I've used this several times for light saltwater fishing and it's doing well so far. I apply a light coating of oil to the exterior of the reel with a cloth beforehand and rinse it in cool, fresh water afterwards.

GREAT REEL FOR THE MONEY!!! Put this 3000 series on my Ultralight 4'9 rod with some 6lb braid, tied on a lipless and caught this 8.3lb Florida Fat Sally! I literally was just looking for a cheap replacement reel for the rod I keep in my car. It honestly cranks nicer than some of my $100 reels. The drag is solid not as good as its more expensive counterpart but as you can see it'll do what it's meant to do. I'm going to buy a few more of these in the 2000 & 3000 series. It does come with full schematics in English so if you break anything or would like to upgrade it, it's definitely possible, it also makes for easy servicing. I would not hesitate for a minute to buy one of these.
