Answer: I have not had any problems with my reel, Maybe you filled it to much and it doesn't stay within the groove for your fishing line. My reel works very smooth and doesn't stick while retrieving my fishing line. I wonder if when they put the spool on and they didn't put any grease on the gears?
Answer: Mine does not do either .... out of the box I always oil my reels and rinse them even after fishing as I fish a lot of saltwater. Also there is a specific way to load line on the spool of a spinning reel .... they have videos on YouTube that can help you with the bottom stick and lip roll.
Answer: I have the 2000 and my line loads towards the bottom as well, but only on the plastic spool (BTW that's not graphite). No problems with the retrieve.
Answer: This may be extreme info, but youtube has adjustment videos for this problem. All reels may not be adjustable though, and your reel may be set and not adjustable, but this information may be useful. Really like this reel. When i received it i was very impressed with the looks. Only negative thing i have to say is the chrome part on the heel of the reel had a stripped out screw hole and the cover fell off. It didnt effect the functionality of this reel though. The drag is butter smooth amd cast great. I put the reel on a 5ft ultra light i use for crappie fishing under bridges. I have caught a few 5lb bass with it and the drag worked better then some of my $ 75 on up reels. I will be buying more to replace my worn out reels. Over all great product .

I've had this reel for a little over a year now. I was impressed out of the box with the appearance and smooth action. Fast forward a year and I'm still incredibly impressed with it. I just got back from Colorado where I used this to fish rainbows for the weekend. I hauled in a dozen or more and it didn't skip a beat. If I had a knock at all it would be that the drag adjustment is a little finicky. Overall I'm very happy.

I am impressed with this reel for it being under $30. It shipped quick. The reel is incrediably smooth. It is heavier then I anticipated which is nice. My only complaint, and this is a personal preference deal, the handle knob is a little bit larger then Id prefer. However, it doesnt hinder its use. The company is amazing. They reached out to me to provide customer service and to check up on my shipment. I replied them with feedback and recieved an almost immediate response.

Initial impression is favorable, fit and finish is as good as reels costing 4 times as much. Line comes off the spool and winds up even and smooth. Weighs more than some of the competitors but not objectionable. Visually upon initial inspection the bearings and main shaft should be a bit heavier but performance with a large fish will tell the quality.

I wish I could give it zero stars. I excitededly opened my package and proceeded to crank it (as anybody would do with a new reel). It was buttery smooth.......for about 4 cranks. At that point it stiffened up considerably and the spool wouldn't even go up/down anymore. Do not waste your money!! It's already on it's way back same day as delivered, and I just ordered a Lew's like I should have done in the first place.

I never write reviews, even when disappointed. But, honestly, I am beyond disappointed. This reel would not spool up properly, no matter how I tried to lay out the various spacers it came with. Drag would tighten itself and the plastic spool snapped my braided line on nearly every cast. I have no idea if I just don’t get it or this reel just has some nuances to it. But, the reel I was replacing, the shakespeare uglystik GX2 reel that came on the pole, blows this crap away.

I am using the reel on a light setup with four-pound test line, so the drag got a good workout with some of the larger smallmouth that I've caught. So far, it's performed admirably.

After fishing for about two weeks with the second reel, it started having an issue where the reel would become very tight every few turns of the handle. It made it impossible to use. What can I say, this is my second reel. Have always used Penn reels and been happy, tried this one just out of curiosity and it keeps up with my equal sized Penn. Don't know about longevity but at 1/3 to 1/4 cost of big name reels who cares. Have many friends look and hold and are impressed, even one who is a walleye guide loved this reel. Have had for over a year with no freshwater issues, haven't used in saltwater. Good, smooth functioning reel and drag. When Penn parts cost as much or more than this reel why not spend my hard earned money on this for less headache.

I buy a lot of fishing gear. i had a credit so I figured why not. the reel is nicer than some of my high-end reels. the handle is comfortable. its made out of metal and not plastic for the most part. I used it this morning. Had to lift a few 4lb bass up out of a quarry to unhook them. everything was fine.

Got it yesterday, went fishing from shore of Tampa Bay. Caught a 19 inch Permit on a goofy jig. Drag worked flawlessly. Landed fish and released it. Forgot to take a photo. Beautiful fish. Also caught a 14 inch Jack Cravelle and a snook. I took a chance buying this reel, but it is high quality. It casts a country mile. I use 12 lb. stren monofilament with 20 lb. leader. Take care of this reel and it will last years. The included extra spool is nice too.

I Got this Amazon prime day 2019. I have used this item as my primary trout reel for 6 months as of this review. I have used in the rain a few times and have not noticed any rusted screws or parts as some other reviewers have noted. It was very smooth out off the box and even smoother after taking apart and oiling it myself, as I do with all of my reels. I have no issue with the drag. It does it's job nicely.
After using the nicer looking metal spool for most of the time I have fished with it, I have switched to the "spare" black spool as I feel it is significantly lighter and does not have any holes, thus preventing water from getting to the bearing under the spool. With the black spool, I notice my line seems to be winding uneven and more toward the top of the spool. This has not made a difference in the way the real performs while casting it when reeling in line, it is just something I can't help but notice was not happening with the metal spool. I really like the feel of the crank handle as it is rounded and gives more to grip.
I fish with it about once a week in a river for trout and will update my review if for some reason things change with my experience.

I like it already. I filled both spools with line and everything went on smooth and evenly. The reel feels solid and I believe it will be as good as any American made reel. I gave it 5 stars but if anything breaks too soon, I will post an update. I doubt I will need it.

This is one of the smoothest reels I have ever used. The drag works well, it casts far and I actually like the big handle.
My only concern is longevity - and I only question this because of the price. I did not rate the durability because I have only fished with it 6 times. I'll update if I have any issues.

I am impressed with this reel for it being under $30. It shipped quick. The reel is incrediably smooth. It is heavier then I anticipated which is nice. My only complaint, and this is a personal preference deal, the handle knob is a little bit larger then Id prefer. However, it doesnt hinder its use. The company is amazing. They reached out to me to provide customer service and to check up on my shipment. I replied them with feedback and recieved an almost immediate response.

This is my go to reel. Everytime I buy another more expensive reel, I end up taking it off and putting this one back on. I have lost it down the river twice now, on top of having it roll around in the back of my truck. A little white lithium spray grease, and this thing stays smooth as butter. I like the gear ratio on this one and it holds quite a bit of line. I will buy another one if I ever manage to break this one.

The reel is so small and light, and it looks amazing. I put it on a SixGill Akylos ML spinning rod and spooled it with 15 lb Runcl braided line. I have used this for catching 10lb monster carp, and for dropshotting for largemouth bass. I was really impressed with how nicely I can reel in a 5lb largemouth. The drag is surprisingly smooth. I don't think I'll buy expensive reels after using this one.

I received my reel yesterday, added a 10 pound test and took it out back to see how it performed within less than 15 minutes I caught to large bass. The reel performed exceptional. The cast and retrieval is smooth and the brake holds very well and for the price, it's well worth the purchase. I'm taking it salt water fishing over the weekend. Bought these in the 5k size for my wife because she’s not comfortable or proficient with bait casters. Put them on 8’ Ugly Stik Catfish rods and spooled them with 40-lb braid. They sling 3-ounces of lead and cut bait on a Santee Cooper rig about halfway across the lake and retrieve smoothly, without a hitch. So far, 15-17lb blue cats have been the biggest victims and they’ve handled the lethargic, cold water fish with ease. As the water warms up and the fish become more aggressive, these reels will a real test on more likely fish. These are also going to be her primary reels for Texoma stripers, so we’ll see. So far, I’m pleased and very happy to have gotten reels of this quality, which included extra spools, for what I paid. Also a big fan of the oversized retrieve handles.

Very smooth well balance no vibration when cranking fast . The plus is the extra spool able to switch between 15 lb braid and 6 lb copolymer , good drag system easy to adjust on the fly has handled everything from 2 lb trout to a 3.5 bass and hopefully even bigger ! I don't know what you would get in a $150 reel that you don't have in this reel . I highly recommend this reel .

For the way it looki give it a 5 but quality and performance wise ill give it a 1star.. line dont even out on the reel theres a space top part of the reel.. after 1 day of using on a freshwater the smoothness was gone and when i opened it, it was rusty.. cant return it anymore coz tried it too late after i got it..

I first gave this 4 stars because it worked great and was smooth. But now that fishing season has started up and I have started catching big fish, the reel has broken at the line roller and is no longer usable or repairable. Guess there's not return or warranty after 3 months after purchase and use.
Sporing : Super value
I've been using ultralights sense 1970 and have had dozens of reels thru the years. After checking this reel out and filling it with 10 lb power pro braided line, this reel is as smooth as any reel costing 3x as much. At first the handle seemed a little big, but after a few casts it was no problem, if fact I might like it more than the smaller handles, time will tell.

Really like this reel. When i received it i was very impressed with the looks. Only negative thing i have to say is the chrome part on the heel of the reel had a stripped out screw hole and the cover fell off. It didnt effect the functionality of this reel though. The drag is butter smooth amd cast great. I put the reel on a 5ft ultra light i use for crappie fishing under bridges. I have caught a few 5lb bass with it and the drag worked better then some of my $ 75 on up reels. I will be buying more to replace my worn out reels. Over all great product .

This is my first review after purchasing three different Sougayilang reels over the last several years. I was so happy with the first two reels, that I went the same route when needing to replace a Diawa that kept giving me problems. These reels are much higher quality than you would expect for the price, so don’t be swayed. They are smooth casting, durable, and good looking. If I were to do it over again, I likely would have gotten the 1000 size over the 2000 size because it may be more reel than I need for my lake. I will feel confident this reel will bring in any walleye or large mouth from my particular lake. I also like the extra spool so I can have the choice of two different line weights or types. The spool that comes on the reel feels metallic and the second spool feels composite in construction.
Don’t be shy, even if you are on the fence about a foreign reel from Amazon, the investment is low and it is worth taking a chance. This may be your “go to” company and reel for the next several years. I highly recommend it.

I caught 3 carp with this reel. I put 20lb braided line on it. All 3 were in the 7lb range. Worked very well in fighting them. Nice and smooth retrieve. Drag worked well. So far so good. Will definitely buy a few more.

I loaded the real with braided 15 pound line and took it fishing. I've been out with it several times and it is one smooth spinning reel. The handle is larger than my other spinners, but I like it. It cast well, spins smoothly, the drag is smooth, and I love the instant stop one-way anti-reverse. I haven't weighed it, but it's light - I'm sure under 10 oz. I plan on purchasing another one.
