Answer: Personally, if you're looking for a reel within this price range for trout fishing, I would go with the Shimano Sienna 1000FD. I am very disappointed with the Sougayilang, as it does not crank smoothly. I have to keep checking whether I have line caught in it, that's what it feels like. I fish to relax and not to get pissed of at my reels.

Answer: I would go wth the DK2000 and 8 lb braided line. You will be amazed how the reel performs. Good luck!!

Answer: That's due to the bearings seal. I'll suggest to squeez in some muscles until the seals break in.

Answer: I have never caught a salmon but a nice slot red fish will put up a good fight and it works well for that. i have 2 of them but i have to warn you that on the first use the knob on the handle fell off into the water and is gone forever and not replaceable but the second one has been good so for. Conclusion: For the cost of the reel i would take my chances. Living The Salt Life!

Answer: The reel works well. Usually Line tangles come from twist which can be caused by how you load the line onto the spool, or by a bait that rotates in the water. Also some types of line have more shape memory than others.

Smooth casting and reeling of the line. Very quite when trolling. I use a 40# braided on it with no difficulties to report. The only problem I have is the locking mechanism the handle, it could be a bit better made. Couple of times it unlocked while I was reeling in. Bit of a nuisance, but I'll figure a way to make it more reliable and let you know what I did later on.

Otherwise, for the price and overall quality of the reel, I'm happy with it.

I would buy a low end abu Garcia,quantum, Lew's, or anything but this reel. Sloppy right out of the box. Nothing feels tight or balanced. Don't know how it got the good reviews. Anti reverse broke after the 3rd time using it.

After 4 or 5 times using this reel the bail wire came out of it's holder. Tried to fix it but would not stay in place. Buy a better brand like Diawa or Penn next time.

You get what you pay for. Good reel for the cost. My son love's it and if it breaks I won't be out too much. Great starter reels too. We have several neighborhood kids over fishing and they aren't the easiest on gear. We lend these out and let them go. All the parts and pieces work and if we get 2-3 seasons out of it we'll be happy.

Upgrade your drag discs to carbon fiber discs. Remove side handle locking screw with a 3mm screw & tiny washer because current 1 has a plastic cover that will bust off. I've landed 35" Snook & 26" Jack crevalle on this reel on a medium action elite series2 ugly stick. I've been using this set up for several months. This has replaced my 8' Shimano Terra Mar with Shimano Nasci as my go-to rod.

Looks fantastic, but very low grade. Not salt water comparable. Quite a bit of rust, and malfunction after only a half dozen uses. All my tackle gets washed in fresh water after each use. I recommend this for fresh water only.

Andy M : Decent reel for the price, but not suitable for the saltwater

I was initially very happy with the reel. It is very light, looked pretty and reeled very smooth. Unfortunately, the reeling performance quickly deteriorated and after 5-6 outings the reel became pretty useless. I took it apart and found significant corrosion inside. Fortunately, Amazon customer service resolved the issue quickly and efficiently, refunding the purchase. The seller was also responsive. I think indicating suitability for saltwater was a mistake. The reel is not sealed, allowing the saltwater to get in, and do the damage. It might be a decent low-price freshwater reel, also a safe bet considering Amazon return/replacement policies.

Update: received a replacement from the seller. Reels as smoothly as $100 reels. Hopefully, with proper care and freshwater only use it will last longer than the first one.

I have been fishing for years. . . started as a kid with a Zebco 880. I have done everything from spincast, spinning, you name it I have tried it. The most expensive reel I have ever owned was about $90, and this one blows it away. I prefer the spinning just because I am usually using top water baits that are extremely light. I only do fresh water fishing so I can't speak to salt water but this reel is awesome. Absolutely beautiful reel, I get so many questions about where I got it. It is extremely smooth, I use 8lb test fireline and it works awesome. The seller I bought from was YunNong, and they were awesome. . . got it in two days, packaging was immaculate. Would definitely buy this item again.

So I bought two more since then I have returned one it stoped working and now I have a problem with its partner that I bought at the same time. The anti reverse will not lock and now the reel is useless. You pay for what you get it works great for a few months and then it's gone to the trash!!! Good luck if you get theme. I assume if you used theme in freshwater they would last longer as far as salt water they are no good!!!

I have purchased 2-2000 reels and 3-3000 reels and I am finding that the weakest and most problem part of this reel could be the handle. The reel itself is very good and is more then anticipated for the price. Other than the weakness in the handle design this is a very well put together reel.

I decided to order a couple of Sougayilang Fishing Reels to see if they were anything to speak of in conversations about other good reels out there. So when others speak about their Shimano, Penn and Other more noted reels, I could chime in on the conversations. When I first started looking for a "new" reel to consider, the many multi bearing offerings caught my eye. Wow! More is better. Right? Well, if the quality of a reel is a bearing or two more, then some of the Sougayilang reels with 11, 12 or 13 bearings, must be the best. I won't say that at this point but drag out your last less expensive reel and we can't give it a try. I have reels that will barely turn now just planted there on a rod that needs to be bent. This reel is as sturdy as any 1000 series I have held or fished, so I'll need to strap it on a give it two or three years before it can earn a fifth star in this review thing. I am impressed at this time. I like it.
