I originally recieved the wrong reel but after speaking with the customer service they are sending the correct reel..they were very helpful and it is a very nice reel so i didnt want a diffrent one..yes i would recommend this compNy and this reel...UPDATE.. have been using the reel for a while now and this reel is awesome and the customer service person (Tina) is great and has kept in contact making sure all is well. I was really disappointed. I ordered it for the line counter. It arrived quick but if your using it for the line counter buy something else. It arrived with glue in the dial so it was stuck on 092 it wouldn’t turn the numbers at all. Maybe as just the reel it’s good but the product for what it’s intended for TO COUNT THE LINE was broken.

He who buys too much on Amazon : How I set this up for accuracy

Accuracy: Here is how to set this up to read accurately. This is based off of Power Pro Spectra Fiber Braided Fishing Line 50lbs test (12lbs Diameter) Use the onboard line counter to load 1260 feet of line on the reel. For every 50ft of line you will lose approximately 1ft on the counter. Meaning the first 50ft will be 50ft let out, the next 50ft will read 51ft on the counter. This will increase exponentially as more line is let out and I have no desire to calculate the rest of this out. Overall this is a good reel for the price point. I did notice that the line counter sometimes does not count as the line is let out. Pressing the reset button on the counter a few times will fix this problem.

I have 4 of the 4000 Thunders and purchased two TRA's . These reels work great and are very smooth. The counters are accurate and drags work easily and will lock up quickly. All around great price for these type reels. I'm putting two TRA lefties and match them up with two Thunder II right handers all with Mariner II rods. Whether left or right handed these setups will give guest on my boat a days fun on the Chesapeake. Try these, you'll like them.
