These reels hold up incredibly well. I only fish saltwater and it’s extremely hard on fishing gear. I can spend twice as much money on a reel that works great in the beginning but lasts half as long.

CT Mom : Lightweight and good drag

I have about 10 Shimano and Daiwa reels, this one is no better no worse, between those two manufacturers they have the technology down pretty well. This is a very lightweight / small footprint reel for a 3000, and I love it. It spins well, it has as good a drag as can be expected from felt pads, which is fine by me for freshwater. I would not use this reel in the salt, though.
