Answer: Yes. I have been using this reel a lot this weekend and for the price, I would say this is a pretty da.mn good reel. I'm definitely impressed by it. Instant anti-reverse is on there and works great.

Answer: I don't see any numbers after or before the dk, I don't see the dk either but the reel is a great deal for fresh water or light salt water...good buy, the fish won't know the difference either

Answer: Personally, if you're looking for a reel within this price range for trout fishing, I would go with the Shimano Sienna 1000FD. I am very disappointed with the Sougayilang, as it does not crank smoothly. I have to keep checking whether I have line caught in it, that's what it feels like. I fish to relax and not to get pissed of at my reels.

Answer: I would go wth the DK2000 and 8 lb braided line. You will be amazed how the reel performs. Good luck!!

Answer: The reel I purchased had no flaws. It retrieved with ease... too heavy a line being used?

Answer: That's due to the bearings seal. I'll suggest to squeez in some muscles until the seals break in.

Answer: I have never caught a salmon but a nice slot red fish will put up a good fight and it works well for that. i have 2 of them but i have to warn you that on the first use the knob on the handle fell off into the water and is gone forever and not replaceable but the second one has been good so for. Conclusion: For the cost of the reel i would take my chances. Living The Salt Life!

In the past I've bad reels the the bar that holds the line in place (so as not to tangle) ..... how does this particular reel compare?

Answer: The reel works well. Usually Line tangles come from twist which can be caused by how you load the line onto the spool, or by a bait that rotates in the water. Also some types of line have more shape memory than others.

I would buy a low end abu Garcia,quantum, Lew's, or anything but this reel. Sloppy right out of the box. Nothing feels tight or balanced. Don't know how it got the good reviews. Anti reverse broke after the 3rd time using it.

PM3 : Has major design flaws

Have used this reel over 10 times surf fishing. Has performed fine up until this week, then the anti-reverse stopped working. Took it apart to clean and oil it in case that was the issue. Turns out the roller bearing associated with this feature has metal rollers, but plastic races. It seems that the metal rollers have worn enough of the plastic to be jamming, preventing the internal anti-reverse lever from moving easily keeping it in the off position. I cut the internal anti-reverse lever so the reel always has anti-reverse on. Hopefully this will allow me to continue using the reel since the rest of it seems to be working OK.

One other not so nice "feature" is that the drag seems to become lighter with use. I find I have to check and sometimes readjust the drag every 10 casts or so.

Update: Used 15 times now and the crank has gotten very hard to turn. I wash it in clear water after each use so it should not be corrosion. Something is jamming up inside. My other Sougayilang reel has been used a lot more and is still working well. Think I'll not buy another of these.

I have been fishing for years. . . started as a kid with a Zebco 880. I have done everything from spincast, spinning, you name it I have tried it. The most expensive reel I have ever owned was about $90, and this one blows it away. I prefer the spinning just because I am usually using top water baits that are extremely light. I only do fresh water fishing so I can't speak to salt water but this reel is awesome. Absolutely beautiful reel, I get so many questions about where I got it. It is extremely smooth, I use 8lb test fireline and it works awesome. The seller I bought from was YunNong, and they were awesome. . . got it in two days, packaging was immaculate. Would definitely buy this item again.

Its a nice looking rod and its pretty smooth at first but not sure how well it will hold upover time, probably not very long. Has alot more plastic than expected including the seat, the reel is not made entirely out of metal as some reviews state.

The 12+1 bearing thing is as far as i can tell a description of a single bearing, 9 balls, inner race, outer race, perhaps a seal on 1 side, that's 12, shim as the +1? I opened this real up and even the parts breakdown only show 6 bearings. body and spool frame are all some type of plastic. It does have a metal handle. Over all for a 15 dollar reel it looks nice, spins rather smoothly and will probably hold up fine on an ultra light rig which is what I got it for {DK 1000}. Also, the carbon fiber drag pads are felt, which I guess felt is a carbon based substance, Sooo there's that. I was a bit put off with the intention that this thing had 13 bearings, carbon fiber drag pads and an alloy frame. @ 15 dollars, its an ok deal at best.

Smooth casting and reeling of the line. Very quite when trolling. I use a 40# braided on it with no difficulties to report. The only problem I have is the locking mechanism the handle, it could be a bit better made. Couple of times it unlocked while I was reeling in. Bit of a nuisance, but I'll figure a way to make it more reliable and let you know what I did later on.

Otherwise, for the price and overall quality of the reel, I'm happy with it.
