Amazon Customer : Wouldn’t buy again
Definitely not the late 80s early 90s 808 + 888. In comparison the newer reals don’t even compare. They’re not as smooth casting, don’t cast as far and make noises during reeling. Both of mine do it! Not happy with them

Though the fishing reel seems very sturdy, it is actually so large, and heavier than one would guess. Need to return it if possible? Sorry I have had it quiet a while. I just never hassle to return things. Could I? Or preferably exchange it for one much a bit smaller, and a lot lighter. I never return things but this guy is just too big, lol.

Typical Consumer : Not your child's fishing reel
Many people associate Zebco fishing reels (especially those sold as combo reel/pole sets) as primarily for children and I admit that's what I has when I was a kid. That being said the products were always reliable and easy to use. This is definitely not a child's reel. This is a very well made, very smooth operating reel. Designed for 20lb test line it is slightly larger and heavier than what one would use for sunfish. It casts easily with the press of an ergonomically placed button and has an easily adjustable drag. The process of reeling in very smooth. This reel also comes equipped with a bit alert - this allows the line to play out with modest resistance when a fish takes it. During this process the handle turns and it is clear that a fish has taken the bait. A simple turn of the handle and it locks in and the retrieval begins. Vey well made of a durable and solid plastic housing, this should last a very long time.

We have always fished with Zebco reels. Our all time favorites are their 33's. We were surprised when we received this one! It's huge!! It's also heavy. I was needing a new reel for my rod. This one is too heavy for me. I am 68 years old and a woman. I need something lighter. My husband likes this one though. It holds up well for him. It casts easily and reels back in without any problems. It's smooth. We trust the Zebco name. The only reason for taking off one star is for the size. Works great for catfish, though.

Parks N' Tech : Easy to Use/Setup, Well Made, Sturdy Yet Lightweight
This is a pretty nice fishing reel for the price! First off, it feels nicely made and doesn't feel cheap. It is very easy to setup and use - I am no fishing expert by any means and I was able to figure it out with no issues. The reel itself works as it should and I have been using it for quite some time and it is still functioning like a charm. I caught quite a few fish with it, so I am happy! All things considered, this may not be for everyone, but for me, it has been doing its job very well and I am quite pleased.
