Answer: If using monofilament i wouldn’t go over 20 pound test but if you’re using braid i would say 40 to 50 pound test would be alright because off the diameter of the braided line.

This is the first baitcaster that I uabe purchased and used so my review may be a little limited. The setup was pretty striaght forward after watching a couple vidoes on YouTube I went to the yard forna few practice casts. Needles to say I ended up with a birds nest but was able to remedy this easily. The reel cast smooth and gets a good distance out there. It could be my lack of experience with baitcasters but this reel did seem to prefer heavier baits or jig heads but worked flawlessly. For a budget reel, I am impressed!

This is a great little reel. I’ve only hand the chance to fish with it over a couple of trips now but from what I’ve seen of it, it casts smoothly and the Merced braid that I put on the reel is smooth and casts well. I found that it ties knots pretty well because of how smooth the line is. The drag on the reel is good for its size. Overall this is a great reel and I can’t wait to catch more fish with it.

Having had some good previous experiences using RUNCL gear I tried to give their baitcaster a try. Full disclaimer: While I've been fishing for the last 30 years, I'm a complete newb when it comes to baitcasters. I've been looking to take my trout game to the next level but didn't want to drop $200 on a brand name BFS reel. I figured why not try setting up the Remiel for UL fishing.

Hollowed out spool? Check
Mag break system? Check

My local pond was scheduling a plant so I spooled up some 4lb Izorline XXX and took it out. Like I said, I'm a newb, so I birdnested badly the first few times around, but after 30 minutes or so of fiddling I got it dialed in to cast my 1/8 oz spoons with a little wrist flick.

Here's my take: The brakes work great! Using 4lb mono my overruns could've been much worse and the brakes helped. The spool is fitted well enough so that I had zero issues with my 4lb line getting stuck inbetween the spool and reel. Casting is smooth and really shines with those finesse-type flick-of-the-wrist casts.

Overall happy. I wouldn't consider it a full-on BFS, but it's definitely a good alternative for someone who wants to give cast UL tackle a try.

If RUNCL were to offer a shallower spool for the Remiel honestly I think that's all that's really needed to make it a BFS worthy reel.

I needed another baitcaster to put together a pan fish rig. My other baitcaster was set up for bass and I was really enjoying the control I have over the cost using a baitcaster versus the spinning rigs I grew up with. I have had good luck with RUNCL products in the past so when I saw they had a baitcaster available, I decided to give it a go. I am glad I did. I paired it with a medium light rod and through on some 8lb monofilament and jumped in my kayak. It did not fail me as you can see by the perch I got on my first outing with it. I got more but they were even smaller so not worth taking a pic.
I like the ease of adjusting the tension and brake so I can adjust it to whatever size/weight of lure I have on especially as light as the pan fish lures are. I am not going to say I never birdnested, but you gotta expect that when getting used to a new reel. I did not birdnest much though, because it is so easy to adjust.
I am very happy with my newest acquisition.

This was my first time using a baitcaster, and it took some time getting used to it, but I think I got the hang of it now. The reel itself is very smooth when casting and reeling. It is also the perfect size. Not too big so that it doesn't get in the way of things, and not too small so that it can handle larger fish. I think it is competitively priced with the competition, so you can't go wrong with this one. Just remember to adjust the settings according to the weight of the lure that you're using if it's your first time using a baitcaster.

Update: Maybe I got a bad reel here, but the braking system is very weak. With everything set to max braking it still backlash with casting minnow jerk baits. Also, 10lb test mono continues to get caught between the spool and reel gap...I like that its very light. But the plastic is very noticeable making it feel cheap and not durable. I feel like if I drop it, it'll chip/break.

So iv been playing with this bait casting reel for about 2 weeks now. I did not have high Hope's at the start. Because iv tried to use them before and it always just turns in to a rat's nest on me. It is definitely a different beast then your normal reel is. Not going to lie I did have to reline it three times. Definitely operator error and not the fault of the reel at all! So after watching some YouTube videos on how to use a bait caster and taking some time. I can now honestly say I love this reel. I put it on my small river poll and with some practice you can nail the spot you want super easy. The action is butter smooth and its actually a delight to use. Its built quality is right up there with a way more expensive reel. It feels extremely good in your hands and can handle some good size fish with out skipping a beat! I'm going to try it out on my salt poll next and see how it holds up to a striper. I dont think it will have any issues at all!! If this is your first bait casting reel. Dont get frustrated if you dont get it right off there is definitely a learning curve. Watch some videos and ounce you get it you will never look back to another reel!! I highly recommend this reel to anyone you will not regret it one bit!! Happy fishing all!

I've bought multiple fishing products from Runcl and they have all been great value for the money. So when i saw they had a baitcaster I ordered one, and they did not disappoint. I took it fishing 1st before i gave a review and caught multiple fish with no issues (see video). Also used lures of different weights from 1/4oz to 3/4oz and it was smooth on each lure. If you're a beginner and looking for cheap baitcaster to learn on this would be great choice. This reel claims to have a sealed drag system and I will report back if there are any saltwater issues.
