Is the 1000 and 2000 the same body but different spool sizes, they have same weight.

Answer: I believe that is how they do it between the Tatula 1000 and 2000, but I pulled each out and compared. The reel body looks to be the same between the two reels. As you mentioned, the spool size/depth is different between them.

Answer: Yes, there's a 1000 size Tatula LT. Model # TALT1000D-XH. Since a 1500 size doesn't exist its reasonable to assume "one size" means 1000. If its not return it.

I have three 2500 size reels I use for bass fishing and am quite pleased with the Tatula LT drag system, weight, and overall smoothness for the price. (Make sure the proper reel size shows if you decide to purchase, tight lines!)

Answer: No, it's not. For saltwater, it's better to use other magseal reels, like Ballistic LT.

Answer: Short answer No. Per the Daiwa website there is one crbb (corrosion resistant ball bearing) in the Tatula. It is designed primarily as a fresh water reel. You can always order a tube of corrosion X grease and pack all of the bearings in the reel with it to further protect from corrosion. I do this to my Daiwa BG's with great results.

Answer: Waterproof? No reel is waterproof. Fish live in water and water gets on reels. Resistant. Yes. Proof no. Salt is bad for all reels for all the basic reasons. Rinse in fresh water and dry after using if exposed. Otherwise a good rule of thumb is to not fish under the water with the reel. Keep above water. Or take up painting with oil colors. Waterless sports.

Answer: I would step up to a magsealed Daiwa like the saltist backbay instead. I wouldn't use this in the salt myself. Or, spend less and get a BG and give it a freshwater rinse after you've fished it.

Answer: the TALT3000-CXH can be spooled with 8 lb mono for 160 yards or 10 lb mono for 130 yards. the TALT3000D-CXH can be spooled with 10 lb mono for 280 yards or 12 lb mono for 220 yards. So basically what it comes down to the "D" stands for deeper spool and more line capacity

Spooled with 10# Power Pro Super Slick 8 and paired this reel with a Fenwick Elite Walleye 5' 9" rod and could not be more pleased with the set up. Balance is perfect and light as a feather! With reel mounted rod balances out level at the very tip of the fore grip. Drag is butter slick. Reel feels good in the hand and is quite sturdy for it's size. Intended use will be finesse jigging for saugeye with jigs ranging from 1/8 to 3/4 ounces and from my point of view this set up should handle the job quite well. Would like to add that if you spool up with 10# braid and use 6# mono to start for anti line slip purposes you will only get about 110 yards on the reel. This is fine for what I will be using the reel for but if you require more capacity get the 2000 series.

Great reel. I was replacing a Stradic 2500 that decided to go for a swim. Was debating between another Stradic or this reel. I took a chance and so far could not be happier. So far I'm really loving this spinning reel. I've fished with this reel for a couple of outings and have some 15 pound PowerPro line spooled up on it. Drag is very smooth, retrieve is smooth, casts well, and this thing is feathery light; definitely lighter than my 2500 Stradic Ci4. This reel has handled some nice 3-5 pound bass with ease. Only time will tell how "tough" these reels are since it does feel light to the point it almost feels plasticy, but so far it has treated me well. I'm mainly using the 2500 size as my drop shot reel on a ML rod.

I will start off by saying, that the Daiwa Tatula LT 6.2:1 Left/Right Hand Spinning Fishing Reel is a fantastic reel. It and can be used on many different rods, and for many different applications. I like the Size 2000. The model number is Daiwa Tatula LT 2000D-XH. This is perfect for a Med. Light Fast Action Rod. I use it on my Ned Rig Rod quite often.
The Problem I am having with it, is in the bail. After I cast, I never just start reeling. I always close the bail with my hand, and then start my retrieve. But my Tatula never seems to want to stay closed. If I am not extremely cautious, the bail will be slightly out of place and cause the line to wrap in a horrible way. I have lost fish while scrambling to fix my tangled reel. I am wondering, has anyone else has had this problem? If so, please leave a comment describing your experience.
I still like the reel because it is lightweight, and the color black looks awesome with any rod you could choose, but the bail thing drives me crazy. I hope it is just a defect and not something more people experience
I Cannot recommend due to this experience. But I do know that most people who use Diawa, love them, and use them for life. You might just have to see for yourself.

I took a shot on this reel because of Tackle Advisor's review of the 2000 sized model. I chose this specific model for the slightly larger and especially because of the shallow spool. I fish freshwater. There's less line capacity, but there's not a chance the fish I target will spool me. Also, I prefer a 3000 sized reel for bass fishing.

This reel is super lightweight. Lots of reels are these days. This reel is super smooth. Lots of reels are these days. However, this is certainly in the upper end of smoothness. I've caught plenty of fish on older clunky reels and newer less smooth reels. It's always a blast. I don't contemplate the pedigree of a reel while I'm fighting a fish. However, after having used this reel plenty I do find myself aware of the lack of pedigree of other reels I use. The LT is so good its hard not to. Coupled with a Tatula 7' medium fast, the combo weighs in just a click over 10 ounces. It feels like nothing in the hand. Line lay is fantastic with Power Pro super slick 15lb. I haven't gotten a wind knot yet. Casting distance is awesome. I wade, so distance matters to me. The retrieve rate is very fast. A huge plus. The drag is smooth. Not jerky in the least.

I have several baitcasting setups and was strongly considering a BFS rig. This was mostly due to the line management issues associated with spinning reels. This reel has changed my mind about making that choice.

Bought this reel in a 3000 size, and spooled it up with 15lb power pro, its a great reel, buttery smooth, and feather light, but after doing some slightly abusive fishing with it in cape cod, cranking 18 inch seabass out of 30 foot channels like there damn amberjack, and pitching live peanut bunker to 10+ pound striped bass along jetties, the drag just practically stopped working. To get the drag to start pulling it was extraordinarily difficult, and i learned this the hard way when i hooked a nice stripah while i was sea bass fishing, it nearly ripped the rod out of my hands... Keep in mind, the reel broke probably 2 weeks after i initially purchased it but after putting some reel grease in the drag plates, it still didn't change, but, after coming back from Cape cod, while i was catching some bass, it muraculasley fixed it self! I still definitely like this reel, it was just a heartbreaking to lose multiple fish because of the drag failure.

Bought the 2500 for trout with light rod and 8# braid. Was casting it on Lake Mead on a megabass 100 and caught a 5 pound striper ..a complete surprise as I was just testing the reel on a light setup...the reel was awesome no stress in the reel and pulled the fish in...just well made. Only negative was the material for the reel collects dust and it does not clean well after heavy use...still love this reel.
