Or, Amazon shows the Alijoz with a single handle and a double handle, just not on the same listing. One listing has the single handle, the other has the double handle.

Answer: If you mean the side plate it has an oldschool screw type of lock that is on the handle side which holds the side plate. But I dont really think you would want to lubricate that because you can only access the the spool and the brake magnets from there.

Answer: Most people would use right hand reel if they are right handed myself I use left hand and cast right handed do some fake casting with your hands and see if you will reel left or right handed

Answer: It all depends on what your fishing for. I cant speak for the phantom , I purchased the Alijoz 300 and love it. I Have 2 now. I Use it in the ocean for top water fishing for calico bass etc. Once you get the spool tension set up it is very easy and smooth to cast. As far as birdnesting goes it is a matter of getting use to the reel. I put on old line and practiced in my yard.

Answer: I am inlove with me 8.1 Gear Ratio. You can use it to cast some hefty lures, and even surface irons for tuna. That being said, this reel dishes out a ton of drag, a plastic reel holder will break before this reel does.

Is the 5:9:1 ratio gears larger than the 8:1:1 ratio?

Answer: the gearing is different which means that if you have a larger fish with a lower speed gear ratio you can crank the handle and pull line in easier THAN with a faster retrieve rate. Using the reel for larger saltwater species to go with the slower gear ratio. If you want to use it for inshore species I would go with 8:1. I use this for larger lipless crank baits and love it for that purpose. I would go with the double handle. Soft Steel Braid ❤️

Answer: The higher ratio means a quicker retrieve, but less power. 8 to 1 means one turn of the reel gives you 8 times that amount of line retrieve with each turn.

This reel is AWESOME! I recently learned how to use a baitcaster and had a lot of problems with backlash. Not with this reel. It's really good with backlash.
This real is also very fast and smooth. At times, it feels like you're not reeling in your catch but it's in front of you before you know it.

I just bought my 4th Alijos 300. These reels are absolutely amazing. Once you set them up properly they're trouble free. I throw 8oz swimbaits easily.
I've pulled up 22lb lingcod from 400ft down with no problem. I've pulled up 50lb stingrays with no problem. I've pulled up 12lb halibut easily. I've pulled up double loop 8lb vermilions 2 at a time with no problem.
This reel is like a tow truck winch. Plenty of drag. No need to contemplate. This is excellent value for the money.

Amazon removed the original review and I would wonder if they partnered with this company.

At any rate you can see the anodizing quality of the product is leaving much to be desired. They machined the spools way to fast and hot causing the metal to gall and it shows in the anodizing quality. Some loose components. I feel it needs to be greased as the reel feels very gritty and not very smooth. It at least controls birdsnest. If that's what you are searching for look at the cheaper torrent version and save yourself some money for plastics and your hard baits.

Don't hesitate to pick this one up, its a great reel! You can spend LOTS more for basically the same thing! I haven't used on salt, nor do I expect to, but for Lake Fishing, its a monster that won't let you down. Seemed like a good reel but second time I took it out the handle engage on the spool doesn’t work anymore. Luckily it still has the button to engage the reel and that works still (so far) so it’s useable at least. Caught a couple calico bass and barracuda on it and it held up. But can’t see the reel lasting very long due to the issues I’m already experiencing.

Never was a bait cast guy but I won a great custom bait cast reel and I decided to give this a try. Its seems I've been scared for no reason. This reel has a great 8:1 gear ratio and it has a break system on it to help stop bird nesting. As you get better you can get to the point to release the brake and let it fly. Great reel.

Updated review 3 stars: Customer service delivered a replacement reel free of charge. I will use it as a second setup for fishing trips. I'm not sure the components of this reel are up to it's drag rating, but I appreciate the fact Piscifun was willing to send a new reel as replacement.
Original Review 1 star: Bought this in June and used for a grand total of four fishing trips. While it worked it was great. Today I went to replace the line and the reel refused to take up line. The casting lever engages and clicks fully back into place. I've tried adjusting both the drag and spool tension to no avail. Have a fishing trip in two days and now I will have to find a new reel. First reel I've ever had this problem with. Piscifun lists a limited 12 month warranty. I'm not very hopeful. Spend your money on something with a proper warranty or pray you have better luck than me.
