Answer: I wondered the same thing- one thing to remember is that many things like this and fish finders use the same parts to make different product lines- many made in china- I use the reels a lot - I have a saltwater size reel I have never used- too big for trout- keep them clean and lubes and screws secure and you should get a lot of use out of either one- look for price first- in most reels I wish they would come up with a better bail flip mechanism- most use a compression spring - I hate it. But if you don't abuse the reel- should get much use out of it-.

Make sure you get the same exactly item in the pics for what you are paying for.

I normally don't write product review, but I've been very impressed with this reel and the customer service that I think they deserved to be recognized. I was very skeptical to buy such a cheap reel, but once I got it, it has performed really well that I bought a 2nd one and recommended to all of my friends. It's very light weight and it handled salt water flawlessly. I accidentally dropped it in the water a few times and forgot to clean it the same day...normally the reel would rust, stuck, stutter, but this reel remains smooth and continues to perform very well. I have caught many big fish (pictures attached) with this reel on a kayak and the reel and drag worked flawlessly. Most of the fish I caught was 30-40lbs and this reel was completely solid.

On to their customer service: The handle on my reel accidentally came lose and fell into the ocean. I contacted Customer Support and they responded immediately and sent me a brand new handle. I like that they stand behind their product and responded in a timely manner. Well done!

I bought the 1000 series to put on a 6’ lite Shakespeare rod. The reel is very smooth and cast easy. I have had a problem with the drag. It’s hard to get started on the threads to tighten. The problem is in the slip nut. If I take off the spool I have to put a lot of pressure on the turn to get it started.

Good reel but cheap drag system. You need to keep it dry. If it gets wet, remove the drag washers and let them dry outside of the reel and the reel will last a long time. Or just upgrade the drag washers!

The bail is plastic. It is held in place by a metal screw. The plastic stripped out holding the screw. I tried to put E600 in the hole to hold it but it did not work. I only was able to use it a few days.
I didn't use this until it was too late to return it. But the seller was great about replacing the broken part directly from the factory in China. It took a little while to get here but when it did I saw that they sent a whole new section of the reel, more than I needed. Thanks for GREAT customer service

paul : Keeps coming apart, terrible drag

The handle comes loose easily, the main spinning arm also loosens and almost came off, the drag is either full on or to week. I didn't expect much for the price but when it just constantly falls apart it's pretty much useless. Just used it for a 2 day trip and spent more time fixing the reel than fishing. I'll probably try and loctite the parts coming loose but this will be a backup reel for sure or because I'm out of the return window be put in the trash. Spend a couple extra bucks and get a better reel.

This reel is smooth out of the box. It casts a light line well with the right light rod and a little casting weight. It retrieves easy and the drag is adequate for smaller fish. I don't think a three pound fish will wear it out. I lubed it well out of the box for good luck and will open it up after a few uses to check the grease and gears. I like it for a light rig to fish for smaller fish and bait.

My previous review was complaining about the handle not being reversible. It is. The problem I was having is the washer wasn't coming out all the way which prevented the lever from being inserted on the other side. This was resolved after the responsive customer service from Anglerbasics-US. I appreciate their fast response.

The reel itself feels sturdy, looks good, and has good action. Now that I have it situated correctly I'm eager to go give it a test. I'll update this review in six months or so after I have a better feel for how it performs.

I liked a review I read about this 3000 series and so I bought it- I LOVE it and what is neat- I was out fishing this week and you know how you get busy fishing and forget to check the equipment regularly- I threw the line out to fish and noticed a light round object go into the water and thought a bird dropped it= I went to start retrieving the lure and What?- NO CRANK= THE ROUND OBJECT I saw was the hold in screw knob and gone is my crank= so I switched reels and when I got home- I pulled out a worn out reel and the crank fit- different make on the reel - but maybe not- I was so happy- Check your equipment. I LOVE PISFUN. Smooth action!

I hate to say it but I'm guessing most of the reviews for this are bogus or made by people who don't fish. I've used it about 10 times in the few weeks I've had it and it's now going to be a backup kids reel instead of my casual stocked trout reel. Its not smooth. It has a rough spot on each rotation. The bail started off being hard to flip without manual intervention and now it won't flip at all without manual intervention. In fact, the bail will stay up as I keep winding which I've never had a reel do. I imagine I could fix some of the issues but its not worth my time. For the price its adequate and probably of reasonable quality. I mean the reel does look decent but it's a sub $15 reel and it feels like it.

Love this reel 5 star, bought this for my little boy he uses it often and works like some of my expensive reels. He so rough with his thing i did not want to spend a lot of money and this is the reel for that. I tried it myself its smooth and feels solid, i liked it so much i ordered one for me.

Unlike other Goture reels I've bought, this one seems kind of flimsy for its size. Also doesn't spool braid evenly. Definitely a lower quality product than I expected.

Haven't used yes, but seems to be a pretty smooth reel. I bought the 4000 model for a 7ft Shimano and it was a bit larger that I expected but I'm okay with it. If you're looking for an all purpose freshwater reel, I'd probably go with the 2500 or 3000.

Initial impression of this reel is positive for a price point of $15.00 or less. It appears to be just as well constructed or better than lower end Okuma reels costing twice as much. Smooth retrieve, drag, and anti reverse works. One issue some may not like is that you are not going to be able to have the bail close with reeling in. To me this is no biggie as I manually close the bail anyway because this minimizes issues with line twists and gives you a clue on early bites too. The second issue is that I'm pretty confident that you will not ever find replacement parts for repairs when things will eventually break, but at this cost it's going to be as cost effective to just buy a new one so long as it lasts a reasonable amount of time. I'll try to update my experience with this reel with some actual time on the water.

All went well initially, but this thing can manage to create line tangles like no other reel I have ever used. I properly spooled the smallest model with 5lb power pro and only used it with beetle spins. Other reels set up like this rarely have an issue. After the initial few hours use I had nothing but issues from this hunk of metal. I have no idea how it can be such a disaster. I not only wasted money on this reel, but it destroyed over 100 yards of new line. Don't waste your time or money on this like I did.

This is a neat little reel. It isn't instant antireverse reverse but it's pretty quick and overall the quality feels nice. Used it a couple of times for crappie and trout and it works. For the money it's pretty good. Does come with a spare spool but the one I got was plastic garbage so one star off for that.

Smooth retrieve. The handle is very small and oblong. Not the most comfortable but so far I’m quite satisfied.

At this price, the reel really cant be beat. Got the 1000 paired with 4lb floro for lightweight freshwater application.

I bought the 500 size for an ultralight setup I use for panfishing. It's perfectly sized and really lightweight. The drag is very smooth, great for light line. I'm not in love with the shape or texture of the grip on the handle, but it's still really usable and does help with grip when my hands are wet.

I took this to the beach last weekend & did my usual surf & jetty fishing. I was surprised at how smooth the reel was. I didn't hook anything bigger than 15 or 16 inches, but it handled what I did hook with ease. I never felt anything but smoothness from it. I had a Penn Pursuit reel that went bad on me after a year, so this is its replacement. So far I'm enjoying it & will try it out again in another week ( hopefully on bigger fish).

I normally don't write product review, but I've been very impressed with this reel and the customer service that I think they deserved to be recognized. I was very skeptical to buy such a cheap reel, but once I got it, it has performed really well that I bought a 2nd one and recommended to all of my friends. It's very light weight and it handled salt water flawlessly. I accidentally dropped it in the water a few times and forgot to clean it the same day...normally the reel would rust, stuck, stutter, but this reel remains smooth and continues to perform very well. I have caught many big fish (pictures attached) with this reel on a kayak and the reel and drag worked flawlessly. Most of the fish I caught was 30-40lbs and this reel was completely solid.

On to their customer service: The handle on my reel accidentally came lose and fell into the ocean. I contacted Customer Support and they responded immediately and sent me a brand new handle. I like that they stand behind their product and responded in a timely manner. Well done!

This reel is at or exceeding the quality of my best reel from Cabela's that costed me $150.

I could not believe the smoothness of the retrieve when this came in the mail. After using it on my local river, I can confirm that this is the best value I have seen if you want top-notch quality for a price you can afford. It handled fish well, and the drag was not tempermental at all.

Went with the 500 size to use for ice fishing. I have similar reels I've paid $30 for and this one is just as good, if not better. I also really enjoy the quick folding handle for putting them in rod bags. I will more than likely be ordering more in the future.
