Answer: Without taking it completely apart, can’t tell. However, this is one of the most smoothest reels I have ever used.

Is this a cadence clone?

Answer: My feeling is that it most likely is. As you well know one large manufacturer produces different models by adding and subtracting basic parts with 2 or 3 fundamental designs. I recently purchased 4 size 4000 spinning reels

Answer: It is possible. They look very similar in many respects. I have never owned a cadence so I cannot say definitely it is a clone. Sorry

Answer: Sorry don't know all the specifications of the Penn's 8000 battle to compare the two but I know Apex 4000 capacity held a good amount of 20 lb test braid and Cass very well

Answer: Much lighter than a penn and more of a fresh water reel, penns are heavy more suitable for saltwater usage.

how does one release the spool from the body?

Answer: The top of the spool, drag control, unscrews to release the spool.

Answer: Turn the drag knob counter clockwise while pulling up on the the spool until it comes off.

Answer: You unscrew the drag cap on top of spool and pull it off.

Answer: On the Reel where you increase the drag turn the knob counterclockwise all the way off

Is this reel sealed for saltwater use?

Answer: This reel may take some splashes but not sealed for dunking in any water.

Is the carbon rotor preferable to aluminum?

Answer: Carbon will give you a longer life and more durability. But really not as big of a difference with fishing reals. I would go carbon for say Ocean-based. Hope it helps

Is it suitable for saltwater fishing?

My handle broke...how do i get it fixed or replaced?

Answer: I had an issue with my reel. i sent an email to tempo customer service. They responded my inquiry so quickly and sent me a new reel.

Answer: Do not have an idea. Take it to a fishing department of a store or write the manufacturer.

it is very smooth and is a good reel. There is one thing I believe should be considered. The top of the spool should be a hair smaller to allow free movement of the line. I have 2 of these and one winds where the majority of line is at the bottom and gradually winds to the top which works perfect. the other winds the same up and down the spool and binds when casting. But I do enjoy fishing with them

Very nice and smooth fishing reel. It looks very small but works very good. I was surprised by how much I like it. I put it on my old medium heavy rod and it is great for white bass and it works very well

This is a beautiful reel..The 2000 size is small, light and very tight. The 11 BB's did not produce as smooth a performance as I would have liked. The drag feels very good and there are 3 carbon fiber pads to go along with the stainless washers. The anti-reverse is exact with no delay. I would like to know how to determine if it is magnesium. It is metallic and light so I assume it is. I did not open this reel to check the BB count but will in the future and will let you know
There is no owner's manual and the internet sites do not produce much. It is of Chinese manufacture.

During the following week I tried very hard to establish the ball bearing count and contacted a seller on Ebay who wanted $103 for the same reel and owner's manual. The reel is very tight and I could not take it apart completely and hence could not establish the BB count. I was never able to connect to the company. Despite the 20% discount which brought the reel size 2000 to about $60, I returned it. Too many questions for not an insignificant sum. I was sad to see it go

I've had mixed experiences with Tempo products, but this reel is hands down excellent. It is extremely lightweight. If you are in need of a light reel to match a rod, this is it. I've been using the 2000 size, mostly for walleye and it's done great. The internals are quality, design is good and the frame is outstanding. The drag is fine as well. It's handled a surprise musky and a few surprise big catfish.
