Answer: I see no reason why the rods and reels couldn't be used in salt water. Always a good idea to rinse in fresh water after use.

Answer: This will hold over 100yds of 6lb mono. If you are looking for an ultra/micro light it slightly big. On a 5.5’ rod it would be slightly large. I use it for my 7’L with braid finesse fishing for smallmouth. Great reel though

Answer: I haven’t used those but I use braided 6 and catch my limit whenever I go trout fishing it’s a good reel I’ve snag a 20+ Lb Carp by mistake and pulled it in no problem as well
Answer: I use my Elate 1000 series spooled with Seaguar Red Label 4lb for panfish on a St Croix 7' UL. Great drag for those long runs. Perfect for UL applications. The Lux series works well also.

This reel does everything I expect a reel to do; If you spin the handle, there is little vibration. The drag is smooth. It's got a nice thick bail wire( a personal favorite of mine) and the bail trips easily. The line lays flat on the spool and it casts well. I have more expensive reels but this Cadence Elate does everything they do for a lot less $.

Garbage, not a multi purpose reel as described and advertised... Freshwater and Saltwater, bought 4 of these, returned one not used in box, other three will likely go in trash. I fish Tampa Bay, wash my equipment thoroughly everytime. After two trips two of the reels locked up and the third binds. NOT FOR SALTWATER!

So this reel has issues, the spool doesn't even fit correctly. I emailed them and after 3 days, not a peep. I then found their FB page, and there is a number. I called it, and the VM mailbox is full. Better off purchasing a reel from a real company. This is not the reel you are looking for..

Just fished this reel (the 3000) for the first time this morning - so this is obviously just an initial impression of a brand new reel. But... it casts soooo far. Seriously. I bought this almost randomly to replace a similarly priced broken spinning reel I bought two seasons ago and this is better - by far - than the other one (also a 3000) was when it was brand new. I haven't read the online manual, but it came well greased and I think that may be the key to it's success. We'll see, but I was so impressed I had to chime in.
Follow up after several weeks...

And the top, most like review looks bizarrely photoshopped to me. And a lot of the other reviews are weird. But... it's been a really good reel for me so far. Just hope I don't have to join a cult to keep it.

Not smooth at all. Felt like there was too much resistance when turning the reel. Almost like the bearings were rusty or out of tolerance and weren't rolling smoothly. Feels like I was stirring a bowl of syrup or heavy cream with a spoon. I really wanted to like this reel. I'm upset it wasn't smooth. Maybe some people can live with it, but if your reel isn't silky smooth you'll miss a lot of bites, believe it or not. It really affects the sensitivity of your rod setup. I know this from many years of experience with all types of reels.

Dex B : A lot of wind knots
I got a lot of wind knots with this reel. I ended up returning it. I’ve spoiled 6 reels this year and this one was the only one I kept getting wind knots. I put 4lb mono line on it. The same line I used for my other ones. I then soaked the spool in warm water after spoiling the reel, like I do with every reel I spool. I’d get 1-2 wind knots every time I took this reel out. I ended up swapping this for a Lew’s and have had better luck.

I have not had a chance to fish it yet but it seems very smooth. Only negative so far is you have to really crank down on the handle screw to remove the play from the handle and I worry I will strip the threads. I will edit this review after fishing the reel. Seller sent another reel when they heard this one was not perfect. Great customer service.

These fish are 18” to 24”. I caught them with the elate reel. The reel is very smooth. It can hold 300 yards of 10 lb braid. I will definitely order this reel again.
