I went from a kastking sharky 3 to this guy and it's nice and feels like a solid reel, I havnt pulled in any monsters yet just a few small trout but I have no doubt it will be great for this coming year of fishing.

I've owned this reel for about a year now. When I had initially spotted it in a display case at Dick's, I tried it out. It felt incredibly smooth and comfortable to reel, and looked great. I bought it that day at $179.99 and took it home with me. Paired it up with a Lew's Carbon Fire speed spin 6'9ML rod and lined it up with 6lb mono and off I went. First cast: Line stripped off the reel neatly and my bait rocketed out to the moon. Go to reel in: click click click. With every revolution of the handle came a click, more of a clunk really. Minor annoyance, w/e. Move up to a bigger or smaller bait and it becomes more pronounced. This has been a trend with every Lew's spinning reel I've purchased. Every time I try to dial in the drag I have issues. One click either puts you at too much or too little, which makes all the difference in the world when fishing light line. With heavier line testing out the drag, it has a tendency to grab and it's not as smooth as it should be, especially when the reel was around the $200 price point when it came out. I've lost multiple big fish because of the drag on this reel binding up, moving over to heavier line I would rather use a baitcaster. Biggest thing is even with tightening of all screws on the bail, there are gaps where the line still gets stuck, and sometimes you find yourself having to mess with your reel and line trying to get it unstuck after a normal cast.
I do not recommend this reel above a $100 price tag, too many flaws and there are much better performing reels on the market for the price.

Used second time in salt water clean each time with fresh water after use-- reel completely frozen cannot crank period. Will never ever buy another again. Customer service promised replacement but would not reply after I supplied photo and all other details. the pinion gear is aluminum

Tigger's are made for bouncing : Team Lew's issues......

Stay away from the smaller Size 2, it has issues with the entire drive system from the one-way antireverse bearing to the ring and pinion gears. I took two back to Lew's, they replaced the case on one and gears w/ anti-reverse bearing on the other, both were never even fished. Both reels still have same issues, so did this one (returned to Amazon.)
The larger Sizes 3+ are as good as your going to get at their price point.
