DURABLE: The Thunder LS II is based upon a powerful star drag foundation, supported by heavy duty brass gears and a full Carbon drag system. With the ability to output 40 lbs. of drag, this particular reel model is incredibly powerful. As an additional benefit, the Aluminum ratcheting drag star enables trolling fisherman to set precise drag setting.
EASY OPERATION: One of the absolute best things about this trolling reel is the fact that it fits so comfortably in your hand, which is great for anglers who plan on staying out on the water for a long time. There is also a very smooth drag, which is obviously one of the more important things to consider when shopping for a fishing reel of any kind. The anti-reverse roller bearings work very well, and the overall build is exceptionally solid. If you want a durable reel, this is the one for you
FASTER SET-UP: Each time you check your lure, or better yet, reel in a fish, you'll want to get your line back into the strike zone as quick as possible. If the fish struck at 100' of line out behind the boat, just flip the reel into free-spool and let line spool out until the line counter hits 100'. This is much faster and more accurate than pulling line off the reel by hand and counting number of pulls.
WORTHFUL-It may not be the very best reel on the market, but you will most defiantly get your money’s worth out of this one. From your pals at fishing tips guru we are always wishing you the best on the water and happy and safe fishing experience.
THREE-YEARS Worry-Free Service: This reel is backed by a three-year limited Worry-Free Service, so you will be able to get any replacements or repairs you need within this period of time.

Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reel
Line counters provide a number of benefits while trolling:
Stay in the Strike Zone-The biggest benefit of this reels is it means you'll be spending more time with more rigs right in the sweet spot.
Depth Control-If you know exactly how much line you have let out behind the boat, it becomes much easier to gauge what depth your lure is running at.
Trolling Spread Management-When trolling with multiple lines behind the boat, staggering the amount of line on adjacent rigs can help reduce the number of crossed lines and tangles.
Easier for the New Guy-Your new crew can be setting lines back while you drive the boat. Its also easier to glance over and double check where they set the line, which is not possible if he was counting pulls.
This is why guides will almost always use line counter fishing reels when pulling a trolling spread.
This is very helpful when fighting multiple fish in the boat at once. With line counters, you'll know which angler is likely to have the first fish boat side and ready for the net.

Questions about Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reel Conventional Level Wind Fishing Reel
Q:
Can you pier fish for king mackerel
Answer: Yes you can, use 65 pound power pro with 40 pound fluro carbon leader! I caught 75 pound blue fin tuna on this reel and I was curious to see how much line they ran off when I hooked the fish. I set the dragbat 20 pounds using a fish scale to set the drag. The average blue fin in the 50 to 75 pound range ran off 120 feet of line. The reel held up fine and the drags were smooth after 30 fish!!
Answer: yes there really great reels for every type of fishing
Answer: If your looking for a reel you can cast with, forget it! If you not casting it would be fine.
Answer: I guess you can
Q:
Can this be attached to any Rod ?
Answer: probably any standard fishing rod, mine has been on 3 different poles so far
Answer: Yes
Q:
Where is my order?
Q:
What’s a good cat fishing reel
Answer: A reel with great drag. When you hook up with a 20-30 lb catfish you will be fighting for a while. Good comfortable handle. You need something to hold on too. Good braided line also. Make sure your reels can handle braided line,80lb. You will need it to pull the big ones out of the trees, snags,or whatever.
Answer: I use it for striper and catfish... no issues...
Q:
Does this have automatic spool engage when you start reeling? Or do you manually have to flip the lever?
Answer: on mine you have to manually flip lever

Answer: It does automatically engage.

Is this a metal frame
Answer: Yes and it works very good for the price you pay for it I used it on a rock fishing trip and it held up excellent
Answer: Yes
Q:
Would this be a good reel for fresh water bass?
Answer: This reel is a monster for freshwater bass fishing. It weighs 1.25lb/0.5kg and would tire you out FAST casting. It's intended for monster catfish or for saltwater gamefish like tuna, marlin, wahoo where you cast a few times and fight a long time. For freshwater bass, you're looking for a small baitcasting reel like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sougayilang-Baitcasting-Stainless-Bearings-Magnetic/dp/B07GTX2ZM2
Answer: Yes,this reel can be used in both freshwater or saltwater,When using this trolling fishing reel, you can cover more distance than you would with a spinning or casting reel.

Q:
What are the internals made of plastic or metal

Q:
The LS2 4000 does the spool engage when you start to reel it in or do you have to flip the lever there's people on here that say both which is it
Answer: You have to flip the lever. For example to cast the reel you have to flip the leverr then you cast then you have to flip the lever
Answer: I want to be absolutely clear on this - I have the LS 30R model and you must flip the lever to engage the handle to reel in line. Picture wise both models look exactly the same.
Answer: One needs to move the lever
Answer: U have to flip it
Q:
i ordered the wrong reel rel i want the right hand but mistakently ordered the let hand can i exchange for the right hand reel
Answer: You would have to contact the seller.

Answer: No to large. Good for trolling for muskie or northern
Answer: Lol probably be over kill the reel is a nice big size I think it has a drag pull/weight of like 36lbs or something I used mine to catch 65lbs halibut and some salmon

Q:
Can you fish from shore with this?
Answer: This counter is used for a drop line or trolling style of fishing . I don't not believe it would allow you to cast your line into the water from shore .

Can this be attached to "fiblink" big game fishing rod?
Answer: I wouldn't buy this reel mine broke within minutes of opening the box and taking it out. All I did was turn the crank handle and it broke right in my hand. Answer: No
Q:
What is the spool capacity?
Answer: 325 yards of braided 65 pound test!!
Q:
what is the gear ratio?
Answer: 4.1:1
Q:
How much 100lb braid will this hold? Big enough reel for 50lb fish?
Answer: Number 1, if you need 100 pound braid, you need a much bigger reel than this reel!! Number 2, it will handle 50 pound fish with 60 pound braid and 40 pound flurocarbon leader, I just caught 25 yellow fin tuna in the 30 to 50 pound range!!
Answer: It holds over 450 feet of 80 lb braid. If 100 lb braid is about 20% more volume than 80 lb braid then 80% of 450 is about 360 ft. However 80 lb braid should easily hold a 50 lb fish. Tight lines!
Answer: 100 lbs I don't know mine is set up for 40 lbs in which it holds 100 yrds of 10 lb backing and 150 yrds 40 lb braid

Answer: It is not made for casting, but it will cast 25 to 50 feet!!

Q:
What is the difference between the 3000 or 4000 reel?
Answer: 4000 size is larger than 3000, with greater line capacity

Q:
Is the line counter in feet?

Q:
What is the line retrieval per turn?
Answer: 5.3 to 1
Product reviews of Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reel Conventional Level Wind Fishing Reel
Fishman : Rockfish killer
Need a reel to hold enough line and know how deep is fishing spot. This reel is perfect for bottom fishing. It can hold 450+ feet 80# braid line. The middle of the reel’s center axis is coarse so as to increase friction with the line. Line counter is very helpful to understand the depth of the fishing spot. Level wind feature helps to make the line evenly spreaded. I could not cast very far with this reel but it meets my expectations.
Kevin : Nice reel but cheaply made
Looks like a very well built item and good value. Will be christing this weekend 20 miles out in the Atlantic. Well after testing this reel looks good but do not use in deep waters trying to bring a 5 lb fish from 100+ feet. Probably work pulling SeaBass up from 75 feet but not very sturdy
Dan : Double failure
I bought (2) reels. Upon the first day of use both line counters on both reels failed. No Product support although product support is listed on Amazon but the link fails. So although the price looks good 75% of the reason I bought them was for the line counter. I will wait to see if the seller responds.
Rover Rover : Uneven Line Spooling
This reel works well and if you're looking for a cheap reel this one will work. I had no problem bringing up ling cod from over 200 feet. My complaint is it does NOT feed the line on the spool evenly. As you're looking down on the reel the left side of the spool was filled to capacity and the right side was only 2/3 full (and that's being generous). Under pressure of a fish this caused line jumping and popping of the line causing me to loose a couple fish. I attached a 2 pound weight and dropped it to 300 feet and reeled it in and the uneven spooling was worse. It actually spooled into peaks and valleys with the left side over spooled with line sloping to about half on the right side. I noticed the same thing happening with 25 to 30 pound fish. In my opinion the reel isn't worth saving a few bucks on a better one.
Paul Murray : Strong and light good reel
Exelent reel for fishing Salmon on the California Delta. I used 65 pound braid for my main line, then 25 pound flurocarbin line to the Silvertron lure I was trolling. The reel handled the fish with no problem. I believe I will order 1 more for the Delta. The salmon were #27 and #20 pound fish, they were in the boat within 5 minutes!! The line counter is accurate to within 1 foot at 100 feet, I checked it with a 100 foot tape
Amazon Customer : Lack of Quality control.
Arrived damaged, returned. Replacement ordered and it was damaged in the exact same way. Stay away from this manufacturer.
Mary Pittman : Amazing customer service
Totally impressed with the customer service we received from the company. My husband had the reel several months before using it and the reel broke when reeling in his 8th fish of the day. We were past the return period with Amazon I posted a review and the company reached out within a week. Today we received a new replacement reel. Very pleased with the customer service provided by Alisa.
Michael lozano : Needs better well
Reel seemed to be well made and first trip out after a couple hours the nut holding the handle fell off! Got a replacement but the bolt is stripped so new aluminum nut won’t fit otherwise it seemed to be a good rod
Bruno777Amazon : solid reel
caught 20lb ,30lb, fish all day long worked great.
Angel : Good price
Worked good but stoped after first fishing trip got a replacement for it that one is working great
StPete : Update - Better Customer Support and Replacement Reel
Update Dec 31 2018: This update reflects recent activity by Sougayilang to correct the issues reported previously. Sougayilang support did get in contact with me and was concerned about the possibility of my receiving a malfunctioning reel. The lack of immediate support response was due to the support office being on holiday. They have been in constant contact upon return. So 3-4 stars for getting in contact and staying in contact while trying to understand and resolve the issue.
A replacement reel was sent and like the first reel 200 yds of 30lb mono was spooled on the reel and counter measurements were taken. The counter measurements on this reel were much closer to actual line spooled off but still had a growing error in accuracy based upon amount of line spooled out. The better news here is that the counter upon reeling the line back in returned to zero. This was tested 5 times at different lengths. At least for this reel the counter was consistent and did not display the erratic and differing results of the previous reel. Other good news is that on this reel the clicker was much louder than the previous reel. You could be at the front of 30’ boat and you would hear the clicker on this reel if line started to go out.
In summary the first reel was faulty, Sougayilang is very much interested in you being happy with your purchase and will provide support. Ultimately you should check the reel counter if you order this reel so that you know what your accuracy is IF line count is important to you. The other quality factors of this reel can only be determined after months of use and proper care.
I have other Sougayilang reels (freshwater bass type bait casting) and lure packages. And have had no issues. For the price they can’t be beat.
Suongho : Ok
Good
Will : Saltwater fishing
I like this reel. I'll use this reel for trolling in the Chesapeake Bay for rockfish. I have not used this reel yet. I think it will do what I want. I have not decided what rod I'll buy yet.
thomas lacognata : stopped working right away
first the handle falls off, then the line counter stops counting, then the line guide stops guiding. All on the first try. Terrible product.
Pons R : Will not be buying this reel again
First reel came in with a bent handle sent it back for a replacement. Second one I took fishing and in the first cast it locked up. I will be sending it back for a refund.
Michael lozano : Needs better well
Reel seemed to be well made and first trip out after a couple hours the nut holding the handle fell off! Got a replacement but the bolt is stripped so new aluminum nut won’t fit otherwise it seemed to be a good rod

Lyle Brown : Line went into side of reel created a problem
I was unhappy with the fact that the line jump off the spool and to the side of the real And got tangled in the gears
Glenn M Ihde II : The handle nut strips off.
I bought two of these reels for Snapper fishing and the nut holding on the handle stripped off both reels. They have a little screw that keeps the nut from spinning off, but they just worked themselves off the thread while trying to reel fish in. That being said, they did tolerate some 20 to 30 lb fish. I had to cross thread a metric M8 1.00 to keep the handle on though.

Amazon Customer : great reel for the money
I use it for cat fishing and trolling
Amazon Customer : Almost a great reel.
Nice reel. Well boxed . Smooth. The crank handle shaft is a bit loose. Either assembled poorly or wrong bearing. Not sure yet. Handle and shaft have excessive play. I'll look into it and update this review. After a bit of work. Shims and lube (see vid) this is a great reel so far. I'll load it up and take it fishing. Let ya know..... After a day on the water using this reel..... For the money, it's a decent reel. Not great, but decent. An average casting reel. No complaints. Counter is accurate. Drag is a bit grabby. Time will correct that. All in all a keeper.
Dan : Double failure

Amazon Customer : lost my money
i bought this reel and used it for the first time and the handle came apart and fell overboard
Del : Very disappointed
SECOND UPDATE: Don't purchase this reel. I was sent the replacement as described below. I had an opportunity to take my son and two grandsons out deep in the gulf. A shark hit the reel not stripped from the first purchase and the gears stripped. So, both of the reels from the first purchase were destroyed by large fish. We had the replacement I was sent. Nothing large enough to take out drag hit it. So it hasn't been tested yet to see. However, a few days later I went out again, and the counter stopped working on the replacement reel. This was only the second trip with the reel. I informed Sougayilang. They said they would send me another replacement. This was 7-18-2021. I have not heard a thing. So, out of 3 of these reels, two were destroyed by large fish and the counter isn't working on the third. UPDATE: As explained below, I had problems getting Sougayilang to reply to my email. However, they finally did. I don't know if Amazon contacted them or they saw my review. They sent me a new or refurbished, reel. I haven't had an opportunity to put line on it as of this date, but I did want to update my review. I owe them this much. So, I changed my review from 1 star to 4 until I get it checked out. Thank you Sougayilang. (BTW, it's a really nice looking reel with a loud clicker just right to hear when trolling. My only complaint was one of the two I initially purchased began slipping when reeling in a large fish no matter how tight the drag was set, not the line. It was the gears, or something inside slipping and making a loud noise.) I am very disappointed with this company. I purchased two Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reels September 12, 2020. I used them a few times and was pleased with the reels to begin with. However, with a good fish on, one of the reels began to slip making a grinding sound. I first thought the drag was not tight enough, but no, it was plenty tight and the sound was not the sound of line being taken. The sound was mechanical. This was in November and It got worse. With fishing season over I put the reels away not thinking about it until May 2021 when I began fishing again. Of course, it did it more and worse. I emailed Sougayilang May 26, 2021 explaining the problem and asking what to do as far as a replacement or repair. It's now June 1, 2021 and I have not heard anything back. The reel is pretty and seems to be made well but it's obviously not. Don't purchase it. A large fish will strip the mechanism. Seems Sougayilang would at least reply to my email.
John : Cheeply made
Not as smooth as you would expect. Not sure how long it will last. Line counter doesn't work all the time. You have to make sure the reset button is out all the way.
anthony j wyble jr : Good deal.
Good reel for the price!
TED Peterson : Great Reel
Very well made reel. Line counter works good so far, not like others I've had, and great price too.
TED Peterson : Great Reel
Very well made reel. Line counter works good so far, not like others I've had, and great price too.
Jason Nowacki : Line release does not close automatically when you start reeling.
The handle fell off during the first reeling of a fish. Resecured and the very next fish the handle came off again. The handle nut is loose too big, strips right off of the stud.
Glenn M Ihde II : The handle nut strips off.

Sachiko : Junk!
First day we went out fishing and after our fist catch the whole real fell apart and the drag screw spun off and striped very cheaply made I sent message to the company and zero reply!

Dennis Wilcox : Handle crank has to much slop in it right out of the box
I was going to try and use this for salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. Now I use Penn or Okuma products, 210's or 310' level winds for the Penn's, and Catalina 25 level winds on my riggers and Convector 30 LC's for diver rods and sometimes on the riggers.
The first reel of the ones I just purchased I removed from the box and there is just to much slop in the handle crank. In other words the cup the crank is on that attaches to the main shaft to turn the bail of the reel just has to much sloppiness in it for lack of a better word. The handle oscillates at the ball end of the crank towards the reel body and away from the reel body when turning. Overall the reel just feels cheap. So sending them back. thanks
maury barnes : Great reel wish I could afford 2 more
For the price, this reel is a big bang for the buck. You have all the features of the high dollar reels for the fraction of the cost. As far as casting it is fast and smooth. I use it on a 9ft rod and I would compare it to the peen squidder 140 or the Diawa sha .
Sachiko : Junk!
First day we went out fishing and after our fist catch the whole real fell apart and the drag screw spun off and striped very cheaply made I sent message to the company and zero reply!
Paul M. : Nice so far
Just got it. Started spooling with 80 lb braid to test the drag. I am getting only 18lbs of drag with a full spool. I did get over 30ls with a nearly empty spool. The clicker is very loud which is nice. You can feel and hear the ratcheting in the reel. The body feels to be metal. For the price thus far it is impressive. Ill write more after I fish with it.
MILES : Balance
The service and staff are EXCELLANT! It was refreshing to interact with someone that takes care of business. As for the reel... it is a fair product for the average fisherman. Line counter has issues. It's destiny... is that of a "Back Up Reel." thanks for your prompt service and reply. Best regards, MTE
Amazon Customer : Lack of Quality control.
Arrived damaged, returned. Replacement ordered and it was damaged in the exact same way. Stay away from this manufacturer.

alex boyer : Line counters do not work/ updated.
I own 6 of these reels and not one line counter works correctly. Either goes to 99 and stops or resets itself when it wants. 1 line counter did work for the first 2 fishing trips but has since stopped working. They reel nice and everything else seems to work like it should. The drag seems decent but the spool tensioner are hit or miss. After a 2 weeks of use everything has started to fail. Drag doesn't work right/ chunky feeling then nothing or full drag, spool tensioner is junk and free spools, line counters don't even spin. All 6 are junk now. Done buying Chinese junk. Not one contact from the company concerning their products.
Amazon Customer : great reel for the money

Jannet Dewberry : Great off brand reel
I’ve caught a 4’ shark with this reel. I’m gonna buy another.
Bruno777Amazon : solid reel
caught 20lb ,30lb, fish all day long worked great.
Robert Nieman : Good reel
Nice reel. The line release doesn’t re engage when reeling. You must manually flip it back. Other than that feels like a nice reel.

RAD : Handle Nut Stripped
Received the reel and it looked really nice. But - while cranking- you visually see that there was an issue with the handle. The note on there was little loose and looked to check it out. And when I loosened it up - a few aluminum pieces came out. Reading other reviews the nut is more than likely slightly stripped. Tried to put back on, but does not tighten up evenly. Will be requesting a replacement nut. Not a good start. Hopefully this is the worst of my problems. Once I get it on the water will review how it works. Hard to rate value - will depend on if it doesn't fall apart when reeling in a keeper.
