Answer: any...20/30/40...etc....if salt fishing need more line capacity get a bigger reel..example: some guy uses 4lb mono line on a fb20 reel...you get lots of 4lb line on that reel..if reel states 6lb/180 yrds..then 4lb would be over 200 yds..if you put 9lb mono on it..see the capacity details, you get 115 yrds..so depends..fishing ponds that are small, you need maybe 100yrds max..in ocean-200 yrds to battle the fish..etc..MANY OPTIONS HERE..hope this helps..

Answer: Max drag is 15lbs, I wouldn't go over 20# test. I would strongly suggest using braid, just put a small piece of Teflon tape or electrical tape around the spool to prevent slipping before spooling it

Answer: I like the 2000 because of the balance that I got after putting it on my 6ft rod I placed it on the pointer finger at the last section of the finger thumb down on the middle finger pointer finger straight as to point and it balances meaning to me that it should cast well and feel good for bass bream and crappie so my answer is yes . I would use it for any fresh water fish . I bought 5 of the 2000's they look and feel like my Mitchell 300's. I believe that the 1000's may be smaller like the one's that are on the crappie combos that are really pricey. Buy some great price $26.00. Not bad at all nice colors.
Answer: For crappie fishing you will want to use either the 1000 or 2000 series. Both are good reels and can be used with light tackle. I would select the 2000 because it is a little more versatile. It holds more line and can be used for larger fish.

I've been very happy with these reels. However, they are much smaller then advertised. I got the 5000 for casting plugs and lures into the ocean and bay for stripers. This is much smaller then a 4000 reel that I have. I would be much more comfortable using this for steelhead or salmon with a lighter braided line.

It came on time and was packaged well.
It replaced one of my quite old Trout reels on a 4'-6" rod.
I loaded it with 4lb. Flourocarbon line. It casts great, reels in very quiet and smooth. Drag seems to function as it should.
Only complaint is I wish the bail was a little thinner in diameter, but it does the job distributing line evenly on the spool.
Will be buying more for my older Bass rod reels.

I mean, it was $19.00. I just needed a cheap micro reel for my micro-lite rod. Figured I'd take a chance. I have a $40 one from Bass Pro on my other rod and they seem to be very similar. We'll see how it holds up long term, but it does what I need and is better quality than I would have expected for the price. The only thing I'd prefer is a rubber reel handle instead of foam because when I'm catching fish every other cast my fingers get a bit gross with fish slime and it gets all over the foam. But I can switch that out on my own and that just goes to show that there is little bad to be said about this reel.

I fish at least once a week and my old Shimano open faced real was getting pretty worn out. I decided to try out one of these off brand fishing reels and I have been very impressed. It has a very smooth action on it and is very sturdy. I've caught many trout on this reel on the South Fork of the Snake River in Eastern Idaho. It even came with an extra spool soyou can easily change line strengths or types of line. I highly recommend this reel and believe you'llbe as pleasantly surprised as I was.

They are just what I ordered the only thing that I decided to do is right out of the box tighten the reversible handle screw as tight as you can get it by hand the next thing to do is tighten the drag knob at the top of the spinning reel down snuggling until you put your line on them you can adjust to what you think the pull of the fish may be. They get a 5 star from me I paired them with a 6ft lime green rods and they look great crappie, bass ,bream ,cat's . The 2000 is perfect for that . lol I found a typo on the back of the after sale card that's the only thing so buy them . happy fishing and thank's.

Not worth 300 but I'll give it a solid 80$ The handle is side switchable. The reel has a switch on the bottom to change from free spool and anti-reverse reeling. When the reel is set to anti-reverse the reel will stop on a dime with NO BACK-REEL. This is awesome. So when I want to hook a fish that fish will be hooked immediately. This is a huge deal for me as other cheap reels will back-reel, and I can't begin to tell you how many fish I've lost due to this. That and the ones that back reel tend to break when they finally do lock. Especially when a big fish is on and the extra stress the back-reel puts on the reel finishes and finally locks.
The tension adjuster on this reel like most other spinning reel is on the front end. It makes a very nice audible clicking sound when initiated. The handle made me laugh however due to it looking like a microphone. Checking, one, two, one, two Lol. That's o.k. however as it works just fine and is perfectly functional. The Microphone type foam handle is to actually give you a much better grip with your palm when you have that "big" fish on. Rather than what you could only grip with your finger-tips if you had just that little handle. I could switch it with a similar handle if I really wanted to. As for the reels performance it is smooth and fluid. The handle will turn at least three more times upon releasing the handle from reeling. It seems to be able to hold & fight a moderately sized fish (4lb bass) with no problem but I won't be able to test this out fully until summer arrives. I could barely be happier with this reel that was given to me as a gift from my mother. If I catch anything huge with it I will be sure to post a pic as well as the reels performance. Until then from what I've seen and felt with my own two hands I recommend this reel. It shouldn't disappoint.

Jami : Smooth & well balanced.
I am very happy with this reel. The bearings are smooth & it is well balanced. The 2000 series size is perfect for the kind of fishing I do. The included extra spool is good to have also. I am planning to spool one with braid for summer topwater frogging and I have the other spoiled with fluorocarbon line to handle my finesse fishing baits this fall. The drag seems to operate nicely & the adjustment works great. This reel is nicely made for the price. Very happy with it & it will be getting a lot of use before the ice over this winter.

This reel is perfect for the rod I bought for it to go on. It's very light weight and has a smooth cast. The reel seems to be made out of sturdy material and has a classy look to it. Definitely the look o was going for. It's going to be great to use on my next kayak trip!

So far so good. Paired with my 7ft ugly stick. Nice smooth spool and held up pretty well against a 3 lb catffish today. Also love the metal is color. Only my first outing with the rod/reel combo but felt pretty sturdy. UPDATE: Great reel until I accidently fell in saltwater. Now locked up and useless.
