Answer: Not really practical for ice fishing. Try the black Betty free fall by 13 or any of their combos, they’re pretty decent.

Answer: I live in Texas so I don't know anything about ice fishing, but the reel has a large capacity spool.I don't think that's what you want for ice fishing. That said I don't know why it would not work for it.

Answer: It is the 1000 series reel but it's the biggest 1000 series I've ever owned.. it matches up in bulk to a 2000 size abu that I own.. overall I'm not that impressed with it.. the spool comes up to high and causes line to wrap around under it and it has a ton of parts.. I dropped some of those in the water 2 weeks ago and I'm still awaiting replacements from 13 fishing... Overall I'd suggest looking at something else

This reel will not disappoint! Casts and retrieves very smooth and casts a mile, nice fat bail and the drag is extremely smooth.

Let me start by saying i have put this reel through the paces. I do some local tournament bass fishing and I used this reel a lot last year (2018 for hundreds of hours and caught countless fish with). I purchased the 2000 series Creed Gt and paired it with the 7ft 5 med light 13 fishing fate black gen 2 rod. I got this set up primarily as a "ned rig" combo. Which means i was throwing 1/10 oz jigheads with a 2 3/4 plastic worm. I will say this is the best spinning setup i have used period. The reel is extremely smooth and can cast tiny baits a mile. The reel paired with 8 pound fluorocarbon was super sensitive. Other reviews say they have issues with line getting caught under the spool, I can assure you this is user error. Most people like to throw spinning gear then just start cranking the reel to snap the bail down ( if you fish this way you will have issues with any spinning reel) easy fix is to flip the bail down manually after casting and straighten your line out. if you do that (which you should be doing on any spinning reel) you wont get it caught under the spool or get line twists, Problem Solved!! If you are still concerned with line twist you can use "Reel Snot", or "Line Butter" (which i use on all my reels) you will have even fewer line twisting issues on any spinning reel. Overall the reel is very light weight, casts a mile, is extremely smooth, has a fantastic drag system and ultra sensitive. This reel has better hand feel and is smoother than a lot of high dollar reels. I am purchasing several more in various sizes to replace all my spinning gear with this reel. You really cant go wrong with this reel. I would give it higher than 5 stars if i could!!

Great reel! AMAZING casting distance. Pleasantly surprised that it out distanced my Shimano Sahara 3000 by about 6-8 yards. ZERO problems with line knotting... Don't over fill the spool and you will be fine.

Looks cool, but not a solid reel. First couple casts and retrieves it was very smooth and quiet. Half way through the day the reel became louder, like you can hear the bearings. Lost the smoothness as well. Thought id try out a 13fishing product, should have just bought another flueger president reel. Not recommended.

The line constantly gets wrapped up underneath spool. For $85.00 its not worth the trouble. The "airfoil technology" causes more harm than good. I spend more time on the water with the spool off unwrapping line that's twisted tightly to the stem underneath. I've been trying to work through it but I'm probably going to give up on it. I've had reels that cost much less that function much better. poor design. Quality of materials is good but it's something about the engineering that causes the line wrapping underneath spool issues.

I was looking forward to trying this reel. It was backordered by a couple weeks when I first placed my order. After calling 13fishing multiple times, it looked like the unit was finally in stock (2 months later). After reaching out again, the reel was then backordered another 3 months without explanation. It looked like a decent reel for the price point but it is not worth the hassle. Even if you get sent the reel, I would question their service if they are backordered for 6 months at a time.
