Answer: screw the white button on the body, you can change the hand from right to left or left to right

Answer: Certainly not the 2000. I bought the 3000 and even that is smaller than I expected. It works fine for me though and I fish mostly for bass. I’m not sure how much larger the 4000 is and maybe someone else will be able to say. I thought I would be able to attach a picture but don’t see that option.

Answer: I had the same problem and had great difficulty figuring it out. You need to pop off the pretty gold plastic near the handle base and you will be able to change the handle from there. BTW, the reel is junk and I returned it. Handle was part of the problem!

This was a lightning deal. The last thing I really need is another reel but it's difficult to pass up a good deal so I thought I'd try my luck. Cranking the handle felt so smooth with little to no play. Some reels the handle has some wiggle to it, back and forth, where it connects to the main body of the reel, the Akataka didn't have any. Because I reel with my left hand I had to switch it to the other side. Like every other reel I've owned you just unscrew the cap and swap it around. There is a plastic bushing/piece that didn't stay attached to the screw and it took me a few minutes to figure out why I couldn't get the hand into the other side. I ended up putting a small screwdriver into it and took it out, put it back on the screw and re-assembled it.
I would like some extra spools for different lines, that would be really great. Overall I really like the reel I received and may get a 2000 for my ultralight rods.

This reel is perfect. I was a little hesitant at first because of the price being so low but after getting it I realized it had features that blew away most of the reels I spent double the money on. The drag is extremely smooth. The finish looks great. It handled very large catfish without a hiccup all day. I’d compare it to one of the penn battle fishing reels. As for the finish. It looks great. Not sure how it will hold up to saltwater so I plan on rinsing it off when I go salt.

This is a really nice reel for the price,Butter smooth and well balanced. Cast like a dream and the drag is also smooth. I got the 2000 version and is perfectly balanced with my 6’8” spinning rod. I caught couple fish and the reel handle it well. Also the reel looks good too,love the white with gold accents. I spool it with 12lb mono because there is lots of weeds and lilly pads where I fish and still cast very far.

It's an inexpensive reel. Don't expect much. I used it for some in-shore fishing in Pensacola. The bail was stiff and got stuck a couple of times. It's not a very smooth reel. At least it didn't fall to pieces.

1st time i used it the drag clicker stopped working. Opened it up and checked it out and there is no fixing it. Other than that it wkrks well. Its almost better that it does not work since people cant hear it and come crowding my fishing spot.

This is a rather nice looking reel! Its action feels smooth. The only slight critique is that the bail is a little harder to set but overall a very nice reel especially for the price point. I've used this reel so far quite a few times (all saltwater.) Every time after I am done I make sure to rinse out the salt so it does not seize up inside. As of now, the reel still works as good as it did when it came out of the box. No problems casting. Main thing is this is not a super heavy duty reel and if you have the money you should invest in something a little more expensive. But if you fish casually like myself and want a cheap reel that works well this is a good option.

I rarely write reviews but had to with this one, I got the 4000 series and it’s absolutely gorgeous, and smooth in operation, can not wait to try it out, waiting for warmer weather in Upstate NY, and I plan on using it in SC Myrtle Beach in June.
