Questions about Abu Garcia Pro Max & Max Pro Spinning Fishing Reels
Q:
How much braid line fits on the new max pro 60? What's the heaviest test lb. can it fit?
Answer: 150feet 30lb. Test
Q:
Would the ten be fine for a 4,6 ultra light, its for sunfish and panfish?
Answer: Love the reel. I use 6# in mine and it works great.
Answer: yes
Q:
What's the max line of mono and braid?
Answer: Using both 10 lb. test line, Braid is at 180 and mono goes 140 yards. According to the box.
Q:
"What length rod works best with the Pro Max 10?" (The 10 in the question refers to the reel size.)
Q:
how much 8lb mono line with the 40 hold?
Answer: 240 yards.
Q:
Is the new model max pro 60 clam pack white Like pictures?
Answer:
Answer: Yes it is. Works perfectly for my med-heavy Ugly Stick "catfish". The reel that came with it sucked. This one does not! Landed a 6'7" Sturgeon (hooked by accident!) with it after about an hour fight. Drag is very strong and smooth.
Q:
What is the gear ratio
Answer: The gear ratio determines how many times the rotor revolves around the spool ex. a 5 to 1 , the rotor spins 5 times around the spool in 1 full turn of the handle, and that in part determines how much line is being retrieved on a single full turn of the handle. It differs on different reels because of the size of the spools. Your product manual or product box should give you all this information.
Answer: It's 5.1:1 great reel for the money!
Q:
How wide is the spool and the size of the 10?
Answer: 150 to 300 yards
Q:
How fast is delivery after shipment does it deliver fast?
Answer: yes
Q:
I'm thinking about buying the size 40 and pairing it with a 6 foot 6 rod and putting 12lb test. is this a decent set up for bass and trout?
Answer: For big bass and big trout it will work great. The 30 with 8lb mono is what I use with my 6' 6" setup. Good luck.
Q:
What is recommended line lb weight for size 5 & 10 reels
Q:
what is the gear ratio?
Answer: 5.2:1 on the 5, 10 and 20, 5.8:1 on the 30 and 40, and 4.8:1 on the 60
Q:
Is this reel made in sweden? Are any of the abu spinning reels made in sweden?
Answer: Not shure I know older ones were
Q:
can it be changed right to left take up
Answer: If you mean " can the handle be switched from one side to the other " the answer is yes.
Q:
what is the line strength and capacity of the box 10 and the box 20
Answer: I'm using 6 pound test line on mine and it appeared to hold slightly over 100 yards. I filled it off a 300+ yard spool, and do not know the exact yardage I installed. Sorry that I do not know more. I threw the box and papers to the reel away. You can probably get the info. for yardage held by pound test weight googling this question. Probably it would be better to Google about a specific pound test and dimension of line. Some lines are smaller in diameter than others for identical pound tests. I used Steen and would guess the reel would hold about 85-90 yards of 8lb test Stren. Google for specific line. Good luck.
Q:
Cuantas yardas le caben en el carrete
Answer: 60 yardas
Answer: Mono capacity 6lb /110 yds
Q:
What is difference between clam & box reel
Answer: Same reel , may not get directions or a break-down of the reel. Box is nice to have for storage , or if you decide to sell it.
Q:
Is this for saltwater use?
Answer: No, not specifically but as long as u rinse it well after saltwater use and clean it once a month it should b fine to use in saltwater. There r specific saltwater reels ABU makes they r just more expensive.
Answer: Yes, it is one of the best for saltwater use.
Q:
Do you know if the "49 Box" the maxpro40 version?
Answer: No
Q:
Is this reel good for 12lb line capacity
Answer: These are a good trout reel , smaller than say a bass reel. good for 4-6lb line.
Answer: I have several Abu reels (baitcasting/spinning) and all have been excellent but this particular model was not great. I purchased two, one for my son and one for me and both had issues. I would not recommend it. The REVO S or ORRA series are better and still rather affordable.
Answer: Sorry...it was a gift...can’t answer your question
Q:
What does 5 box 10 box 20 box and so on mean referring to size? Looking for a trout reel. I use 4lb test line
Answer: 5 lower drag lb test and line capacity 20 being higher drag lb test and capacity. I have pro max 10 that I use for ultra light and pan fishing. Max drag is 14 lb, Max capacity of mono is 6lb test, 110 yds. Braid is 6 lb test 150 yards.

Q:
Does this reel catch other species of fish than the one in the 4th picture?
Answer: This is my second Abu Garcia reel and is ideal for all kinds of fish up to about 5 pounds. I use it for everything from perch and bullhead to trout, salmon and bass. No complaints! Abu Garcia has always been my go to for a reel that will give me a great fishing experience. My first Abu Garcia reel was a birthday present for my 16th birthday. I'm 69 at the moment. It took a very long time a wonderful lot of fishing to do it, but I finally wore it out. Get it with confidence that it will give you the enjoyment you seek.

Q:
What is the size number means?
Answer: Can you be more specific, what size are you referring to? For example the Penn Battle II that I purchased is a 4000 series which relates to the weight/line capacity/ line recovery (when you reel the line in). Your best bet to find out more detailed info as Amazon's info on their items is a bit sparse at times is to look up the item on the companies website directly. This is a great reel and if you are interested I highly recommend it. Good luck!

Q:
what size for bass or crappie?
Answer: 40 works fine for all the bass we've caught. Crappie is probably similar.
Answer: This spinning reel is perfect for bass crappie even caught a slot Redfish with it last weekend.
Q:
Which reel would be best for the uglystik elite ul 7 ft rod the 10 or 20 i mainly use 6lb line but sometime i move up to 8?
Answer: I have the 20 with a a 7 foot ugly stick, I have caught crappies, several large mouth bass, and up to 5 pound channel catfish... have used 8 pound test mostly, when just fishing for crappies I use 6 pound test.
Answer: 20 is probably better for 6-8lb line. I have 4-6lb on my 10 which I use exclusively for trout. Depends on what species you’re fishing for but the 20 size is probably better for you
Answer: It all depends on how much line you want. I just purchased the 10 and use 4lb mono test. I got about 130 yards which is more than plenty, but with 8lb you will get about 80 yards of line and 6lb about 110. The 20 will get you 180 of 6lb and 130yds of 8lb test. Its a great reel.
Answer: I'd go with the 10. I'm happy with mine.
Q:
If im getting a st croix 5.4" ultra light what would be a good size reel for it ...?
Answer: I have a St. Croix ultra light and I sent the Pro Max 10 back and got the Pro Max 5, it is the perfect size. I use 4 lb. line and it is great.
Answer: I have a Pro Max #10 and I use it on a 5' rod, the 10 would work on the rod your talking about. You may want to consider "Drag weight" or weight of fish you want reel in. For smaller trout or panfish this reel will be fine, but for larger bass and such, you may want to step up to the #20 or what ever is the next step up. Hope this helps
Answer: 10 pro max
Q:
What's different between 10 box and 40 box ?
Answer: The reel size. I believe the 10 is recommended for 2-4lb line and the 40 is like 10-12lb line
Q:
How much does it weigh
Q:
Is this reel black and gold, or black and orange?
Answer: Black and gold
Q:
How much do weight and dimensions differ between a 5 & 10? I would use this on a 5'6" rod with 6# line.
Answer: I don't believe the weight differential is that much and you should be able to use it on that rod with that line. It might be a little big but should work.
