Can i use this reel for saltwater?

Answer: Bought two, 1st time I used it the adjustment knob kept falling off and finally it went overboard. The second reel, the drag is always tight, star is all the way out and there is about 10lbs. Of drag at the lowest adjustment. Tighten the drag a little and it locks up. Wrapped pliers around the line, pulled and snapped 30lb. Braid. But they were brand new so saltwater didn’t have anything to do with the failures.

I strongly suggest you read my prior review on this reel...it is inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Mine lasted me about 5 fishing trips...

Answer: Clicker being loud is a relative term. When I first got the reel and tested the clicker, I thought the sound of it was sufficient for me. Unfortunately the reel is horrible and broke within 2 weeks and half a dozen fishing trips for me to have actually used this reel with the clicker. Personally, I would avoid this product. Very poor quality.

Answer: To stop the line from unspooling after you cast, it’s kind of obvious, turn the dag blasted crank handle a bit.

The reel worked out of the box. My only complaint at the time was the drag really sucked. Otherwise it worked. Used for 2 trips. I had issues with the braided line tangling on the line guide on the reel. On third trip i cast the pole on a bottom feeder. Hooked a fish and it wont reel back in. Just makes a zipping noise while reeling like drag is super low. I gave up and cut the line after losing more than half my spool. Will not buy anything of this brand again.

Looking for bigger reels to use for Muskie fishing, Big fish. These two reels have performed excellent. They hold a good amount of heavy line, they cast smoothly and for long distances. We can reel heavy baits smoothly and with good speed. We have caught a number of big fish, Muskies, Northerns and bass. I would say these have performed as well as any expensive reel I have owned. I would buy again without hesitation!

Bought two of these December 2018. I like the reels biggest fish caught was 38lbs so they have held up pretty good for me. Supposed to get two year warranty with these reels that is completely bull. The customer service department is a joke. I have try email at least three times try calling several times. The nut that holds the handle on fell off one of the reels it is a weird metric size think its a m8x.75. So I thought I could order another nut from the company I'm even willing to pay for it even though the warranty should cover this. You would think getting a new nut for the handle would be a simple fix. If you buy one of these reels and you get a lemon then your out of $50.

This is an amazing reel! Light weight and super smooth. I only do salt water fishing and I have enjoyed the performance of this reel so far.
I love the fact that the clocker can be turned on or off. The clicker is really convenient when fighting big fish.

I recommend using braid 0.3mm or under with this reel to maximize the spool capacity. I also love the drag system on this reel very easy to dial in and the level wind ensures that the line leaves the spool evenly as well.

The only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to open up the reel to get the spool out but that's something I'll figure out eventually.

Overall I love this reel. Switched to baitcasters mainly because of the challenge they seem to pose and I'm loving this one so far. I highly recommend this reel.

Best reel for your money hands down! I fish a lot a whole lot these reels do not get breaks ever. I have landed fish over 80lb with the 60 series and a 57lb’er the 40 series! Plain and simple they hold up! I require 6-8 rod and reels on my boat at all times from guiding to tournament wins these reels have never let me down!

I bought this (the WA6000) for a replacement and to learn how to use a baitcaster (I have avoided it for years). I think this is a great reel for the money. I was able to make the adjustsments easy and picked it up fairly quickly. I can cast pretty far for me, about 65 yards (30 LB Slimeline, Mad Katz rod and a 2 oz weight for practice). I like that the free spool goes off when you start reeling in. I would buy this again.

Rating this product before it's used! But the dimensions for the 5000 is wrong! It says the gear ratio is 5.2:1, which is great! But when I got it in the mail it's only 4.2:1, like the 6000 says it is. Other than that, it was packaged great & looks even better than the pictures!

ok so good build quality, strong, cast far, ect and most importantly its cheap. what you give up for the price is a good breaking system. you will be using your thumb and maybe a glove. this is not the best choice if you have never used a bait caster and arent experienced in fishing and fixing ratnests of line. but if you want a good build quality cheap reel that can reel in a large catfish, pike, muskie, salmon, ect on 60-100lb braided line then this is a good choice. it can hold a lot of line, but i have only tried braided so far. when reeling in a small 5 in fish it is actually very hard to tell if you have a fish on the line. fished in very dirty muddy conditions and the reel hasn't had any issues or rust. has a clicker. caught a large channel cat on it and reeled it in very easily.

It looks like a solid reel and the price was right. I really liked the cast/retrieve lever versus a bush button. Unfortunately it didn't even make it a month, hooked into a large freshwater drum (4lbs) and it jerked the rod out of the holder onto some rocks. The gearing inside broke from the impact and now drag is iffy at best.

I can’t say enough good things about this reel!!! It looks ant the smoothest reel ever, but as you can see it will get the job done!!! I did take it apart and cleaned it and re-lubed it when I got it, which helped out a lot. But for the money you can’t beat this thing, especially in this price range! I did notice today (fathers day 2021) that the left side of the reel started feeling loose, but that’s something I can deal with. I’ve put it through the ringer the past 2 weeks!!!
