DURABLE: The Thunder LS II is based upon a powerful star drag foundation, supported by heavy duty brass gears and a full Carbon drag system. With the ability to output 40 lbs. of drag, this particular reel model is incredibly powerful. As an additional benefit, the Aluminum ratcheting drag star enables trolling fisherman to set precise drag setting.
EASY OPERATION: One of the absolute best things about this trolling reel is the fact that it fits so comfortably in your hand, which is great for anglers who plan on staying out on the water for a long time. There is also a very smooth drag, which is obviously one of the more important things to consider when shopping for a fishing reel of any kind. The anti-reverse roller bearings work very well, and the overall build is exceptionally solid. If you want a durable reel, this is the one for you
FASTER SET-UP: Each time you check your lure, or better yet, reel in a fish, you'll want to get your line back into the strike zone as quick as possible. If the fish struck at 100' of line out behind the boat, just flip the reel into free-spool and let line spool out until the line counter hits 100'. This is much faster and more accurate than pulling line off the reel by hand and counting number of pulls.
WORTHFUL-It may not be the very best reel on the market, but you will most defiantly get your money’s worth out of this one. From your pals at fishing tips guru we are always wishing you the best on the water and happy and safe fishing experience.
THREE-YEARS Worry-Free Service: This reel is backed by a three-year limited Worry-Free Service, so you will be able to get any replacements or repairs you need within this period of time.

Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reel
Line counters provide a number of benefits while trolling:
Stay in the Strike Zone-The biggest benefit of this reels is it means you'll be spending more time with more rigs right in the sweet spot.
Depth Control-If you know exactly how much line you have let out behind the boat, it becomes much easier to gauge what depth your lure is running at.
Trolling Spread Management-When trolling with multiple lines behind the boat, staggering the amount of line on adjacent rigs can help reduce the number of crossed lines and tangles.
Easier for the New Guy-Your new crew can be setting lines back while you drive the boat. Its also easier to glance over and double check where they set the line, which is not possible if he was counting pulls.
This is why guides will almost always use line counter fishing reels when pulling a trolling spread.
This is very helpful when fighting multiple fish in the boat at once. With line counters, you'll know which angler is likely to have the first fish boat side and ready for the net.

Questions about Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reel Conventional Level Wind Fishing Reel
Q:
Can you pier fish for king mackerel
Answer: Yes you can, use 65 pound power pro with 40 pound fluro carbon leader! I caught 75 pound blue fin tuna on this reel and I was curious to see how much line they ran off when I hooked the fish. I set the dragbat 20 pounds using a fish scale to set the drag. The average blue fin in the 50 to 75 pound range ran off 120 feet of line. The reel held up fine and the drags were smooth after 30 fish!!
Answer: yes there really great reels for every type of fishing
Answer: If your looking for a reel you can cast with, forget it! If you not casting it would be fine.
Answer: I guess you can
Q:
Can this be attached to any Rod ?
Answer: probably any standard fishing rod, mine has been on 3 different poles so far
Answer: Yes
Q:
Where is my order?
Q:
What’s a good cat fishing reel
Answer: A reel with great drag. When you hook up with a 20-30 lb catfish you will be fighting for a while. Good comfortable handle. You need something to hold on too. Good braided line also. Make sure your reels can handle braided line,80lb. You will need it to pull the big ones out of the trees, snags,or whatever.
Answer: I use it for striper and catfish... no issues...
Q:
Does this have automatic spool engage when you start reeling? Or do you manually have to flip the lever?
Answer: on mine you have to manually flip lever
Answer: No it don't you have to manually flip lever
Answer: It does automatically engage.
Q:
I need parts for this reel Sougayilang. Can anyone help?
Q:
Is this a metal frame
Answer: Yes and it works very good for the price you pay for it I used it on a rock fishing trip and it held up excellent
Answer: Yes
Q:
Would this be a good reel for fresh water bass?
Answer: This reel is a monster for freshwater bass fishing. It weighs 1.25lb/0.5kg and would tire you out FAST casting. It's intended for monster catfish or for saltwater gamefish like tuna, marlin, wahoo where you cast a few times and fight a long time. For freshwater bass, you're looking for a small baitcasting reel like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sougayilang-Baitcasting-Stainless-Bearings-Magnetic/dp/B07GTX2ZM2
Answer: Yes,this reel can be used in both freshwater or saltwater,When using this trolling fishing reel, you can cover more distance than you would with a spinning or casting reel.
Q:
How do you get replacement adjusting knobs( spool tensioning knob)?
Answer: I complained about product not working correctly on review. Rep from company called me and actually sent me a new replacement reel. You just need to email them. They respond pretty quick
Q:
What are the internals made of plastic or metal
Answer: All aluminum, steel ball bearings
Q:
how light can drag be set
Answer: Turn the large sprocket on the handle side clockwise to increase. I must say however I’ve had a lot of problems with this reel so much that I gave it away.

Q:
The LS2 4000 does the spool engage when you start to reel it in or do you have to flip the lever there's people on here that say both which is it
Answer: You have to flip the lever. For example to cast the reel you have to flip the leverr then you cast then you have to flip the lever
Answer: I want to be absolutely clear on this - I have the LS 30R model and you must flip the lever to engage the handle to reel in line. Picture wise both models look exactly the same.
Answer: One needs to move the lever
Answer: U have to flip it
Q:
i ordered the wrong reel rel i want the right hand but mistakently ordered the let hand can i exchange for the right hand reel
Answer: You would have to contact the seller.
Q:

Answer: Feet
Answer: Feet
Q:
What is the max drag?
Answer: This is not the real I have so I have no idea
Q:
woould this be good for crappie
Answer: I think it would be an overkill for crappie. I use mine for trolling walleye.
Answer: No to large. Good for trolling for muskie or northern
Answer: Lol probably be over kill the reel is a nice big size I think it has a drag pull/weight of like 36lbs or something I used mine to catch 65lbs halibut and some salmon
Answer: yes, if you are trolling for them, the reel don't cast but it dose help you know how far out the line goes.
Q:
what is the measurement of the whole wheel
Answer: It's at least 3 1/2 to 4 inches wide it holds plenty of line I put over 200 yards of 30 pound mono
Q:
Is there a smaller version?
Answer: No!
Q:
How can I contact them? The provided email contact does not work. The website cannot be reached? Thinking about returning this, no support.

Q:
Would you be able to send screw and bracket to hold the reel to the fishing rod?
Answer: Contact the selling party via Amazon help line or customer support!
Q:
where is the reel made
Answer: China, it's the same as the Okuma Convector, identical internals, less money.
Answer: sorry i dont own this model
Q:
Does this item have a 3 year warranty in an open box state? This item is available in an "Option" state and in an open box.
Q:
Can you fish from shore with this?
Answer: This counter is used for a drop line or trolling style of fishing . I don't not believe it would allow you to cast your line into the water from shore .
Answer: you can, but you would do better with a spinning type reel
Answer: It would be very difficult to cast
Q:
Do you have this reel in a left handed version?
Q:

Answer: That’s exactly what I got it for, but have not had a chance to use it yet. It looks like it is going to be perfect!
Q:
Can this be attached to "fiblink" big game fishing rod?
Answer: I wouldn't buy this reel mine broke within minutes of opening the box and taking it out. All I did was turn the crank handle and it broke right in my hand. I didn't even get a chance to put line on it. I put back in the box and shipped it back. No I don't think this would work for you. Old saying you get what you pay for buy cheap you get cheap.
Answer: No
Q:
What is the spool capacity?
Answer: 325 yards of braided 65 pound test!!
Q:
what is the gear ratio?
Answer: 4.1:1
Q:
How much 100lb braid will this hold? Big enough reel for 50lb fish?
Answer: Number 1, if you need 100 pound braid, you need a much bigger reel than this reel!! Number 2, it will handle 50 pound fish with 60 pound braid and 40 pound flurocarbon leader, I just caught 25 yellow fin tuna in the 30 to 50 pound range!!
Answer: It holds over 450 feet of 80 lb braid. If 100 lb braid is about 20% more volume than 80 lb braid then 80% of 450 is about 360 ft. However 80 lb braid should easily hold a 50 lb fish. Tight lines!
Answer: 100 lbs I don't know mine is set up for 40 lbs in which it holds 100 yrds of 10 lb backing and 150 yrds 40 lb braid

Answer: yes, mine has a line counter.....

Answer: It is not made for casting, but it will cast 25 to 50 feet!!

Answer: I have okumas and cables line counters and this seems like a quality reel
Q:
What is the difference between the 3000 or 4000 reel?
Answer: 4000 size is larger than 3000, with greater line capacity
Answer: I would have to say it is probably slightly larger but not sure. The 3000 is plenty big Irish Erie slot and this will handle anything up.there
Q:
How many yards of 40 will it hold
Answer: I had150 yrds of backing and 250 yrds of 40 lb braid
Q:
Is the line counter in feet?
Answer: yes
Q:
Is this reel good for grouper fishing
Answer: Should be. I use it with lead line for trout, salmon at Lake Ontario. Caught a 30 lb King with a 1 hour fight and the reel was a champ
Answer: I have only used for snapper, so it should be good.
Answer: It would be great for it - but depends on the size. The model i bought was rated up to 25lbs. You could probably go a few pounds over the rating, but it would make for quite the fight.
Q:
What is the line retrieval per turn?
Answer: 5.3 to 1
Product reviews of Sougayilang Line Counter Trolling Reel Conventional Level Wind Fishing Reel
Michael lozano : Needs better well
Reel seemed to be well made and first trip out after a couple hours the nut holding the handle fell off! Got a replacement but the bolt is stripped so new aluminum nut won’t fit otherwise it seemed to be a good rod
Sachiko : Junk!
First day we went out fishing and after our fist catch the whole real fell apart and the drag screw spun off and striped very cheaply made I sent message to the company and zero reply!
Paul Tesdall : Impressive reel
This reel should perform as expected during the Missouri paddlefish season. The level wind on one reel needed to be tightened for it to engage with the gear properly. Someone complained that the counters counted backwards? They work the same as any other line counter reel I have owned. It counts up as line is dispensed from the reel and counts down when reeled allowing you to know how much line is still out.
Jennifer : Line counter - never worked
Reel seems ok, works fine for last few weeks. 500’ braid with 300’ CU. The line counter never worked from day one. Would like to buy few more reels, but not with those junky line counters.
Victor Pavon Alejandro : Not well built.
I had purchased this reel thinking it was good but when it came and I took it out of the box the reel fell apart the bait clicker was nice and loud but I don’t recommend buying this reel.
pedro p perez : Defected and bad quality of construction material
Disliked
Bradley Walstrom : Good value.
Good value for the money this is the fourth one of these reels I’ve bought they work well for striper fishing.
george l davis : Line counter is worthless
I was suspicious about the line counter before I even used it...the reset button was rough when depressed and did not clear the counter. But I'm still giving this reel three stars and it landed several large Red Snapper without a hitch on its maiden voyage. I'd return it for a replacement if I thought the line counter would work, but it's not worth the crap shoot to repackage and return (plus the 100yds of braid on the spool).
Angel : Good price
Worked good but stoped after first fishing trip got a replacement for it that one is working great
maury barnes : Great reel wish I could afford 2 more
For the price, this reel is a big bang for the buck. You have all the features of the high dollar reels for the fraction of the cost. As far as casting it is fast and smooth. I use it on a 9ft rod and I would compare it to the peen squidder 140 or the Diawa sha .
Frank : Waiting for spring
Never got a chance to use the reel, bad weather, that’s why I only gave it 3 stars the 3 stars were for looks, feel and quality. Will re-evaluate after season starts come spring
todd harsell : Cheaply made warranty is hard to do
Gears don't hold up and handle nut is cheaply made and falls off used half of 45 day snagging season and it's shot counter hangs up at 100 ft
StPete : Update - Better Customer Support and Replacement Reel
Update Dec 31 2018: This update reflects recent activity by Sougayilang to correct the issues reported previously. Sougayilang support did get in contact with me and was concerned about the possibility of my receiving a malfunctioning reel. The lack of immediate support response was due to the support office being on holiday. They have been in constant contact upon return. So 3-4 stars for getting in contact and staying in contact while trying to understand and resolve the issue.
A replacement reel was sent and like the first reel 200 yds of 30lb mono was spooled on the reel and counter measurements were taken. The counter measurements on this reel were much closer to actual line spooled off but still had a growing error in accuracy based upon amount of line spooled out. The better news here is that the counter upon reeling the line back in returned to zero. This was tested 5 times at different lengths. At least for this reel the counter was consistent and did not display the erratic and differing results of the previous reel. Other good news is that on this reel the clicker was much louder than the previous reel. You could be at the front of 30’ boat and you would hear the clicker on this reel if line started to go out.
In summary the first reel was faulty, Sougayilang is very much interested in you being happy with your purchase and will provide support. Ultimately you should check the reel counter if you order this reel so that you know what your accuracy is IF line count is important to you. The other quality factors of this reel can only be determined after months of use and proper care.
I have other Sougayilang reels (freshwater bass type bait casting) and lure packages. And have had no issues. For the price they can’t be beat.
M. Malasky : Very disappointing
After loading this reel with expensive 50 lb blue camo braided line and on my second time reeling in line in middle of ocean something bound and now it does not reel in smooth...need to use a lot of force to get it to reel at all...contacted customer service ... maybe I just got a lemon ... but I can't recommend this at all
Amazon Customer : Lack of Quality control.
Arrived damaged, returned. Replacement ordered and it was damaged in the exact same way. Stay away from this manufacturer.
Chad B. Berlin : Look cool
Purchased 2 of these reels. They work really good. One reel had a screw come out and the nut that holds the reel on fell off but the company is sending me a new one so it's not a big deal.
Paul M. : Nice so far
Just got it. Started spooling with 80 lb braid to test the drag. I am getting only 18lbs of drag with a full spool. I did get over 30ls with a nearly empty spool. The clicker is very loud which is nice. You can feel and hear the ratcheting in the reel. The body feels to be metal. For the price thus far it is impressive. Ill write more after I fish with it.
alex boyer : Line counters do not work/ updated.
I own 6 of these reels and not one line counter works correctly. Either goes to 99 and stops or resets itself when it wants. 1 line counter did work for the first 2 fishing trips but has since stopped working. They reel nice and everything else seems to work like it should. The drag seems decent but the spool tensioner are hit or miss. After a 2 weeks of use everything has started to fail. Drag doesn't work right/ chunky feeling then nothing or full drag, spool tensioner is junk and free spools, line counters don't even spin. All 6 are junk now. Done buying Chinese junk. Not one contact from the company concerning their products.
Jannet Dewberry : Great off brand reel
I’ve caught a 4’ shark with this reel. I’m gonna buy another.
Cathie F. : Great buy. Excellent construction
Works like a dream
garrity : Product is completely defective.
There were a few problems with this product. I bought the right handed reel. First, the counter counter backwards from 999 to 0 which is opposite of what is needed. Second, the star drag needed to be turned to the left to increase tension and turned to the right to free spool. This is completely opposite of what normal star drags would do. Lastly, the materials used in the reel were subpar and felt like it would rust because the seals were almost non existant. I would stay away from this product. Also anyone who wrote a good review are not experienced fisherman.
Freddy Powell Jr. : Good reel
Went fishing with it, and it did better than I expected.
ssr_101b : Don't buy
Only worked correctly a few times. Now counter quite working and drag is not adjustable. I should not need a new reel after one year...
Bradley Walstrom : Good value.
Good value for the money this is the fourth one of these reels I’ve bought they work well for striper fishing.
Paul Tesdall : Impressive reel

Bean : Line counter is unreliable!
Basically its not a bad reel for the money. Seems very positive, and generally well built, again for the money. However don't buy it for the line counter. the little plastic bevel gears that drive the counter don't mesh properly, they barely touch each other, and sometimes the counter moves, and sometimes it doesn't . Parts are made wrong, and unless they make a change in the gears it will not work reliably. I specifically wanted the line counter, so I returned it.
Anonymous,fishermen.... : !!!its JUNK!!DONT BUY THE PRETTY REAL ,JUNK!
Junk ,junk junk!!!!DONT BUY THIS CRAPPPPPPPPP!the counter doesn’t work !it’s JUNK!Then when I was rock fishing this reel decided to make crazy noises!just like JUNK!DONT BUY KNOCK OFF’s,they all are junk! And you will be wasting your money!I LOOKED AT REVIEWS,ALL OF THEM!I trusted them !Just TRUST THIS REVIEW!ItsJUNK!DONT BUY IT!you will be sorry!I even learned how to put my string on the correct way,it worked but the reel is !100% JUNK! Here’s the deal ,it’s pretty ,that’s how they get you!its JUNK!pretty JUNK!
Denise Meyers : Birthday gift
Seems well made
Amazon Customer : Almost a great reel.
Nice reel. Well boxed . Smooth. The crank handle shaft is a bit loose. Either assembled poorly or wrong bearing. Not sure yet. Handle and shaft have excessive play. I'll look into it and update this review. After a bit of work. Shims and lube (see vid) this is a great reel so far. I'll load it up and take it fishing. Let ya know..... After a day on the water using this reel..... For the money, it's a decent reel. Not great, but decent. An average casting reel. No complaints. Counter is accurate. Drag is a bit grabby. Time will correct that. All in all a keeper.
Tom l. : Pick your side
Haven't used it yet but going to use it for black sea bass fishing but I did like the fact that I was able to get it with a left handed crank
alex boyer : Line counters do not work/ updated.

Wrc0731 : You pay for what you get!
Ordered 2 over the last few months, one was missing the cover on line counter. Last one we were putting line on it when it started slipping, seams the gears are bad. When putting on line it would stop reeling and let line out.
Jannet Dewberry : Great off brand reel
I’ve caught a 4’ shark with this reel. I’m gonna buy another.
Bradley Walstrom : Good value.
Good value for the money this is the fourth one of these reels I’ve bought they work well for striper fishing.
bad action billy : Great Product
Great Deal for the price will be using it soon on next fishing trip
Eric M Tomlinson : Great value
Awesome reel
Fishman : Rockfish killer
Need a reel to hold enough line and know how deep is fishing spot. This reel is perfect for bottom fishing. It can hold 450+ feet 80# braid line. The middle of the reel’s center axis is coarse so as to increase friction with the line. Line counter is very helpful to understand the depth of the fishing spot. Level wind feature helps to make the line evenly spreaded. I could not cast very far with this reel but it meets my expectations.
M. Malasky : Very disappointing

andy : but one
I like this reel great price good guality.
Rnman : A decent reel for certain applications
I purchased the size 30 Sougayilang reel. It seemed to be decently put together but it was too big for the fishing I do(mostly trout and kokanee and sockeye). I noticed that the lever to release the spool does not automatically engage when you start reeling. You have to manually engage it. I am not sure if my particular reel was defective or if that's how they all are. This might be a great deal if you need a bigger reel.

Kindle Customer : Can not find parts
The reel worked great. Pulled in red snapper 250 ft down with no problems and loved the counter. My only problem I have is after the 4th trip the handle fell off and I lost the nut overboard. I can not find a replacement nut for it not even if from the manufacturer. I would have gave it 5 stars if I could get the parts.
Ronald M. : cheap left handed reel bought for a friend
the reel looks nice.i was thinking it would be a lil bigger.did not come with a back strap to ensure ut stays on the rod.i was disappointed in that
Sachiko : Junk!
First day we went out fishing and after our fist catch the whole real fell apart and the drag screw spun off and striped very cheaply made I sent message to the company and zero reply!

Parts are made wrong, and unless they make a change in the gears it will not work reliably. I specifically wanted the line counter, so I returned it.
