Answer: 150 series is right handed, 151 series is left handed.

What’s the difference between the regular slx and the slx xt? what’s the xt?
Answer: The XT has an additional bearing, and an upgraded braking system. Go to You Tube, and search Ladybass for her video where she compares all three SLX reels. I’m ordering two more of the XT reels today. Pay attention to the three different gear ratios they offer as well as left or right hand retrieve. Get at least one today.
Answer: The SLX XT has an additional bearing and Shimano SVS externally adjustable brake system compared to the standard SLX which is a fine reel itself without the additional features of the XT. The SLX has the Shimano VBS brake system which are adjusted by flipping the side cover up and setting the brake pins manually to suit the conditions and which works just fine.

Answer: I would always pay attention to your spool tension knob make sure it is adjusted to your bait weaght but check out debos fishing on YouTube and he can get you rocking man

Answer: You should’ve been able to to tell by the price, if it’s $99 then it’s the slx, $129 then it the slx xt

Answer: Depends on your budget but you can’t go wrong with the shimano slx rod. 7’ mh is a good all purpose rod

Answer: XT is a more compact size than the standard SLX. I own all three models. The standard SLX is the largest model. If you’re wanting bigger profile reels, probably should check out Diawa. Performance of shimano is unmatched though.

Answer: Forgiving no just a strong body reel that wont flex because its not plastic so the reel is much more sturdy.it feels not like plastic

Answer: No. It means it’s higher quality and more sensitive to fish strikes. If you are concerned about backspooling it has good brake system to adjust appropriately.

What’s the difference between the slx xt and the regular slx?
Answer: XT has SVS Infinity, Shimano's centrifugal spool braking system you can adjust from a dial located on the side plate. It is not magnetic braking system which limits your casting distance. The regular SLX reel has Shimano's Variable Braking System that has to be adjusted by removing the spool from the reel. Both are superior to magnetic brakes in terms of castability. The XT's feature is more convenient to adjust.

Answer: It is not called a BFS reel in the descriptions. However I use one for Ned rigs, 1/15 oz Ned head jig on 10lb Seagar Red Label with a 7’-1” Falcon Clear Coastal medium heavy rod.
Answer: Nope, you should be looking at the Adlebaran BFS XG or Scorpion BFS XG. You may be able to find an aftermarket BFS spool but I'm not familiar with one for the SLX. Hope this helps.

Answer: Neither, get the one that's 7.2, i have two and they are perfect for most applications.

What rod can I use for both Flounder and Bass?
Answer: I used to fish for flounder as a kid off the Hudson River in New York. Now I mostly fish for bass on lakes though. I think a Medium heavy/Fast rod should do for both. I would go with a 7-4" or 7'-6". But that is a personal preference. The longer the rod, the farther you will cast. The shorter the rod, the more accurate your cast will be.
Answer: This works for bass. I’ve never caught a flounder.

This is a very good reel. Decided to get left hand retrieve to be the same as my spinning reel. Never understood why baitcasters are tight hand retrieve for a right handed caster. You won't be disappointed with this reel.

Waited to leave a review till I had a chance to fully test this reel, and boy am I happy with the performance of this light weight reel. I now have it set for almost full free spinning with little braking and its so very easy to control, back lash only happens if I really mess up and hit an object on the way out. That's my fault and all reels will do the same. otherwise with little breaking I have full control over this reel and when needed I can make a quick adjustment to help with braking in tight areas. Best reel I've used in a very long time. do yourself a favor and give this one a try.

I got this and it is really good but when it said impact resistant that isn’t 100% accurate. My reel is only like 2 weeks old and it was leaning against my camper and it fell and put 2 scrapes on it. They arent that big so I am surprised and I wouldn’t expect it to be 100% impact resistant. 4.5/5 awesome reel

It's OK it won't take too much line I don't recommend this for saltwater fishing even to catch strippers or anything like that.. The reel is so tiny it barely takes any of the spool. Especially heavier Test Or braided line. Actually I wouldn't recommend this for anything but 6 pound test. I've actually been extremely unhappy with this reel.

The Shimano slx Xt,is an excellent reel. Have no issues with that. What I do have issues with is,I ordered a 6.3:1 ratio reel and got a 8.3:1 ratio reel. The plastic packing said 6.3:1 but you can clearly see on the box that it’s a 150xg and not a just the 150 model. So we will see if the reel I get to replace it is a 6.3:1 ratio reel. I’m sure it was just a mistake,but an annoying one.

He is having me mail the reel to his attention and will make sure it is repaired and in good order and returned. Extremely helpful and nice.

Just awesome addition to the Shimano baitcasting reel family. They cast a mile and are very accurate. Solid frame and great engineering behind this beautiful reel. I can feel the fish bite right on the reel frame. Very sensitive.
The breaking system is well designed and the spool tension is easy to setup for whatever bait you are using. I am quickly becoming a Shimano fan.

These Shimano SLX reels and rods are some of the best fishing gear I have come across in a long time. The quality is amazing at this price point. The reels are tournament caliber and the rods are super sensitive and strong. It's obvious that Shimano is trying to grab as much of the $100-200 fishing gear market as possible, and they are doing a great job at it.
The breaking system is well designed and the spool tension is easy to setup for whatever bait you are using. I am quickly becoming a Shimano fan.

I've used Shimano exclusively since the original Curados came out and have always been very satisfied with them. I bought the $99 version of this reel for my wife and we liked it so much that I went back and bought the next grade up also. It didn't get used till several months later. The reel did not feel as nice as the first one, and then a couple of months after that, the reel just quit working. We opened it up and found the bearings frozen and corrosion throughout the reel. All my equiptment gets a good flushing after every use and a complete teardown/cleaning at least once a year. the original reel is still perfect. The return window is past, but I wanted to put this review up so others don't get jacked like I did.
