Answer: I wondered the same thing- one thing to remember is that many things like this and fish finders use the same parts to make different product lines- many made in china- I use the reels a lot - I have a saltwater size reel I have never used- too big for trout- keep them clean and lubes and screws secure and you should get a lot of use out of either one- look for price first- in most reels I wish they would come up with a better bail flip mechanism- most use a compression spring - I hate it. But if you don't abuse the reel- should get much use out of it-.

Amazon Customer : Junky reel and poor customer service
At first, I thought I was onto something. Affordable reel, low price, smooth operation. Then after about the fifth time out, the bail just fell apart as I was reeling, and unfortunately, one of the small pieces is lost somewhere in my boat. I contacted the company to ask if there was anything they could do for me, and they replied that they regret what happened, but the company is no longer making the reels, so they can't get replacement parts.
KLS : Good Reel For The Money
This is a pretty decent reel, especially for the price. Some times the bail is more difficult to close on the initial retrieve than other times, but overall works well. Casting distance is very good, and line twist is no more noticeable on this reel than others of this style.

Pretty nice reel for the money. It is a little heavy and does not have infinite anti-reverse, but it is smooth and has good drag. I use it on my utility/multi species set up.

When I purchased these, I never expected them to be penn battle's or shimano stradics. I wanted to see if I could get a serviceable reel in this low price range that would actually be of some use and not be a gimmick. I purchased one each of the 2000, 3000, and 4,000 series. The 3000 series seems like it will be the one that I use the most. I use this as a reel for the kids to fish with until they learn to appreciate a more expensive reel, and also for a loaner reel when I have to outfit the people I bring fishing that do not possess any gear of their own.
I am using this reel in saltwater in the southeast Louisiana coastal marshes. I finally had a chance to do a little fishing with it and this review is subject to change after more hours are put on the reel. the fit and finish are very nice on the reel for this price range. it looks more expensive than what it is in the finish department. I do not care for the fact that the body is graphite as I would have preferred cast metal but consider the price range. I used this reel for the first time for three days of fishing and caught only speckled trout so I did not have a chance to see how the reel would hold up fighting something heavier like redfish and testing the drag system as well. it did not give me any issues on this initial 3 day trip. the reel operated smoothly and retrieved and spooled the line just like it should have. On the first 3000 I received, the screw that holds the handle secured from the opposite side was stripped and would not tighten down properly so I contacted the seller and it was replaced with one that did not have these same issues........
Let me take a minute here to discuss the customer service form pisfun................
This has to be THE BEST customer service experience I have ever had. While there was a small bit of delay in the email exchange due to them being in China I presume the response was outstanding. They truly did send me out a new reel no questions asked when I explained to them the problem I was having. The lady I spoke to was very kind, and very helpful, and handled everything in a quick smooth matter. My new 3000 while arriving from china actually came quicker than I had expected. My point here is if you want to gamble and try one of these reels out they really did stand by their warranty/guarantee in my experience.
So back to the reel. One thing I did not care for was the little bit of back slack in the anti-reverse. In other words if you reel and stop it will have a slight bit of back travel or click before it completely stops. you will often notice this on cheap entry level reels as opposed to higher quality reels. However, when the reel was spooled, mounted, and fished with, this was hardly noticeable anymore at least to where it did not bother me nor did it catch my attention. I usually fish with a PENN battle 2 which is outstanding and quickly pick up on things like this with cheaper reels. I really need to put more time on this reel to see what problems will develop then I will adjust this review accordingly. usually on cheaper reels I will start to notice a gritty or binding feeling when reeling in especially after a large fish has run some of the drag out. I will be looking for this here as well. also after using in saltwater for some time it tens to have a gritty feel and loses it's smoothness when reeling in. if I experience these issues I will update.
so to sum it up, do not expect a $100 reel here but let's see if it's not serviceable enough for people on a budget or as a loaner reel or a reel for kids that can actually land fish. So far my impression has been good for this price range. My 3000 cost 15.99 when I purchased it but it is now 16.99. I do not feel like I would really pay any higher for another as the price point is what convinced me to try it out. But perhaps long term it will hold up fine then I wouldn't mind a buck or two more. only time will tell. basically I am hoping it will be on par with the 23-29 dollar entry level specials that all the name brand makers sell, but for less money. BTW don't expect to gain too much info from the reviews until the numbers are up as there are a lot of phony reviews here placed by who knows? If you look at the bizarre names and lofty claims made about the reel along with the incorrect nomenclature that real fisherman would never use, then the phony reviews are easy to spot. I am trying to give an honest assessment to people who really fish by someone who really fishes to see if this cheap reel might be a good or bad choice for you.

I finally had a chance to take the 3000 series reel on a couple of trips where I put it to much use. Again, fishing saltwater coastal marshes in southeast La and species caught was speckled trout......or spotted sea trout to you Yankees :) So here is my best guess at reviewing this reel for people who are wondering. The reel certainly did it's job, and it did not give me any problems. But I think what you mostly notice about it when you really get into catching a lot of fish is there are choices out there that cost a little more, but the functioning of the reel is so much smoother than a much cheaper reel like this. Let me explain. It is not uncommon here this time of year to catch 40 trout per person to have a few keepers as there are so many undersized fish in the mix. So on a really good trip such as the last two I am using this reel constantly and landing fish only to release 90% of them right back in the water. The point is, the reel gets a serious workout. I wont remove any stars because it functioned fine and gave me no problems but the reel just isn't as smooth as my penn reels or even my cheaper mitchells that the kids fish with. I did not land any big reds these few trips, but I did have a few large sail cats and the drag system worked fine for those. My family fishes a lot. So much, that we know the difference between cheaper and better reels. I don't feel like I would want to use this reel all day long and on every trip. But, I am an experienced fisherman who goes often which is not the case for a lot of people. That's why, I will stay with my original rating and say this...I think this reel is perfectly fine for young kids who do not yet respect their gear, as a loaner reel for bringing people with you who do not possess their own gear, as a good back up reel as my buddy calls it who is a kayak fisherman that you do not fear if it falls overboard, or just anyone who needs a dependable reel but does not have a lot of money to spend. As I said, the reel functioned just fine it just doesn't feel like a 70-100 dollar reel. If you are a frequent fisherman, you will know what I mean. As an example, I went on Amazon 2 days ago and will replacing this 3000 series with a penn fierce 2500 for my sons pole because it was on sale for 46.99. This reel (pisfun) would do just fine for him, but he is becoming a more experienced fisherman so it is time for him to step up to higher quality but not the really expensive reels yet. But again, the pisfun is a great starter reel or for any of the above mentioned reasons. If you have the money and the experience, you would most likely opt for something more expensive. as of yet, the pisfun has given me no problems in it's function so I will keep the 4 star rating for reliability. I would maybe drop to 3 stars as far as describing the quality. I will need to use the reel longer in saltwater to see how it holds up in that respect, but I always rinse my gear with fresh water after every trip so I do not abuse my stuff.

I really need to put more time on this reel to see what problems will develop then I will adjust this review accordingly. usually on cheaper reels I will start to notice a gritty or binding feeling when reeling in especially after a large fish has run some of the drag out. I will be looking for this here as well. also after using in saltwater for some time it tens to have a gritty feel and loses it's smoothness when reeling in. if I experience these issues I will update.
so to sum it up, do not expect a $100 reel here but let's see if it's not serviceable enough for people on a budget or as a loaner reel or a reel for kids that can actually land fish. So far my impression has been good for this price range. My 3000 cost 15.99 when I purchased it but it is now 16.99. I do not feel like I would really pay any higher for another as the price point is what convinced me to try it out. But perhaps long term it will hold up fine then I wouldn't mind a buck or two more. only time will tell. basically I am hoping it will be on par with the 23-29 dollar entry level specials that all the name brand makers sell, but for less money. BTW don't expect to gain too much info from the reviews until the numbers are up as there are a lot of phony reviews here placed by who knows? If you look at the bizarre names and lofty claims made about the reel along with the incorrect nomenclature that real fisherman would never use, then the phony reviews are easy to spot. I am trying to give an honest assessment to people who really fish by someone who really fishes to see if this cheap reel might be a good or bad choice for you.

I finally had a chance to take the 3000 series reel on a couple of trips where I put it to much use. Again, fishing saltwater coastal marshes in southeast La and species caught was speckled trout......or spotted sea trout to you Yankees :) So here is my best guess at reviewing this reel for people who are wondering. The reel certainly did it's job, and it did not give me any problems. But I think what you mostly notice about it when you really get into catching a lot of fish is there are choices out there that cost a little more, but the functioning of the reel is so much smoother than a much cheaper reel like this. Let me explain. It is not uncommon here this time of year to catch 40 trout per person to have a few keepers as there are so many undersized fish in the mix. So on a really good trip such as the last two I am using this reel constantly and landing fish only to release 90% of them right back in the water. The point is, the reel gets a serious workout. I wont remove any stars because it functioned fine and gave me no problems but the reel just isn't as smooth as my penn reels or even my cheaper mitchells that the kids fish with. I did not land any big reds these few trips, but I did have a few large sail cats and the drag system worked fine for those. My family fishes a lot. So much, that we know the difference between cheaper and better reels. I don't feel like I would want to use this reel all day long and on every trip. But, I am an experienced fisherman who goes often which is not the case for a lot of people. That's why, I will stay with my original rating and say this...I think this reel is perfectly fine for young kids who do not yet respect their gear, as a loaner reel for bringing people with you who do not possess their own gear, as a good back up reel as my buddy calls it who is a kayak fisherman that you do not fear if it falls overboard, or just anyone who needs a dependable reel but does not have a lot of money to spend. As I said, the reel functioned just fine it just doesn't feel like a 70-100 dollar reel. If you are a frequent fisherman, you will know what I mean. As an example, I went on Amazon 2 days ago and will replacing this 3000 series with a penn fierce 2500 for my sons pole because it was on sale for 46.99. This reel (pisfun) would do just fine for him, but he is becoming a more experienced fisherman so it is time for him to step up to higher quality but not the really expensive reels yet. But again, the pisfun is a great starter reel or for any of the above mentioned reasons. If you have the money and the experience, you would most likely opt for something more expensive. as of yet, the pisfun has given me no problems in it's function so I will keep the 4 star rating for reliability. I would maybe drop to 3 stars as far as describing the quality. I will need to use the reel longer in saltwater to see how it holds up in that respect, but I always rinse my gear with fresh water after every trip so I do not abuse my stuff.

So I have been testing this reel for a while. I got the 4000 series for this reel and all the other reels I bought to test. I brought a bunch of reels to test. I have tested them all on the same pole. Using an ugly stick as the base for the test this reel has performed almost flawless. It has reeled in fish of all sizes. I have caught redfish, trout, saltwater cats, snapper and a really nice sized stingray. I have had no issues with the performance of this reel. The only thing I don’t like about it is when I first started spoiling the reel it was a little stiff and gritty. I took it all apart, cleaned and greased it and now it’s perfect. If a little more time was taken in assembly to grease it properly I would have given it 5 stars.

I hate to say it but I'm guessing most of the reviews for this are bogus or made by people who don't fish. I've used it about 10 times in the few weeks I've had it and it's now going to be a backup kids reel instead of my casual stocked trout reel. Its not smooth. It has a rough spot on each rotation. The bail started off being hard to flip without manual intervention and now it won't flip at all without manual intervention. In fact, the bail will stay up as I keep winding which I've never had a reel do. I imagine I could fix some of the issues but its not worth my time. For the price its adequate and probably of reasonable quality. I mean the reel does look decent but it's a sub $15 reel and it feels like it.

For the price it's a pretty good cheap reel. Some problems I've had with it is that the line would jump off the reel a bit often. The bail has also started to bend downward. However this is probably because I live in Texas and leave it in my car where it gets really hot. I've used it a lot over the past several months, at least 20 hours a week. It is definitely worth it for the price.

I purchased this a few months ago as a cheap alternative to my much smaller, main spinning reel. It performed admirably on a bachelor party in the Poconos where it was dunked in a lake at least three times.
I am writing this review from the beach in North Carolina on my last day of vacation and during a particularly strong period of introspection. I can now say that I have surf-fished for the first time and the reel stood up to being submerged in saltwater for 2 weeks while I bumbled my way through learning the ropes. When I say submerged, I mean it quite literally. It's main job was to sling a 3 oz Bucktail jig while spooled with way too much 30lb Power Pro. I didn't catch much, but the thing kept casting.
Upon inspection, the only issues appear to be that some of the screws have rusted a bit. In retrospect, I probably should have rinsed it in freshwater after each trip into the surf, but hindsight is 20/20, right?

Next time out the bail return started acting up after around 20 casts. Seller refunded my money. The reel has much to like about it, especially the handle folding feature. Too bad either the design or the manufacturing is so poor.

It seems every time I caught a fish I would have the handle unlock while reeling it in, and lost a number of fish because of that. That is the only problem I found, they just need to fix that problem.....

This is a defected reel. I bought it in October but just Opened it brand new today preparing for fishing trip tomorrow. The reel does not work correctly; the reel is locked and I can just pull the line out without any part of the reel moving. It looks like the middle part of the spool is moving freely. The best cheap reel I have ever bought. The most I have ever spent on a reel was $50; and that was a Penn reel. For a reel that's salt water approved with 6bbs? Can't beat it, will buy again. Unless I'm gonna spend $100+ on a reel, this is my now go to reel for fishing, I'll invest more money in a rod now.

Literally minutes after receiving this in the mail and opening it up, I collapsed it back in to itself and one of the eyes popped loose and was just floating up and down on the rod. The next day, I took the Goture Portable Carbon Fiber Telescopic rod and Goture 2000 series reel to the lake about 3 miles from the house, cast it about 20-30 times and went to colapse it and discovered that the little screw on cap at the butt of the pole was now missing...which is what keeps the inside parts...INSIDE...the rod. While casting I was constantly reminded of how cheaply made the reel was. I can only describe the sound the reel makes by likening it to a child stirring chocolate milk in a plastic sippy cup. At this point, I was seriously considering giving it to my neighbors 8 year old but I really didn't want to do that to the poor kid. On the three mile ride back home, the rod and reel fell off the back of my bike going about 10 miles an hour and I thought for about half a second that I should turn around and get it, then remembered what a piece of crap it was and just left it on the side of the road. The only value it has to anyone is the 10 bucks worth of line and leader still on it. Oh, I almost forgot, every single time I cast the pole, the "Double secure" reel clamp would unscrew in my hand. I am right handed and cast with my right hand and had to tighten the reel clamp after every single cast. I reiterate...COMPLETE GARBAGE!

IMO Review : For the price, couldn't be happier
Honestly, I love this reel. For the money, this feels much more expensive. It has a very smooth cast and reel action. This is not a super expensive carbon lite Shimano reel. If you want that, go spend $100-200. What this is, however, is a very good replacement budget reel that I paid approximately $14. I paid 2-3 times more for low to midlevel "namebrand" reels in local brick and mortar stores that didn't feel as nice. This replaced a cheap Shakespear reel that came with my rod that eventually died after a few years. I go fishing only occasionally as a family past time. I am NOT an avid fisherman that goes weekly and owns a bass boat. I don't know that I believe their claim of 6 bearings, but, it definitely feels extremely smooth and makes it believable. I have used this several times so far, in both salt and freshwater, and have had success with it. I will update this review if/when this reel eventually degrades and/or dies, as I expect it will over time. However, based on current feel and use, I do expect this to last at least several years, and for the price, that makes this a steal. I am already planning on purchasing its bigger brother for a shore fishing pole I have as well as a twin or smaller for smaller freshwater fishing pole I use.

Been using this for about a month straight now and actually pretty impressed for the cost. The overall functionality is pretty damn good or comparable to high end reels. Nice drag setup, casts pretty far and smooth retrieval. Only down issue I have seen thus far is some of the flashy gold paint is starting to chip off.

I purchased this to be used with a collapsing carbon fiber fishing rod and so far it has exceeded my expectations. The fit and finish is quite nice and has held up very well. The bail operates very smoothly as does the gearing. My item also arrived with an additional spool included in the products box.

Good reel but cheap drag system. You need to keep it dry. If it gets wet, remove the drag washers and let them dry outside of the reel and the reel will last a long time. Or just upgrade the drag washers!

I bought the 1000 series to put on a 6’ lite Shakespeare rod. The reel is very smooth and cast easy. I have had a problem with the drag. It’s hard to get started on the threads to tighten. The problem is in the slip nut. If I take off the spool I have to put a lot of pressure on the turn to get it started.

Reel works great. No issues with it. Smooth operation. The only drawback for me, it is in the product description, is the retrieval speed. I think it is 5/1 so it does require a bit more turning than I'm use to.
For the money though, it is a great reel and I use it weekly. A great thing about living in Florida, I can fish as muck as I want.

Smooth retrieve. The handle is very small and oblong. Not the most comfortable but so far I’m quite satisfied.

My new Goture Aquila spinning reel is one of the smoothest spinning reels that I have ever used. I love saltwater surf fishing and bought this reel for that purpose. It handled some redfish action with no problem at all. I plan on purchasing another one of these reels in the very near future and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great reel. I think I have a co-worker sold on this reel also. Thanks for a great quality product.
