Can I order an extra spool for this?

Answer: I ordered two spools from Daiwa on the phone today. $13.08 ea. + $6 shipping. The EXLT2500D-XH Spool part # is Q38-8201

Answer: Sure you can order an extra spool. The part number is in the exploded diagram in the box. Just contact Diawa for the spool. You may try tackle warehouse, but they are hit and miss.

Answer: I believe these are made in Japan.

Does anyone know how to switch the handle on this reel

Answer: This reel has a screw-in handle , just hold the handle and turn it counter clockwise . Same for the cap on the other side . It’s a better system in my view and mostly comes with more expensive reels .

What’s the difference between 2500d and 2500d-xh?

Answer: The 2500d is a 5.2:1 gear ratio and the 2500d-xh is a 6.2:1 gear ratio

Answer: I can't tell what kind of material the washers are made of ,but I can say I've had my reel over a year and caught hundreds of fish with it and it is an exceptional drag system!

What are the 3 clear plastic washer inside the box for?

Answer: Replacement thrust washers for the spool. You probably will never need them unless you catch a lot of big fish that pull a lot of drag.

Answer: To adjust the way the line lays on the spool so that is even from top to bottom.

Would 12lb braid work fine on this?

Answer: The numbers for lbs/yards are just for capacity, so expect to put on a bit of line for your 3 lb. mono(ish) equivalent braid. I used a mono backer and 15-20lb PP braid on mine.

Answer: Absolutely, the reel has a large capacity so make sure you get a 300 yd spool.

Answer: The xh has a higher gear ratio and the spool is the same size on both models only the body is slightly larger on the 3000

Answer: I would say no. It is pretty small compared to most of the reels I have that are rated for 12lb test

Will this reel corrode?

Answer: Yes it is a freshwater reel not suitable for saltwater but it is a great reel I own two have had no issues.

Answer: Unless you use it in salt water this real will not corrode,I only use this reel for fresh water.

Answer: All things metal will corrode. But, this is not a bad reel at all. I like the higher gear ratio and the screw on crank. The knob is well secure without too much play. I don't see the need to get a more expensive model or make. With all the hype in fishing that should be dismissed, it comes down to enjoyment. I believe you will enjoy the smooth retrieve and bail operation. The drag is as good as I would want and the frame is rigid, unlike the graphite or aluminum counterparts.
