Answer: It could but would not be my 1st choice.. If you do choose to use this reel for fairly large Pike you have to have a properly matched rod and line. You need to spool the reel with 50 or 65 lb Sunline Braid and match the reel with a quality 6 1/2 or 7 ft medium heavy spinning rod. Also attach a wire leader to your lure. Be sure to have a large net handy.

Answer: Mine didn't come with a rod. And what size reel is it? 2000, 3000, etc. Any good tackle shop can suggest to you several rods to match your reel based on budget and use. A method I have used is to go to a Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas website and find your reel or one similar to it and then see what rods they are recommending.

Answer: Walmart or Bass pro shop should have what you need, Simply match the rods flex, line sizes and lure weight to the new rod you find. Also get a rod that matches the fish you are normally fishing for ie panfish = light to med rod for 6-12 lb line and 1/8 to1/2 oz lure wt.

Thia reel popped up when I searched "saltwater reel" I read the reviews and thought man I've never heard of this brand before but I will give it a shot. It worked good for the first few trips I took it on. It eventually seased up on me so i had to take it all apart and clean all the aluminum corrosion and rust out of it. I spray all my gear of with the hose whenever i get home from a saltwater trip. Now everytime I go to use it it is locked up from rust and corrosion. You get what you pay for so just buy a name brand reel and save yourself some heart ache.

This reel is absolute junk. the drag locked up and would no longer function after only 4 or 5 uses. after last use reel sat for 3 months and when took drag cap off found it was rusted even though washed with fresh water after each use. supposed to be for saltwater but no god for that.

Great reel. I have the 4000. It is very smooth and light weight. It looks and feels like my Lew's but cost much less. I especially like the drag. I need the extra for large fish that I need to turn. It has 30# Spider wire with mono leader. Great combo. It is on my 8 1/2' mh steelhead rod and is perfect for me.
