Answer: If you take it apart you will see it has ONE drag washer. Really cheaply made reel. It works, but even at $30 for this reel you are getting ripped off.
Answer: Yes, I have problems with the drag. It is the worst performance I've experienced. It seems like drag slips no matter how much I tightened. I will try and open and clean inside like someone suggested.
Answer: No silky smooth for me. I did clean and regrease my reels the day they got hear. The manufacture uses an excessive of grease. I used shimano drag grease for the drag washers.

I cannot get brakes to funtion even at max, any tips?
Answer: I don't know why your brakes don't seem to work. Mine work well to help control the annoying birdsnest of fishing line once I learned how to properly set the reel up. I keep my brakes set pretty high as I am still learning how to cast properly with the baitcast reel. IKt's also very important to use the reel tension knob beside the handle and a slight thumb pressure on the drum. These must be employed for proper reel function. My best tip is to watch some of the many excellent YouTube videos on tuning and casting with a baitcast reel. They sure helped me! Good Luck!
Answer: I have not had this issue with this reel. I have found the side plate screws loose on other reels in the past and tightening them helped.

Answer: Gotcha on this one brother, disassemble the reel and oil the movable components, reassemble, then loosen your tension knob while watching the bait you have on the line. If it moves too fast tighten the tension knob; too slow loosen the knob. You want a medium falling bait for castability. Pull the line near the reel opening and see if your drag is too hard to pull or too light of a pull. The rest from that point is God given sense!
Answer: sounds like the drag is stuck, hold your thumb on the spool to prevent it from turning then crank the handle, be sure the drag is at minimum when doing so. sometimes that works.

What wll be the reel capqcity for a 20lb braid?
Answer: The listing states 140yds/30lb braid so maybe 180yds? If you palm your reel when fishing it, this reel has a poorly positioned sideplate release lever, it's too long and in the wrong location. I kept knocking my sideplate off while using reel, so I cut the lever shorter. But, even after that I finally did accidently flip the release lever with my palm and lost the sideplate over the side, no more usable reel. Get a better designed reel IMHO.

Use caution when purchasing this reel. I inadvertently purchased a right handed reel, when I actually need a left handed one. Can't change sides like you can with other types of reels. Hard to fish with a right hand reel, when you don't have a right hand. Too hard to return items. Just gathering dust in my shop.

All this reel does is snarl. I realize there is a learning curve to this type of reel, but after watching many YouTube videos and doing other research over the past few months, I'm am still having the same results. After buying this reel I was told my many friends that they didn't like Baitcasters because of the exact same reasons. I wish I would have talked to them before wasting my money on this reel. Sure these reels are low profile and sleek, but, in my opinion, they are non-functioning. Sticking to plain old reels from now on.

The cover plate kept falling off from "day one." I was fortunate that each time I could just put it back on. I take very good care of my equipment, It was not cracked and I even purchased an expensive neoprene cover to protect it. I had already decided to not buy another one,....but yesterday it fell off into the water while I had a very large snakehead on the line....lost the piece, all of my expensive Sufix braided line, ....and the fish. It seemed to me that it just never fit firmly.

I honestly tried several ways and few baits but could never keep out from backwashing even with the brakes maxed out and the tension nob fully turned to the Max… I am certain it is my error of operation but I have used several other cheaper bait casters before and other more expensive bait cater that have not given me the issue this one is giving me.

After reading some reviews, i decided to pull the trigger and buy this real to replace my black max. I liked how the reel looked and decided this might be a good fit. Got the reel in the mail and threw some braid on it to go out and tune it to my liking. Was out on the water for 15 minutes and spent 10 picking out bird nest. tried everything trying to adjust brakes and tension and nothing worked . Spend a couple more bucks and get something else.

The product indicate that you can spool a 12 lb mono filament and the reel is somewhat having a hard time,tried again an 8 lb braided line the reel is having a problem . Maybe the reel is only intended to 4-6 lb lines, will wait for the replacement.,this is my first time to give a negative review on a certain product I hate to do this but this is my findings. This photo was taken after the seller replaced the first item and this is a good one no problems spooling up to 12 lb line in photo is a 10 lb mono filament , this one operates very smooth , thank you for sending a replacement .

This baitcaster is pretty amazing. My son is over the moon with the ability to change spools of line without having to take it all off and replace. He can switch between mono and braid with ease. It is smooth with a smooth drag system. Nice price point and performance is exceptional! I would definitely recommend this product for people to try before spending more to buy other brands.

Just recently got the reel, and was able to take it out today. I paired it up with a 7'3 Abu Garcia vigilante 2.0 and hit the water. The build quality of the reel is very sturdy and elegant yet lightweight. The reel functions very smooth. The first five casts we're total birdnests, but after I got the reel dialed in it worked like a dream. The carbon disk drag worked very well and was really strong. I'm overall extremely impressed with the reel for the price, and I would definitely buy another.

How???? How does this reel cast this well for the money??? It almost made me mad when i first used this reel. At first i was excited. What a steal! At this price? Its this nice? Then i realized how much i had spent on all my other reels. I will never spend more than 50 bucks on a reel ever again. This us aa goid or better than my Lews baitcaster i spent $175 on.

I do wish that the knobs were the Eva foam like on the spinning reel counter part to this bait caster but I can get over that. Otherwise it’s a great reel for the price.

Had issues with my first reel and it was quickly replaced by Tina, the customer service rep. who handled it. You have any problems with this reel be sure to get ahold of them. Super smooth and long casting with exceptional control. Birdcaging is a thing of the past with this high quality brake system. I absolutely love this reel - paired with a Berkley Lightning Shock M/H rod. I don't do a lot of finess fishing with a baitcaster, so I can't attest to it's ability for in close work but for long and accurate casts with relatively quick retrieval, you won't go wrong with this affordable option. If useing braid however, I strongly recommend a base wrap of mono (or tape) to prevent line slippage. But that's true for any smooth spooled reel.
Also, I thought I had a technical problem with the reel (I didn't - it was user error) and the customer support was Jonny on the Spot. Take THAT Abu Garcia!

S N : Snarl, Snarl, Snarl
All this reel does is snarl. I realize there is a learning curve to this type of reel, but after watching many YouTube videos and doing other research over the past few months, I'm am still having the same results. After buying this reel I was told my many friends that they didn't like Baitcasters because of the exact same reasons. I wish I would have talked to them before wasting my money on this reel. Sure these reels are low profile and sleek, but, in my opinion, they are non-functioning. Sticking to plain old reels from now on.

Great product. Only complaint I have is the small switch on the bottom left. Depending on how you hold your reel and rod, it can rub on your knuckle and be a little irritating. Other that, it's great. Better than my other reels of similar value.

This is hands down the best budget baitcaster you will ever find. I liked it so much, the next day I order another one for my son. It cast just as well as my other reels that are in the $100 - 150 price range. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try a baitcast reel and even those who are experienced and just want to add on to their arsenal. I also ordered a spinning reel and they are also high quality.

After learning on YouTube how to set one up. This being my first bait casting reel. I like set it a little tight till I get the hang of it. But I have not bird nested it since getting the line on tight and correctly ????. Unlike when I rushed it to try it out and made five casts and yikes what a nest I got I had to cut it all off ???? I like it now.

I bought this as a temporary replacement to my Kast King Spartacus, and it broke on the first 5lber. I had to handline it back in. Not to mention, when I first opened up the spool door, the button broke. So one use and it won’t reel anymore.

Love this baitcasting reel! Very smooth and quiet. Light weight. The best part is the removable spool for when I get the occasional bird-nest. The bird-nesting is my fault because of me pushing the limits of how far I can cast with this reel. It lets me cast really far but everything has a limit. Anyway, when I do get some backlash, I simply remove the spool, untangle the mess, put it back together and continue fishing.

This review is for the Cadence CB5 left hand model. This is my 2nd Cadence baitcaster and I couldn't be happier. For a ridiculously low price, you get an exceptional reel with premium features, all in a very sleek black matte finish. This reel is comparable to my Abu Garcia pro max, which is 3x the price. Besides the reels, you cannot beat Cadence's customer service. They will go out of their way to make sure you are completely satisfied.

I am new to baitcasters, this one is light, easy to use and decent performance overall; for what it costs? A steal. Tried side to side with an Abu G and you cannot notice the difference, brakes work well (maybe tight 'em a tad more than you usually would). I've used 15lb mono and 8lb mono and it just works well, quick and sensitive enough.

Its help reduce backslashes even you whip it like spinning rod.( dont whip too hard though) and trust me ratios gear on this one is perfect for beginning.( me as examples) compared to other below 30 buck... Well, I found this reel on Amazon for $36.99 and it had a coupon for 20% ($9.25) off making it an amazing $27.74! How can you go wrong for that price. Cadence Fishing is a relatively new company. I have several of their spinning reels and rods and they are mid to low price and all of exceptional quality. I also recently picked up their CB6 ($69.99) baitcasting reel and was really impressed (see previous review on Amazon). I ordered this reel on Thurs and received it via Prime on Sat. The reel looks great in the Red Color (See photos). It is a very lightweight reel with an aluminum crankshaft so it comes in at 7.5 ounces and feels greet in the hand. It is a 6.6:1 retrieve so it will take up line quickly. I spooled it up 15lb Seaguar Red Fluorocarbon line and put it on a Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris 7ft casting rod; put on a EWG 4/0 hook and a Super Zoom Fluke weightless. I took it out to my neighborhood pond about 6:40 pm and on my first cast back-lashed big time! I looked at the reel and immediately realized I had not adjusted the wind drag on the left hand side and it was set all the way loose. My bad. After setting that back to about 80%, I cast again and “Oh My!”. Even with a light weight bait this thing casts a mile! I think this is due to them using premium Japanese ball bearings and something called SLT(Super Low Torque). Whatever it is this reel cast farther than my Shimano Curado DC 150 that costs $250.
So on my third cast I hook and land a nice 2lb 6oz LMB (see picture). I had the drag set relatively loose as I wanted to see how smooth it was. It has 20 pounds of drag (using a carbon fiber drag system) so should be able to handle any LMB. He pulled nicely and the drag gave in smooth spurts. I tightened it up and reeled her in no problem. I continued to fish and caught several more in the same size range. The one minus I would put on the reel (and it is not really and issue), it that you need to really crank down (more so than you would think) on the spool tension adjustment knob to get it adjust correctly. However, once you have it set, it casts with no back-lashes. The one think I really like is the price performance ratio of this reel. While it is not “better” than my Curado or some of my other high priced reels, it is in their class and for the price, it is a much better deal! If you are thinking about getting one, just buy it!

This is the fifth Cadence reel I have purchased (three spinning/two baitcasting). I bought this reel for my son. It is his first baitcast reel. We went to a local pond this morning to practice casting. After ten minutes he had the magnetic brake dialed in and backlashes to a minimum. I paid $27.99 for the CB5 (with coupon). Lasted about 6 months before it started vibrating like something was rubbing together whenever reeling in. Now it is not smooth retrieve.
Has been well cared for and oiled during the 6 months.

Was really surprised at how great of a cast this does for the price. Purchased as an extra rod we can throw around and it ended up being a favorite. It’s light weight and perfect if you’re just starting out on a bait caster reel. Haven’t had any issues with wind either.

Feels larger in the hand than it looks. Holds a lot of line and casts a long way once dialed in. Dialing it in is the one issue...the tension nob just keeps tightening and tightening so much that it is hard to get it set, so you go back and forth. The Drag locks down perfectly! Overall this reel is extremely smooth and worth the money, I like it!
