Answer: It does but the one I received doesn't flip very easy, I've had cheaper ones flip smoother than this one. That is the only real flaw I've found so far. For the money it's a good real and feels expensive. The wood handle makes it look classy and the fold down crank handle is an added bonus.

This reel has surprised me. Quality of it is better than expected and it performs great as well. It's really smooth and the drag performs as expected. Only knock against it is that it didn't come with a spool for braided line and the included one has no grip to keep braid from slipping. So you'll have to put a few layers of mono on first if you intend to run braid as your main line. Other than that, I'm really happy with it.

I unboxed tbis reel and ATTEMPTED to mount it on two different rods. The thickness and angle of the mounting 'plate' (the part that contacts the rod) is too thick and at an awkward angle. This means it will only fit on certain style rods. The appearance and action is good, but if you cannot fit it onto the rod you want to use it with, that makes it all but useless. So beware!

Very smooth small size reel.balance on my white bird 6.6 foot rod. Bit large handle arm for size 2000 but makes even easier to spin. Handle also has fold option can make it compact to store and travel in tight spot.can't wait to get to water with my roomates.

Let me first start off by saying that I am an avid angler and I have a wide collection of fishing rods and reels. I've invested thousands into this sport and I am always looking for reels for every situation. I am also a "spinning is winning" kind of person and do not use any of the conventional stuff so my experience has always been with spinning reels.
I recently got a new pole for the season and wanted to pair it with an inexpensive reel that I could swing around and lend out to friends of mine, but I wanted to get something that was durable and would be able to handle just anything outside of massive sharks/big game. For the record, I usually fish in the Florida Keys or offshore about 30 miles or so when in the North East.
I picked this up as I saw the specifications and for the price - I figured it was too good to be true, and well, I was blown away. I took 3 reels to compare as controls and comparison, both are Penn and in the same class as this reel and broke them down to compare them to this and, well, the pictures speak for themselves.
The reel in the middle is this beauty and for the price -- wow, surprised. It's lightweight but has a good and respectable amount of drag. The way that it is built doesn't seem to indicate that there will be a problem with slipping or grinding as well and the smoothness and balance of the reel feel like some of my more expensive premium Penn reels that I own.
One thing that I was surprised that it didn't come with was grease around the inner workings of the reel and while that isn't a game breaker, it will help over time keep it in tip top shape. Overall, it's a nice, light weight reel, great value for the money and if you take care of it, it will last for a long time. Do I recommend it for a starting angler? Absolutely. Do I recommend it for someone who's had years of experience fishing -- Yeah, absolutely if you know how to properly use it. Overall, great buy and I am happy to add it to my collection of reels that I own. For the price .. you can get any better based on my research on light/medium heavyish tackle.

Took a chance on this reel. Hard to believe that something this inexpensive could be so well made. This reel feels just as smooth as my more expensive Pfleuger and Diawa reels. Liked it so much I went Back and bought the H7000. Love how the Handle collapses, makes it perfect for Storage. I use this in conjunction with a telescoping rod for the purpose of keeping a setup in my car at all times. The collapsible handle makes that super easy. Would and did buy again!

Machining on the HC7000 is lousy. The bail sticking problem is due to machining problem om the central shaft. The shaft is not machined evenly through the travel area of the spool. My real has 2 high spots toward the forward end of the spool travel area. This causes the reel to hang up after casting when you go to crank the handle to set the line. I found this during reel disambley. I'm not returning it; I am TRASHING IT & going to Wal Mart & get a Mitchel or Shakesper Diwa or what ever I can find.
