Answer: I have the 6000 and i have it spooled with 80 lb braid and it can fit almost all of the 150 yard spool

Answer: Its a beefy reel so you definitely want something sturdy enough to handle the big game fish. Your budget is the limit but the ocean is your oyster ???? I have mine attached to a big salt water trophy pole and love it.

Answer: Honestly, I wouldn't chance it. I own the 5000 series and it's only rated at 22lbs. I caught a 30lb carp and it was quite a task. Gar can reach 200+ lbs so I would use something a little more heavy duty. Something made for salt water.

Answer: It is not loud at all. I use bait alarms if I am not close to my poles.

Answer: One is simply a backup spool.
Answer: Some manufacturers are offering a long distance spool with greater line capacity and a shorter distance spool with less capacity. The spool with less capacity could also be used for braided line. One is often made out of aluminum and the other is composite. I do not know for sure, but that would be my best advice.
Answer: One holds more line. How much line do you need? If you're not deep sea fishing, you probably don't need the one that holds more line.

Answer: How big of a fish are you going after? 7ft is a small rod probably with a light action tip unless you have an ugly stick. You want a smaller size for your small rod. I have the next to the biggest you can get attached to a salt water trophy pole. This reel is incredibly smooth and strong. Definitely a great deal for the price. I was planning on using this reel for Carp fishing. I have other bait runner reels but I wanted an extra one without spending big dollars. At first glance it appears like a solid reel. Unfortunately when testing the bait-runner lever, it would not return to the main line spool drag. It was just making a clicking sound. You could manually do it but that’s not how it is supposed to work. A defective one I guess.

Works smooth for catfish and bottom fishing, bait runner is a nice option for circle hooks and drifting in the boat. The skirt on the bottom of the spool may be a tad bit short line seems to get caught and twisted under the spool, it could be a line memory issue. I just replaced my line with a better mono and will update if it fixes the problem.

Amazing with 50 pound braid no problems join line out of the spool. I use it for carp, and bottom fishing in bays, I rinse it is after salt water use and haven't had any problems.

I do professional/semiprofessional regional catfish tournaments and I do not like baitcasters! These reels, the 6000, 7000, and the monster 9000 can handle any fish of size, the bait drag is amazing, even landing an 80LB Bluecat. The bait feed works extremely well on lakes and rivers a. to let the fish take it and b to let your line drift in the river. I was scoffed at when I first started using them but nobody laughs anymore and the price is unbeatable anywear.
