Forged Aluminum and Double Anodized Front Cover Forged aluminum provides strength and durability while the double anodization causes the front cover to be anti-corrosive and scratch resistant. The forged aluminum and double anodized front cover looks great while also protecting the inner components of the reel. | Triple-Cam Dial-Adjustable Disk Drag The triple-cam dial-adjustable disk drag provides evenly distributed force on the drag disks, causing smooth drag performance in high-lockdown or low-end drag situations. | 3X Positive Pick-up Ceramic Pins 3X positive pick-up ceramic pins provide 3X the opportunities to pick up line in a single revolution for catching line even faster than before (versus a single-pin system). Ceramic outlasts other materials used for pick-up pins because ceramic is resistant to abrasion from high wear and reduces friction within the reel. |

Questions about Zebco Omega Pro Spincast Fishing Reel, 7 Bearings (6 + Clutch), Instant Anti-Reverse with a Smooth Triple-Cam, Dial-Adjustable Disk Drag, Powerful All-Metal Gears, Spare Spool
Q:
what size line does ir use
Answer: My wife has a 20lb braid on hers. It comes with a 12lb mono
Answer: You can use 2 to 30 lb test with no problem.
Answer: 6 but it's in a bottom of a lake. It tangled every single time I used it. They are junk
Answer: 10 LB.
Answer: I think 15 lb
Answer: 8lb
Q:
Does it click when you reel it in ?
Answer: No, the Zebco Omega Pro does NOT "click" during line retrieval. It is silent.
Answer: Actually if you flip the lever for bite alert it will click when you reel it
Answer: No, its quiet and smooth.
Answer: No
Q:
Can you use for saltwater
Answer: Primarily a freshwater reel. If used in saltwater you should clean the reel promptly.
Answer: Not really a salt water reel, but it might work well for a long time if you rinse it after every use and lubricate with WD40. The components are very simple and it is easy to remove the front cover. If you are just going to make a trip to the salt water you can usually buy a good open faced reel and rod ready to fish for thirty bucks. I've had good luck with these combos in the past and actually still use them along side very expensive outfits.
Answer: Yes, worked very well out around Port O'Conner, TX. Caught lots of Sea Trout and Redfish.
Q:
Blurb says the reel has 7 stainless steel bearings, but the enclosed exploded view shows 3. What gives?
Answer: There are multiple sets of ball bearing on the spool and the crank
Answer: Beats me. Maybe you received the wrong reel.
Answer: I don’t know, been using them for years with regular maintenance and they’re still smooth.
Answer: There is a ball bearing on both sides of the main gear(the part that the handle attaches too), on the top and bottom of the pinion shaft (part that runs up through the reel parallel to the rod) and two in the handle knobs. The 7th bearing is a roller type clutch bearing also on the pinion shaft which both supports the shaft as well as acts as the instant anti reverse.
Q:
What is the gear ratio of this reel?
Answer: Hi,,, Mine is a 3.4:1. Hope this helps! Gary
Q:
Is the line on this reel red or clear?
Answer: the line is red
Answer: The three that I purchased all had red line.
Answer: red
Answer: Red
Answer: Red.
Q:
Where can one buy spare empty spool for this reel"
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Zebco (Zebco.com)
Q:
I prefer using co-polymer line to mono. Can you use co-polymer fishing line such as McCoy mean green on this reel? Thanks.
Answer: Not familiar with that product.
Q:
Any problems with a slip knot for a slipbobber catching or casting inside this reel?
Answer: No problems with this reel at all, that's why I own 3 of them. The old man at the local bait store who replaces all my fishing line was raving about this reel. I dropped off the reel to get my line replaced. When I picked it up he told me he tested the reel and couldn't believe how smoothly it works. He's been doing this for a long, long time.
Answer: Yes. Any knot inside a reel may cause an issue. As far as the Omega, I have used many reels in my fishing days and it by far the finest reel you can but.
Answer: No problem at all, slip knot works fine.
Answer: None so far. It's the nicest spincast I've owned and I've tried many.
Q:
Does the omega zo3 pro have all brass gears like the omega zo3?
Answer: Zo3 like the zo3, yes?
Q:
is this the z02 or z03? which is the one for sale
Answer: That is a picture of a z03.
Q:
Does the spacer that came with the power handle also suppose to fit on the double paddle handle? Mine does not.
Answer: It should fit. Mine does. Sorry I can't help you. Hope you can figure it out. Have you tried googling it?
Q:
is the omega pro 3 z a larger in size reel than the omega pro 2 z reel ?
Answer: Yes. The 2 is the ultra-lite model. takes up to 6 lb line and is far superior to the Z3. If you go for a larger...go for the plain Omega in silver. They are trouble free. The Z3 is troublesome after awhile. My 3's have all been replaced with the plain Omega's. You will note that this has caused the price of the Z3 to drop over time and the Omega price to go up. Wish Zebco would fix this issue. Could be a great reel if they would just upgrade the Omega...although it is already pretty amazing. Good luck!!
Answer: The 3z is a larger reel than the 2z. It holds a larger line than the 2z. I purchased both reels and was very disappointed with the 2z. I got it for bream fishing. On all but the very smallest fish, the drag system was really deficient. I would say save your money on the 2z and go with the 3z. Hope this helps.
Answer: Have never had a pro 2 z reel, so I don`t know, sorry
Answer: Yes,
Answer: Can't tell you I have never had a 2Z. but I can tell you the 3Z is very easy for me to handle and I have small hands. If you have huge hands I wouldn't buy the 3Z
Answer: Yes
Q:
Thanks. this came from amazon warehouse. there was no mention of no pre-spooling on the spool in the reel. shouldn't this be amazon's to correct?
Answer: Yes it should say if it is pre-spooled
Q:
Is the difference between the #2 & #3 their size? if so, how much would that be. do they stand up to salt water? could be a great reel for my wife? th
Answer: The Z03 comes spooled with 10# line whereas the Z02 comes spooled with 6# line. The Z02 is noticeably smaller and, in my case, I use it for ultralight fishing although it is slightly larger than Zebco's ultralight reels. For saltwater I would recommend a reel made specifically for salt water use.
Q:
does it have instant anti-reverse?
Answer: Yes, it does have instant anti-reverse.
Answer: yes it does....just turn the handle forward about an 1/8 of a turn...it does not have a feature to turn it off if you like to back-reel the big-uns...
Q:
What is the biggest fishing line i can stick on it
Answer: I think 10# is the max. The reel its self is very well made and feels very smooth when using. 6#seems to work best with it
Answer: This reel is recommended for 8-12lb mono.
Answer: In my experience, fairly small for it to work properly, 3-5lbs...
Answer: Not sure, I typically put 8-10 test on
Q:
does this reel handle light lures well, need a reel thats good with light lures & still gets good casting distance ?
Answer: This Omega reel handles light lures extremely well. I often use it to fish for crappie with a 1/32 jig and a "mister twister" body. The reel is very conducive to light tackle especially when you use a lighter line like 4 or 6 lb test.
Answer: This reel is amazing. Long casts with light lures. You won't be disappointed.
Answer: The Z02 is an excellent reel...I believe it came with 6lb test and it can throw 1/16 oz just fine.
Answer: Oh ya. Love this reel
Q:
will this reel hold up to carp fishing (15lb and up on a regular trip)
Answer: As good as this reel is, I wouldn't use it for carp fishing for 15 lb & up. 12lb line is all your going to be able to spool on the reel and your better off getting the Zebco 808 or the 888 would be my choice.
Answer: It should. I've got striped bass and largemouth bass on it, with the factory line.
Answer: yes with heavy line
Q:
Is this reel a Zebco Omega pro Z03?
Answer: There are two models of the Omega Pro, the Z02 and the Z03. The Z02 is smaller and uses up to 6lb. test line. The Z03 handles up to 10lb. test line. It is impossible to the difference based on a picture of just one of them.
Answer: Yes it is an awesome reel super smooth love it.
Answer: it looks like one
Q:
This is my first fisihing season using the Omega 3. It casts beautifully, but is noisy really in. How can I fix this?
Answer: I have two Omega 3 reels - they are both silent when reeling in.
Answer: my reel works great and doesn't make any noise, you might try grease on the gears. good luck
Answer: That goes away
Q:
why does my zo3 pro destroy line I can respool my reel and within 10 casts my line comes out all kinked up?
Answer: I love this reel. I have noticed that if the weather or water is very cold that the line will have a bit of curl to it. I use Zebco 6 and 10 lb test line only. The line is designed for these reels.
Answer: Check the instructions on what type line you reel will accept and function? I have found with my Omega pro it works best with small diameter limp line. I’m not a pro it.s just what worked better for me !!
Answer: I use .021 diameter 8 strand braided line and I can throw a fly with it. Try a high quantity braided line and your troubles are over..
Answer: Dan music, how is braided string work on this reel in the long run?
Q:
Any issues with the cheap feeling rubber thumb button?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: not really. reel feels well made. Pro quality.
Answer: One of the only draw backs on the reel is the trigger. Zebbco is awesome to deal with. One year warranty from your receipt date! They sent me a new one after the rubber tore off!
Answer: I haven't had any issues whatsoever. This is one of my most favorite reels as it will cast a mile and is very smooth!
Answer: My reel feels good.
Answer: yes
Q:
Does it have changeable left right rewind?
Answer: Yes you can. Good reel for fishing.
Answer: Yes, it does. It also has single and dual handle.
Answer: yes it's interchangeable and comes with two handles.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: I think so.
Q:
After usoing this for a few months it feels like a bering is going out & hard to reel.... is anyone else having this problem?
Answer: Mine got crunchy after a few 3 lb bass. Didn't seem to be able to handle a few ok bass. Honestly the retrieve was slow it was really only good for baitfishing smaller less aggressive species. Not a bad reel but went with a piscifun baitcaster instead and gave the Zebco away.
Answer: I used mine for effectively one month and it pretty much came apart. Had to toss it due it's being a gift. Max fish caught was a 2lb white bass so I certainly didn't overwhelm it. Frankly I am very disappointed on the quality of the build.
Q:
This real comes in different sizes. Is the "3" the largest size? Is this the best size for large mouth base fishing?
Answer: To my knowledge it is only one size. I own two ZO3PRO’s and they are great for large mouth bass!
Answer: I bought this reel for brown trout autumn run. Consistently reel in 3-6 pounders. I love it
Q:
How much line does it hold?
Answer: Mason... if you were to load it say with a 10 pound line it would take approximately 85 yards 10-Pounds line weight and 85 yards or 255 feet. The less the weight of the line the more it would hold... Hope this helps. They are a bit heavier than the average reel but they preform very well. Zebco has a great product and this one is one of the best in the latest. 50 years ago they made the complete Cardinal series and matched them up with Eagle Claw rods. They all still operate great. Good luck
Answer: That depends on the lb. test of the line.
Answer: the zo2 will take 85 yards of 6lb the so3 takes 85 yards of 10lb
Q:
Say I did get saltwater damage, does the 2 year warrenty cover it?
Answer: Not sure on the warranty but I'm not sure this reel is built for the salt. Very slow retrieve rate and doesn't have the gearing for larger fish. I stopped using it for bass fishing because I missed quite a few hits due to the retrieve speed. Great little reel for Live bait and bobbers.
Q:
what makes the omega zo3 pro lighter than the original omega zo3 ?
Answer: Im not sure that it is.. not noticeably anyhow.. the pro is basically black and its got a single point handle option.. other than that they are same-same.
Q:
What is the best length and action rod for this reel? Thanks!
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: 6'6" medium action with a fast tip
Answer: 6'-6"
Answer: I use it on a 6'6" Med.
Answer: 9 foot salmon/steelhead
Q:
I've seen this listed as a left/right handed reel... but then I see that it's con is it was designed for right handed anglers?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: universal, the handles can be installed on either side to fit angler's preference.
Answer: works both ways you can change it yourself
Q:
mine didnt come with instructions on how to change the spool. how do you change it? Never mind I found a video on You Tube. Got it done and off to
Answer: YouTube has a ton of helpful videos about this product
Q:
What size is this reel?
Answer: I have several of these reels. built like a tank. All the other brands like this model are junk when put to the test. The Z03pro (body only) measures 3" from front to back and width is 2.25". If you include the push button and handle the measurements are: 4"x2.27". Line is 85 yds of 10lb. This model is the bigger model. They are on my wife"s rigs and she can cast as good and sometimes farther than my shimano sustains. Ouch.
Answer: Not sure how to answer this. Size? It is a standard size reel average in size. It holds a large amount of line and is suitable for fresh or salt water
Answer: it is small it is about half the size of a 33
Answer: This model is the ZO3PRO.
Q:
This a good reel for casting smaller light weight lures?
Answer: Yes, I love it. It works so much better than any reel I ever had. The line is very strong but very lightweight. Perfect for any lures.
Answer: I think it is, but the key is to stay with in a range that works for this reel. I have two or three of these and the best spin cast reel ever in my opinion, especially when paired with appropriate sized/weight baits.
Answer: Yes. Really good with Power Pro braided line. Casts very good distance and very smooth.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does this come with the extra crank handle with the double knobs
Answer: Yes, it comes with the single knob handle mounted and a double knob handle in the box.
Answer: Yes it does. Very easy to change.
Answer: yes!!! GREAT PRODUCT!!
Answer: yes it does.
Answer: Yes it does.
Q:
Where can one buy spare empty spool for this reel"
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Zebco (Zebco.com)
Q:
Does it come with line already installed?
Answer: Yes you get 2 sets of line!
Answer: Yes you get 2 sets of line!
Answer: Yes it comes with 10 lb test cajun line, it also has an extra spool with line.
Answer: Yes, also you get a second spool with line installed, Very nice package, Great Reel.
Answer: Yes,red 10 lbs
Answer: I believe so.
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
Does anyone know what pound test line is on the two spools that come with this real?
Answer: 10 pounds on reel, haven't used small spool,
Answer: 6lb.
Q:
Does it come with line
Answer: yes, but the line is awful, replace it with 8- 10lb monofiliment line from someone like Spiderwire, or trilene.
Answer: It does.
Answer: Yes. Mine did.
Q:
Can I use braided line and how much will it hold
Answer: You can use braided line, but you may only get 30-40 yards on it. I have 12lb on mine and it held 50+yards. It is an awesome reel.
Answer: Braided line will cut the stem in time. Not a good idea,.
Answer: zebco rep says absolutely not !
Q:
Does this reel come with line? And can you put 15# line on the reel?
Answer: This reel comes with two spools of line. I am not sure if if would take a 15# test. Personally I might go with a Z03 for that.
Answer: It comes with line not sure what size . I doubt it would take 15# test. My opinion they are just an over priced 202
Answer: Reel comes with line and an extra spool with line. Reel wont work to good with 15# line, not made for it,
Answer: comes with pre- spooled, with 6# Cajun line on reel and spare. Although you could put heavier line, it would compromise casting and reduce capacity.
Answer: Yes it did. It's a red 10 lb line. It says it will hold 15#.
Answer: yes it comes with line and you can put heavy line on it
Q:
Can I use 20 pound test line on this reel?
Answer: I reccomend this spincast for trout, bass and medium catfish. I use twelve pound line and get about 200 yards of it on the spool.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend braided line because it's characteristics aren't ideal for these closed face reels but, it probably would work ok. Having sad that a good quality 20 pound mono type line would function just fine but, you wouldn't get much on. I don't see the reason for a heavy line on a reel with such a low gear ratio anyway. This is not the reel to go after that 7 pound Bass or use at the coast for surf fishing. I use mine for trout fishing and it's loaded with a 6 pound Trilene line.
Answer: It seems to me that the advantage of this small spin cast reel is lost on heavy line. I use mine with 4lb Triline for crappie. That said, I would bet it would still work using the 20lb.
Q:
what items come with this reel?
Answer: The complete reel
Answer: Two loded line spools, one 6 one 10 pound red Cajin line. Two handles, one like shown in picture and a double handle.
Q:
Is it repairable? Can parts be ordered if they go bad?
Answer: Yes you are able to order parts through Zebco.com go to shop Zebco tab on the page and the parts tab is at the bottom.. Then use the search bar to find the model you are looking for!! Good Luck!!
Answer: You should be able to locate parts and or information as to where they are available from this contact... Good Luck
Q:
is the line pick up pin stainless steel or a softer metal
Answer: Per Zebco's online catalog {page 18}, the OMEGA Pro Z03 and Z02 reels, the Pickup Pins are made of Ceramic, not stainless steel. I have both, and the Z03 has 3 pickup pins, but the Z02 only has two. It doesn't seem to affect the Z02 in the least, but the material on the web site/catalog mentions having (3) pickup pins, whereas only the Z03 has that 3 pickup pins .... .
Answer: It's not softer Metal. The overal construction is excellent!
Answer: Stainless
Q:
is it the Compact reel or regular size
Answer: I personally would not consider it compact. But it is an extremely nice reel! It came with an extra spool and an extra handle with two formed for comfort finger knobs.
Answer: Regular size.
Answer: Regular size
Q:
Does it come with the extra handle as well as the spare spool?
Answer: It does have the extra handle and spool.
Answer: Yes, has spare handle and spool.
Answer: yes there are two different handles one with two knobs and the other with one.
Answer: Yes - my order came with both.
Q:
Extra spool?
Answer: It does come with an extra spool, BUT, as a Zebco fan of 55 years, this is the last Zebco reel I will ever buy. The quality of their reels has tanked. I have bought 2 Zebco 33 platinum, 1 Omega, and 1 Bullet in the last 2 years. Every single reel has a very bad habit of the line hanging up during the cast with anything lighter than 1/4 ounce. Tried 4 lb-10 lb line...all the same. Constant hangups. Many people love them, thats fine. Not me. Not anymore.
Answer: Yes it comes with an extra spool!!
Answer: Yes, it came with an extra spool.
Answer: Yes, there is an extra spool.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Anyone have the spool unlock with high drag fight?
Answer: Not yet - I've only used it a few times so far and haven't hooked anything large yet to put up much of a fight.
Answer: No, I have caught sizable Pike on this reel and had no issues.
Answer: i’ve had my Zebco reel for nearly a year and no probs so far.
Answer: Hasn't happened to me. I've been very pleased with it so far.
Answer: Nope. And I’ve had some.
Answer: No no problems
Q:
Are these made in Corona, i mean China?
Answer: Not sure where they're made but the Omega series reels are the very best push button reels I've ever owned. I have 4 of the omega 2 series reels for small fish and one of the omega 3 series reels for larger fish. Corona/China or not the reels are worth the extra $$
Answer: Nowhere on the reel itself or the Box does it say where it is made. But on the instruction manual it says printed in China
Answer: All of our reels are made in China
Answer: Packaging says Tulsa, OK
Answer: They aren’t saying.
Product reviews of Zebco Omega Pro Spincast Fishing Reel, 7 Bearings (6 + Clutch), Instant Anti-Reverse with a Smooth Triple-Cam, Dial-Adjustable Disk Drag, Powerful All-Metal Gears, Spare Spool
Amazon Customer : Last Zebco reel I'll buy
I was initially happy with this reel. The motion was nice and cast well. However after about 20 casts it wasn't reeling in any more. I took it apart and found that the "cap" that holds the line spool on pulled right off the threaded post. Its like the threading isn't a match between the two pieces and was just barely holding initially. I certainly didn't abuse the reel, and would not expect that as a point of failure in any case. I can't see buying another zebco product if this is reflective of their "pro" series.
Outdoor Dad : A great upgrade
Took my boys fishing the other day and noticed that their cheap Zebco 33 reels were not functioning properly. So I decided to upgrade their reels. These Cast smooth and are still easy to use for my young boys. if you are looking for an upgrade. get it.
dionisio : Feels well made
Haven’t used it fishing yet but took it apart and it is certainly well made.
patrick mcginness : Dependable and smooth
Works very well! We have a ton of cotton wood blooms on the pond surface that stick to the line as it reels back in and I have had zero problems thus far!
Zippy : Love Zebco used them for years
you can sit there untangling your line again for the 30th time today or you can catch fish,,why i use a zebco...always works
HKB : great product
this reel is exactly as described, works great and very easy to use. the factory installed line is a little on the light side so i plan to upgrade with a heavier pound test line.
brian denton : Poor crank design.
Design flaws with regard to the crank. Opt for the ZO3 Omega instead. The double handle crank included has way too much play when installed. The single crank bends inward instead of outward which interferes with the thumb of the hand holding the rod. It is vitually identical to the ZO3, but lighter, which leads me to believe that there are more non-metal components inside to shave weight. The ZO3 is superior all the way around.
duped : It's expensive but l think it's worth it
I like it will almost out cast bait caster fished with this real for 2 seasons best spin caster ever used still has same line it came with 10lb would like it to retrieve little faster probably caught 20 fish with it
Mark Rupert : Best Spincast Reel ever made.
This reel is silky smooth. Feels like a 300.00 dollar baitcast reel. The extra spool is a big bonus. Cast well.
This is by far the best spincast reel I have ever used.
Paul O. : Good value for money best reel for a kid. Doesn't get snarled! No really it doesn't!
Very smooth action. This is a good reel for fishing from Shore because it doesn't get tangled if you get caught in a tree. Works fine on a boat too.
PAB1 : Easy to use, solid feel, and works great for me and my grandkids
The Z03PRO is a solid spincast fishing reel. The Z02PRO is a little too small, doesn't hold quite enough line for my needs, but they both work excellent in their roll as a simple and reliable spincast reel. They aren't that cheap, but feel like quality, and cast easily. The perfect reels to help my young grand-kids learn to cast and to fish with. Tried some braid on the extra spool that comes with either reel. That's a nice extra in my book. I found the 20 lb. test braid didn't seem to cast that well and it made a lot of noise reeling in, which I didn't like Mono on one spool and fluorocarbon on the other depending on what your needs are... Nice reel for anyone, not just children. Well made, and casts great for a spincast reel.
Bill : Smoothest reel of its kind!
I’ve used many ultra light spinning reels and all have been unsatisfactory. The main reason is the line twists when reeling it in and eventually gets hard to cast and reel smoothly. This reel has a better technology that solves that issue. Serious ultra light casting fishermen I know swear by this reel. So far the smoothest ultra light I have ever used. I’m planning on it lasting many years for the price.
food for thought : Definitely not a 202.
This is a nice reel, smooth operating and trouble free. It might make you switch from your open bale reel. I bought one for my wife because she doesn't like open bale, after I bought her's I got one for myself too.
DAS : Reel handle binds while cranking
I purchased the Zebco Omega Pro Spincast Reel, model # ZO2PRO, in Sept 2021. With all the bearings this reel has, I was very surprised by the problem it had right out of the box. The reel cranks fine with no load on it. But tie even a tiny weight at the end of the line, eg 1/8 oz, then cast it out and reel it in, and as you are reeling, the handle binds a little at the same point in each full turn of the handle. I suspect that the load pulls one of the reel's shafts slightly out of alignment, and causes it to bind. The binding is not a serious problem if you are just tossing out a natural bait and letting it sit. But if you are casting and retrieving a beetle spin hundreds of times per trip, it gets really annoying very quickly. Very disappointing, because I really wanted to like this reel. Maybe I just got a lemon. I returned the reel for a refund.
Tammy Deuson : Waste of money
For the price, it would have been better to buy two cheap Zebco 33’s. This was a waste of money. Did not last three fishing trips....
Randy Lang : Smooth casting never backlashes
Very smooth casting and retrieving reel. Never backlashes like open face reels and catches fish very well.
Dj Voodooman : Zebco got good again!
I mounted this reel on a 7 foot Cajun Rod and i can cast almost 30 yards using light weight lures and regular worms and love the quick change line that comes with it . Zebco got this right like the original 33. with a long cast and this thing rocks quiet and smooth.
SGM97B : Hate the Rubber Boot on the Casting Button
The headline says it all. In general, the reel lives up to the Zebco standards of quality. It is a nice, small, and slow reel. But the rubber boot causes a lot of problems with casting because your thumb rolls around on the soft rubber boot and locks down the line before you want it to, at times.
David Peck : Good reel in its class
As spin cast reels go I rated it fairly high. I use a spin cast as I drive a tiller steered boat when take out family members, or go myself. It is nice to have a reel that gives no fuss. I have landed quite a few crappies and bluegills and other pan fish with it and have boated Northern pike and bass. After a little experimentation I use it on a lighter rod with 8 pound mono. It is not as good as the Bullet, Zebco's top spin cast but it functions. In addition, the reel has to stand up to pulling in big gobs of weeds which one catches while trolling as well as sometimes fish and weeds.
My daughter gave up on spincasts which she liked, after seeing the less expensive reels break down, one in one trip.
I use spinning and bait casting reels and in many instances prefer them such as a bait caster for bass fishing in heavy weeds. The Omega drag system is not the best and as others mention, I find that I have to keep an eye on it more than with the other reel types. I use a spinning reel for the lighter weight tackle due to that. When replacing the line, the level is fussy and one tends to over fill. It also has a slower retrieve than my other reels which may not be a bad thing as the bigger crappies tend to fight all the way in instead of being skipped on top. More fun that way. The reel is not as smooth as my spinning reels or bait casting, but they are noted for their smoothness.
Paired with a good rod its a worthwhile reel, At least has stood up where the other spin casts have broken down.
duped : It's expensive but l think it's worth it
I like it will almost out cast bait caster fished with this real for 2 seasons best spin caster ever used still has same line it came with 10lb would like it to retrieve little faster probably caught 20 fish with it
DarinB : I think its a pretty robust reel
I got sentimental recently and dug out my 45 year old Zebco 33 rod and reel combo and took it to the local lake and had a blast catching bass on it. I started looking at the newer spincasters and decided to try the Z03. I've only had it for a few weeks but I'm really liking it. I think its a pretty robust reel. I don't really care for the location of the drag adjustment but I think the drag itself is pretty darn good. I like how Zebco gives you two handle choices as I prefer the speed handle over the power handle. The jury is still out on the cajun red line it comes with. I think the line is a bit stiff but I have caught bass with it as the pictures show. Hopefully this reel holds up as well as my old Zebco 33. I have tons of spinning and baitcaster gear but this spincaster is a joy to use. Some people look down on spincasters but I view a reel as a tool to catch fish so I'm not ashamed to be noticed fishing with one. Neither should you.
Roger A. Gilson : Zebco z02
Easy to use. Very smooth and long casting. Great for smaller bass and crappie. Pan fish. Bigger bass or other larger fish may cause you some issues. I did catch a 5lb catfish and a 3lb bass on this reel.

Na'eem Abu Hafsa : Simply awesome.
I am new to fishing so I am not an expert. However, I have had about three or four spincast reels and this is by far the best. I am able to cast a good 50 yards and it is smooth while reeling it in. From my limited knowledge I would highly recommend
Ernie : Reel does not cast well.
I bought my wife one of these reels a year ago and it has worked well for her, so I bought one for myself this season. Last week, I used it for the first time and was disappointed with it's performance. For a brand new reel and line, it continuously "self-snagged" during casting, resulting in many bad casts. Very disappointing.
Amazon Customer : Save your money don't buy junk
It seem like a very good real then I've got to mount it on my ugly stick with Chaturbate in it through it 3 times handles all wobbly the retrieve is very very poor I would not recommend this product for anyone
Robert White : Very pleased
I have been a Zebco user for most of my life, but was very disappointed in the newer iterations of the Zebco 33. I was given my first 33 when I about 10 and it lasted me for the next 15+ years. The ones I bought recently, however, were poor quality and did not hold up well. The only positive thing is they have gotten relatively much cheaper. So I took a chance and bought the Omega because of the good reviews. I am glad I did. This is the Zebco reel I expected. It has the action, the responsiveness and the durability I anticipated. I liked it so much I bought one for my son.

Leigh H. Craddock : This one is a better quality and pricer reel but should be great for ...
Bought two for Xmas gifts. If you don't fish a lot, know the difference between a casting reel or a spinning reel then buy a Zebco. This one is a better quality and pricer reel but should be great for novice fishermen. I go to Canada every summer and have lots of rods and reels, casting and spinning. After seeing this reel I would like to have one myself and my wife said that she wished I'd get her one. If you like to cast a lot and use some lighter lures messing around with a spinning reel can get boring. Just a great looking reel.
N. S. : Love this reel
This is my second Zebco Omega reel which I purchased for my second rod! It casts so easily and works great.
Highly recommend!
Shanon E. : Triple like, four stars is my pre-fishing rating!!!!
As always... I love my Zebcos. This new Omega feels great - the weight and metal finish are really sweet. It has one handle attached on it but came with a twin handle -yay!!!
I recommend a Zebco reel for children and adults. I recommend them to anyone with a disability, MS, Parkingsons, bad neck vertebrae (which clamp down on nerves decreasing hand function)...you get the idea. Even high levels of anxiety over backlash nests get calmed. User friendly reels. These are usually very easy to depress, and they cast with ease a good distance. My lures fly long quite well....right where I want them to land - lightweight ones and bigger lures both cast nicely. Sometimes I throw lures and plastic worms way beyond my baitcasters probably because I trust it more. Okay...I'll be honest I have not used this one yet. I will this month and will report back. What size line can I get on it? I'm not sure yet.
My husband uses 100% baitcasters. And, I just bought two nice Shimano Curados for us...but for my long tourney days when I want to throw a few lures (especially when I'm tired) ...my Zebcos rescue my sanity - I don't ever worry about having to fix a backlash. Fish in the AZ heat, 117 degrees on the water in the summer by 11am and you'll understand frustration mounting with each birds nest. And heat exhaustion. Not too many serious fishermen/women use Bimini tops on their boats, so keep your sanity any way you can. My motto.
Why do I not use Zebcos all the time? Because they don't have the gears our good baitcasters have and I can't use the heavier line on my smaller Zebcos when we are going for BIG Bass. And my husband is trying to get me to switch. But my Dad bought me my first Zebco when I was a kid. My husband actually got me my second one when I was 18. We split at age 21 but my reel preference didn't change. Ha! Now we are married in our fifties. He switched to baitcasters. I stayed on Zebcos for freshwater fishing. I like them and my husband supports my choice. He actually likes the feel and quality of my new Omega reel, and secretly I think he took it out at his last tourney and fished it when his fishing partner wasn't looking. ????
This Omega reel has pre spooled ten pound line on it. Maybe it will take 17 pound line? How about the drag? The drag is not too bad when we grabbed the line and pulled on it. ;). My husband smiled.
Trout, crappie, and smaller fish - go for a Zebco. If you need to look cool or you need to land a really big fish in a tourney then go for a good spinning reel or baitcaster. If your flippin plastic stick to a baitcaster. I'm just hoping my new Omega can reel in a few six pound bass this summer and I keep my sanity.
If you like my review tap the LIKE button. I pay for all my fishing supplies, so my reviews are honest and upfront. But if Zebco asked me to rep their reels I would. If I land a big bass I'll post a photo and up my rating to five stars.
Randy Lang : Smooth casting never backlashes
Very smooth casting and retrieving reel. Never backlashes like open face reels and catches fish very well.
Jamie Marie : Trash
Garbage product. Arrived broken and will not cast or reel in. Piece of junk. Save your money and buy something else. Givning 0 stars until replaced and proven to work as advertised. Having a fishing reel that will not perform is not an option
Joseph Griswold : Well worth the money
I guess this review is more about me than the reel to determine what I mean when I say WOW....I like this reel......I took it for a try as soon as it was delivered today and found it ready to go and a very nice reel. I'm loving it, and it, will not only make my fishing time more enjoyable, but more often.....I'm closing in on 70 real quick so you know not too much impresses me anymore.....but admittedly I'm an occasional fisherman, and have always bought my gear off the rack and they usually were the Zebco products, which weren't the lowest end, but certainly not high priced.....This thing makes casting easy, and the more I fish, the better it got....I could poke that bait and hook just about where I wanted itspl and cast a good distance flawlessly with only a tiny split shot on.....It works great and it looks and feels right.....
Bass Man : One best Spincast Reels on the Market
Zebco is the king of spincast reels. My kids used Zebco 33 growing up. They are still going strong. The Omega Pro Z03PRO is solid with metal housing. Very smooth reeling. Comes with extra double handles and spool. Easy to by just pressing and releasing the button to cast. Only improvement is strong drag to fight the Hogs. Recommended buy if you want a easy to use low maintenance fishing reel. Good for beginners too.

DRAGONBONES : Cheap Line
The line they use when fishing gets wet the hook area comes off. Too easy to break once wet. I need to put on better fishing line.
Robert Martin : Great reel!
Despite some of the Mocho men out there that say this is "for kids" or good "beginner reel" this is a great reel for all ages and skill levels. Sometimes you just like the simplicity of casting and put the lure on a dime without worrying about back lash or if you set the magnetic and mechanical break for that Luer. If you are like me and like simplicity and accuracy and a good quality reel get this one you will not be disappointed...
Amazon Customer : Versus the Pflueger President
This is a quality product by Zebco. Admit-tingly I am tough on reels. This one can take a good beating. It has a great cast and awesome retrieval system. I’ve caught, six pound bass with this reel and retrieving them hasn’t been any trouble. I am not a professional by any means but I do fish daily and I have pulled at least 30 bass with this reel with most of them over 3 lbs. the reel did amazingly well. The retrieval mechanism engages immediately making that initial grab easy to feel. I am extremely satisfied and would recommend this as an alternative to a bait cast reel which tend to be expensive and give you those dreaded birds nests. Personally I would rather be fishing than fixing the reel. Impressive rig that won’t leave you wishing you had gotten a different one. The only down side to the reel is line capacity. If you use braided line, heavy at least, it doesn’t hold a lot.
Amazon Customer : Great For Bass or Pike Fishing In Heavy Cover With Braid
Put 20 pound braid on mine and only than an occasional hang up works great. Handed a 28 inch pike with no problem.
Pvic : Super smooth high speed reel.
Best real I’ve had, super smooth drag, easy replaceable spool, for varying line weights. Is capable of cast braided line for bass.
sherid : Nice for the price
Pros: Light; easy peasy to cast; no backlashes ever; much easier than a spinning reel; great for beginners, children and people who fish everyday and don't like the hassle of a spinning reel; smooth casting and reeling in.
Cons: I'm now on # 4 in a time period of 1 year. We live in Galveston, and go bay fishing just about everyday. My husband washes it off everyday when we come in, and oils it once a week. But after a few months, casting is not so smooth, and even will jerk in mid air a tad. Reeling in is not so smooth after a few months. But I like it so much, I just order another one. I still use a spinning reel too, but honestly, this is the best and easiest reel ever for the money. I think if you were fishing in fresh water instead of salt, it would last a lot longer. It also gets great ratings from anglers, and I recommend you read a few before you buy.

RA61704 : Zebco Exceeds Expectations!
I have used Zebco reels for at least 4 decades, and have been satisfied with the product delivered at a solid value. When I started fishing again during the Covid-19 epidemic, I sought a step up in equipment. I wanted a spincast reel, but with upgraded performance capabilities. THIS IS IT! The Omega Z02 is smooth as silk and fast as lightning. There's a second spool included if I decide to go with a setup using something heavier. There's a speed retrieve handle if I decide faster rather than powerful. Moving from a 33 to the Z02 is like moving from Timex to Tag Heuer. The Timex will never let you down, but the Tag will give you real confidence in the technology at play.
HKB : great product
this reel is exactly as described, works great and very easy to use. the factory installed line is a little on the light side so i plan to upgrade with a heavier pound test line.
Mark : Highly recommend this reel
Very nice reel. Needed something to cast really light lures and this is magical. Well made too. Great addition to my bait casters!
