Answer: I have the 6000 and i have it spooled with 80 lb braid and it can fit almost all of the 150 yard spool

Answer: Its a beefy reel so you definitely want something sturdy enough to handle the big game fish. Your budget is the limit but the ocean is your oyster ???? I have mine attached to a big salt water trophy pole and love it.

Answer: Honestly, I wouldn't chance it. I own the 5000 series and it's only rated at 22lbs. I caught a 30lb carp and it was quite a task. Gar can reach 200+ lbs so I would use something a little more heavy duty. Something made for salt water.

Answer: One is simply a backup spool.
Answer: Some manufacturers are offering a long distance spool with greater line capacity and a shorter distance spool with less capacity. The spool with less capacity could also be used for braided line. One is often made out of aluminum and the other is composite. I do not know for sure, but that would be my best advice.
Answer: One holds more line. How much line do you need? If you're not deep sea fishing, you probably don't need the one that holds more line.

Answer: How big of a fish are you going after? 7ft is a small rod probably with a light action tip unless you have an ugly stick. You want a smaller size for your small rod. I have the next to the biggest you can get attached to a salt water trophy pole. This reel is incredibly smooth and strong. Definitely a great deal for the price. Look, "bait runner" spinning reels are SUPPOSED to have a rear drag that "clicks" fairly loud. This has the rear drag/front drag switch BUT the "clicker" is almost silent. The reel feels cheap, of course it was a cheap price. SO in order to use it I have to buy electronic bite alarms. SAVE a few bucks and get something a little better.

Well the first catfish I caught with this reel was a 35lb flathead. It did not skip a beat. It was smoother then my $150 okuma reel. The 2nd catfish I hooked was much smaller. Probably about 12 lbs. I almost had it to the bank and the arm that attaches to the rod broke and the reel went into the water. I have had zero issues with my sougayilang baitcaster or my bass spinning reel. Not sure what happened here. I hope it was just a defect because this reel was smooth.

I have caught multiple 10 plus pound carp and a 15 pounder with this reel. The reel feels VER smooth, and holds a good amount of line. I have 20lb mono on it. The dual drag system works great, when carp take the corn the spoil starts running and I can pick it up and just sy at t reeling and the front drag will engage automatically. Definitely a strong reel and had no trouble getting these fish in. For the price, this is deserving of 5 stars.

Pros: the exterior seems solidly constructed (haven't yet pulled them apart to examine/service the inner workings); spool comfortably takes 300yds of .23mm braided line; baitrunner mechanism works well; good price to use as a utility reel to save the life of more expensive reels
Cons: the spool skirt needs to extend a little lower as tangles beneath the spool can occur with slack line at the reel, particularly with monofilament (we all love untangling 20 yds of line wrapped round the spool axle at the bank, so the makers added that feature gratis); an option to buy with a spare spool would be useful; drag click is a little quieter than some reels, but this isn't a major issue for me as mostly I use electronic alarms

I bought this reel to review. I used it this weekend on pier fishing for mackerel, the fishing was good. Until when you need every equipment to be reliable when the "mack attack" comes! This reel failed! during the initial burst of mack attack! The spool had an extra piece underneath the spool that is connected to nothing this caused my line to keep on getting inside the spool gear snagging my line causing a delay on getting back and cast the line again during the mack attack. The line snag inside the gear kept on going until I am tired of fixing it and just get another rod and reel. This reel is NOT RECOMMENDED - Seller please do not offer to provide a replacement just to get five star rating as it will go to a garbage. Thanks
