Lew's Mach 2 Spinning Reel

The Mach 2 reel is a good all-purpose reel and features a lightweight yet rugged aluminum body, skeletal C40 carbon rotor and smooth 10-bearing system. The aluminum bail is strong and balanced. The spool is double anodized ported knurled aluminum. Pinion gear is precision-cut solid brass. Zero Reverse anti-reverse is rock solid and reliable. Gear ratio is high-speed 6.2:1 that is appropriate for a broad range of fishing applications. The fold-down anodized aluminum handle is fitted with a Winn Dri-Tac knob.

Answer: 10 - 12 max is what I recommend. I use 20lb Power Pro braid.

What size should I get 6-6 medium action rod, fishing for small mouth....?

Answer: I would recommend at least a 200 model . My solace 200 uses up to 10 lb. test. a 300 would use up to 12 lb. test. mono of corse. you can always use much heavier brad.

Answer: You can pretty much use whatever type of line you want on the spinning reels. But it is a very good reel!! My older brother and my 8 year old have one. So it’s for all ages.

Answer: I would recommend the smaller 200 size if I was buying it for that purpose.

Different reel sizes and line test

Answer: Yes. I do a lot of Steelhead/Salmon Fishing. I find the larger reels obviously hold more line. I even go up in lb test of what reel states. Example: 300 yds at 12lb. I always...always use 15 lb mono to 12 lb flourocarbon leader (sometimes 15-15). U can always get more braided line on a reel of anysize compare to mono or fluoro. I have one reel rigged with braid. I just don't care for how it sounds when ya hook a King or Steelhead & it starts ripping line. Sounds weird to me. But, I'm and old guy and grew up using mono since I was 5 or 6 yrs. old.
