Answer: I see no reason why the rods and reels couldn't be used in salt water. Always a good idea to rinse in fresh water after use.

Answer: This will hold over 100yds of 6lb mono. If you are looking for an ultra/micro light it slightly big. On a 5.5’ rod it would be slightly large. I use it for my 7’L with braid finesse fishing for smallmouth. Great reel though

Right from the start, as soon as I opened the box, I noticed how nice, solid and rugged this spinning reel looked. It has a different look than some of my other Cadence reels.
Before I put line on the reel, I noticed how smooth and effortlessly it would spin. I had purchased the Cadence Elate 4000 spinning reel, so I put on about 300yds of 8lb monofilament line and attached it to one of my Cadence CR5 poles. Then took it out to a small lake to test it out.
Right away from my first cast I noticed how nice it cast. I did notice the Elate has a smaller rubber like feel to the end of the crank where my other Cadence reels have a larger cork like feel to the end of the handle.
Setting the drag is easy just like any of the Cadence spinning reels. Reeling in the line is extremely smooth and quiet. In some cases you can crank the reel and it feels like it just wants to keep spinning by itself.
The reel does feels light and it has now become my favorite Cadence reel. I can’t wait to order a smaller version and pair it up with a smaller pole to make myself a nice trout fishing setup.

Garbage, not a multi purpose reel as described and advertised... Freshwater and Saltwater, bought 4 of these, returned one not used in box, other three will likely go in trash. I fish Tampa Bay, wash my equipment thoroughly everytime. After two trips two of the reels locked up and the third binds. NOT FOR SALTWATER!

This is the 4th spinning reel I have bought from Cadence. If you want a smooth lightweight reel I would highly recommend their reels and rods. I primarily fish panfish in small lakes and ponds and these reels and rods ( I have 4 of there rods),the reels have never disappointed or failed for the fishing that I do.
This company has excellent customer service as well.

surpringly light weight for a 3000 series reel, the casting distance is much further than reels i have that are 2x the money, only used it 4x so durability is yet to be seen.

I absolutely LOVE this reel! The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to tie the line on because of the detailing. It's light weight, casts great and retrieve is very smooth. The line went on perfect the first time, no need for the included spacers. This is my 5th Cadence reel and I always recommend them to friends.

Been using this for mainly small-mouth bass and walleye The product is very smooth and the drag is perfect for its size. The drag has a very fine adjustment and tons of power. I have the 2000 model and it holds 150 yards of 15lb j braid perfect. Can't comment on the durability so far but from the initial testing I have seems like it should last a long time. I have 7 different cadence products and not one issue with any of them. They are an excellent value!

So this reel has issues, the spool doesn't even fit correctly. I emailed them and after 3 days, not a peep. I then found their FB page, and there is a number. I called it, and the VM mailbox is full. Better off purchasing a reel from a real company. This is not the reel you are looking for..
