product description
With its feather-light design and buttery-smooth drag, the Pflueger Supreme XT Spinning Fishing Reel empowers anglers to perform at their best. The lightest Pflueger reel in its class, this spinning reel features an ultralightweight magnesium body and rotor that offers superb rigidity without burdening your rod with excess weight. Built for silky-smooth drag performance, the sealed carbon drag system brings hard-pulling fish to a halt and remains well-lubricated even after long periods of harsh use. Seasoned anglers will also appreciate the SMARTretrieve feature, which ensures high-precision line lay with every cast. The Supreme XT spinning reel is incredibly comfortable thanks to its EVA handle knob, effortlessly smooth retrieve, and a carbon handle that is 21 percent lighter than aluminum. A braid-ready spool allows braid to be tied directly to the spool without a monofilament backing, making this fishing reel an ideal choice for a wide range of species and angling applications.

Questions about Pflueger SUPXTSP30X Supreme XT Spinning Fishing Reel
Q:
What is the line capacity for monofilament of 6lb, 8 lb, and 10lb? Also, what is the gear ratio?
Answer: gear ratio is 6.2 to 1 line capacity is 145 yds for 6lb and 130 for 8lb none given for 10lb.
Answer: Line capacity depends on the size of the reel you select. Check out the Pflueger webpage; it's all right there.
Q:
Does the xl 30 have a switch that puts the bail in the correct position for your next cast ..with the roller & line top dead center?
Answer: You can always turn off the anti reverse and set it to the correct position needed.
Answer: No. It stops randomly, depending upon where you stop reeling in.
Answer: No
Answer: No, it doesnt
Q:
Did anyone have issues with nesting? I've tried spooling different, tried letting line out behind the boat, tried 4 brands of flourocarbon. I'm reel.
Answer: Brian, again the line comes off the spool in the same direction of the rotation of the reel...your reel rotates counterclockwise...lay the spool on the ground and run it through a couple of guides, hold the tension on the line as you spool this is critical especially with fluorocarbon...the line...looking down on the spool is coming off counterclockwise...do not over fill your reel...hope this helps
Answer: Brian, I use Pflueger reels exclusively for the most part, fluorocarbon will "nest" no matter what the brand of reel...I find that Pline and the new Trilene fluorocarbon to work the best...there is only one way that I know how to put line on a spinning reel...holding the reel up in front of you looking from the back of the reel and reeling, watch the bail rotation...usually counterclockwise...that's the way the line has to come off the spool of new line...hope this helps...don't give up and good fishing
Answer: Fluorocarbon is very stiff, which causes it jump off the spool of a spinning reel once the bail is opened, creating a "bird's nest." I have been very happy with fluorocarbon on baitcaster reels, but not on a spinning reel.
Answer: I had no problem. Love the reel. Could be the fluorocarbon or the installation.
Answer: I did, but I spooled it the wrong direction so it was my fault.
Answer: Always use swivels when possible and I use 15' of floro as a leader the rest is mono or braid.
Answer: No problems. Use trilene 8lb
Q:
How would this reel do in salt water surf fishing would it be ok to use and rinse after every use
Answer: Bearings are not sealed, corrosive resistant stainless steel bearings. The reel is a little small for for surf fishing. Great reel for wading a bay, although still maybe too small. Just don't get saltwater inside, time consuming to disassemble, re-lube, and reassemble.
Answer: I just purchased one for saltwater, I don't freshwater fish and I don't have any concern about using it in saltwater. It's a magnesium alloy that is coated and the manufacturer says it approved for saltwater. Magnesium has a higher reaction than aluminum so everyone gets their panties in a bunch over it. Clean it after use and wipe it down with a cloth and some furniture Polish. That's what I do with all my reels and you should clean any reel after use in any water condition. Pull it apart every 6mo and deep clean and re grease depending on use.
Answer: Non sealed bearings aren't the issue. A Magnesium body and rotor will not fare well in salt water.
Answer: I wouldn't use this word in saltwater I don't believe it has sealed bearings.
Q:
Is this a good reel to match with a medium light St. Croix (6.6’, medium light, 1 piece)?
Answer: This is an excellent reel for the money, I purchased 8 of them and have not had any problems so far, as we are tournament anglers. Great combo with that rod. Good luck.
Answer: Perfect reel for that. I use mine on my ML st croix all the tine.
Answer: Reel is awesome! I would think that to be a great combination!
Answer: I’d go with a size 30 on that rod but I love these reels and highly recommend them
Q:
Does this reel gave a metal spool & Re extra spools availabe ?
Answer: Spools are metal. Extra spools are available. Parts and an extra spool come from a third party. The color is different but it works fine. Weird.
Q:
Can the handle be switched from right to left handed?
Answer: Yes, handle can be used on either side.
Answer: Yes. This is an awesome reel. I have the size 30 and 35 and both are really nice! Enjoy!
Answer: Yes, easily by just unscrewing the bolt and swapping sides.
Q:
I like to fish for pan fish and largemouth bass. Will this be a good reel for me? If not, what size would?
Answer: It would work fine but I would go with the 25XT on an ultra light rod. I have that setup and it's a blast catching pan fish and the occasional bass.
Answer: That would be an excellent us for this reel.
Q:
What rod and line would match up best with the 30 for a beginning “catch all” rig?
Answer: 6’6” or 7’ medium action rod with 8lb test fluorocarbon line
Answer: 6"-6" Medium, fast tip, 8lb test mono/fluro or 10lb test braid...
Answer: 6’8 inch medium power st croix triumph with 8 lb trilene extra smooth red box.
Answer: I have mine on 6'6" medium action Triumph by st. Croix with fast tip.
Answer: I went with the uglyatick gx2 with 15lb spiderline
Answer: I use 20 lb. braid.
Answer: 7 ft
Q:
Best for walleye
Answer: I don't know, have not caught a walleye with it yet. It probably depends on your method of fishing. I would suspect it would fine in most situations for walleye, this reel is a good all around spinning reel.
Answer: Walleye is the type of fish we are always after. Anything else is catch and release.
Answer: 40
Q:
What is the weight of a flu gir supreme XT size 30 spinning real
Answer: 7.1 OUNCES
Answer: 7.1 oz
Q:
Does anyone know the weight of the supxtsp30x?
Answer: 6.8 oz
Answer: According to Pfluegers website it is 6.8oz.
Q:
Is the modeel 25X a 6.2.1 gear ratio?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does this have a lever to allow reverse direction of the bail while cranking?
Answer: No. Not that I can recall
Q:
Might be a silly question but the manufacturer in the description says "pure fishing rods & combos." is this a legit pflueger product?
Answer: Pure Fishing owns Abu, Pflueger and Shakespeare. Pure Fishing is owned by Newell...and they own many many many companies.
Answer: I returned the reel to Pflueger for a repair but due to warranty they sent me a new unit, so I guess this is legit.
Answer: I bought my reels from a different seller, but yes, the reels I purchased and receive looked just like the one pictured and was manufactured by Pflueger. I love the reel by the way!
Answer: Absolutely! This is a great reel. I recommend it highly.
Q:
How much mono does a pfluegersupxtsp30x hold
Answer: What test?
Q:
What size should i get for st. croix eyecon 6.6ft mlf spinning rod?
Answer: I use a #40 on a Lew’s 7’ custom stick and really like it. It’s a great reel. I prefer the larger size, so I would recommend the 40, but that’s my personal preference you should choose what works best for you.
Q:
What material is the bail made from. Where is the reel made from?
Answer: The bail is metal. Not sure where it is made. But I use it and love this reel.
Q:
looking for a good reel for monster lake trout through the ice do you recommend the 35 or the 40? would be mounting on a 40" tucr lake trout precision
Answer: Normally I would say the 35 would be sufficient. However, you said, ”ice”. Given the fact that you will not the luxury of using maximum rod leverage, the 40 may be in order. If you are planning on using braided line, that would finalize my decision.
Answer: Go with a 40 or larger because I fish in South Georgia for bream and catfish and they can strain the 35. That’s my 2 cents
Answer: 35 is plenty...
Q:
What year model is this reel?
Answer: 2019
Q:
Would this work well with a 7.5ft ul rod?
Answer: No reason why it wouldn't. It's light though, so the rod may feel a little off-balance.
Answer: Yes, absolutely, I use it with a 9 foot ultra light for trout and steelhead. It's a good reel. The only issue I ever have is line tangle, with other reels on the same rod I don't have that issue.
Answer: Yes, I use it with a 7ft med rod, the reel is super lightweight and one of my favorite reels!!
Answer: The SUPXTSP25X would probably be a better choice for an ultralight.
Answer: Sure would but if you're going with an ultra light pole you might want the 25x which is smaller. Dicks carries the entire line. Go into the store and check it out. Love the reel by the way.
Answer: It's a very light reel so the balance may be off a little. Might up the reel size to compensate.
Answer: Definitely...great reel...should balance out well...
Answer: Absolutely. In my opinion, it would be an excellent match.
Q:
I would like to use this with a fenwick hmg light action rod for trout fishing. is the 30 the right size for this combo?
Answer: I use it for bass fishing on a medium light rod and its the perfect for me because I like to use small reels. You could go down to a 25 but they are really small, to small for me. I hope this helps a little.
Answer: this will work...you should go by the line capacity for the size of line you want to use and the amount of line for the type of fishing, I have a 30X on a 6' 6" medium light St. Croix with 6lb test fluorocarbon line and it works well...this is a nice reel...25X is smaller with less line capacity
Answer: Yes! Currently using mine on a 4'-6" single component St. Croix Ultra-Light Premium Graphite rod.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Is this a left hand retrieve?
Answer: It is set as a Left hand retrieve, but it is very easy to switch to right hand retrieve as well.
Answer: You can switch the handle from one side to the other for right or left hand retrieve.
Answer: Can be left or right
Answer: The handle can be put on either side...
Answer: THE HANDLE CAN BE PUT ON EITHER SIDE, SO...YES.
Answer: It can be either. It's very easy to change
Answer: You put the crank handle on either side so yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
It says that the reel would be shipped in 1 to 2 months. Is that correct ?
Answer: Mine shipped in two days.
Q:
what pound fluorocarbon line can be used with this reel
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I use 20 pound braid and a 10 or so fluoro leader
Q:
Going to be using 6lbs.test mono for perch. What size reel
Answer: 30. But I really like using 6lb braided line with fluorocarbon covering and fly line backing. You can cast a mile with a number 1 lure with this combination.
Answer: These reels run small. 6-6.5’ rod, 2000. Over 6.5’ rod 3000.
Answer: Go on pflueger website on click on the reel u want and has the different sizes with all the information you need and go back to Amazon and order it.. like I did
Answer: The 25X has line capacity of 90 yards of 6lb test and 30X has line capacity of 145 yards of 6lb test. The preference is up to you.
Answer: I would go with the 25 or 30
Answer: I have the 30 and it works excellent for crappie, blue-gil, perch and walleye.
Answer: I have a #25 that I use an love it.
Q:
Just purchased my first spinning reel (a Supxtsp30x). How often should I clean and oil this reel?
Answer:
Answer:
Q:
Description of Pfluger supreme xt
Answer: This is a great reel.
Q:
how much 20 lb braided line can this reel handle? thinking of using spiderwire ultracase paired with the supxtsp30x.
Answer: This is what is listed on the box.
Q:
does this work good with the Shakespeare ugly stik
Answer: I have used this with an "Ugly Stik" and it works fine, although I prefer my "fenwick HMG Spinning Rod, 6.75'", med. light. The fenwick has a better feel and more response to strikes in my opinion.
Answer: It will work fine with any spinning compatible rod
Answer: Yes it would work fine with an ugly stick.
Answer: Should be fine.
Answer: Yes...
Q:
Line capacity of the 25
Answer: XT 25: Mono Capacity yd/lb
Answer: A little more than a year ago I moved from mono to braided coated with fluorocarbon. So the line capacity is very hard to determine. I like the braided line a lot better.
Answer: Open question here. Need more info. Test line? Mono or braid?
Answer: Check at Pflueger’s web site
Q:
It says 1-2 months to ship, is this true?
Answer: Mine shipped in 2 days
Q:
what model is this the 30 or 35
Answer: It depends on which model you choose from the product page. Looks like there are 4 different ones you can choose from. Pretty easy.
Answer: 30
Answer: The one I ordered was a 30.
Answer: Good question. I've ordered 3 of these reels all sizes. Look for a different seller who has the size listed. Great reel.
Q:
I have a 36 inch dead stick for ice fishing would the size 30 be good?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I always buy my reels depending on the line size and capacity I need. Forget the weight and length of rod, the reel seat location determines balance for the most part. What size fish are you going after and at what depth are you fishing? That’s how id determine size
Answer: Yep. It would be a good size. I lived in Minnesota for two years.
Answer: I can find no reason that would be negative in this use. I have this reel and am pleased with it.
Q:
What is difference between this and the pflueger supreme spinning fishing reel? i am just getting back into fishing and want a do it all reel to start
Answer: The XT is a little lighter and has a better drag and has a little better corrosion resistance. Both are great reels for the price and will be a good fit for a genera all around medium spinning rod.
Answer: Supreme is just freshwater rated and Supreme XT is rated for saltwater use.
Q:
What is the Line capacity for the supspxt35
Answer: That depends on line used I run Berkeley Nanofil on mine and will fit an entire spool of 10# plus a few winds of floro backer
Q:
What size is the reel.
Answer: The reel is 1 3/4" in diameter.
Answer: 30 xt
Q:
Does the reel come with two spools
Answer: No, the spool is set up for braid / mono/ fluoro.
Answer: no, it does not come with 2 spools anymore
Answer: no
Answer: It does not.
Answer: No.
Answer: Only one.
Answer: No, just one.
Q:
Do you have extra spools available?
Answer: Spools were not available from the manufacturer. There is a third party that will supply a spool. It works fine but does not look like original. Plain silver! The cost was $26. Weird support system.
Q:
Is this a good reel for ultralight rod
Answer: Yes, great reel and super light!! One of my favorite reels.
Answer: I'd go with the SUPXTSP25X for an ultralight. Great reel though!
Answer: Yes. It would be excellent!
Answer: Yes
Q:
Will the 25 take 4lb test?
Answer: I don’t see why 4lb. test line would be a problem. I would think it would work fine.
Answer: I use 6 lb on mine. Never had a problem, don't see why you would with 4 lb.
Answer: Yes, it will.
Q:
This is right hand?
Answer: Yes. I am right handed, the crank is on the left so you control the rod with the dominant hand. You can move the handle to right side if you want to if you prefer to crank with right hand.
Answer: The handle is reversible, so it can be right or left handed
Answer: Its both right handed and left handed, just unscrew the handle and install it from the opposite side.
Answer: This reel is ambidextrous, You just simply swap handle from one side to the other.
Answer: What Claw said you can switch it to opposite side in seconds
Q:
which model should i use for 12 pound fluorocarbon line
Answer: 40. Largest they have.
Q:
Does it come with extra spool?
Answer: No, but the spool on it is set up to accept braid if wanted. You can buy spare spools I think.
Q:
Does this reel come with extra
Answer: Does not come with an extra spool, great reel, highly recommended.
Answer: Comes with just the reel. The reel itself is everything I expected. I love it.
Answer: I'm assuming you mean an extra spool. No it does not come with an extra spool.
Answer: Spools? No. The spool that's on it is set up for braid and mono/fluoro.
Answer: No!
Q:
Im new to using spinning reels, so can i use this reel for catching panfish, crappie in particular
Answer: Its way overkill for panfish. You don't need a $110 real for crappies...but yes it will sure work with a light line and the smallest size.
Answer: Absolutely. Match it to an ultra-light or light rod and enjoy.
Answer: Absolutely! And also for bass, largemouth and smallmouth, and walleye.
Answer: Yea, should be fine.
Answer: Yes, it will work for any of those.
Product reviews of Pflueger SUPXTSP30X Supreme XT Spinning Fishing Reel
Gerald W Rowen : Five Stars
Great reel would buy again
Gerard G. : ... my President kept breaking and assumed it would be better parts. Bail arm guide (plastic) and spring both ...
Bought the Supreme because my President kept breaking and assumed it would be better parts. Bail arm guide (plastic) and spring both broke within a year. Supreme now 15 months old and broke spring after 6 months and bail return mechanism just broke. Both reels seem to have same parts which aren't available from manufacturer (parts catalog says obsolete).
Fixed Supreme with new spring and three months later bail arm wore out (replacement not available). Why do they still sell these reels?
Mr. Minecraft : Super light, very smooth
Fabulous reel. Super light, very smooth. Paired with Fenwick Elite Tech walleye rod, 6'6". Works fabulous for jigging, light bottom bouncers. Spoiled with Suffix 832. Awesome set up, will buy again.
Frank K : Great Reel
After reviewing several different reels I selected this one. Great reel, same features as reels costing twice as much.
Todd : Quality Product!
Very please with this reel. It is light and durable. I also have the Supreme(not XT) model, also good.
alyssa : Great reel
Awesome Reel the drag is incredibly smooth, my only gripe is the paint chipped on a part of the reel after only 2 months(used 3 times a week) would be 5 stars if the paint didn't chip, and would/will purchase again if the price remains lower.
Eli : Great reel
It’s a bit on the small size for a 35 size reel, not much bigger than my 1000 series Shimano. With that said, I love the thing. It’s phenominal on my dropshot rig. Smooth drag, reels like butter.
The Jew Unit : Great real
Great action. Quite. Casts great
Isabel P. : Bueno
Buen carrete para pescar peces grandes y pequeños
M. : Five Stars
Great quality reel!
Amazon Customer : 5 stars!
Great reels. Fast, smooth and reliable! 5 stars across the board!
Amazon Customer : This is a great reel. Pflueger is my favorite reel and this ...
This is a great reel. Pflueger is my favorite reel and this one is well worth the money. It can handle small jobs and it can handle the bigger fish as well. I use braid with a mono leader and I fish for bass ans crappie of all size.
Aidan W. : Great Reel
I have had this reel for 3 years now, i must say this a great reel for the money and i highly recommend it. I own the 30x and have it on a 6’6 ugly stick gx2 and it performs great for trout and bass and some light inshore.
Joe Glenn Leewright Jr. : Smooth and fast retrieve.
Saltwater inshore fishing
Gabor M. : no spare spool and its handle when you turn backwards is really easy to come off the reel
The reel is really small. Smaller than the usual 1ooo reels in other brands..no spare spool and its handle when you turn backwards is really easy to come off the reel. That is what I don't like it the most in this reel. Otherwise it looks ok I hope it will last for a long for time for me
Chad B : Great Reel!
Beautiful reel, smooth, light, strong, I prefer this over the Stradic reel I bought at the same time.
Cedar1 : Super
Super
Haoma : love the light weight, but the quality needs improve
The reel was light and smooth. Prior to this reel I have using the President. I was impressed with light weight. However, after using several weeks, the line clip was totally off. It is the first time I have this problem with Pflueger reels.
Eric Roth : Best reel for the money
I have had a lot of reels over the years as I fish a ton. I own many of these reels and keep buying them for my new rods... I love them and if you don't want to spend this much and are going fresh water buy the President line that they also make and you will be happy.
Nickels : Amazing, highest of quality! Perfect.
Meets and exceeds all expectations. I have a president, purist and now the SupremeXT. This is light years beyond either of the two other models. The purist is practically just a different color president that doesn't last as long and is more money.
The SupremeXT is worth all the extra money and I recommend buying this and overlooking the purist if you want a Reel high quality spinning unit. I bought the 1330 which is perfect on my 6' rod. Pflueger really out did themselves on this one! Highly recommend this one if you want a long lasting reel.
The Jew Unit : Great real
Great action. Quite. Casts great
AH7 : Perfect. Quality made. Thanks.
Perfect. Quality made. Thanks.

Fixed Supreme with new spring and three months later bail arm wore out (replacement not available). Why do they still sell these reels?
Taylor920 : Great deal
Great deal
Xeng V. : Dont buy! Trash and over priced
Cheap reel. The anti reverse broke in like the 3rd outing! Worst reel for the money! Buy a shimano ci4 instead! This reel here is cheap and built cheap.
Larry Huddleson : The best reel I have ever used.
The smoothness and quietness of this reel makes it a necessity for every fisherman.
gary : Reel feels fine have used it and caught fish
Reel feels fine have used it and caught fish. Bail I thought was a little stiff when snapping back but otherwise a fine reel.
John Armstrong : The handle keeps falling off
I bought one of these for my dad and later bought one for me as we both like to fish.
The reel is nice. The only gotcha is the reel handle keeps backing off - loosening on its own. It seemed like every time I picked up the rod this reel is on, it would be floppy loose where the thread backed off on their own.
This last weekend I attached it to my backpack on a fishing trip walking in. I did not go through any rough brush.
The handle fell off during my walk to the lake. A replacement handle is $28 + $5 slow shipping. I'll be wrapping the new one in thread seal tape to keep it in place.
gary : Reel feels fine have used it and caught fish
Reel feels fine have used it and caught fish. Bail I thought was a little stiff when snapping back but otherwise a fine reel.
danno : This is a very good reel. It is smaller than I had thought ...
This is a very good reel. It is smaller than I had thought but is powerful and casts well. Reason I give it four stars is that I also own the Presidents and those are true 5 stars. Use it with St Croix medium/light rod.
Rissa Leigh : ... been out with this twice so far but I LOVE it. It's so smooth
I've only been out with this twice so far but I LOVE it. It's so smooth. I put 10 lb braided line on it and I can cast very far.
Update: this was year two with this fishing reel and I fish ALOT. It is perfect and by far the best reel I have ever used. I have had no problems with it at all.
TBomb : Works
Purchased as a gift, I hear it is doing the job
Anthony C. : Smooth but solid reel
Smooth as silk but tough. Caught more bass with this reel than anything I’ve ever used in 50 years of fishing. Bail could be easier to trip but easy to get used to.
Ruben Colon : Five Stars
Excellent product
Amazon Customer : 5 stars!
Great reels. Fast, smooth and reliable! 5 stars across the board!
Zeino : Five Stars
love it...although I wish it came with a spare spool
Jade W. : Love this reel!!!!!
Love this reel!!!!! Light and fast. Perfect finesse reel.
Jennifer Hughes : Quality issues
Are use it for one summer took it out this summer caught a bass around 4 pounds on it and the handle broke I think very good care of my rods and reels I cover the rods that cover the Reels
Scott Hansen : Heaven in your hand!
Amazing reel. I have many and this is my go to for Bass...
Mr. Minecraft : Super light, very smooth

Jarrid Juse : Nice product
Beautiful reel. Can’t wait to try it out.
The Jew Unit : Great real
Great action. Quite. Casts great
Joshua Lewis : Four Stars
Good reel. Not worth the price to me. Smother action from Mitchell 300.
Z : Preforms above its price
Great reel. Works as good or better than my buddies at twice the price.
AQ : Really love the Pflueger brand
Really love the Pflueger brand. Smooth spinning reel and it is super light. I paired it up with a Fenwick HMG rod and I'm really impressed with this combination. Would definitely buy this reel again!
Anthony C. : Smooth but solid reel
Smooth as silk but tough. Caught more bass with this reel than anything I’ve ever used in 50 years of fishing. Bail could be easier to trip but easy to get used to.
Steve S. : Just what I ordered
Awesome
Taylor920 : Great deal
Great deal
edward glavin : Good but not Great
I like the feel and balance of this real but honestly I’m disappointed with its casting distance and it’s smoothness.
I ran it with 10lb mono and then tried 30lb braided with a 10lb mono leader...not much difference.
Overall it’s just okay,
I have better reels at the same or even lower price mark that cast out a lot further and retrieve a lot smoother.
Quality is really good, it’s built well and I believe it will hold up well.
