Answer: Depends on what you are fishing for. Most saltwater fish love shrimp, but if you are going for bigger game (like I do) you want to use live bait like another fish. I like using bluefish to catch bigger game like Kingfish, Cobia or Tarpon. Make sure your drag is set light so the game doesn't take your rig and have plenty of line so they can run, Good Luck. This product is very poor quality. Do not waste your money! I bought 2 of these for me and my son and right out of the box they seemed awfully cheap but we decided to give them a chance and took them out for the first time today. Very disappointed. Should have sent them back. Sorry I wasted the line on them. If you want to pay 60 dollars for a 25 dollar real then these are for you, but if you want a good reel pay a little more and get one.

Big fish : lots of power holds a lot of line

Awesome reel for the price. Been using it for about a month now throwing big baits from bridges about 3 times a week, Looking for shark tarpon big snook and black drum, Have caught several 100 pound sharks and large 40 inch snook on this reel. Great reel great price I plan on buying a couple more for multiple set ups.

Nice looking reel for the $$. The handle was loose, twisted it back tight and its good. The handle hand a nasty lil bur on it from machining. A couple passes with file on leatherman and its good to go. It felt nice and smooth, no problem with gears while spooling it up with 350 or so yes of sea blue 50 lb braid. And its looks REALLY cool with the blue on the reel!!! It may not be a $600 Shimano Tiagra, but i never had 1 to know either. I dont see a catfosh or Striper in Alabama it cant handle.

This reel looks amazing! The pricing on this is well below the relative quality given. I’m not a rich guy and researched quite a bit to get the best value. I am pleased. I’ve had no problem pulling grouper off the bottom or getting a stubborn amberjack to the boat.

My advice is to put high quality lubricant throughout the moving parts before you go. I realized that they can’t ship the reel if it is overly lubricated. Even with a fresh water rinse, I apparently missed the clicker mechanism. Their customer service was immediate and extremely courteous. They have a customer for life.

These guys are doing it right at an amazing price point.

My new favorite shark fishing reel. I build my own rods but needed a strong reel to pair with a new boat rod I built. This reel was the answer. Tough and an ease to bring in the big ones. Live it.

One short cast and now it won't unlock. Took it apart. Greased it. Got it working. Threw again. Same thing.

Started loosening drag all the way to cast it, which worked decent. Tighten drag back up and use like normal.
But got a small catfish on it, and drag wasnt strong enough to reel it in.

If I had it to do over I would consider other options.

Tension adjustment for spool does nothing even when adjusted to the max. If you're an expert with thumb pressure and really lucky you might avoid a birdsnest. But that doesn't matter because when you let it freespool with the bait clicker engaged it disengages in a click or two and you get a birds nest as soon as something tries to run with your bait. My suggestion is after you birdsnest with a fish on is you start walking backwards while you have a friend ready with a net, it's going to take a joint effort to land a fish.
