JMo : Buttery Smooth with Issues

This is an EXTREMELY smooth reel, has a quality feel and looks nice. I was frustrated at the lack of published information about the Eagle Claw EC2.5 series. After not being able to find out basic items such as line capacity, weight, etc, I took the plunge and bough the undescribed size 40 on Amazon.

Note the size 40 specs (on the box)
-10lb line- 300yds
-5.2:1 gear ratio
-23" per turn* (very slow for a reel holding 300yds of 10lb line)
-17lb max drag
9.3oz

My primary issues with the reel and why I eventually returned it is due to the extremely slow retrieval rate, heavy for spool size, spool shape, and line getting in under the spool and binding. The spool has a small diameter and is really deep, so it isn't an ideal shape for distance casting and just holds (wastes) a lot of line underneath. It when collecting line, I had mtuplw instances of having line get under the spool and binding up the reel.

Overall, it is an extremely smooth reel but it had enough issues that it is easy to find other options out there. I like my Pflueger presidents and Daiwa Legalis LTs better for close to the same price.
