Q:
Can this reel be used for long casting surf fishing ?
Answer: No, this is strictly a short distance casting FRESHWATER reel. Not saltwater or corrosion resistant! Look at Shimano brand if you want a saltwater casting type reel!
Answer: No! This is for bass fishing! Try using a spinning reel
Answer: I don’t think I would. It’s a smaller lighter duty reel, and for saltwater the lure weight and the line capacity may not be suitable.
Answer: You could, but you’ll be limited on line weight and length, also drag tension. It’s not a good choice.
Answer: No, very small spool. Ideal for smaller baits.

Q:
Is this real ok for beginners to start with?
Answer: This is a very expensive reel for someone just starting out, I wouldn’t recommend it for a complete beginner.
Answer: Yes, I found it easy to ajust, and was casting within minutes.
Q:
Is this a right hand or left hand. I need a right hand one, which one would I pick?
Answer: this can be confusing, if you like to hold the real in your right hand and crank with your left then you need a left handed real. I believe this is designated with an L at the end of the product number.
Answer: The real is right-handed the best thing to do is go on YouTube and type in left-handed or right-handed reels which one to use and it will give you a video about the whole debate whether the reel is right-handed or left-handed the video goes into detail explaining what a left handed or right handed baitcasting reel is and why you're supposed to use it the way you're supposed to use it blah blah blah blah blah
Answer: Right
Q:
waht is the drag on this reel......how much 30lb braid will it hold
Answer: The Tatula SV Series reels have a max drag of 13.2lb, and the line capacity is 14lb/100yds or 16lb/90yds mono. Depending on the specific braid and size you're using you should be able to see a Mono diameter equivalent that you can match it close and get an idea of how much it will hold. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Answer: 13.2lb, 30lb braid is equivalent to 8lb mono and it holds 100 yards of 14lb, so probably fully loaded I bet you could get 200 yards

Product reviews of Daiwa Tatula SV TW Baitcast Fishing Reels
Nobody : Top of the line quality
This is by far the best reel I've ever used. It casts extremely well, has a nice smooth drag, and if the brakes and spool tension are properly set, backlashes aren't a problem at all even when casting directly into heavy wind.
DJC : Very quickly became my favorite reel. Currently paired with a St Croix UL ...
Very quickly became my favorite reel. Currently paired with a St Croix UL rod and Seguar 20# braid with 20 feet of Seguar 6# fluorocarbon. Duo makes for a great trout rod. Hope to find a spare spool to setup for larger fish.
Buz T : Noisy
Smooth, but Very noisy on the retrieve. Unfortunately, I couldn’t return it by the deadline because I was out of town.
Lee : Believe (most of) the hype !
I absolutely love this reel
The t-wing is such a simple design, hard to imagine that nobody thought of it before now.
The reel will still backlash, but only when you hard cast into a bush or 30 mph wind - otherwise it is remarkably forgiving - the T-wing allows the line free access to leave the spool and much less chance of tangling.
I think its improved my usual casting distance by 10-15%
I am here in Amazon today about to order my second TATULA - it will not be my last!
Amazon Customer : The casting and reeling makes it worth it
Very smooth, my new favorite reel out of multiple different competitors.
skuno : Tatula sv
This still my favorite reel to fish with. When I need to skip a bait under a dock, the tatula sv is my go to reel ftw.
It's easy to dial, and it's extremely smooth to retrieve. It casts very far and the tws helps also. It's not very heavy and fits it the hands just right. There's not many bad things to say about this tatulas. They are my workhorses and would reccomend them to anyone else.
Manny : Can't go wrong with Daiwa.
Excellent quality reel. Smooth, quiet and solid reel that casts a long way. Brake and drag are top-notch.
cliff : WOW !
It cast a mile,,,,,, buy the dayum thing lmao
John Nagy : THE BEST
The best baitcaster on the market. Very light & comfortable, Smooth cast, awesome drag. Ive got it mounted on a 7ft Fenwick. I use 50lb Power Pro for heavy cover. Once it’s tuned in you won’t ever get a back lash. Worth every penny.
Matt Dufinetz : Five Stars
Awesome reel.

I real like this reel I would recommend it
James yoder : Five Stars
Awesome real!!
Amazon Customer : Best Reel Ever!
This is THE BEST CASTING REEL EVER! Wish I could replace all my reels with these. No other reel casts as smoothly as these. And you really have the screw up to get a nest. I use mine with virtually no brakes.
Amazon Customer : The casting and reeling makes it worth it
Very smooth, my new favorite reel out of multiple different competitors.
cliff : WOW !
It cast a mile,,,,,, buy the dayum thing lmao
dean saddoris : love it
works like a dream. great second reel to my collection.
Matt Dufinetz : Five Stars
Awesome reel.
BRIAN A SPICER : Took it to Canada on a five day fishing trip and it performed great. Very little if any backlash
Can't go wrong with these reels. Took it to Canada on a five day fishing trip and it performed great. Very little if any backlash. Performed well.
tex customer : If it isn't the best, it is in the top three
Excellent baitcaster, very little tendency to backlash before you tune it to your bait. I like it much more than the Shimano Curado I have.
Mark Dunn : Smooth as silk.
Light in weight, well made. I have braided line on mine, and I fish a Texas rig with a 7' medium-heavy rod.
skuno : Tatula sv
This still my favorite reel to fish with. When I need to skip a bait under a dock, the tatula sv is my go to reel ftw.

Amazon Customer : Great
Great reel
Paul Matras : Love this reel.
Love this reel. Super smooth, great drag, all around a great reel.
Robert Nash : No service at all . Do not buy from this seller
I got a lemon.. no drag what so ever .wouldn't reel in a spinner bait. And sellnwill not stand behind it . It's a fairly expensive reel
. Do not buy from this seller . Buy from bass pro they stand behind what they sell .
Jetcat : Awesome little reel
I always saw the value in this reel‘s performance, but the other day I did something I’d been meaning to do for awhile.
I’ve got the reel on a Dobyns Fury 733c rod,
spooled with 20 lb. Sufix 832 braid with a 12 lb fluoro leader tied with an FG knot.
I tied on a 4/0 Gamagatsu Superline EWG worm hook, and set up a 5” Senko Texas rigged weightless. I stood in the driveway and made a cast with no wind, set the rod down and measured the distance.
That Weightless 5” Senko traveled 86 feet. And I duplicated that cast several times within a few inches. That’s a monster cast, and I believe there are guys out there doing better than that.
This reel is as good as advertised.
John Martins : Not the 2020 model
Be aware that this is not the 2020 model. Still a good reel though.
Peter D. : Best baitcaster I own.
Hardly any backlash and it cast really far. Love this reel.
