Answer: I would say yes, except for the handle. When I got the reel, I caught a decent size smallie. As I was reeling it in, the handle came apart. However, with that being said, once I replaced the handle, with a decent one, I have had no problems with it in brackish water and fresh water. When I inlude the cost of the reel and new handle, I feel like I have a solid set up and come in less than other reels.

The crank handle fell off my reel after 2 days of very light use- do these have any sort of warranty on them?

Answer: Mine came off in shipping and at least 2 other times when it was in my boat, luckily I found the screw each time and I put it tighter each time, perhaps you lost the screw, you could get a new screw at a local hardware or take one from a seldom used reel, its a pretty good reel but I don't know about the warranty

Answer: This is a common problem with the new reels it happens sometimes just make sure you tighten up the handle tighten up everything if it comes loose get a hold of Amazon and send it back I wasn’t impressed by it I got rid of mine hope this helps

Will this hold 20-50 pound test braid?

Answer: This reel is rated to 18lb mono. So if your looking to put mono or flor on this reel at 20 - 50lb the T6000 will not hold much line. However, braided line is a completely different story. Depending on the brand you can put up to 65lb of braided line on this reel. With that high of the pound test I believe you will have other issues like the drag but I am using 30lb braid now with no issues. The line diameter is what you truly need to look at and top for the T6000 is .45

Is this really a 12+1 bering reel, I have bought in the past and there has not been even close, can you outline in the reel where each of the berings?

Answer: I don’t know where the ball bearings are exactly but what I can tell you is the reel is not too sturdy, I had a six pound snapper on a few weeks ago and it basically shut down and would not wind, the handle came apart and I ended up hand landing the fish, spend the extra dollars on penn reels it’s worth it.

WB : Great reel watch the size chart.

Only getting 4 stars because the size chart will have you buy the wrong size, however the reel is supper smooth and feels great in my hands. Just wish I would have went with 2 sizes smaller. The one I got is more surf still or catfish size and the one I wanted was for bass fishing.

For $40, how can you go wrong? I'll tell you. This reel lasted precisely 1.5 fishing trips, before it fell apart irreparably. Unfortunately for me the second trip was 6 weeks after the first and 2 weeks after my return window closed.

I bought 6 of these reels and they come out of the box feeling like a much more expensive reel and they look amazing. however The reel handles flip over for storage and the locking mechanism that prevents them from folding is not machined well so 2 of the 6 reel handle would not lock and would fold up while reeling. I mostly fixed this by tapping the locking mechanism roughly with a hammer. but when you crank hard on the handle it would fold up on you from time to time still. the reel handle knob covers also tend to fall off frequently.

The big problem is WATER. They rust like CRAZY. 4 of my 6 reels got rained on for the first time (a very normal and harmless event for reels usually) and when I went to use them next day the gears had rusted so badly the handles would not turn with out tremendous effort and some have completely seized up. All the reels that got rained on are completely useless now. Even my kids spiderman reels and the cheap reels that you buy for $10 at Walmart can handle being rained on and occasionally dropped in the water. I currently own about 130 fishing reels and I have never had any other brand or model seize up just from rain. This isnt a one-off problem or a missing feature. these reels are just not designed for normal outdoor use around water.

After reading the intitial review I left (still included below) the seller personally reached out to me to resolve the issue. They replaced the reel at no cost to me.

The replacement does not exhibit any of the previous drag problems and is functioning quite well.

My new rating is 5 stars based on the company's customer service and overall value for the dollar. Are there nicer reels than this? Absolutely. Are you going to find a better one in this price range? Not likely.

I'd love to be able to rate this higher. I bought the 1000 model. It's a beautiful looking reel. It's larger than you would expect- it's closer to a 2000 in Shimano sizing.

The big problem is the drag. When I first got it the drag was completely locked up. I loosened it until the spool was flopping around and still couldn't pull any line. I eventually broke it loose by turning the spool by hand.

After getting the drag unseized, I found out that it is extremely erratic, meaning if you loosen it 3 clicks then tighten it 3 clicks you somehow don't get back to the same drag setting. Tonight I had the drag set where I wanted it, but had to tighten it 5 clicks to pull free of a snag. After I freed my line I loosened it 5 clicks and the drag was nowhere near where it was set previously. I've had to get in the habit of rechecking the drag every few casts.

I was skeptical at first ordering a fishing reel on line. Usually I will go to Walmart, Get a mid range reel and if I dont like it I can return it in 30 days. This reel advertised with 12 ball bearings, 1 roller bearing and it was beautiful. So for the price I could,nt go wrong. I bought it for Saltwater surf fishing and its absolutely perfect. I wont be going to Destin until next week and I cant wait to use it. Its smooth as silk , solidly built and I paired it with a 9 foot bass pro shops surf rod. I ordered the 5000 which is perfect for Bluefish, Drums, Sea trout and pier fishing. I will post pictures in 2 weeks but believe me, This is the best reel you will ever buy for the price....

I love the look of it and it seems decent enough for the money but the reel sticks every 2-3 turns. It should be nice and free spinning but it just isn’t. I even took it apart and oiled it with fishing reel oil and it didn’t fix it. I may order another one and see if it’s the same or if this one is a dud, and then return this one if so.

Short answer: really decent. Whines a bit when pulling in fish above 10 inches.

Long answer: I have caught rockfish, perch, spot, croaker and bass with it and I've had it for a month. Perfect for small fish and a 6' pole. I use braid and can cast decently far with this. Farther than my 8 foot with nylon. Recommend for anyone perch fishing. I use typically the "Johnson beetle spin" from Walmart and catch a fish almost every throw when they are biting. The real casts about 25-30 yards with an 1/8 ounce beetle spin on a 6 foot pole.

Handle end keeps unscrewing so I glued it. Then reel was used once then it started making a grind noise. It works but not smooth. I got to take it apart and figure it out I guess.

The reel arrived disassemble The handcrank assembly was not attached to the reel. Thumb slide and pin we’re in the bottom of the bag trying to figure out how it attaches. I think it’s a poor design it should be one solid piece. Now I have to go through the steps to return it for a refund.

The handle snapped while reeling in my first fish. I had to hand line the fish in the rest of the way. I got so mad that I had to stop, because I didn't bring any other reels. Out of anger, I broke my fishing pole too.

This is my 2nd burning shark reel but the first T1000! It did not disappoint. I put 6lb test on this reel and an ultra light rod. Pan fishing was amazing with this setup. Then I wanted to see it’s limits. I then upgraded the line to 10lb mono and the rod to a more bass like setup. It was even better using as a bass fishing setup. I was able to bring in a 3lb bass with easy. T1000 has become my favorite finesse fishing setup.
