Questions about PLUSINNO Fishing Reel, 9 +1BB Spinning Reel, Ultra Smooth Powerful, Lightweight Graphite Frame, CNC Aluminum Spool for Freshwater
Q:
IF i buy this it does not give me the option for reel size to select. So what what size reel will i get in the mail?
Answer: Something is not right , it should let you select a reel size ... it comes in 3 or 4 sizes
Q:
What happened to the 3000 model? It's not listed anymore and yesterday it was
Answer: Not Sure. I have a 4000
Q:
What is the warranty? If it can stand up to what I would put it through, it is a serious reel!
Answer: The reel is to small for big fish
Answer: 1 Year parts and warranty
Q:
What is the best line weight for the 3000 and 4000?
Answer: I use 6 to 12 pounds on the 3000 model.
Answer: Probably anything from 10-30 pound line
Answer: I ran 12 pound p line on mine but I wouldn’t recommend going too much higher than that
Q:
Is this a good fishing reel?
Answer: This is a nice reel, fine for lakes and rivers.
Q:
Can it be used braided and monofilament lines?
Answer: I used braided line with a mono leader and had no problems
Answer: I have used it with braid and mono and it works pretty well. No issues with any line that I have tried.
Answer: Yes can be used with braid or mono.
Answer: Yes
Q:
I snag for spoonbill using a12 foot rod 65 pound braid will the 4000 handle this
Answer: I bought the 2000 to use crappie fishing and it’s perfect but looking at the specs the 4000 is rated for 12 lb test so I would think that it would be to small!
Answer: Sorry I can not help, I have the 2000 reel not the 4000. But, the quality is great on the one I have,
Answer: i dont know? Power is not a problem for these reels in my opinion. I do have concerns about the size of the drag washers and the surface area of them. However, for the price, i suspect you wont find a beefier reel. Especially with the old school, a little slower gear ratio. But i dont know the limits? It feels heavier and definatley has more metal in it than many of the china made reels double the plusinno price range. If the drag is ever an issue im sure a teflon based dry lube will smooth the drag oout.
Q:
Can you switch the reel to a left hand or a right hand ?
Answer: It can be either one you want.
Q:
What is the braid capacity?
Answer: sorry your 1/2 wrong, on american made braid 40# braid is 10#mono, on foreign or Japanese braid the braid is 12# mono.
Answer: Depends on the test, they have different diameters you know. Mono to braid or superline conversion info can be found all over the internet but I’ll do the work for you...12lb mono is same diameter as 40lb braid
Q:
Would this reel be good for bass fishing?
Answer: Yes,and the 300 & 4000 would be good choices.
Q:
Can I use this reel for deep sea fishing?
Answer: I’d get the 4000 model for bigger game fish
Answer: Yes, sure. you could try.
Q:
What's the weight of the 3000?
Answer: The 3000 is 8.9oz.
Q:
What if any of the components on the 2000 series are plastic?
Answer: Good question. I haven’t looked it over that closely! I rarely use it because the bail on it is huge and the way I hold the pole it hits me in the knuckles! It’s actually a pretty good reel and smooth however minus the bail size!
Answer: The reel is all metal and well made.
Q:
Do you have the PL5000 available for sale? What is the line capacity?
Answer: 6lb=310/ 8=235/ an excellent light tackle spinning rod.........I assume Amazon still has them for sale
Answer: No I have the 3000.
Q:
Are the bearings sealed? And does it have a sealed drag system?
Answer: Yes they are both enclosed however, unlike a fully enclosed real the bottom section where the spool is has holes to lighten the reel. This exposes the center rod/bolt, which isn’t a big deal.
Q:
How fast are the gears?
Q:
Does the bail automatically close when you start to real in line?
Answer: Yes, but I prefer to push it closed as it’s less wear on the reel.
Answer: Yes it dose.
Answer: Yes!
Q:
How much line Can I spool on 2000 series, 10lb braided? Thank you
Answer: I have the PL 2000 which takes 6lb =370 and 8lb=235. The capacities are listed for the reels on Amazon, when you click on the item
Q:
What size is this reel? I need a 4000.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: The Plusinno reel I have is a 3000. But it is a great reel
Q:
Can this reel be used for a 12 foot fishingpole
Answer: I have used it on an 8 foot pole, the sea poles I have that are 10 feet seem to hold it just fine enough for some use. But I have the smaller size, the largest size should fit very well with a 12 foot pole.
Answer: Yes, I used it in a 7 ft, and the reel is caind of big for it, naw I habe it in a 10 ft pool.
Answer: I wouldn't see why it couldn't, as long as the reel base fits and locks down it should be good
Answer: Definitely!!!
Q:
Best size for small pond smallmouth bass?
Answer: For small pond fishing I would use the 2000, I use it for everything and it works amazing. I’ve brought in everything from small pond fish to 24” trout and the reel is perfect. I have yet to find any beach or small boat freshwater fishing (in Nevada) that this reel can’t handle.
Answer: It Really Depends on the Size of Fish in your Bodies of Water. But in Most Cases, Fishing a Small Pond I Would go with the 2000/3000.
Answer: A lot of fish of different sizes can be in a "Small Pond". It is unlikely that a Small Mouth will be in a small pond but, I would say that either of the three reels would suffice. For myself, all around fishing I prefer the 8 lb line size. It is imperative that you get to know your reel.....the drag set and what rod to match it with. I would suggest something like the Entsport E series with two tips, a med light and a med.
Answer: It will work just fine
Q:
What is the difference among 2000, 3000 and 4000?
Answer: The size of the fishing reel. Look up for info as for which reel you are looking for.
Q:
Does this reel actually have carbon fiber drag washers or are they felt?
Answer: Not sure??? It’s just really smoother in its casting!!!
Q:
It this reel good for some spotty bay bass inshore fishing
Answer: Freshwater fishing only.
Answer: It's a good real I don't know how it will do in the salt.
Q:
What material is the handle made of?
Answer: The main part of the handle is made of metal and and knob is made of high density EVA.
Q:
Is the 3000 model available? The 2000 model is described and I find no option to select and purchase the 3000 or 4000 models.
Answer: I believe this is a question for the seller
Q:
What reel is recommended for the plusinno elite hunter 7ft-spinning rod-m power-ms(golden)?
Answer: The 400
Q:
What size is best for kayak fishing?
Answer: 2000 is ultra light 3000 is for regular fresh water and 4000 could be used for bigger game fish like carp cat fish or salt water
Answer: I think it all depends on what you are fishing for.
Q:
can these reels be lightly sprayed with fresh water to rinse salt water off of them
Answer: I have never fished saltwater. But I would say yes since I just fish fresh water lakes.
Q:
Can it handle steelhead?
Answer: Depends, the max drag is 17.5 lbs on the 4000. If you’re hooking a 12 pounder it would put a pretty hard strain on the drag if you’re reeling into current with a strong fish like that I would think. Kinda like asking if it’ll handle bass. What kind, what size, what water? I think this reel will live up to its specs but I haven’t hooked anything big enough to really test it yet.
Answer: I am sure the drag stopping power of 17.5 lbs will be plenty if the Steelhead is fought properly with the correct pound test line. Wishing you a very happy holiday.
Answer: If you are satisfied with max drag of the reel for that type of fish, then it will. If not, get bigger reel. We don’t have steelheads here, but in my opinion, if you are after some monsters, you will be pushing this reel...
Answer: Sure, the 3000 is plenty just have your drag set properly of course.
Answer: I don't have those here but I would say yes. It is a pretty good reel. Deffinitly give it a run! Good luck fishing!
Q:
Is this reel good for saltwater ?
Answer: Yes,It can be used for freshwater or saltwater.
Q:
Is it good to use in saltwater? And where it’s made?
Answer: This reel was made in China and is also usable in saltwater. Stay safe and tight lines!!!
Answer: Im pretty sure it is made in China and is capable of use in saltwater.
I purchased this to upgrade the default reel that comes with the plussino combo. I am really happy with that decision, its buttery smooth and beefy. So far I have only tested it out once but it felt amazing out there, i preferred using this setup over my kastking baitcaster combo. Looking forward to getting back out there with it.
SodaDrinker : Do not even think about using it near Saltwater
The open spool design causes all the mechanisms to get wet anytime there is water by the reel, using this anywhere near salt water is a huge mistake. Used in salt water, completely rusted and bound the reel even though it was rinsed immediately after use. The cost is cheap, but not worth it.. spend a bit more, get a better reel, and use it for a much longer period of time.
Okbassplayerguy : Great Deal!!!
I've only used it once, but so far it has exceeded my expectations. Seems really nice, especially for the money.
Ernie Vazquez : Designed to land fish.
The smooth action of this reel really sets it apart from others. Sensitivity of the drag setting is designed to be effective no matter of the species of fish you are landing.
I used this reel for salmon. I paired it with a 8’ medium heavy rod, absolutely phenomenal. I definitely recommend this reel.
TB : You get what you pay for,.
I use this reel for saltwater shore fishing. Bought it early 2020 probably seen water half a dozen times. Began to lock up (imagine as if the grease has dried up). Still turn but it's sticky. My dad and I have two Abu Garcia blackmax that are three-four years old. They've been used and abused and are still kicking butt (fish'es, of course). Those cost about $50 a piece. My recommendation is dont go cheap with these. Spend a little extra (under $60, youll find plenty) and buy ones that are well known.
Mick : small drag washers - revise after extended use
2) revised after extended use: I feel obligated to revise my initial assessment after 3 weeks of use. I originally gave this reel a 2 star. I feel much better about it after using it. For the cost I dont know if you will find a better reel until you pay 4 fold or more. Ive used them for 3 week in the back waters of intercoastal, and they seem very well suited. I had a nice Jack on, and the drag was great (I did spray all the washers with dry teflon before use)! They are still a little slow at 5:1 ratio, and it matters sometimes, and a little heavy. However, the value is here. These things are built like a tank. Solid as can be. I now own 16 of them between 3000 and 4000 size for my charter fleet, and not one problem with any of them. Our team got into amberjack with ametuers one day, and they performed very well. They were really tested! Pretty hard to beat them for the cost I think.
1) Just recieved my new 4000's. This reel isnt as light as the high end reels, but a fraction of the cost so somewhat expected. The weight was posted online before i purchased. I knew what i was getting into. Its also not nearly as smooth as i would expect with a supposedely 9 ball bearings, but im hoping they packed them dry. The drag washers appear very small to me, less surface area, less control i presume. the drag washers are about the size of a dime, but the center pin is drilled, so less surface area then a dime, on a 4000 reel. Im skeptical they will be suitable for amberjack in the gulf, or salmon on the great lakes. I would expect a 4000 sized reel to be able to smoothly handle jacks, or salmon. I will have to use in the salt to see if this truly is a saltwater reel. This reel isnt nearly attactive to me as the photos on the ads. The sides have a cheap looking chrome plastic, instead of the all flat black, i thought i was getting. However asthetics and performance are different issues, and i have not put this small drag to the test yet.
returned after 1 trip. Great lookin reel. Only complaint is while retrieving the line very slowly for crappie fishing, it had tight spots. Either the main shaft was slightly bent, or a bad ball bearing. under normal retrieve speed it wasn't noticeable. 21. bucks can't believe the quality, looks and feel can be had for that amount.

Darryl Manning : Great Value
Just used the smallest reel the past three days. Excellent value. Small and light but holds a nice amount of line. Reel operated smoothly and I am well satisfied. Not sure of the reliability yet but looks and feels solid.
Julio soto : Great lil reel very smooth and light weight and can handle red fish
This thing is great very smooth very light weight I have use it in saltwater no problems so far have caught slot reds flounders and sheep heads with no problems I recommend this fish reel has to the pot of my silver max Abu Garcia
Gin & Dar : Spinning Reel
it's a nice product and it's doing great. its light weight and it's got a smooth reel to it.. Durability?? only time could or would tell!! specially with cuts on its bell.. overall... I like it!!!
Dean Z : Excellent reel
The reel is an amazing value. For the money I did not expect it to be so smooth. I have it on a telescopic rod with a 12 lb line because I am taking it with me on my next trip to Florida to try it out there. I have put my normal setup away because I am done fishing here in Michigan for the season. This is otherwise not a setup I would recommend for this reel due to its size but I like the reel so much I want to try it in Florida. I have pictures of it next to my other travel setup to show the size of the reel. The other reel on the picture is a Pflueger 25 which is much better for travel because it is smaller and much lighter. The Plusinno however to me is smoother and I really like the push button fold for the handle. I took the reel out only once before it snowed here in Michigan but I was very impressed with the performance given the price point. I would buy this again and definitely recommend it for anyone that is looking for a very solid reel.
Peter DeQuarto : Extremely Smooth to Cast
I had recently ordered a rod off of wish.com that I *thought* was coming with a reel, but of course I missed the fine print and the reel was not included.
SO, I hop on Amazon and found this PLUSINNO reel at a reasonable price. I had no difficulty at all spooling it with line I had at the house, and once I finally got the opportunity to take it fishing it cast with no issues. It was very smooth coming off the cast, and was able to reel it in quickly when needed too! All around solid reel, with the drag performing flawlessly as well. Also has a handy little button to collapse the reel handle inward so to take up less space.
Very pleased with this purchase.

Chaim Ference : Cheep and Sh!t
It's cheep, seems good and smooth for the first several trips, then it turn to sh!t, I would not recommend to anyone who fishes often, will last a few months then becomes, sh!t
John : good reel
used for 1 season. surprised me for sure. i didn't think i was going to be able to land good fish with it, but this reel pulled in a red fish...definitely a great buy in my book for the money spent.
pcjoes : don't waste your money
they are so flimsy, they are garbage. don't waste your hard earned dollars on this mess. go buy a cadence reel. they are fantastic.
T. Reid : Well made, lightweight and durable fishing reel.
The PLUSINNO Fishing Reel, 9 +1BB Spinning Reel is very easy to use and has a smooth action when reeling. This well made lightweight 3000 reel is perfect for small to medium size fish like bass, crappie, perch or bluegill...to name a few. This is a great fishing reel for starters and fishing pro's alike.
Duane McHan : Proven Performer !!!
What a deal ! Excellent quality at a bargain price !!! I bought 3 of these for wife/kids and paired them to the Plusinno 702MS 7ft IM 6 Graphite Rod for a recent trip to Florida gulf coast. WOW !!! Awesome in-shore saltwater combo !! Also perfect for lakes/streams in the mountains where I live. Honestly believe this outperforms my trusted Kastking/UglyStik combo I have relied upon for years. Tolerated daily saltwater abuse without a single hiccup. Reel is perfectly sealed and the bearings are impeccably smooth and responsive. Pulled in saltwater cats like nobody’s business. Returned to freshwater duty and handled bass/cats like a champ.
Top of the line performance !!!
Plusinno is a proven performer in my book !!!!
Amazon Customer : Excellent quality for a budget reel
Today I received the 2000 size reel I bought, and put 10lb braid on it with a 7' 4lb mono leader. I walked down to the pond for winter trout using spinners, Kastmasters, and jigs, on a 7' ultralight rod. (I caught just two Rainbows, about 12".)
The reel is very smooth and quiet in operation, and the drag is very smooth. I like how the drag clicks when you tighten or loosen - I think that's helpful in setting it to precisely the degree of drag you want. I didn't try any heavy drag settings, but it was very smooth on light settings. In operation I didn't detect any wobble in the spool. There is a tiny, almost undetectable, bit of endplay in the handle elbow, but it's not at all noticeable in use.
The bail operates very smoothly and closes with a solid click. It's clever how the handle folds if you press the button on the "elbow" of the handle. I don't think I've seen that before, but it helps when putting the rod away in a crowded rack.
On retrieval, I was pleased to see that the line was laid evenly on the spool "up and down", without building up at either the top or bottom. It cast great.
I've previously bought two other budget 2000 size reels - a Piscifun "Flame", and a Kastking "Brutus". These reels are all around the $20 price point. My initial feeling is that the Plusinno may be the best value. It seems more smooth in operation, precise, and solid than the other two. The Plusinno also lays line more evenly on the spool than the other two, and I think it casts further as a result.
Time will tell how it holds up. I have hundreds of hours on the other ones, and they're still holding their own. At 8.5 oz. the Plusinno is about an ounce heavier than the Kastking. I don't know the weight of my Piscifun Flame, for comparison.
So, it's a very good value, and seems to be very well made. I look forward to bundling up again and going out in the cold tomorrow with it. It would be helpful if Plusinno had more capacity information for lighter line sizes on the packaging and spool. I would think that many users of the 2000 size will be running 2-4 lb test line, and the lightest test and diameter they list in the capacity info is 6lb. I put some cheap 6 lb mono on for backing, and then added maybe 100 yards of the braid. I wanted to figure how much of each I could put on, and then count the turns of the handle, knowing there were about 24" of line reeled in per revolution of the handle.
Chaim Ference : Cheep and Sh!t

Edward A : Superb Design - Great Price!!!
Really Impressed! The reel is well made and has a very smooth action. The handle is good position and made well. I love the non-slip line design on the reel!!
Carter G. : Great FRESHWATER reel and customer service
When I bought this reel, it was described also for saltwater, which was the use I intended. The saltwater designation has since appropriately been removed from the description. The reel looks great, reeled smoothly, and is a snap to tie braided line on the spool with no slipping. On my first two trips to the surf, the reel worked immaculately, and I rinsed it with freshwater after use. On the third shore trip, the crank was frozen solid, but I did finally break it free enough to use it (very hard, noisy cranking). After returning home, I broke down the reel and saw the bearings and some other components rusting fairly badly from the salt getting inside. I reached out to Plusinno support, and after documenting the issue, they promptly sent me a new reel. I loved the reel until it locked up, and I do believe that with only freshwater use it will perform very well. Great price, great reel, great looks, just keep it away from the beach!
John Zhou : Quality low cost
Amazing reel for the money. No need to spend hundreds of dollar when this will do just fine. I've been fishing for 30+ years. I've been wasting money on expensive reels. This was a shocker at $20. Couldn't believe how good it is for very little money. Maybe they're purposely selling low to gain market entry. Whatever it is I'm very happy with the purchase.
Stephen Mark : Worth every penny
Bought 3 of these for a fishing trip with my brother(in photo) and my dad... Caught 40 fish 20lbs plus.... dropped them in the creek several times...they performed amazing for the cost...????????
Stanley Orchard : I Am Impressed!
I picked up this real because I needed an inexpensive replacement for a real small, everyday lightweight outfit. What I got was something I was not expecting. This reel is quality, especially for the price. At the local Academy or Walmart I would get a Zebco or low-end Shakespeare at this price and what I got was something a lot closer to a cheap Penn or Abu Garcia. The housing is solid, good action and a stout bail for the price. I was going to open it up to do a comparison of the internals versus a Penn but after getting it I decided against it. Didn't want to screw the thing up! I will say that the screws are likely going to rust and it will require more care than a more expensive reel to keep it running, otherwise for the class that I got this thing is solid and I am very pleased with the purchase. I would recommend this product and I would repurchase again if I needed another similar class reel.
joe richardson : Super value
I was hoping for something to meet half of my expectations but what I received really impressed me, a pretty smooth and solid reel for the money. I purchased to fish for panfish and slightly larger Species, it has performed flawlessly, I will be purchasing a couple more, one smaller and one larger.
jschenk : Why buy expensive reels
This reel is better in every way than my neighbor's expensive reels. Bought the midsized one and it reels like butter.
Michael Rosner : Great engineering specs , great price
I purchased the PL3000 PLUSINNO Fishing Reel, 9 +1BB Spinning Reel, Ultra Smooth Powerful, Lightweight Graphite Frame, CNC Aluminum Spool for Freshwater
This is a high quality reel for the price. Smooth and quiet while operating, the one click button foldable ambidextrous handle is convenient for quick breakdowns and assembly. The center ribs on the spool is great for braided line which I prefer to use. The weight of the reel isnt as heavy as you would think it would be for the size of the reel, it’s a modest weight for the size and action of the reel. The engineering quality and price of the reel is great. There is no free floating slack in the line when you close the bail which is a nice feature considering the price of this product you would not expect that. This is a sturdy well engineered product and the price is great. I look forward to trying out other Plusinno Gear such as there telescopic rod and other reels.
Slayermike Fishing and More : Super Lightweight and Durable Fishing Reel for the Money
I ordered the smallest one for ice fishing and was impressed with the quality and how feather light the reel was it also has a push button collapsible handle so it stores nice with out the possibility of accidental damage I love it so much I might buy 2 more for summer
Jeff Sell : Tough reel
Smooth and solid reel. My son dropped this reel in the water with the bail open. The reel was submerged for a few minutes while we pulled all the line into the boat. I was a little upset and thought for sure the reel was done. I let it dry out for a few days and to our surprise it is as good as new. Ordered another one today.
Bryan : An Amazing Bargain for such an Incredible Reel!!!
I read the reviews and they were all true. This reel is built like a tank! It reminded me of my Fin Noor reels with their all metal bodies. It appears to be indestructible. It's not for saltwater so don't make that mistake. I've been fishing with it on this manmade lake in my backyard. Smooth as glass and quiet. Super high quality in a fresh water reel and for under $20! Man OH Man What A Bargain!!!
Jeremy : There is value, there is not disappointment.
I bought the PL 2000 so this review will be based on it. I bought this reel to pair up with a pricey 7ft 30 ton medium fast spinning rod I had purchased earlier this year. It's a good looking reel, smooth dull graphite black in color, with cutouts in the spool to save weight and gold trim give it a really cool Steampunk look. It fits almost perfectly on the roof seat, and feels very stable. I love the oversized crank handle knob and the quick release collapsible handle, saves space when stored. While the reel is very smooth on the retrieve, 9 bearings will do that, they also ensure the reel will virtually never wear out. The plus one bearing is a "one-way" bearing meaning that while retreaving lures or when strikes happen the crank handle stops instantly, there it's no slack, the hook is set harder, there is no sloppy feel that reels without the "Plus one" one-way bearing have. At $20 US. It's a lot of thought, engineering, craftsmanship, value and smooth all sealed into this fishing reel. I would buy this again, I would tell a friend.
TJ : Sturdy and Light
I've been wanting to pick up a 4000 size reel to use in saltwater. This reel is well made and very smooth drag. It's not too heavy considering the size. Will be easy to spool up the braid since the spool has a knurled finish. I also like that the handle has a button to fold it over for easier transport. I've not had this reel on the water yet, but I have confidence it'll do great.
Amazon Customer : Well Built For The Money
For The Money It's a Really Nice Reel. I Fish Mostly Pan Fish, and Whatever Will Sometimes Bite. Being that I Travel, and sometimes Carry a Rod/Reel, the Fold Down Handle Makes for Easy Transport. I Would Definitely Recommend this Reel.
SlowHand : great reel at a great price = value!
I like this reel so much that I bought 2. very smother action, quality construction and well thought out features. I've been using it since the start of the season and love it.
I've bought other, name brand reels for 2-3 times the price and didn't get near the quality. Maybe $100 gets a better fish catcher... but I don't think so.

FishLIkeUs : Quality Product for the Price
This is most definitely a freshwater fishing reel as the bearings of the reel are exposed in the design. The hardware is sturdy and the action is smooth. You get what you pay for in fishing reels and this is a quality product for the price.
Big-D : Good value , awesome reel well balanced good materials
Awesome reel , lightweight design, feels and looks good, stable reel motion and well balanced, great for price perfect gift for any fisherman Love their products
Buzz & Bobbi : I would certainly buy this product again to expand my gear
Very pleased with the style, and durability of this product. I attached it to my telescopic rod and looks and feels great. The reel has a nice travel and super smooth compared to some other brands I have purchased in the past. For the price this is a great value and I am excited to get it out on the pond this afternoon once I get the line spoiled onto it.
James L. : Great reel for money
Man for the money not sure how you can beat this reel. Bought 2 for my young boys and they are pretty good reels. Not sure if this isn’t what I should use and throw it away when something doesn’t work on it and get another.

JB : Quality & cost outstanding!
Purchased this to go along with the Elite Hunter rod as a package deal with line. So far so good. The reel seems smooth & built quite well. Will do a follow up review after a trip next month.
Donkey Khong : Affordable, functional, no frills reel
I'm not a fishing beginner, nor am I a pro angler. I just like to get out and fish when I can. No boat, no saltwater; bank only. This affordable reel lets you get your lure in the water and pulls out a fish if you hook one. Simple, smooth casting. Landed a 1 lb Yellow Perch and a 2 lb bass during my first time out with it. 8 lb mono, in-line spinner on the 3000 model. I just ordered a 2000 and 4000 model just to have, as they're on sale right now. Was skeptical about this brand at first, but it gets the job done.
Spend a little extra (under $60, youll find plenty) and buy ones that are well known.
you can compare the product price from Costco, wayfair, bestbuy, lowes, target, homedepot, Walmart, ebay, amazon to find the best price for you
