Only issue with Sougayilang is the handle likes to comes loose, locktite fixed that issue. Solid reel and above average drag. The weight is not an issue, BUY IT.

Answer: I have not had any problems with my reel, Maybe you filled it to much and it doesn't stay within the groove for your fishing line. My reel works very smooth and doesn't stick while retrieving my fishing line. I wonder if when they put the spool on and they didn't put any grease on the gears?
Answer: Mine does not do either .... out of the box I always oil my reels and rinse them even after fishing as I fish a lot of saltwater. Also there is a specific way to load line on the spool of a spinning reel .... they have videos on YouTube that can help you with the bottom stick and lip roll.

All reels may not be adjustable though, and your reel may be set and not adjustable, but this information may be useful. I rarely write reviews for things like this. I buy a lot of fishing gear. i had a credit so I figured why not. the reel is nicer than some of my high-end reels. the handle is comfortable. its made out of metal and not plastic for the most part. I used it this morning. Had to lift a few 4lb bass up out of a quarry to unhook them. everything was fine.

So, for the cost - probably 5 stars. But, against the field, not so much - so I meet in the middle with 4. Does run fairly smooth, drag included. However, there is some slop and it just does not "feel" like a top end reel. I am also not a fan of the big round grip on the handle. It works fine, just does not feel normal, or good. Having said all that, look at the price! For the price, she is a winner! Compared to high end gear, she comes up short. But, you know what you are getting when you buy it. 100% worth the money, and no issues using it on any fish.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this reel, specifically the 1000 model on a 5' ultra light. My previous reel broke so I replaced it with this and it is light years better. The action is super smooth, the drag is great, and it handled some 15" trout with the greatest of ease. With this setup I can throw a 1/32oz power bait about 20ft out with the flick of a wrist. Two days after I put the reel on a friend and I hit the motherload. A local pond had just been stocked with rainbow trout that morning and we had the entire dock to ourselves the whole day! They were literally swimming around in schools! In the following 3 days I caught at least 125 of them putting in 8 hour days and this reel made it feel easy even on such a small setup. By about day 5 the trout learned and were real tough to catch but fortunately I was tipped off on a perch haven and spent the next two days pulling them in as fast as I could put a line out for two days straight. Well over 100 fish again, my thumb and pointed finger are literally bruised from pulling the same jig head out of so many mouths. Until recently fishing has been real slow and ironically since I've had this reel I've had incredible luck and somehow pulled in hundreds of great fish in a very short amount of time wildly beyond any expectation. My second reel will be here tomorrow for a second 5' setup so I can have one tied on and another with a snap swivel. I'll also likely buy the 4000 or 5000 to replace my current heavier braided setup too.

I love the way this reel looks and feels. There is nothing cheap looking about it. In my opinion if it was bought in a big box store with a big company name it feels and looks like it would be at least a $149.99 reel.. i haven't had mine long enough and only used it one time so i cant give it a durability rating yet but will rate it again later.. so far i would definitely buy more though.

Bought these in the 5k size for my wife because she’s not comfortable or proficient with bait casters. Put them on 8’ Ugly Stik Catfish rods and spooled them with 40-lb braid. They sling 3-ounces of lead and cut bait on a Santee Cooper rig about halfway across the lake and retrieve smoothly, without a hitch. So far, 15-17lb blue cats have been the biggest victims and they’ve handled the lethargic, cold water fish with ease. As the water warms up and the fish become more aggressive, these reels will a real test on more likely fish. These are also going to be her primary reels for Texoma stripers, so we’ll see. So far, I’m pleased and very happy to have gotten reels of this quality, which included extra spools, for what I paid. Also a big fan of the oversized retrieve handles.

I bought 3 of the 1000 size for crappie fishing. Reels are great in my opinion. I own abu, lews, and shimano upper end ones as well and for $20 you can’t beat these! They cast great, handle is sweet, and with 15lb braid to get them out of the brush it winds it smooth and tight. No twisting and tangles. Only con is drag is on the weaker side unless you crank it all the way down but for crappie as pan fish it’s perfect.

Really like this reel. When i received it i was very impressed with the looks. Only negative thing i have to say is the chrome part on the heel of the reel had a stripped out screw hole and the cover fell off. It didnt effect the functionality of this reel though. The drag is butter smooth amd cast great. I put the reel on a 5ft ultra light i use for crappie fishing under bridges. I have caught a few 5lb bass with it and the drag worked better then some of my $ 75 on up reels. I will be buying more to replace my worn out reels. Over all great product .

This reel is so smooth. I have had way more expensive reels and this stacks up against them. I really like the extra ball bearing so there is no back play in the reel. It feels very well built and is great value for the price. Idk how they’re selling it for this price

The reel is so small and light, and it looks amazing. I put it on a SixGill Akylos ML spinning rod and spooled it with 15 lb Runcl braided line. I have used this for catching 10lb monster carp, and for dropshotting for largemouth bass. I was really impressed with how nicely I can reel in a 5lb largemouth. The drag is surprisingly smooth. I don't think I'll buy expensive reels after using this one.

I purchased this reel in February preparing for fluke season beginning in May. I have only used reel three times and the bail no longer locks. I love the casting ability, but disappointed the bail doesn’t work.

Okay reel, but this reel is corrodes easily if it gets wet. I had all of the screws rust on me after about three uses. Also, the spool knob has begun to rust on the inside as well.

THE REEL IS VERY SMOOTH , GOOD DRAG , SEEMS WELL BUILT BUT ALL THE SCREWS RUSTED AFTER FIRST TIME OUT. THIS WOULD MAKE ME BELIEVE THAT IF THIS COMPANY WAS SO CARLESS OR COST CONSCIOUS ABOUT A LITTLE THING LIKE $2.00 WORTH OF STAINLESS SCREWS THAT THE REST OF THIS REEL HAS THE SAME LACK OF QUALITY. TOO BAD BECAUSE WITH A LITTLE MORE CARE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A REEL I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT AGAIN.

I have been fishing for 60 years. I have never had this smooth of a reel. it feels great in your hand and the drag is awesome. I ordered two more today, one for my son and a 2000 series for me. the price is unbelievable for such a great product. the anti reverse is immediate. I can't say enough about it. just give them a try.

For the way it looki give it a 5 but quality and performance wise ill give it a 1star.. line dont even out on the reel theres a space top part of the reel.. after 1 day of using on a freshwater the smoothness was gone and when i opened it, it was rusty.. cant return it anymore coz tried it too late after i got it..

I like it already. I filled both spools with line and everything went on smooth and evenly. The reel feels solid and I believe it will be as good as any American made reel. I gave it 5 stars but if anything breaks too soon, I will post an update. I doubt I will need it.

I have ordered this brand before and liked the product. This particular reel does not function properly. the line does not spool correctly, stacks up unevenly. I missed the return by date, so I still have it.

What can I say, this is my second reel. Have always used Penn reels and been happy, tried this one just out of curiosity and it keeps up with my equal sized Penn. Don't know about longevity but at 1/3 to 1/4 cost of big name reels who cares. Have many friends look and hold and are impressed, even one who is a walleye guide loved this reel. Have had for over a year with no freshwater issues, haven't used in saltwater. Good, smooth functioning reel and drag. When Penn parts cost as much or more than this reel why not spend my hard earned money on this for less headache.

Nice for perch fishing with 5’6” Zebco rod for a very reasonable price. Smooth cast with 6# mono and smooth returns. Have lost a couple of rods overboard to the fish and will try to be careful with this one.

Worked real well on my 8 ft. Spinning rod. The nob on the crank is bigger than other reels I own, but that is OK. The reel appears well fit together and finished. The extra graphite spool a plus. No fish to test the drag yet.

Update the rod is binding up and getting hard to reel. I am getting tons of knots. Honestly I would like to have my money back or a replacement . UPDATE!! I have been contacted by the seller and they are sending me a replacement. So I’ve moved to 3 stars for the seller contacting me on their own. Will update once again once I test the new reel.

Sporing : Super value
I've been using ultralights sense 1970 and have had dozens of reels thru the years. After checking this reel out and filling it with 10 lb power pro braided line, this reel is as smooth as any reel costing 3x as much. At first the handle seemed a little big, but after a few casts it was no problem, if fact I might like it more than the smaller handles, time will tell.

This is probably my fifth reel from this company. I figure the Big Name Brands don't support my fishing addiction, so why get hung up on spending money on a name. I use these reels to build travel poles. Telescopic rods with lightweight reels. So far I am Very Impressed, and the action is Very comparable to my Penns, Abu Garcia, and Okuma rigs.

First of all, I really like the way this reel looks and feels. Pulled in a stripped base with no problem and the drag works nicely. Throws really well with light jigs. The extra large handle feels really nice when fishing for long period of time. I also love the zero reverse one way clutch bearing which gives me solid hooksets. I got the XY1000 with gear ratio of 5.1.1 which is plenty for me since I'm not looking to reel the fish in fast but to enjoy the moment of reeling them in. The 13+1BB makes the reeling very smooth and I can really enjoy the "fishing".

I've had this reel for a little over a year now. I was impressed out of the box with the appearance and smooth action. Fast forward a year and I'm still incredibly impressed with it. I just got back from Colorado where I used this to fish rainbows for the weekend. I hauled in a dozen or more and it didn't skip a beat. If I had a knock at all it would be that the drag adjustment is a little finicky. Overall I'm very happy.

I loaded the real with braided 15 pound line and took it fishing. I've been out with it several times and it is one smooth spinning reel. The handle is larger than my other spinners, but I like it. It cast well, spins smoothly, the drag is smooth, and I love the instant stop one-way anti-reverse. I haven't weighed it, but it's light - I'm sure under 10 oz. I plan on purchasing another one.

This reel is awesome! It’s super smooth, fits perfectly, easy casting and the drag settings are very sensitive. It has the feel of a much more expensive reel. I’ve been a devout Shimano fan for over 25 years and this reel competes easily with them!

Very light and smooth. I was really pleased with how this reel performs. Not sure how it will compare to my Shimano and Daiwa reels that have caught thousands of fish but so for I like how light the body is and how smooth the drag is.

After receiving my Sougayilang bait casting reel and observing the high level of quality, I immediately ordered the XY2000 Spinning reel. I have been fishing for more than 40 years. Of all the spinning reels I have owned, the Sougayilang is easily the smoothest reel I have experienced. The fit and finish on this reel is beautiful. The handle grip is very comfortable and easy to maintain good purchase of even in wet conditions. I have caught a smallmouth and a few walleye on this reel and it handled them without a hiccup. For the price, this reel easily outclasses the name-brand competitors costing 3 to 4 times that of the Sougayilang. I will absolutely buy other sizes of this model for lighter fishing such as trout and panfish, and larger fish such as wiper and pike. Great reel at a fantastic bargain!!!

This is a light smoove casting easy to retrieve reel. I caught two nice bass the first day with it. I already own two Sougayilang reels and they are also great. I highly recommend Sougayilang products, great quality, great prices.
