Answer: I have a pair of these as my go to bass fishing reels. I have 12 pound mono on one with my 6' medium rod and 20 pound mono on my 6.5' medium heavy rod. I've only had two line breaks - both on the 12 pound with huge pickerel slicing it right at the boat. The reels are great with the best and easiest drag setup of any spincast reels I've ever owned. And that's a lot of reels.

Answer: Absolutely. I’ve never used one of mine on the bottom. I don’t know how you would push the button to release the line. Give the Pflueger reels a look. After getting one of them I’ve never purchased another Abumatic.

Answer: No it’s not reversible, I have 4 of them the oldest is 15 years can’t beat them

What's the difference between the 170 and 170-C?

Answer: Don't really known but 170 looks & feels good in the hand but has a very poor drag. sold mine for 5.00 dollars

Not very happy with this product. Casting is ify, and if you do get a cast. Its not very far. Even swithched the line. No change. Dissapointed. And not worth the cost.

This is a very good spin-cast reel, I owned one back in the 60's and fished with it for over 30 years. I didn't even know they stil made it until I saw one in Bass pro shop an bought it, now I have 4.

I am having a hard time trying the pull the line back once I have tossed it.

Could have been a great real but the China shows through in spades. Poor workmanship causes this real to fail if you have a fish on because the locking mechanism for the pick up pin's tolerance is off. If a fish is on then the pickup pin retreats into the bell housing and your line lets loose.

This is one spin cast reel which is saltwater rated and perfect for redfish and trout but the poor workmanship is a very bad issue which makes the reel fail at the critical time (when a fish is on).

My hubby bought this for me after trying 2 other brands... It's fantastic!! Works as intended with none of the line becoming tangled inside (we had this issue with two other more expensive reels)... Many sunfish and walleyes have been caught on this in the past month... We will definitely buy this again when the kids need new reels!
