this?
Answer: 30lb Sufix832 braid is what I have on mine
Answer: I use 15lb fluorocarbon or 30lb braid

Q:
Need to cancel item
Answer: Go to your orders under your account to cancel
Q:
how heavy/big fish can this reel comfortably handle? Could it handle a Salmon 10-20 lb?
Answer: I’ve seen them handle 10lbs bass and I’ve accidentally hooked a 25lbs catfish and it didn’t skip a beat. I would suggest the Slx dc hg not the xg the lower speed reel will make it easier to winch in a larger fish
Answer: Absolutely. I have 4 of them and have landed 15 pound redfish with no problem. You will love this reel. Goog fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: I use it for large mouth bass, It's quite sturdy. I would think he could handle thst size fish
Q:
What’s good line for this reel?
Answer: Lots of different setups, I’ve run it with 30lb braid, I’ve run it with a fluoro leader, currently running with straight 10lb test mono. If you’re new to bait casting run mono, it’s a lot cheaper to cut out a birds nest of mono than braid.
Answer: Braids
Q:
Can I spool braided line directly on this reel ?
Answer: You can but it may slip if you get to the end of your spool.
Answer: I do not see why not. I have spooled it direct to other reels with no problem'
Answer: Yes you can. There is a place on the spool that you have to put the end of the braid into it so it won't spin on the spool when you get "FISH ON"
Answer: Yes. Works great. Mine is always spooled with Braid.
Answer: Yes but I am disappointed in this reel
Answer: No. I rap electrical tape twice around the spool for the braid to grip to.
Answer: yes, braid. fluorocarbon or mono. I have braid on mine
Answer: Yes, you may need to put a piece of tape on it for a grip. Check out YouTube
Answer: Absolutely
Q:
Which of these reels would be best for fishing with plastics like worms or lizards ?
Answer: I bought the higher gear ratio to fish crank baits and top water baits.
Answer: I like a fast ratio for worm type lures so after pitching you can burn it back to you.

is there any tention nob replacements?
Answer: Yes... you can order them through support
Q:

Answer: Any shimano reel ending in a “1” means it’s a left hand retrieve.
Q:
Is this the left hand version ?
Answer: 151 is left handed.
Answer: No right hand it’s confusing and the right hand should have the Handel on the left like a spin caster but it’s what you feel comfortable with
Q:
Description is for the svs infinity braking system which uses switches, but the dc uses a microchip. which braking system is shipped?
Answer: It has digital chip and a setting switch for weight of bait you are throwing . Great real I love it! Watch a YouTube video on it
Q:
I’m looking for the shimano slx dc 151 xg for right hand, is it available? gear ratio 8.2.1
Answer: The 151 is left handed. You want the 150 for right handed.
Q:
what does the Protection plan cover?
Answer: I guess manufacturers and defects
Q:
How much braid can the spool hold?
Answer: Find the diameter of the pound test braid you plan to use and see what the mono equivalent is. Bass pro should tell you the capacity.
Answer: depends.... What # test???
Q:
What’s the difference between the Hg and the XG
Answer: GEAR RATIO. The XG is 8.2:1, the regular 150DC 6.3:1, The HG is something in between the two, I one the XG and regular and they are amazing.
Answer: Hg is “high gear”- the 7.2 to 1 ratio
Answer: The XG is 8:1 and HG is 7:1 gear ratio.
Answer: They are both the same stay away buy something else
Q:
Is it a right handed baitcaster?
Answer: 150 is
Q:
I spin the reel with my right have which one should I get?
Answer: If you turn the handle with your right hand, choose the models which bear the number 150 (SLX DC 150, SLX DC 150 HG, SLX DC 150 XG). Have a look at this site: http://fish.shimano.com/content/fish/northamerica/us/en/homepage/Shimano_Product_Page.P-SLX_DC_1.html
Answer: The 150’s are Right Handed reeling and 151’s Left Handed.
Q:
Any idea how many inches per turn on the XG 8.2.1?
Answer: I believe it’s 32”. Id have to go look at the boxes to tell you the truth. It should be in the specs on the site. As for actually measuring it, I have not done that. I will tell you they are great for cranking and spinner baits! Your hand and wrist doesn’t kill you after a tournament cranking for fall Smallmouth! :)
Q:
Does the reel come with a cover?
Answer: No. Most reels don’t come with covers. That’s an accessory.
Answer: No it doesn’t come with a reel cover
Answer: No. This reel comes packaged in a bubble wrap bag. Also included in the box is the Shimano paperwork and a bottle of Shimano bantam oil. There is no reel cover.
Answer: no, reel, parts manual and oil. Same with the Curado DC even when purchased from cabelas
Answer: No. Just a Shimano Box
Answer: No, it doesn't.
Answer: No
Q:
What is the difference from the slx dc that's $99 here on amazon?
Answer: The SLX is $99, the SLX DC is usually $189. The DC is "digitally controlled ", it has a computer chip that monitors spool speed 1000x a second to help reduce backlashes.
Q:
Is this right or left handed?
Answer: It should say it in description
Q:
How does it work fishing saltwater
Answer: It works well in back bay fishing Fluke, Small Stripers and Blues when using light jigs and plugs. If you’re going to fish bigger and deeper you’ll need bigger and stronger gear.
Answer: I’ve been using it for months. Works fine. Just don’t dunk it in saltwater.
Answer: I have not tried it in Salt Water Works good in freshwater
Answer: It should preform well. As you know, salt water is rough on metal ! BE SURE TO CLEAN WITH FRESH WATER AFTER EACH USE!!
Answer: I’m pretty sure these are made for freshwater - not shielded to stand up to salt water.
Q:
How many lbs of braided line can you use
Answer: My go to braid is usually 50 and sometimes 40lb. They’re equivalent to 12 and 10 lb. mono in diameter. Then I tie on a 10 ft. Mono leader for top water and fluoro for under water. Pound test for these depends to the water I’m fishing. Usually it’s 12 to 15 lb.
Answer: Depends what # test braid. It will hold 150 Yards of 20# braid.
Answer: 20 lbs @150 yrds, 30 lbs. @ 135 yrds
Answer: I use 8 lb fluorocarbon on my reel. I would guess any line size braid would be fine
Answer: 30 or 40 works real well
Q:
So, are the majority of users recommending braid as a main line on this?
Answer: Seems there isn't a majority. Some are using braid with a mono or fluoro leader, others using straight fluoro. Depends on your application. It is a great reel though!
Answer: Braided line is all I use and it works great in this reel, no issues!
Answer: I don’t know about a majority. I recommend it to beginners because there is no memory and, therefore, easier to learn with.
Answer: I use brain only because I was brought up with braid. I’m sure mono works just as well if not better. Only preference.
Q:
does it make the sound. like the ‘weeeeeee’ sound
Answer: Yes, all DC reels make a distinct sound when they are cast.
Answer: Yes lol it makes the digital sound everyone loves about the DC reels
Answer: Yes, I have 23 bait casting reels and some do more than others. I think it has something to do with
Answer: Yes, It is the Digital Chip counting the spool rotation to apply breaking and minimize backlash.
Answer: yes. That is the digital compiter checking the speed of the spool. Yo will love this reel.
Answer: Yes it does and this is expected from this new gearing/ drag system
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
What is a good rod for this reel for yrout fishing
Answer: This reel pairs well with any medium heavy, or possibly a medium action rod around the (6 foot, 9 inch) to (7 foot 4 inch length.)
Answer: I paired mine with St. Croix Bass X casting rod.
Answer: i have mine on a shimano slx rod
Answer: St Croix BasX, Mojo Bass, Victory or Dobyns Fury series
Q:
What gear ratio is the slx dc? I don't see that listed or an opinion to choose right or left handed retrieve?
Answer: If description has "150" in it the reel is left handed.
Q:
What’s a good rod to go with this that’s somewhat cheap?
Answer: Shimsno sellus medium-heavy, can be found for under 40 on sale, 60 msrp.
Q:
I put 14# mono on the reel while i get used to it as i'm new to baitcasters. later if i move to 30# braid will it be easier to avoid backlash?
Answer: Backlash is more common with braid... reason people use flouro or mono to learn is because once you have a good feel of the casting and settings, it is least likely you will backlash.
Answer: No. The backlashes will become much less frequent while you get used to a baitcaster. Backlashes with braid are an absolute nightmare, way worse than mono or fluoro
Answer: the reel has setting for mono, fluorocarbon, braid etc.. I have braid, set it on 2 and have no problems
Answer: You might have less of a backlash issue, but you can always play with the brake setting and some of the casting technique to improve / reduce backlash.
Q:
Does the computer ever need maintenance or calibration?
Answer: If you get this reel, read the manual. It will tell you pretty much what you need to know. You can’t neglect. I still adjust the spool tension and have mine set on 4 for flouro and 3 mono depending on if I fish top or deep. The amount of line and dirt will affect the reel’s performance. Shimano has a good staff to maintain your reel’s performance. Me? A reel breakdown is a great excuse to get another reel.
Answer: Every year is need to be cleaned but other than that just take care of it
Answer: You do nothing but choose 1-4 depending what type line you have on. Tension nob as all normal baitcasters and drag star... the chip just does it's own thing
Answer: As far as I know it doesn’t... Iv had mine for some time fishing fresh and salt water it’s holding up well no problems to report
Answer: No
Q:
How much line does the shamano slx dc hold
Answer: How much line of what? Lol swear these questions sometimes
Q:
What does HG stand for?
Answer: It’s the gear ratio. HG is 7:2:1
Answer: High gear
Product reviews of SHIMANO SLX DC
D. Roper : Great Reel. Highly Recommended.
I love this reel. I have many baitcasters (Shimano, Okuma, Abu, Daiwa, Kastking, Piscifun, +more) and this is my favorite reel.
It’s super smooth, and the DC braking system really works great.
If you’re new to baitcasters, you can set this to ‘4’ (most braking) and cast with no thumb and get zero backlash.
I use braid, have it set to ‘1’ (lowest braking) and cast with a light thumb and it really flies.
And it looks great. Just get it already ????
Big O : #1 reel in my arsenal. Best price.
Awesome reel! Has become my go to!
Amazon Customer : Best reel under 200
Great reel best one I ever bought def worth the money
RL Vickers : Upgraded from older models
SLX DC is great reel.
Smooth action and DC breaking is definite upgrade from older mag brake.
Lefteye : Good reel for the money and excellent for a beginner baitcaster!
The DC control is excellent
Carnie85 : Awesome reel for intermediate use!
this reel is one of the best mid-grade / high-tech reels I've ever owned. Dial it in connectly and its very hard to get birds nest / back lashing.
Amazon Customer : Alien technology
Best reel in this price range. Super smooth. Like buttah. Dc breaking is like alien technology.
Irby : Great product and service
Very innovative fishing reel. Got it on time. Thanks
Daniel : Good reel
Bought one and it’s amazing.
Mark Allen : SLX DC
This is a lightweight reel that is powerful and sports a very smooth drag. Most people will be attracted to it's breaking system that virtually eliminates backlash giving one more time fishing and less time undoing knots. I highly recommend this reel to a beginner but also useful to people wishing to throw light baits on a conventional set up.
Jesse : Love this reel. Don't think I can ever go back to a non DC.
Love.love love this will never go back to a non DC reel.
karl : I recommend
Took me a sec how to set the brake but once that is set you are smooth casting. I have the real matches up with aokuma TCS rod. Now I am thinking of purchasing other Shimano DC reels.
John : Wish it was a little more forgiving as described with backlash
It’s amazing how many bird nest I’m still getting while typically throwing a gold spoon with 12 lb mono. I can’t set the breaking past 3. The videos I watched before purchasing were throwing it hard as they could with no thumb on setting three with not a single bit of backlash so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or what is going on. Can anybody tell me how much spool should be visible with the line on it. 1/4”? 1/8”?
Amber : Great Reel
Everything the description said, came early and he loves it. Ordered the next one up I think this is his new brand.
Big Tee : Great reel
Reel is amazing. Cast very far and can handle various weight without adjusting. Definitely would recommend this for any angler.
Gary E. : If you do get a bird nest they come out no problems
Once you set it up it's amazing.
Charley : High quality
I bought this a Christmas present and he loved it. Says it works like a charm.
justin : Workhorse
My new favorite reel! Feels good in the hand, smooth retrieve and casts great! Will be getting a few more as needed for different applications.
Chris Hill : buy this reel!
great reel, yes you can backlash it but its not as easy to do it. Cast a country mile, would buy another.
Anna V. : Love it

This reel is absolutely worth every freaking penny!!!

Magela t. : Slx dc
I liked it but it’s a lil expensive
D. Pollard : Worth every penny...
Great reel. Had some hiccups at first. Got it tuned and now I love this reel. You can turn it to 4 and just bomb it and not even put your thumb back on the reel and the dc brakes fight off the back lash with ease.
RL Vickers : Upgraded from older models
SLX DC is great reel.
Smooth action and DC breaking is definite upgrade from older mag brake.
Ourlittlesmithfamily : stop looking and just buy
GREAT reel use it 90% of my fisshing times now!
Michael O. : Awesome
Fast service and great product
Amazon Customer : Great value
Great reel. Smooth casting and retrieving
Jon P. : By far one of the best DC reels for the money. Works just as well as my curado dc reels.
Amazing reels, can’t go wrong with any shimano dc reels. But for the money, these are incredible. I now have 3 of them and 3 curado dc reels. They can keep up with my curado dc reels.
customer : slx dc reel
getting ready to try it out tomorrow
Amazon Customer : Well worth it
My first DC reel. Way better than I ever expected. So efficent while casting searching for fish on those windy days.
Andrew J. Stlouis : Perfect for the Spin-to-Baitcast transition
It stinks that this is the perfect "learning baitcaster" because its not in the entry level price range. But man oh man did this make going from spinning reels to bait casters so much easier. For a while, i would bring my baitcaster and two spinning rods on my kayak. Id use the baitcaster until i got a huge birdsnest that i couldnt clear then switch.
With this reel, i finally could make it a full day without getting the dreaded birdsnest. I could finally plan on using this rod the whole day without having to switch out due to my own learning curve.
This is the perfect reel for someone interested in making the switch. It takes a financial commitment but now i find i can use the cheaper, more birds nest prone baitcasters with minimal issue. I'll continue to improve with the baitcaster but the SLX gave me the confidence to stick with my baitcasting rod for the whole day amd no longer bring my back up spinning reel setup.
jeffery Fountain : Super smooth
Great reel for beginners up to experts !!
Gary E. : If you do get a bird nest they come out no problems
Once you set it up it's amazing.
Fred C. : Smooth as silk.
Works as advertised. Will probably order another one. Thanks for a good product.
fabiana Vassallo : Top of the list
Excellent item it over satisfied my expectations
Ricky Long : I do plan on purchasing another DC reel.
I decided to get back into bass fishing fter 30 years of not doing so. This Shimano has fit the bill Almost perfectly. If I had any cons about the reel it would be the drag. I wish Shimano would beef up their drag To at least 18 to 20 pounds drag. With that said I would still give it an A —
Danielle Bowman : Beat reel I have owned to date...
I have been waiting to get this reel and I am glad I did. It’s super easy to cast, light, smooth, and hauls in the Bass. Paired it with a 7’ MH rod.
Bruce Taylor : reel
great reel
Nicholas martinez : Best reel I’ve ever had
I love this reel I’m going to buy two more I’ve been using it for a weightless fluke and it cast like a dream
Greg Fast : Can not give a review
It was stolen from my front porch!
LoveThatDirtyWater : 09/2021 Update: Complete garbage! Drag broken after 3 weeks of use.
I am a Pflueger baitcaster guy all the way… that being said, I bought into the hype of the DC casting super far and the cool sound. I don’t like using spinners and I generally like the fight and toughness a baitcaster gives when fishing for bass in heavy cover.
I watched a ton of videos and played around with the reel to get the setting right where I like it and feel confident in my casting abilities with this reel. Generally D-2 with a good tension set with a slow drop will give you the best casting without any backlash and hands-free casting. With D-1, it’s like casting a regular cast (thumb/feather as you cast and drop).
D-3/D-4 is really for beginners who are learning how to use a caster. Don’t bother if you are experienced and you won’t cast far at all.
Overall, depending on what I’m using for a lure and the weight, I can wing this baby and it’s as good as advertised. Worms, it’s not bad of your using weighted but weightless it’s average at best for distance.
In conclusion, if you’re like me and you hate spinners and like to use baitcasters for every application, it’s not bad. But if your experienced with baitcaster, I would say this is on par with my rigged up Pflueger Supreme XT (which I do have to feather when I cast).
9/2021 Update: So... the drag just decided to go on this for no reason. I have had more issues with this baitcaster than any other that I have ever owned. Definitely going back to my Pflueger Supreme XT!
Maybe, MAYBE if your a novice and you only want to cast using D-4 this is for you, but I prefer to go back to my old setup, which is more reliable.
Eileen Collier : Eww
I got this for my husband not what it said
Chris : I just really appreciate you guys!!
Haven’t really used the reel yet but I just had to give a review, I just couldn’t wait!! Thank you guys/employee, you guys work so hard!! Sorry Not that good at reviews or anything but thanks so much!!
merlin : fantastic reel
Got my girl friend to try it out. She has never fished with a bait caster but after about 5 cast, she was chunking it as far as me and no backlash. Except for the whine, an absolutely the best reel I have used in my 60 Yrs of chunking.
Chamong Lor : Reel
Awesome. Love the sound when you release the line. Works great with my rod too.
