Questions about KastKing Valiant Eagle Gold Spinning Reel - 6.2:1 High-Speed Gear Ratio, Freshwater and Saltwater Fishing Reel, Faster Line Retrieve, Braid Ready Spool, 7+1 Shielded Stainless Steel Ball Bearings
Q:
Would the 2000 or 3000 pair up better with the 7 ft perigee rod?
Answer: Depends what you're fishing for. I have a 2000 on my heavy action, I have a 20lb braid and bankfish for mostly stripers in the 5-15lb range. Most people would use a 3000 since you can get an extra 50 yards or so of line. I'm constantly on my pole so I don't get spooled.
Answer: Probably 2000
Q:
Where are they manufactured?
Answer: There are no major brands of fishing reel made in the USA. 95% of all fishing reels are made in the same couple factories in China. There are a few made in S Korea. Shimano is one of the only ones made in Japan because they own their own factories. Abu Garcia, Lew's, KastKing, Piscifun, 13Fishing all are made in the exact same factories in China.
Answer: KastKing is featured in several internet reports as being made in the USA . The Sharky I bought say's made in China .
Answer: Made in China.
Q:
If I have a 7ft saltwater rod, why should I get 2000?
Answer: I use a similar Kastking 2000 on the 7ft saltwater, but I use it for bank fishing. I use a 20lb braid so I can set the drag and fight a bigger fish. I always have to keep a bell on to avoid getting spooled if I hook a cow.
Answer: You shouldn't unless you're doing flats finesse fishing. For salt the lowest I would recommend is the 3000
Q:
En este carrete 3000 de cuántas libras es el maximo que se le puede colocar en multifilamento.?
Answer: Podrías agregar multifilamento de las libras que quieras, pero por el tamaño del reel estimo que lo ideal seria máximo 30 libras
Q:
Is the handle on the kastking valiant eagle spinning reel convertible to either left or right hand retrieve?
Answer: Yes as most spinning reels are . It’s very simple to move the handle from the right to the left . Using the included handle screw simply position the handle through the reel for either right or left handed retrieves. This is a GREAT reel light weight smooth and filled with 8lb test casts for a country mile. I highly recommend it!
Answer: Yes it is. All spinning reels are. At least I haven't seen a Fixed spinning reel yet.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes it is
Q:
this reel or the sharky 3 for bass fishing?
Answer: The Valiant Eagle and the Sharky III are both Freshwater or Saltwater reels perfect for bass fishing.
Answer: I use it for bass fishing.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does the 1000 have the rubber seal on the drag knob? Heard it may only come on the larger 4000+ size
Answer: No I have the 1000 2000 and 3 and 4000 and they all have an O-ring seal.
Answer: I just checked mine and it does have a rubber seal
Answer: Yes they all do I have quite a few kastking reels real high quality reels
Q:
What pund test of mono matches best with the 3000 series
Q:
What is line test for 4000?
Answer: Hi Bradley,
Q:
what is the line capacity??
Answer: Don't be lazy, check online for the line capacity of all the reels... they are there.
Q:
My reel came with 3 small plastic washers in a small baggie. What are these for?
Answer: Hi there,
Answer: Its extra drag washers, also it's to properly adjust your line on the spool. Add a washer if your line is bulging on the top of the spool or remove one if your line is bulging on the bottom of the spool.
Answer: I'm not sure. Possibly drag washers? I bought a larger model but I don't remember any plastic washers in mine.
Q:
Will the 3000 handle 12lb line
Answer: Hi dave,
Answer: I suppose it would, I was using 50lb braid, but it should if that's your choice of line.
Q:
Getting a 7' Perigee rod, Im fishing in Florida docks and jetties is a 3000 a good match??
Answer: Yes it should be
Q:
What do i need to do to get a new reel handle? Only got to use my reel once and liked it just bumped it in the bed of my truck and the handle snapped
Answer: I had to buy it throught their store and there was quite a wait. But I used the handle off of another brand cheap reel and it fit perfectly which kept the reel in service but I did get the handle eventually.
Q:
How can I get warranty service for my reel? The handle is seized and will not come off after 3 months of use.
Answer: https://www.kastking.com/ContactUs
Q:
Is the bold eagle the same as the valiant eagle? no product description for the bold eagle.
Answer: I have a Bold Eagle and it is outstanding. I own over a dozen rods and reels from Kastking and I have not been disappointed in one thing. That includes Calamus and Brutus rods, 2 baitcasters and at least 7 spinning reels off the top of my head. Disregard blanket statements from dopes who obviously know nothing.
Answer: Do not buy this brand, it’s trash and cheap
Q:
I am restoring an 8 ft. Eagle claw rod for inshore saltwater. Would the Valiant eagle 3000 or 4000 be best?
Answer: I own both the 3000 and 4000 and done both fresh water and salt water fishing. Definitely go with the 4000 for saltwater. It’s just a little bit bigger then the 3000 but not by much.
Answer: 4000. I’m using a 3000 on a 6,6. These are Great reels
Q:
I'm looking for a reel to pair up with my 7' travel rod for inshore Florida targeting snook and reds which size would be better the 3000 or 4000?
Answer: I'm still an amateur angler but I caught a 34" Redfish with the 2000 (20lb braid, 25lb leader), so I personally would use the smaller of the two.
Q:
Saltwater or fresh?
Answer: Hi Alex,
Answer: Good cuality and price
Answer: Both
Answer: I use for both
Q:
why is there two colors for the spool green and gold is one better than the other
Answer: Well it's more about color choices. GOLD is outstanding and so is the Green. I have 2 of both... but it's a lot harder to get the greens idkw. But it's about affordable and fun Fishing.
Answer: I don't know where you see the green reel but the different gold models have the difference of more line capacity and line size.
Q:
Is the 2000 available? I don’t see it as an option.
Answer: Idk, the one I have IS a 2000
Q:
Will 150 yards of 20 pound test power pro spectra be enough to spool this reel correctly?
Answer: Yes
Q:
does this reel have instant anti reverse?
Answer: Hi Ann,
Q:
What’s the warranty on the reel?
Answer: The reel has a limited 1 year warranty. For complete warranty information www.pfluegerfishing.com.
Q:
Which reel would work best with the speed demon pro worm/jig
Answer: Hi John,
Q:
What is the major difference between this reel and the kastking sharky baitfeeder iii? looking to purchase my first saltwater reel for inshore fishin
Answer: The Sharky baitfeeder III has a duel drag system. You have a normal drag controls the drag on the spool and the lower drag controls the bite indicator. This allows you to have your bell closed on the reel and still let a fish bite and take line out at a controlled rate.
Answer: The emerald eagle has sealed bearing designed for saltwater use and the sharky iii is designed to be used with live bait. If you would “READ” the “Description” you’d figure all this out. Also included would be to choose the correct size reel. It’s ALL in the “DESCRIPTION!”
Answer: The emerald size is smaller, 6.2:1 gear ratio vs the baitfeeder 5.5:1, emerald drag is 22lb vs the 26lb of the baitfeeder. I use the baitfeeder with live baits and the emerald with lures.
Answer: I am sorry but I don’t know. Check the data sheet. The emerald seems very smooth and strong- I would consider the 4000 light saltwater...
Answer: Thiz reel is not a bait feeder, but u cant go wtong with either option, just depends o if u want the bait feeder option or not
Q:
Is the 1000 or 2000 worth buying for ultra light setup for bluegills? Does it cast well with light jig heads?
Answer: My husband only bought the 4000 for sea fishing he says with a 2 ounce weight 16 pound line he can cast approx 60 yards. Not sure if that helps.
Answer: It’s perfect for that. Throw some 8lb braid on and a short 10lb fluoro leader and you are good to go.
Q:
What corlor does it come in
Answer: Green Gold and Platinum
Q:
Just received this reel(1000) and saw it had a small bag with 3 nylon washers about 3/8" in diameter. I have no idea what these are for. Anyone?
Answer: Hi There,
Answer: As I can guess from data, the washers will adjust from underneath the height of the spool to accommodate the smooth retrieval of line...
Q:
Reel makes a clicking noise every time I start to reel. Is that normal?
Answer: No it needs to be checked.
Q:

Answer: The manufacturer is Kastking.
Q:
Would you reccomend the 3000 or 4000 for catching redfish?
Answer: I have the 3000 I purchased for bass and I believe it would be sufficient, however if I were buying again for Redfish, I would recommend the 4000 size.

Q:
is there a link to download a user manual and schematic?
Answer: No it comes with enough information in the box.
Q:

Q:
where can i purchase emerald eagle hard to find
Answer: Those are getting hard to find that's why I settled for the gold and I'm not disappointed
Q:
Does the 1000 series have the same sliding stabilizer rod and gear mechanisms as the larger reel?
Answer: When you look at the details of the product description on Amazon...if it doesn't say different for the 1000 that would mean it's the same, only smaller.
Q:
Do you fish with this reel, or make toast with it?
Answer: Hi Mark,
Q:
Is the 4000 the right reel for the 7’6” resolute rod or should I go smaller?
Answer: It depends on the line capacity you need. I got a 3000 on a 7'6" medium heavy and its a good match but I would totally put a 4000 if I needed the extra line.
Answer: It works well with my 7’6’
Q:

Answer: Yes, the reel has anti reverse.
Q:
What reel (2000/3000/4000) would you recommend for salt and freshwater?

Answer: Although either would work fine for bass I ordered the 3000 Series and it was just a touch too bulky I recommend the 2000
Answer: I use the 3000
Q:
Anyone get a scratching sound when reeling in the 3000 gold valiant eagle? made noise when putting line on and took it out once and it still does it.
Answer: It could possibly be that the drag is set to light. Mine hade a scratching sound. Found drag so loose that the skirt would wobble. Tightened it, problem solved.
Answer: I've never had that issue.
Q:
How much does each model weigh?
Answer: 1000 is 8.3oz
Q:
Trying to get this to left hand retrieve The input is different on the left side. Wont fit. Any suggestions
Q:
What does the 1000 and 2000 weigh?
Answer: The 1000 is 8.3 oz and the 2000 is 8.4.
Q:
Where are these being made?
Answer: Hello there,
Answer: I’m pretty sure they are China but not 100%
Answer: Made in China
Q:
give me a reason why it's better than sharky iii?

Product reviews of KastKing Valiant Eagle Gold Spinning Reel - 6.2:1 High-Speed Gear Ratio, Freshwater and Saltwater Fishing Reel, Faster Line Retrieve, Braid Ready Spool, 7+1 Shielded Stainless Steel Ball Bearings
Domo : Don't take it salt water fishing
I have only used these reels (bought 2) a few times for Sandbass then bank fishing in salt water jetty. Jammed up twice with minimal usage even after rinsing cleaning. Extensive cast/reel is not it's strength. Feels sturdy smooth on first impression but durability is not it's quality. I will be giving it away and getting a brand name one.
Amazon Customer : Line Eater - 6 month review
I agree that it is a well made reel and many steps up in quality from the WalMart beginer reels I've used. It's a great reel with a design flaw though. I do not know how but it frequently finds a way to suck the line underneath the spool around around the spindle necessitating a removal of the spool and cutting of the tangled line. It's not hard to do. However it happens at least once an outing. Braid or mono. It doesn't matter. From 10 to 25lbs mono and up to 35 braid...it doesn't matter. My supercheap reels from Academy Sports ($10) and Walmat ($25 in a combo) do not eat line like this. I don't think it is a technique issue. I can honestly say it is a great quality reel let down by a poor design choice. I wanted to buy another one. I could recommend if you only do drop line fishing. But if you cast, good luck!
B : Great reel!
Have the emerald eagle model and it has quickly become my favorite reel. It's been on several different rods with several different types of line, and it is just a great reel. It casts a mile and is silky smooth. It pairs well with Berkley XL and Kastking flourokote line.
Aran15 : Best bang for your buck
Got this reel and used it the same day. I don't have enough time to write how incredible it performed. This is by far one of the best reels I've used and can stack up against top tier brands. This is the best bargain I have found. I'll be ordering more in the future
BrianP : Awesome Reel!
Absolutely love this reel!! This is a new addition to my arsenal, I have the Sharky III and Megajaws baitcaster reels plus they are all loaded with Kastking Braid. You won’t be disappointed in any of their products as you get a lot more bang for your buck. This reel is awesome, light weight, carbon fiber drag, and lots of drag. I was a name brand purchaser before I tried these and all I have to say is you get so much more with KastKing than what you do with the name brands.
Mobijohn : Reel is sleek and powerful
I bought this reel to pair with my KastKing 6'6" M Power Resolute Rod and my oh my what a combo! The setup works great and can cast 3/4 ounce lures beautifully. Only thing I noticed was when I powered my 5/8 inch crocodile lures it exerted a lot of spin led to a tangle. All I had to do was add a Ball Bearing Swivel (not barrel) and the problem went away! Now I am casting full distance and it has had enough power to reel in blues, flounders and northern kingfish. I've only been to saltwater with this rod, but soon I am going to make it to freshwater.
I would definitely buy again!
Skull Crusher Adventures : Great looking Reel, wish it was smoother...
Great value, but this reel does not feel smooth. It feels like it draging when reeling it in, well see if it losens up after more use and upgraded reel oil. Im happy with the looks and hoping it holds up after a few more trips to the lake.
Nicky C : Completely worth the money
I purchased the 1000 to set up for Ned rigging. Paired it up on a Lews Speed Stick with 10 lb braid and couldn’t be happier with the setup, looks pretty awesome together also. I have only used it twice so far so I can’t speak for its durability but the reel is butter smooth and very light and the drag is very smooth. I like not having to back the reel to use braid, it seems to have locked down tight. Over all this reel is well with the money and I will try more KastKing products in the future.
Aran15 : Best bang for your buck

Lynda Palmer : More bang for your buck
This is third KastKing reel I have purchased. Like the others ones this one lives up to its reputation as a quality reel for a good price. Its a very light weight reel so it will be less fatiguing after a long day of fishing. Well built with a good amount of drag. In fact one of the things I like about KastKing reels is their drag. I have other brand reels that are more expensive with far less drag. Also the braided line grip built into the spool makes it much easier to wind the line onto the reel. Again a feature not on other more expensive brand reels I have purchased in the past. Overall you can't go wrong with purchasing this KastKing reel. Its a great reel for a great price!
Longrifle : Great reel. 3000 size good match with Blackhawk II 7' MH Spinning rod.
Love it. Super light weight. Smooth operation. Smooth drag. Fast retrieve.
I've paired it with a KastKing Blackhawk II 7' MH telescoping spinning rod: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076HMV287
This reel is a perfect match for this rod.
I put about 200 yards of 20# Piscifun black braid on it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076PBTT1D
I liked the black color to match the reel. It faded though. I might try the black KastKing braid instead.
I live in Korea and I use this reel/rod combo when I travel. I used it in Saipan and Hawaii this summer fishing for papio. The fast retrieve was awesome for whipping. I just rinsed it really well after use in the saltwater and it's been fine. No signs of corrosion.
Also, it came packaged very nicely. All KastKing stuff comes in nice heavy matte cardboard boxes with protective foam. I kept the box b/c who knows, maybe my grandkids will want a keepsake.

GT : Update
Originally I gave this reel a 5 star. For the first 3-4 months it worked like a champ. Smooth, light weight, good drag and strong but after much surf fishing it has unfortunately stopped reeling so smoothly. I would not recommend for surf fishing. Cannot handle salt water.
L C : I highly recommend this reel
Outstanding drag ,great speed and awesome price. Definitely smokes the other brands for the price. I get the same features with kastking for a fraction of the price. I will never buy a okuma, quantum or penn again!! Thank you for making awesome affordable gear . Fish on !
D. PALMER : Good action, light weight, good drag
This reel pairs nicely with my Kastking Resolute rod. The spool comes braid ready even though I still put a few revolutions of mono as a backer. Just my personal preference. The retrieve is smooth right out of the box but I still put some reel oil on it. Drag seems smooth, handled the back to back 3+ puonders.
Jesse Castellano : Very Good For The Money
I purchased the KastKing Emerald Eagle 3000 Spinning reel and matched it with a 2pc. KastKing spinning rod for a summer trip. The KastKing reel is a smooth and soundly built spinning reel that has held up very well so far. I have been using the KastKing with 15lb. KastKing braided line and the combo has done as well as with any other combo I have used in the past. The KastKing Eagle 3000 is just one reel of several other KastKing spinning reels that I currently own and so far it is my favorite spinning reel. And for it's price point and performance it's an excellent value!
brian bishop : Excellent product.
This thing is solid. Not only does it look awesome with it's two tone colors, it has little features that most companies wouldn't even bother with. The eagle cut outs on the housing reveal undertones of green inside the inner workings. It is so smooth. Definitely well worth the money. Now that I have it in hand, I would have been happy even if it was a little bit more expensive. I'm definitely going to buy more reels from this company. maybe the baitrunner.
Amazon Customer : Super smooth. Great price.
I've been primarily a bait cast user the past several years and the only spinning reel I had was an old Daiwa ultra light that rarely saw the light of day. Knowing I wanted to add a decent spinning reel setup to my repertoire, I chose the KK Valiant Eagle. Initially, I was super impressed by the packaging and the unboxing experience. That excitement continued when I was first able to use the reel. The casting was superb and the reel-in was velvety smooth. I am super impressed with this reel and have placed KastKing on my list of top brands to consider for future purchases.

Also, it came packaged very nicely. All KastKing stuff comes in nice heavy matte cardboard boxes with protective foam. I kept the box b/c who knows, maybe my grandkids will want a keepsake.
Waleton : Is this reel worth it? You decide if it aligns with what you want!
Overall the reel seems of great quality for its price point! It is definitely a beautiful piece of work and this is probably the first thing you noticed (it looks even better in person). What you want to know though is what is it actually like in your hands? The reel is buttery smooth. The line spools almost evenly on the spool, no hour glass spooling. Durability appears to be pretty solid, but I can’t say with confidence how it will hold up over time because I haven’t had it long enough. How I see it is this. You are about to buy/have just bought a reel at a mediocre price point (under $100). With this in mind, do not come in with the expectation that this will be an endgame setup. Ultimately you will probably upgrade to a better reel as you become a better angler, but for now this will be a great stepping stool to understand what is available and determine what key attributes you may desire in later reels. Overall I’m happy with the product and would recommend it to those who are seeking to buy a reel that will better handle their needs at an affordable price point.
Ramzy221313 : Good enough for me, the average
Not a pro by any means, but spent a lot of my life fishing all different kinds of different waters and Kast King is legit. Writing this with honesty. Emerald Eagle 3000 reel is smooth and spooled with their 20lb braid is a real good combo. Like others said, it’s over worth every penny spent.
BWD : Can't say I'm satisfied...
Would give it a higher rating, if the cap that screws into the handle shaft would stay tight. Noticed it kept loosing up the first time I used it. Put blue lock tite on the threads the last four times, but it will not stay tight.
I could like it, if not for that problem.
Aleksandar Dragosavljevic : High quality piece for the right price
I will update this review when i use it. I paired it with a KastKing's black hawk 2 which will be put to use this upcoming trip. I think they are both high quality devices, and are really great value for the money. Time will tell if they are great for the outdoors. Coming soon...

CTH : Best value in fishing
I got the 3000 series. Included a picture with my hand to give a better idea of the size. It’s a bit smaller than I expected but that’s just me as it’s hard to tell until you see it in person. Perfect instant anti reverse. Bail opens and closes easily. Smooth operation. Haven’t used this one yet but I bought KastKing’s bait feeder reel several years ago and it’s still going strong. Great price for the quality.
bayawak : Great for the price
This is a review for both 2000 and 1000 model. The 2000 reel feels good but it's not as smooth as the 1000 reel of the same model that I also have (still a pretty good reel). Also, when reeling in a fish, there's some noticeable "clicks" (not the bait clicker) that sounds like something inside is hitting something it's not supposed to hit every few turns or so of the spool. I did not have this issue with the 1000 version of the valiant eagle. The 2000 reel is, however, still a very good reel and handles fish well. I mostly fish inshore in Florida and the clicking is a minor annoyance I can live with (as long as it doesn't break because it's already spooled I don't think returning it or exchanging it is worth the hassle). The 1000 reel is very smooth and has garnered no complaints. It is one of my new favorites, second only to my Sharky 3.
Bird man : Out of the Box
Right out of the box. I liked what I saw. Came in a nice product bag and more directions and manuals than most higher end reels that I've purchased over the years. Value wise, seems to be a good value. Smooth feel without a huge weight to it. Without having the attached to a pole. You can crank the handle and it doesn't wobble around. So feels to be balanced very well. The only draw back noticed was it doesn't have a folding handle. For space saving in the rod locker. Not a deal breaker. Drag does seem to be smooth. Although I haven't fished with it as of yet. It appears as though I won't have any issues on performance. The biggest part I'm curious on is it's life span. I won't be able to give an answer to that for a year or so. Hopefully the answer is on the so side of that. We'll see for that one. Good real right out of the box.
MyPublicName : Wow, impressed.
Really impressed with this reel. Super super smooth and feels really durable! The color looks great paired up with my perigee II rod. For anyone debating about getting this reel, don't debate, just get it! You won't regret it! Kastking, you've done it again! Well done!
(Update) Bought a second one. The 1000 series. Love this reel so much had to get the 1000 version for my smaller 5'6" finesse rod.
P.S. For the reviewer that said this reel feels like the reel that comes with the ugly stik combo is out of their mind! No way does an ugly stik reel ever compare to this Kastking reel. This Kastking reel is on a whole nother level! Ugly stik reels feel cheap and plastic like. Valient eagle series don't!
Sturgeon : Love the Reel
I was a little skeptical getting a Kastking reel in comparison to a well-known brand but I was happily surprised. The reel is super smooth and the cast distance is better than any of my other spinning reels. I actually paired this with an Abu Garcia Medium light vengeance rod for trout fishing. The first two times I used this set up I caught multiple fish with a small cast master. It is super lightweight and compact (the 200) series. The only thing I would say is to be very careful to not overspool the reel (my fault) because it can cause some issues with both line twist and get the line wrapped up underneath the reel. I was using 4 lb test mono so that also is a factor is some of the few issues I had. Overall I am very happy with the reel and will probably buy more Kastking products.

I like turtles : broken out of the box
The overall feel of the reel was great, i have 2 other kastking reels and 1 rod (have not used the rod yet) but I did not get a chance to use this one as the anti reverse switch did not work right out of the box, which basically makes it unusable. Assuming I just got a bad one though I'm sure my replacement i put in for will be fine, will update my review afterwards.
FISHINCHICK216 : EXCELLENT QUALITY & PERFORMANCE FOR LESS MONEY
This KastKing Valiant Eagle 3000 spinning reel is smooth as butter!!! The bearings, the bail, the drag are all super smooth and feel very high-quality. It has water resistant construction that keeps out moisture and debris. I had previously bought my son a KastKing Sharky III spinning combo for much less than I paid for my St. Croix rod alone. I was so impressed with the function and feel of that set up that I found myself picking it up before my St. Croix/Shimano spinning set up, which cost 3 times as much as I have in that KastKing combo. As soon as I picked it up, I knew I was going to have a KastKing for myself. After using KastKing's very informative website to research what would best suit my needs, I purchased this KastKing Valiant Eagle 3000. I love that the spool is braid ready, and the reel is very lightweight. The carbon fibers add strength, so this reel should be very structurally sound. The only thing I wish they would change is that the handle can't be loosened to fold down. It has to be unscrewed and removed with its shaft. I'd rather be able to loosen and collapse it instead of removing it when I put it in a case for traveling. I still love it, and I feel I've got a far better product for about 1/3 of the price of my best reels of the same size and power. I'll look at KastKing before I buy anything else now. I'm going to check out their saltwater products next.
SRC670 : Amazing
1st ever KastKing product. My ultralight spinning reel acidentally hooked into a carp....died. Bought this and was amazed at the quality for the price. As good as I have ever used, including "proper boutique" reels of the day. Highly reccomend.
Dug : Made in China
I didn't do my home work and found out Kastking is made in China. Had I known I would not have purchased as we are trying to avoid chinese products..
So far reel is smooth so I give it a high rating but since made in china I am now concerned how long it may last.
Robert M. : Making sounds and sticky retrieve. Cheap chinese OEM manufacturer.
Have had for a couple months after returning one that looked used out of the box. Already making sounds and the retrieve sticks. Will skip KastKing on my next setup. Seems to not have good durability or I'm unlucky with quality control. But hey if your a kid on a budget, these may work for you.
guanoeye : great reel
have to admit I was looking forward to a premium for ordering from KastKing. however this is still a great reel. I got the 2000 series for crappie and bass fishing matched to a 7'2'' rod with 6# braid. cast great smooth retrieve I have not caught anything over 2# yet so i cant really comment on the drag quality. I have many kastking products from reels ,rods gloves line and pliers. I have found them to be affordable quality products and will continue to buy as needed.
kirrentas : Quality is most important
This is my first KastKing reel purchase. I bought the KastKing Emerald Eagle Spinning Reel, 6.2:1 Ratio, Freshwater and Saltwater Fishing Reel, Carbon Fiber Frame & Rotor, Braid Ready Spool, 10+1 BB (4000). The quality and price are outstanding. It is of fine craftsmanship and you can tell KastKing cares about the angler. Why pay for advertising, when you can get such quality gear from a company that thinks of the angler first. Great price, great quality, what more would you want.

Jason W : Sharp little machine
Delivered as promised in excellent condition. It is a beautiful little machine. I hope it holds up to saltwater conditions as I do a week's worth of surf fishing every year on vacation. The salt has been murder on my freshwater reels in years past. Looking forward to trying it out! Update. Unfortunately, Had to return this reel because of severely uneven line lay on the spool. Thankfully Kastking customer service was excellent. Received my replacement alot faster than expected. The line lays evenly on the new reel and it casts awesome. Only issue that remains is that this one is not nearly as smooth as the first and is noisy on the retrieve. Kastking makes some good budget reels( I have a few Summers and Centrons at half the price) just think the quality control may be lacking. Guess I'll keep it and see how it holds up. Update: The reel performed excellent on my week Long surf fishing expedition. It was subjected to quick dunks and multiple splashes in the surf, and continued to function where other reels in the past would have certainly failed. Got to give it another star for durability in the salt.
Kevin : I wanted to like, but in the end I just can't.
People say these are as good as name brand without the cost? I could've bought a pfluger trion that feels so much more stable than this and paid 15 dollars less for the trion. It's so noisy with 10 lb braided line, the spool feels like it's going to break off at any second because it moves so much. I have other KastKing products and this is far the worst one I have gotten. I was going to buy other KastKing products but this tells me these aren't made to the standards they give.
Redlyr : Decent reel for the money
I have used this reel several times now. At first I was impressed with the line lay and smoothness but, that has been become some less impressive as of late. I have had to reshim the spool twice to keep the line even on the spool. Not sure what keeps going out of adjustment. The reel has a little bit of grit to it now after some hours of use. I image if I cracked the gearbox open, removed the factory grease and added some high quality lube it would smooth out again.
It will get the job done but, it has some stuff competition in the price point from the likes of Daiwa and Pflueger.

Strike-n-Set Fishing : KastKing is the "reel" deal!
Great feel, smooth right out of the box. I did take it apart and oil and grease some parts making even more smooth (not a huge difference though. I am an avid tournament fisherman and have quickly been changing all my gear out to all KastKing products. Have yet to be disappointed by anything I have purchased. From the pro rods to this reel and everything in between, I highly recommend their gear. You want be disappointed!
Bald Cook : A solid 6.2:1 reel at a reasonable price
I've been looking for a higher retrieve speed reel for a while when my long-time fishing buddy (who had just bought the KastKing ultralight 500 reel) said I might like this one. We've both been fishing for many decades and know quality when we "feel" it. This is one solid reel. The bail operation is one of the smoothest, easiest, positive release I've ever seen on reels costing 2-3X as much!
Unfortunately, my fishing season is over as winter is now here so I won't be able to give it a field test until spring. I can't wait to add to this review with a real live try in a few months! Stay tuned!
blind guy : Awesome reels
I bought 3 of these for my boys and paired with castaway 7’ taranis rods. We went pier fishing and hooked some 3 and 4 footsharks. These reels were awesome. Super smooth, drag is as advertised, we stressed these things to the max and no issues. I put 50 lb braid on them. We landed 3 sharks that were 3 feet. We could not get the bigger ones up the pier. We also caught several sail catgs and white trout. I would highly recommend these.
Easton : Great Value for the money
Well, I had a Shimano Sedona1000FE and I had to trash it because it was a lemon and bought this to replace it. From what I've experienced so far I think these reels are certainly innovative for the money, but will it hold up. I don't really know yet, time will tell. I'll try and come back in a few months and let you know if I recommend it.
Edit: Update about two months later. I definitely recommend it! What I like best about this reel is the drag, it's very predictable and smooth when a decent-sized fish gets on, I don't have to worry about the fish popping off because it gives up line easily, but is also firm. The other light reels I've had issues with the drag where you would think it would keep a fish on but the drag is just more unpredictable and erratic but they don't have a carbon fiber drag disk either.
FishForever89 : Super Smooth and Great Value at $50
Overall solid $50 reel with truly smooth drag comparable to $100+ reels. Took off the reel handle and did some oiling as I do with all reels fresh out of box. Very impressed with the weight and durable rotor along with it's rotating speed 6.2 to 1. Will update on casting distances and drag performance by the spring 2019 season. Tight Lines! - David
