Questions about Cadence CS7 Spinning Reel, Ultralight Aluminum Frame Fishing Reel with 10 Durable & Corrosion Resistant Bearings Super Smooth Powerful Fishing Reel Spinning with 29LBs Max Drag & 6.2:1
Q:
should the bail only open when its at the top of the spool, near the handle?
Answer: No it can be opened anytime , Make sure you close it manually . It will close by turning the Handel but in time will mess up .You just want to open the bail when the line is down so you can get it with you pointed finger
Answer: No -
Answer: don't recall ,first reel the bail broke off asked for replacement part was told didn't have parts and sent me a new reel ,it lasted about 3 mos bail broke off of it . contacted cadence gave me a full refund.SO good luck
Q:
how can i get a replacement handle for my cs7?
Answer: Not sure about the handle.
Answer: Check with distributors
Q:
anybody having issues with braid to leader knots going through that skinny little eye at top
Answer: I run about a 10-12 foot 12 lb flurocarbon bumper off of 30 lb braid with no issues. I use a double uni knot.
Answer: There is no skinny little eye on top . If you talking about the Rod then the little hole is a hook holder
Answer: Yes
Q:
Where is cadence made?
Answer: China. Very well made reel.
Q:
Is the pinion gear brass or aluminum?
Answer: The pinion gear is aluminum.
Answer: frame is carbon composite. rotor and silde plate reel aluminum.Would like to add they are replacing the reel I don't know about the gear.
Q:
Will these reels stand up for 2-3 seasons on freshwater fishing charter boats?
Answer: Yes. Very good quality. Cast metal handles are a wee bit fragile. I snapped one....then another. I did fall with the reel though. Cadence sent me replacement parts quickly . No charge
Answer: I only fish saltwater but have had no issues.
Q:
i have the cs7 in 1000 size and it wont fit on my rods , even the ultra lights , do the larger reels have a bigger reel foot ?
Answer: Yes, the larger reels do. I fit my 1000 reel on my light rod by adding small shims at the front.. Have had no issues
Answer: What rods are you trying to mount the reel on? I’ve had no trouble putting any of the reels on any brand rod as the foot is the same as any other brand.
Answer: I have the 1000 size and it fits my Lew’s reel seat ok.
Q:
is handle reverable left to right
Answer: yes it is. just like most newer reels
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Would the 2000 model be considered ultralight reel?
Answer: Not Ultra light. Works well 8 lb line. 1000 is ultra light
Q:
Looking at cs6/cs7 to match with 6'6" carbon rod. i own a cs8 4000 reel, but i'd like something a little smaller. 2000 or 3000?
Answer: The 2000 and 3000 are the same size. However, the 3000 comes with a larger spool and has an extra 1-3lbs of drag power depending on which reel you get. If you have a lighter action rod, then the 2000 will be a better fit. If not, the 3000 is the way to go.
Answer: I have the 2000 & 3000 and there is little to no difference in size and weight. The 3000 will give you more line and drag capacity - so it’s your call. What action rod? Lighter rod I would suggest the 2000.
Q:
Are bearings made in Japan ?
Q:
Is this reel made in the USA?
Answer: nope
Answer: NO
Q:
What is the purpose of the rubber band that comes on the spool?
Answer: My Cadence reel didn't come with a rubber band on the spool. I used to use a rubber band to keep the line from unspooling when I wasn't using the reel. Now I just use the line holder on the side of the spools. If you are referring to something else that I haven't noticed on my Cadence reel...maybe it has something to do with the reel being braid line ready.
Answer: The rubber part on the spool enables you to tie braid directly on the spool without putting in mono backing on the spool first!
Answer: It keeps braided line from slipping if you don't use backing on the spool.
Answer: To tie braided line directly to the spool
Answer: That's for braided line. Stopped line from slipping.
Product reviews of Cadence CS7 Spinning Reel, Ultralight Aluminum Frame Fishing Reel with 10 Durable & Corrosion Resistant Bearings Super Smooth Powerful Fishing Reel Spinning with 29LBs Max Drag & 6.2:1
Joseph J. : Very nice reel
Smiles smiles smiles love this reel with 2 lb test
George l : Great value
Seems to be a great reel for the money
Roy Roath : real review
I spent several days on the water immediately after receiving the reel. It reels quite smoothly. But, it is quite rough/resistant to closing the bail after casting.
AD : Nice when new, but gets sloppy under a season of moderate use
By year 2 it was literally trash. Gears out of alignment, unbalanced. Super finicky- needed constant maintenance. Really just not worth it. There are so many better reel for this price - daiwa legalis LT is a home run. Okuma avengers or even alaris. I’m never buying ANYTHING from cadence again. Great when absolutely brand new but falls off a cliff way too fast
Had mine over a year and was primarily a backup for FW and inshore salt. It felt like 4 stars the first few months but has gradually become sloppy and unbalanced. rotor wobbles, line lay got progressively uneven and when you add or remove shims the drag clicker stops making sound... so you deal with the uneven line lay. It's a nice looking reel and has aluminum body which is strong and I prefer over magnesium or graphite frames for saltwater. I'll keep using it til it ultimately breaks, but will stick with Daiwa (BG, Fuego, even Laguna LT) and Shimano in the future
Amazon Customer : Good forecasting good for trolling
I used it all summer long and it works great worth the money
Benjamin Culbreth : which was very easy. Overall
The reel came packaged simply was essentially ready for use right out of the box. Being a lefty I switched the reel handle immediately, which was very easy. Overall, the action is very smooth. It has a nice weight to it, making it ideal for bank fishing/travel situations. It should balance out well with most rods. The finish and design has a very high end look to it. Compared to others in the market, it looks like $100 plus reel. Excited to see how it performs under different challenges. Definitely will be looking at other products in this line after a great impression by the CS7.
Amazon Customer : Excellent
Excellent reel for the money
mac : poor quality
purchase on mar 3 2018 lasted 6 mos bail broke off. Is of poor quality do not want for bass fishing. May be ok for pan fish Mar 10 2019 . they have a big problem with this reel . sent me a replacement reel same thing happed bail broke off same spot . they have a mfg. defect problem .I only fish one day a week and have half dozen rods and reels so it is not getting beat up. I have a reel from wal mart at less than half what this thing cost.I have used twice long as these two.
john r. : SMOOTH
Smooth as silk
Samuel a. : Y is it stiff first time this happened to me please help
Why is my reel stiff it does not spin or anything on its own it doesn’t make any grinding noise it just does not spin good is that a defect or do I have to have it greased up I was just wondering do I need to lube it up so it’s not stiff I would like to get some feedback on this because I just got the reel and I just wanna make sure I do what I need to do to not mess it up
Amazon Customer : The 4000 size is perfect for all manner of inshore fishing
The quality of this reel is superb. Everything about this product exudes the quality found in much more expensive reels. The 4000 size is perfect for all manner of inshore fishing. The action is smooth and the reel is reasonably lightweight.
Princeps P : Wow!
The action in this reel is amazing, very smooth. I am extremely happy. The price is right as they currently have 30% off. I am going to by a second one for sure.
Carroll e. Greene : Good product as advertised

blandkrohn : Good real
Reels is a good value for the money, smooth reeling and casting like more expensive reels but costs less!
callipso17 : Very good Saltwater reel
Have caught Snook, Sheephead, Jacks, Speckled Trout, Ladyfish, Pompano, 5 nice Reds and other varieties of Salt and brackish water fish on this CS7 3000 by Cadence. Mounted to a Med light 7 ft rod with 15lb braid and 20lb fluorocarbon leader it preforms really well. Ocean to River to golf course pond, boat or surf jigging this Mid 40 dollar(on special) reel works better now then new. I have no worries about giving it a heavy flushing off after use. We have 2 and are not overly easy on our gear. Had the spools off many times and all looks and feels as it should. If there is an issue down the road I will report back but at this point its all thumbs up.
Jimmy Brasiel : Awesome reel
Very good reel
Cadence : If strength and cost matter get the CS7
It has performed well. No frame flex. Smooth. Weight great for an aluminum frame.
w.c. : Made grinding noise
Returned it due to a grinding noise when reeling.
Ray Maramara : Now I understand the "Lightning Deal"
This was offered at half the listed price as a not to be repeated deal. After checking the movement and smoothness, I now understand why. I ordered this with 2 other reels costing a third of this one and they're far superior IMHO. Perhaps the build quality and performance durability will prove my judgement wrong. We shall see after I take it out and see if it catches more fish!
G. Gorman : You get a lot for your money.
I bought the CS7-3000 for bass and walleye, I have it on a CR5-701S-MHF rod. A lot of quality for what you pay. I also have a CS6-3000 on a CR5-661S-MF and have no complaints. I will be buying more Cadence gear.
Carroll e. Greene : Good product as advertised

nolan : VALUE
bought the 1000 and then decided with the discounts and agreeing with the good reviews that i would go for a larger size. i do have some $200 plus reels and these reels are just as smooth. for the price i cannot believe the line lay compared to the bicycle maker
Kindle Customer : Numero Uno fishing reel
Just a real nice little fishing reel. Very smooth.
Inform : Move over, KastKing. New Sheriff in town
*Update* 11 Nov 19:
This reel might actually be getting smoother with time. I have had some 12-18 Largemouth Bass days on this 3000 and ZERO issues so far. Drag pulls smooth and linear. I purchased another one in 1000 size for trout and a CS8 for comparison. This CS7 has been a workhorse. Looking forward to my one year update.
*UPDATE*
23 AUG 19: My only regret is only buying one of these during the promotion. This reel was already smooth out of the box, and has progressively gotten smoother with use. It is now on it's 16th outing and feels better everytime I use it. I have the 3000 size spooled with 30lb braid with a 12lb Yozuri Hybrid leader for throwing anything from weightless flukes, 1/4 oz shakeyheads, or 3/8 Texas rigs. It's a shame there are a lot of reports of false reviews on this product, because it it excellent and has ZERO FLEX in the body during a fight with a bass or even if you are snagged. This is a steal during promotional pricing.
8 Aug 19: If you are looking at this product, you may be looking at another budget friendly model like Kastking. I'll compare this to the KK Summer 2000 model.
Materials: The CS7 materials are light, strong, and seem well balanced. The KK Summer has taken a beating this last year and has held up fine. The edge goes to Cadence for materials used.
Smoothness: Both Cadence and KK have buttery smooth casts and retrieves. One downside that Cadence is looking into is a subtle rubbing sensation when the anti-reverse is engaged on the CS7. When anti-reverse is off, both reels are equally smooth. Slight edge to KK.
Value: The CS7 is a more premium level reel ($70) than the KK Summer ($35), which makes it an unfair comparison in some aspects. That being said, the extra cost seems to go into the stouter bail and more precise drag of the CS7 over the KK. Slight edge to Cadence.
Cost: KK hands down ONLY ON THE SUMMER/CENTRON models.
Weight: This is where Cadence shines. My CS7 3000 is almost two ounces lighter than the KK variants. Goes along with material choice. Edge to Cadence.
Customer Support: Cadence answered my email within a couple of hours and treated me like the CEO of the company. Solid edge to Cadence.
Overall winner: Cadence.
The have won over my dollars with their sincerity, honesty, and value. I think their CS7 needs an update to the slight friction feel of the anti-reverse, but so far I am impressed. Also check out their CB8 baitcasters over KK if you value smoothness, weight, and durability.
One note: Cadence website and Amazon listing have conflicting information on gear materials.
Tumbleweeds : Right out the gate...
Skeptical on new company, reviews were great so pulled the trigger on the 30. Well built. A little heavy but super solid, smooth but a little sluggish on spin, heavy grease I think. Anyways..don't be afraid its a awesome reel. VERY FIRST fish I caught in it was a accidental 12.5 pound carp. Seriously..and it was exceptionally pissed off. Long fight, many big runs and the reel was PERFECT, get one!
George l : Great value
Seems to be a great reel for the money
Jimmy Brasiel : Awesome reel
Very good reel
michael : I definitely recommend this product
Does the trick may buy another one
Michael A. Hayes : Favorite Reel
These reels are a great value, all of my reels are Cadence reels but I believe this is my favorite and their Customer Service is fantastic!
James S. Middleton : Great smooth quality reel
Packed well, double boxed. Protects from shipping damage. Smooth operation, casts easily. Fits very well on my 7’2” Cadence CR7 rod.
The handle does not go the cheap route but instead is fully threaded. Makes for a very positive feel between the large EVA knob and the reel. While the more expensive CS8 adds magnesium body its not like the CS7 is heavy. The aluminum is plenty light. Not sure I could justify more money for JUST the magnesium body.
Its not just smooth its responsive. Very easy to control lure/bait speed. I have the 4000 because of fishing bigger catfish and stripers. But gotta tell you sure am thinking about a 2000.
Edit: Well didn't get a 2000 but did just order a 3000. When we fish for bigger stripers we use 12lb test. The 2000 was a just a little small. Its going on my CR5 7"0" I already own. The CS7 went on my CR7 7'2" rod.
Amazon Customer : Smooth
Have only used it once. But it performed awesome. Smooth retrieve. Have it paired with a cadence rod and am very happy.
shawnna mckelvey : Not made well
Broke
808 : Doesn't last long, extremely poor quality.
Worked well the first 3X, but after that it started to stick and after a few more times, it completely froze.
Javier : Not sorry!
Smooth, sturdy build quality and overall a great reel. Better than expected. I would definitely recommend the cadence reels to anyone.
Amazon Customer : Excellent
Excellent reel for the money
Amazon Customer : On time and undamaged
Haven't used it yet but it arrived on time and undamaged. Seems solid and well built. We'll see how it holds up to the saltwater.
Rick Robinson : So Far So Good, out of the box is has NICE quality
So Far So Good, out of the box is has NICE quality.... I haven't had a chance to take it fishing yet.
D. Chryst : Love it! Right out of the box
Love it! Right out of the box, I knew I was going to love this reel. It was well packaged, and the line was easy to put on. When I used it at a pond, the reel functioned smoothly and the drag was great. The casting distance was excellent as well as the speed of reeling in. I am very excited about using this reel for both local ponds and salt water fishing since I live near the coast. This is my new favorite reel of my inventory and I will continue to shop Cadence Fishing products.
Austin H. : ... of the box and it seems to be a good fit for me
I just pulled it out of the box and it seems to be a good fit for me. It looks as if it will be a great product based off of other research that i have done. The reason why i gave it a 5 stars is because even though i have not used it on the lake, i have seen many different types of reels. This reel has been thought out and well built. I hope you enjoy this as much as I will
Adam p. : Five Stars
Great quality at affordable price. Cadence has excellent customer service as well.
Nicholas Brem : Broken
I received the reel, (ordered new), and it was hard to turn. So I packed it up to bring it back and on the bottom of the box was a piece of Christmas wrapping paper. I can't believe I recieved someone else's return. Shame on whoever is responsible for this.
