Can i use this reel for saltwater?

Answer: Bought two, 1st time I used it the adjustment knob kept falling off and finally it went overboard. The second reel, the drag is always tight, star is all the way out and there is about 10lbs. Of drag at the lowest adjustment. Tighten the drag a little and it locks up. Wrapped pliers around the line, pulled and snapped 30lb. Braid. But they were brand new so saltwater didn’t have anything to do with the failures.

Just purchased 8 new reels and went fishing with them. They worked great and caught fish on all of them. Found to frag was extremely smooth and the reels good quality for the money. Drags tend to come a little loose at times which I can live with occasional adjustment. The reels look absolutely beautiful. My only concern would be how to receive service in the future but with a 6 ball bearing system And the quality they should work great for many years. My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make the clicker button tighter as it tends to move out of the clicker position.
Over all the reels have worked really well.

Reel looked great out of the box. Made some pratice cast and set out fishing. My first fish on this reel was about a 2lb catfish. The handle would turn but not the spool. I tightened the drag and tension. I had to roll the spool with my thumb. I never seen such a bad reel in my life. I think a zebco 202 could do better.

After reading some of the other reviews with higher praise, I think I may have simply received a "lemon". I had high hopes for this reel when I first received it, although I did notice that some of the handle/knob parts seemed a bit plastic-like and the handle assembly didn't seem to be screwed on straight (Perhaps cross-threaded during assembly). Well, as it so happened, the first time I used it fishing, one of the plastic-like knobs ended up snapping off when I accidently dropped the rod & reel assembly. I shook it off and continued to rig it up to fish. I proceeded to cast it for the first time and it refused to cast even though I had it in "free spool mode". The inertia of the cast broke my 20lb. mono leader and all the tackle and bait went flying with it. The same thing happened maybe three casts later...it for some reason locked up and sent my leader flying into oblivion; except this time I had the worst "bird's nest" I've ever had to contend with. I ended up having to cut all the braided line off of the reel. I originally gave this a one star review due to my frustration, but will upgrade this to a three star because the customer service was really great and that is hard to find in this day and age.

Reel feels good in the hand for catfishin BUTT I used one time HAD PARTS FALL OFF cast poorly and retrieved poorly not smooth I suggest if you wanna buy a cheap bait caster for catfishin use kast king for sure. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The reel screws quickly worked loose while fishing. Despite looking nice on the outside, it’s all plastic inside. It squeaks when reeling, and just feels loose. It does work though. wish I had just spent a little bit more for better inexpensive reels on the market.

G McClain : The lowest drag setting was way to high. It would break 20lb test.

The real looks very nice. Functions were all there except the drag disc inside the reel was contaminated with some type of rubber that was locking up the internal drag disc. After cleaning and lubricating the star drag components the real seems to be fine now. Quality control was slightly off on this real.

A bit smaller than a typical 50 reel but gets the job done. Loaded it with 250 yards of braid and it was not overloaded. Casting is smooth and quiet. Still wait to see the action on a big fish.

After a few months of not using the reel, it became frozen, and being new to saltwater fishing and this type of reel, I used too much force to get the reel to turn and I ended up stripping the level wind gear. I took the reel apart and saw what had happened. The plastic gear that drives the level wind was tore up. I probably could have freed the gear manually using a lubricant if I had taken the reel apart instead of trying to horse it by cranking the handle (but I was on a pier and eager to begin fishing). The reel is still operable, but without the level wind feature, which for me is kind of a big deal. Without the level wind feature, the reel can only be used for bottom fishing and vertical jigging in moderate water depths.

Came in unadjusted and rough, after adjustment it had a scrape when reeling very basic rough winding reel spend a few more dollars and buy a brand name that has some sort of quality control.

Bought the reel was very excited looks amazing! BUT the drag does not set and the release paw does not work and just grinds! If the company will send me another one that actually works I will give a great review with videos of catching some big fish! But until then it will be a bad review hope to hear from the company soon.

I bought the 4000 about 2 months ago because I was looking for an alternative to my old abu ambassador. Mainly use it for river fishing for smaller channel and blue cats and common carp so I decided to get the smallest one. I was very impressed with it after about 5 or so outings so I bought a second one, for the money it's hands down worth it and I'm going to slowly phase out all my old ambassadors (when I say old they were all purchased in the late 80s-early 90s) as they break with these because I think they're that good.

Seems well built but the clicker setting doesn't get very tight which can be annoying when fishing in current. If you plan to cast, I'd look for something different as the cast release is in an awkward location.

So upon opening the box first glance a beautiful looking real definitely looks like a good one has a good strong drag has a nice clicker system that's where it stops the line lays wrong on the real and bunches up and backlash I rewound the real several times with different pound test line did not fix issue it whines on incorrectly however a beautiful looking real looks great if you want something to just hang on the wall and not use

Just purchased 8 new reels and went fishing with them. They worked great and caught fish on all of them. Found to frag was extremely smooth and the reels good quality for the money. Drags tend to come a little loose at times which I can live with occasional adjustment. The reels look absolutely beautiful. My only concern would be how to receive service in the future but with a 6 ball bearing system And the quality they should work great for many years. My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make the clicker button tighter as it tends to move out of the clicker position.
Over all the reels have worked really well.
