Answer: This reel will hold 300 yards of 15 lb test braided line with several ply of 20 lb mono backing, I have never used 100 lb test line so don't know the thickness of the line.
Answer: Daiwa bg 8000 it's a beast. Will buy more once you get your hands on one. It's the best reel on the market for $100.00 ( $350.00 value)
Answer: Penn Reel International III conbo will be my recommendation
Answer: Cast King 8000 and 10000 series
Answer: Try our super battler 8000 to 11000. B018QSCXZW
Answer: diawa df100a
Q:
Will 65 pound power pro fit need 300+ yard?
Answer: No
Q:
hi I'm looking for a rod and reel that will take 300 ft of braided line and can handle up to 100 lbs of fish..any recommenations?
Answer: I don’t think this reel can handle 100 lbs.
Q:
What is the Warrantry length?
Answer: I think a year check the listing
Q:
How I can get the extra spool from Amazon and how much cost ? The part number which you listed for extra spool for this reel is not coming up.
Answer: The reel is very poor quality - it will corrode very quickly, especially if exposed to salt water. Don’t waste your money buying extra spools.
Q:
Where is this reel manufactured, china, japan, usa, what country?
Answer: I am purchaser, I have a fisherman, I don’t know where the real came from but I can tell you that I own four and smooth cast great reels for the price
Answer: Made in China.
Answer: Box says made in China.
Q:
Can you use this reel for ice fishing?
Answer: still a little bit heavy for ice fishing. You may try this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074PKM91R
Answer: never did any ice fishing but I see no reason why it wouldn't work... very sturdy reel...
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can this reel do 100 % free spool?
Answer: Yes I love it
Q:
what would be a good rod for the CY 4000?
Answer: it weighs around 440 grams. Get any medium heavy rod. It's a cheap, low quality reel. it's literally a challenge to find a rod that's not good enough for this thing.
Answer: Shimano makes some nice rods, 6’6” or 7’ medium would make nice combination.
Answer: I have mine on a 8 ft med/heavy rod with a fast tip.
Answer: An 8' medium heavy action rod.
Answer: 6-7 foot uglystik with 20lb test braided line!
Q:
Can I put 50 lb braided line on the 6000 model ?
Answer: You probably can, but will not be able to cast as far, or have a lot of running line. Look at the stats for the reel down below. It will show the size of the line and the amount it will hold.
Answer: I know 40# works, haven't tried anything greater,if anything it would just lessen the amount of line you could load.
Q:
What is ideal size for a 7 ft rod
Answer: Hard to be sure, depends on what the rod is going to be used for. Medium to heavy weight I'd go with the 4000. I've not used anything but the 6000 but I have those on big poles ( 8-10ft) that I use for big carp and striper. My 7ft pole is a medium weight Pflueger President 6490 and I love the balance of the two. So maybe look that up and try mimicking the sizes?!
Q:
can I use the 3000 for crappie fishing?
Answer: The important thing for me crappy fishing ( from the bank ) is your rod. I use a 10' crappy pole and small reel. The 3000 should be fine using no more than 10 lb. line
Answer: You can use this reel but it is an overkill. It will hold way too much line. Crappy rods and reels are sold for your fishing needs.
Answer: Yes but it's more of a medium heavy reel. I use mine for big fish in the river.
Answer: you can however. It's way more reel than you'll need.
Answer: Yes you can it's a little heavy for a small rod and a lot more line don you will need
Answer: reel handle broke after 3 months of use
Q:
Which line would I need to buy for the 5000?
Answer: depends what your fishing for and what kind of lures or rig you are using. If you fishing for catfish using bait I would use 20 to 25 lb test. For bass I would use 15 lb. Fishing for catfish you can use a 50 lb leader with the 20 to 25 lb line. Fishing saltwater use 20 lb and 30 to 50 lb leader. For bass if your worm fishing with a leader use 20 lb leader. These reels are not very expensive and I would NOT recommend using them in saltwater.
Answer: I have a 4000 and I put 50 lb. braid on it and I think that will handle any catfish Iwill be catching.I think i would use same on the 5000.
Answer: Don’t waste your money on expensive line - the reel won’t last, especially if you expose it to salt water. Mine rusted-up after less than 6 hours of use.
Q:
Is this come with an extra spool as shown on gthe picture?
Answer: I never got a spare spool with my reel.
Answer: No it doesn’t. And the reel looks better in the picture . Should have gotten the Okuma baitfeeder
Answer: Mine didn't and I would strongly suggest you not purchase this reel unless you want to fish for trout in a pond. Very weak reel and the line winder is less than full span (it leaves a space between the reel and the way it packs line on). In addition the drag goes from none to full lock down in approximately 1 turn.
Answer: no, mine didn't.
Answer: Yes it did.
Q:
i catch 50+ inch muskies on live sucker rigs. Can this reel handle it or will the sucker just peel the line out, rendering the baitfeeder useless??
Answer: I fish for 50+ pound striped bass using 1 pound plus live gizzaed shad. I simply adjust the drag to keep the bait from dragging the line when using the live liner. No issues. These reels are smoother than my Penn live liners. Also, I spooled them with 50lb braid.
Answer: I don't know about muskies however, do catch 4-5 pound barracuda and travally from the shoreline using 4-6 pound test monfilament line
Answer: The bait feeder drag is adjustable so you can set it real light for something like cut bait or tighten the drag for live bait.
Q:
Can i put 30lb line on a size 5000 reel?And what rod should i pair with a 5000 reel.
Answer: From your question, it seems you are new to fishing. You can put 30lb line on almost any reel. The first question is what will you be fishing for? Will you be needing to cast? Do you want a conventional reel or a spinning reel? So many factors play into a proper answer to your question.
Answer: KastKing SuperPower Braided Fishing Line 12LB. Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 Spinning Rod (6-15-Pound Test) 7' Medium Power Spinning Rod
Answer: 30# braid is fine. 15# mono or fluorocarbon max. Rod from 7-8 ft depending on boat, shore or surf fishing.
Q:
How many pounds of drag does this reel have?
Answer: I’m not sure bec I didn’t pay attention to how many lbs.
Q:
How many drag washers are in the reel and type of material? Front in the spool or back? Felt or carbon?
Answer: Idk bec I have not opened it to look.
Q:
Can i get a new handle
Answer: Hello. Please contact us by message and tell us your order number.
Answer: Yes.
Q:
is it a big catfish reel or bass fishing reel
Answer: it is a big reel
Answer: Depends on which size you purchase
Q:
Would this reel be good for peir fishing with 25 pound mono test line
Answer: Of course you could put 25# mono on this real, but in my opinion this is not made for a line that heavy, maybe 25# braid? First of all, you wont get much line on this reel. Second, if you plan to use that heavy line, you must be planning to catch large fish, so the brakes on this reel, probably wont hold up. If you want to go with 25# mono, I would recommend a different and larger reel.
Answer: This is a really great fishing reel! I own three of them! I mostly pier fish that need drop nets to bring the fish up! I would not use a mono test, I would use a 20 pound braided. They have a very nice blue camo pink camo and green braided line 20 pound test has a very smooth cast and an awesome Drag
Answer: I know no reason why it wouldn't. I don't have much or really any experience fishing from a peir. I used it on football size tuna and had plenty of drag to stop and turn them.
Answer: I bought 2 of these reels for salt water fidhing, from my boat in the bay. Within 2 weeks they both froze up completly useless
Answer: it would be great. I have strung them with 30 without a problem.
Answer: I feel it would b fine. I used 60 lb braid.
Answer: Yes with a sturdy rod it would be fine.
Answer: I think that would be fine.
Q:
Would this reel good for peir fishing with 25 pound mono test line
Answer: Yes sir!! I have one and I pier fish with it too
Q:
How long is the warranty on this reel
Answer: Please don't buy. The warranty doesn't matter. I bought these to allow the wife and daughter to fish for rock fish. The frame is so week that it is difficult to reel under pressure. Also the drag is super incrimental. You go from no drag to locked down with a quarter turn of the knob. In addition the reel doesn't trach the entire spool and there will be a gap in the line to the top of the spool. This creates a nightmare when the line under pressure drifts and tightens into a knot while fighting a fish. These in my opinion are garbage and not worth the small price. My two are sitting in the garage sale pile as we speak.
Q:
are the screws, spring, shaft, or any other components made out of steel or metal that will rust?
Answer: Yes, and this reel will rust! Although listed as a “saltwater reel”, mine corroded and stopped working after two surf-fishing outings. Buyer beware!
Q:
Can someone please tell me what the little bar like lever on the bottom back is for? I'm not talking about the reverse lock switch
Answer: Bait runner allows fish to run with bait click it up and flyer the fish runs with bait reel once and drag sets in
Q:
are the bearings stainless steel?
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Where can I get the bail bearing to buy for the cy3000
Answer: I would go to rod and reel repair shop and discuss it with them, they may give you one for free and offer some very good advice. most ball bearings are very similar. I would not use this reel in saltwater, ever.
Q:
What lb drag rating on the 6000 model?
Answer: I bought two of the 4000 side and can break the 20 lb test loaded on either. They are cosistant with the med to med heavy class that I bought them for.
Answer: 5
Q:
Looking for a good reel for my 10 foot heavy catfish pole. i use 65 lb spider wire. what size should i go with?
Answer: YES,I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS OR THE Kast King 5ooo,8000 0r the 9000.
Answer: 6000
Q:
How much10lb test line will the 5000 hold?
Answer: 275 great reel
Q:
Is the 6000 availble
Answer: Hello, yes it is available. Order soon.
Q:
how much will this reel take (in lbs/fish)??
Answer: Depends on line n pole u r using reel size
Answer: 30 to 40 lbs
Answer: Size 4000, up to 20Lb. Thanks!
Answer: I have a 20# spider wire on it now ! And it works great!
Q:
How do I go about getting a replacement for this reel that I purchased in July of this year?
Answer: Go back to the vender that you purchased the reel from & let them know what is wrong with the reel & when you purchased it. I did that & they sent me a new reel.
Answer: Please message us though your amazon account.
Answer: Maybe the customer service from Amazon can help.
Q:
When bait runner is engaged does it make an audible clicking sound when a fish is on? Also, does the bait runner automatically disengage when reeling?
Answer: No clicking but the bait runner does disengage on the first turn.
Answer: No sound, engaged by flipping switch
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes and yes.
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
What's the best lubricant to use for this reel ?
Answer: I used penn reel lube and spray with wd 40, but mine srill locked up becoming useless so goodluck
Answer: If it is cleaned correctly there is. I need to use a lubricant
Q:
Where was this reel make??
Answer: This reel make in China Genuine! Best Regard!
Answer: Although it's name would suggest Japan, it is actually made in China. It's quality is similar to other Chinese reels.
Answer: warehouse located in China
Q:
is the small switch on the back a bait runner, or a drag system for when you're reeling?
Answer: It's a bait runner and there is a 2nd drag knob in the rear. My experience with the reel has not been good. I've used it for surf fishing and reeling in a 4-6 ounce weight (without any fish on the line) made the line spool wobble and made retrieve difficult. I'd look for a different reel.
Answer: There are two drags on the reel. The rear is for the baitrunner drag. The lever at the back is flipped up to use the back drag. When you start to reel in line, the lever flips down and transfers the drag to the front. The bail must be closed for either drag to be in use. The knob at the rear adjusts the baitrunner drag. The main drag is adjusted like most spinning reels, on the front.
Answer: Hi: The small switch on the bottom of the reel allows you "back reel" line to the fish without affecting the drag. The large switch on the back of the reel disengages the drag and allows the bait to free spoil line out...swimming line out.
Answer: It’s for the baitrunner. Reel has two drag settings. One setting for when your reeling in (on top of reel), and one for when you flip that switch and have it in baitrunner mode(knob underside of reel)! Works great. Use it for carp
Answer: It is a bait feeder / bait runner and the black knob down below at the bottom of the reel is the drag setting for that. The main drag for the reel is the knob on top. This is a nice reel, I have really enjoyed mine.
Answer: I do not know exactly but with my fishing experience, I believes it is for letting the live bait run free and not touching the bail until you get a hit then you engaged it for the fight.
Answer: No
Q:
so this has 11 ball bearings?
Answer: Hello, thanks for asking. Yes, it got 11 ball bearings.
Answer: O yes it's everything it says in description very smooth reel and its my #1 out fishing
Answer: I can't consider as a good reel, I loose my money!
Q:
Does it have stainless steel bearings?
Answer: I have not taken my reel apart far enough to verify the bearings are stainless but i have fished this reel in saltwater for a season. So far it has been great.
Q:
How loud is the drag when baitfeeder is spooling out?
Answer: I am a senior citizen and don't have perfect hearing. When a fish gets on this reel, the clicker is loud enough for me to hear.
Answer: Hello, the clicking can be clearly heart at a smooth way.
Answer: About the same as the Okuma reels
Answer: Very quiet
Answer: It will get your attention for sure. If you use in salt water be sure to clean afterwards
Q:
How much line will the 12000 hold? Looking for a big heavy reel that can be used to cast 2 pound sinkers on a 12 ft heavy rod
Answer: Dear, thanks for your attention. Sorry this series doesn't get a size 12000. But you can try this model
Answer: This is a very good real, but not what you're looking for
Q:
can I use the 3000 for crappie fishing?
Q:
Will the Cy 6000 hold 30 pound or 40 LB braid and how much
Answer: use 40 lb braid Im guessing it would hold at least 200 yards.
Q:
Would the 6000 reel be a good fit for my 9' ugly stick for surf fishing?
Answer: That’s the exact setup that I used for surf fishing in San Diego. Good rod, BAD reel - it rusted, and stopped working after very limited use.
Answer: Yes. But you don’t necessarily need a baitfeeder reel for surf fishing.
Answer: Buy another reel, mine locked up after a month of use
Answer: Yes it should be fine I have them on 9ft catfish rods and its good balance is good I love them.
Answer: A 5000 would be best
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Can i get reel handles for this reel
Answer: Not sure.
Q:
Is there a specification chart available that shows the amount of drag pressure, for each size reel? okuma & kastking has drag compareable chart.
Answer: Yes, remember that a spinning reel will have a little less drag than a baitcaster, however keep in mind that 29 lbs. of drag is ALOT of drag for example.
Q:
About how many yards of 25lb mono will the 5000 hold
Answer: I would guess 150yds.
Q:
What's the max drag for this reel, I can't find it in the details
Q:
Has anyone used this on a large flathead setup?
Answer: These reels have enough line capacity and smooth drag system to fight large flat heads. I have set them up with 8ft. Ugly Stiks 30# to 25# Big Game Trilene or P-line, 2-3 oz wgt and circle hook. My largest catch this year was 77# and a 52# easily brought them in..
Answer: Yes I haven't had a problem it handles low 20 pounders flats and big channels I love mine I've got six and there fine
Answer: yes and it is amazing
Product reviews of Yoshikawa Baitfeeder Spinning Reel Fishing 5.5:1 11 High Power Stainless Ball Bearings 30Lb Drag Right Left Hand Saltwater Freshwater Reversible Front Rear Drag Live Liner 3000-6000
Wayne : Weak ... Twists on a 8 pound Grouper
Today I finally found the day to go out and use the new set I purchased over a month ago. I got to reel in a small grouper but the real had twisted ... the next fish was tugging and just twisted the reel at a 45˚ angle on the pole. Yeah ... that's it. I bought on the reviews and not common sense.
Amazon Customer : Good reel for the price
Spooled this with 40lb braid and it’s landed a couple bull reds, monster sailcats, a couple nice black drum, and even a 4ft bull shark. Easy to operate the drags. My only complaint would be landing bigger fish with the composite body leads to some serious wiggle. Nothing I didn’t expect though from a value priced reel.
kelvin sanchez : Chinese junk, very attractived on the outside, junk on the inside
Dont let the nice glossy gold and silver "paint" fool you. This is by far the worst reel Ive had. Why? Simply because it won't withstand "one" summer of saltwater. It corroes too fast even with maintenance and detail. Its very smooth, yes it is, I was able to cast far, yes but had nothing to do with the reel, but with the line.
Sirat2112 : Good for money
Full tension is not really what you would think it should be.
In all fairness I’m comparing it to my Penn reel approximately same size
anthony : Drag not working right
I received this reel on Jan. 9, 2019 and with the rain wasn't able to bring out until Jan. 27, 2019, the reel I got was not manufactured properly. I took it out one time, casted out into the water, tightened my line and the reel just started spinning making a terrible metal on metal grinding sound. I was confused and tried to reel it in and nothing. I had to flick my bait feeder switch, tighten the drag on it and walk backwards just to get my line mostly out of the water, which worked but the regular drag is not mechanically sound. luckily I didn't lose much of my line I'm so very disappointed in this reel. I will try to get my money back or a replacement for sure.
Daniel E. : This is a monster reel for price, it plays no games!
Absolutely a great reel! You can use it for all around everything behind the boat or casting for big king salmon! It's a powerhouse reel!
Kevin S. : The price is right
I brought this reel I'm having a ball with it I caught a 4 pound Red fish and a 2 pound Flounder, catching big fresh water catfish l Recommend this reel to anyone who likes to fish.
mike kenny : Junk
Nothing but a piece of junk, rear drag adjustment doesn't adjust at all, my granddaughters Barbi rod and reel works better. Unfortunately because it was a gift I waited over the 30 day return policy so I'm stuck with it
Jerry : Made of plastic
Never had a chance to use reel broke right away nuts made of plastic. I cannot recommend
Amazon Customer : It's smooth the first couple of big hits.
It's smooth the first couple of big hits, After a few more hit, drag get very sticky and doesn't sync well with back drag.
Dino bambino : great value
for the price this reel is made with quality. Not made with plastic parts.
Janelle M : My husband says this is one of the best reels he has had for the cost and he ...
My husband says this is one of the best reels he has had for the cost and he would recommend the yoshikawa reel to others.
David : Should have went with f
It was ok for the price, but some some reason o expected more. Did not meet my standards. I tried it for the price, but I have should spent $20 dollars more and got the Okuma Baitfeeder
Chuck Neely : Arrived and performed as advertised.
This is an excellent reel with plenty of line capacity and very smooth operation. The dual drag system was a pleasant surprise. The only complaint is that there was no owners manual included so you will have to figure out the drag system for your self.
dean g : Poor quality
First one wouldn’t reel from the box. The company replaced and the second one the drag broke the second day of fishing with it.
William Wood : Five Stars
The reel is working good tight line fishing in the Mississippi River.
Miami Magnet : Smooth as Silk reeling with the addn
double drag system ... helpful in live bait fishing to allow fish to eat bait without tension before setting hook
Customer : It worked just like the description said
I just got back today from using the new real. It worked just like the description said. I caught way more fish that were just nibbling because of the bait feeder system. It really is really smooth and cast great. I liked it so much I ordered a second for my other pole.
Dave Gomme : I had such high hopes for this reel
This review is about the CY 6000. I absolutely love the features and price, but after two years of regular use I just can't recommend this reel. The flex in the arm makes it nearly unusable for any decent sized fish, to the point where I've worried I would snap it, and causes noticeable spool wobble even reeling in an empty rig with a 6oz weight. It boggles my mind this isn't mentioned in more reviews. As of this weekend it's developed a noticeable grind during retrievals, so it's time to retire this reel and pony up for a higher tier reel.
I had also purchased a CY 5000 but never mounted it. The line leveling action broke when I accidentally knocked it off my workbench while removing the previous reel. I notched that up to my clumsiness, but I don't recall having broken a Penn or Shimano with the abuse I've given them.
Lynn R. Austin : Looks An cast great
Finally got a chance to use it today. Works really well. Even caught a fish.
James l Hubbard : Nice reel
Fishing reel is great for freshwater
Kayakfisher : Good design for price.
Good, solid reel fir the price. In first use, I used the bait-feeder feature to hook a nice salmon. Worked as designed to let fish take the bait without spitting it out before setting the hook with bait well inside mouth. Strong retrieve and drag to successfully land the fish.
Elena : Good quality
Used it. Liked it. Just be aware that sizevwise it's on a smaller side. This one is too small for 12' surf rod
no name : Super buy!
fishing with this reel for a month, daily , surf casting , NO problems , Super buy !! will buy another !
Lauren Cleveland : got the biggest one and i love it
got 70lb braid on this thing for catfish paired with a Shakespeare wildcat 8 foot med heavy rod. i love it i want to buy another. cast far and the very large reel can pull in a TON of line quick and cast 100 yards+ with a ounce weight. im seriously considering buying another for my salmon rod. would recommend as it really deserves to be more expensive and feels like a expensive name brand reel.

joseph mcdonald : Yoshikawa saltwater bait runner fishing reel
I'm impressed with the smooth action and the casting . This reel is perfect for big catfish or whatever takes your bait. Great price for a reel that does the job right. I'm definitely interested in owning several more.
C. Evans : Not a bait feeder.
Not a bait feeder. Just a regular reel. Does not have a way to feed the line out so the fish can’t feel the drag.
anthony : Drag not working right
I received this reel on Jan. I will try to get my money back or a replacement for sure.

lloyd Stiles : Works perfect and as described
Caught five fifteen to twenty pound blue cats on this reel the day after receiving it. Works flawless. Best reel I have ever owned. Came packaged perfectly had next day delivery. I can't complain. The only thing that I think could use improvement is the bait click is not very loud but again. I can't complain
Kenneth Kopperl : Bought Two
I liked the first one so much, I bought a second. Great deal for the money.
john s. : Great for my rod pod and carp
Loving the reels. Great for my rod pod and carp fishng
JBH : I used this item fishing in Belize and was NOT disappointed. It drew the attention of the local guides ...
I have purchased several of these reels in various sizes and configurations of features. The common thread is the quality of design and manufacture. The drag is the smoothest I have encountered at any price point. Fit and.finish is extrordinary for the cost. Polished aluminum spools and low volume gearcases along with multiple ball bearings round out the overall quality. I used this item fishing in Belize and was NOT disappointed. It drew the attention of the local guides and fisherman.
Susan Tonic : Works well
Fit perfectly
Richard Braham : Light weight and easy to use.
Bought this in 2018 and so far it's one of my best light tackle reel. No problems so far. As with all fishing equipment you have to wash off with fresh water after fishing on salt water. And keep them serviced. I've also bought 2 of the 6000 series for bigger tackle.
Tim : Update on my previous review
(The first one I bought malfunctioned in the first week of use. Dr Fish replaced it with absolutely no argument. Excellent service. The new reel works great!). When I wrote this review, it was true. I'm into my second season with the new reel and the bail has corroded and broken. It has always been misted with fresh water to rinse the saltwater off. Wherever there was "chrome", it peeled off starting almost immediately. I've tried to attach a picture, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm very disappointed with this product.
Joshua : Weak
Used one time. Hooked into a decent sized catfish and the gears were grinding while trying to reel in the fish. I know how to use drag and how to properly fight a fish. This just felt like a very old reel
Amazon Customer : Easy
Had a screw in bail that was too tight and would not allow bail to close. Easy adjustment

Amazon Customer : I wouldn’t recommend for heavy action
Used for attaching a snare rig to catch Dungeness crabs.
Strength was poor as I was struggling to reel in and reel was off balanced as it would wabble.
Installed on a 10’ Shakespeare rod

Rob Weatherly : Excellent value
Performs well and easy to use. The feel of this reel is tight and sensitive- it pairs well with a nice 9-10 ft rod for surf fishing.
Jim : Looks good but is cheaply made
It at first seems like a good reel but after closer examination the crank handle is really weak and has play in it even when tightened up. The crank handle is really cheap pot metal or plastic and if you put even medium pressure on it as landing a fish I wouldn't trust it. No one else brought this up but on the one I received that was the case. I am returning it and spending a bit more and hopefully getting a better quality reel.
Christian Payne : Fish product
Have not used as yet but it fits perfect and the weight distribution is good
bruce : Double drag works great
Pretty smooth good value for the money. Great kids starter
Miami Magnet : Smooth as Silk reeling with the addn
double drag system ... helpful in live bait fishing to allow fish to eat bait without tension before setting hook

Daniel E. : This is a monster reel for price, it plays no games!
Absolutely a great reel! You can use it for all around everything behind the boat or casting for big king salmon! It's a powerhouse reel!
