I was in there today and saw they had their Field and Stream Tec Spec Elite rods on clearance from $79.99 down to $69.97 with 75% off for a total of $17.48 each. I grabbed 2; a 7 m/f and a 7-6 h/f. I know they are not great rods but, geeze, for $17 I'll keep em as spares.

I got a 7'6" flippin pitchin rod for 20
I need to go check them out tomorrow, I like those rods, I actually almost picked one up about 6 months ago and I liked the way it felt when they were clearing out the ABU Garcia Vendettas for 75% off. I actually think the elites are a much better rod than the $69-$79 price tag would suggest. I have fished a few of my friend's Tech spec rods and the flippin sticks are actually a nice action and they have a nice soft tip yet plenty of back bone for what you need.
I am hoping they have a 7'6" spinning rod left in heavy action for my soft bait fishing in grassy lakes, or a 6'-6-6' casting rod for my jerkbait fishing in Medium action which I have held in the store and they felt good. I have too many rods as it is, but for $20 they would upgrade a few set ups and I can sell the rods I am replacing on Ebay and make it at least a wash or even small profit...
Thanks for the info...Xcalibur One Knockers and xr50-xr100 lipless cranks, 100-300 squarebills, evers jerkbaits, and zell pops have been $2.99 and buy one get one 1/2 for a long time now. I also found a ton of nice stuff on clearance from Rage, Mister Twister, Damiki, UV tightlines and all kinds of good stuff.
Bomber Model A Wake baits were .99 which is a steal, that is a nice little crank for 0-3' and they had the Megastrike Shaky heads and Cavitron buzz baits in stock, I think I paid $6 for each pack of shaky heads, and $7.99 ea for 2 buzzbaits but they are must haves in the shaky head, buzzbait category. The Megastrike scent is a no-brainer, I have enough as it is so I refrained from buying more and instead invested in some power pro slick on sale.
Those are awesome prices you guys got.
Up here in Canada, we have nothing even close to those type of sales.
I hit them today as well. I picked some more tungsten weights ($3 a pack), VMC Jigs ($2 a pack), GYCB Swimbaits ($2 a pack), and more Trilene 100% FC ($10 a spool). I was tempted to pick up a Shimano Crucial Swimbait rod. I had it price checked> $32.... Still kicking myself for not picking it up but buying it would lead to more swimbaits and another reel that I might use on occasion.
I hate threads like this. Now I have to stop by Dicks and check it out for myself....Lord help me.
Going today. We'll see what happens. I'm hopeful, but not too much.
Rods still regular price. They had nothing, except for a single Clown EE2 Jerkbait for $4 and Pumpkin Ed2 jig heads for $1.50. All but given up on DSG. They didn't even have any tungsten weights..
Went earlier today picked a shimano crucial crankbait rod 7' MHpower, MF action .
Was on sale for 84.97 then they had an extra 20 percent off.
Out the door for $67.98 plus tax.
Paired it with a lews bb1 felt really nice making some casts in my backyard.
The Bait Monkey thanks you for the information.
Honestly, if you are looking for a few deals, Gander Mt may be a good place to look. Rarely do they have clearance buy, they had Ardent's (The Apex Series) Marked down by $20 plus 10% off. They also had the Tatula marked down to $117. I went in store and felt it up. It's a litle big, in terms of size of the frame, its not the heaviest or lightest reel ever, but it feels extremely smooth and solid. It feels of quality construction, and the reeling is smooth, with little to no handle backplay. If I was in the market for a new reel, that's the route I would go.
For being 20 minutes from Kentucky Lake, the Paducah, KY store doesn't have a thing. I don't see hardly any F&S rods. Just a bunch of el cheapo Shakespeare combos and 10' Mr. Crappie rods. I think 90% of their store is clothes. Even the Gander Mountain across the road is a joke.
I went in last night to look for the rods and didn't see anything. I told them I was looking for the 7'6" F&S bass rods and they took me to telescopic crappie jig poles.
Their store is a joke and has been a joke. Can't stand them. The Gander was the same way and they did a reflow and redesign and supposedly got new management. It was better for a while but nowadays the fishing department is empty, disorganized, and overpriced.
I am forced to buy tackle from Cabela's and TW online. Ok by me I guess.
I'll try to stop tomorrow on the way home from work, but I am not expecting to see any deals like that. My DSG store doesn't seem to have many of the sales (or sale items) others often have.

I have 3 dsg stores near me, one large store ( two floors) has a good amount of merchandise and frequent it often, while the other two are smaller and close to useless.
So it will depend on the size of store as to how much they stock.
39.54 for a pflueger supreme mgx spinning reel. Picked up a few
Some of you might find this useful. Not sure if it works, but it appears to be active.
Oh dang, that would have been a better deal with that coupon
I bet if you went back and talked to a manager, you could get them to give you the money back, or maybe even just a store gift card.
Might give it a shot, or find something else to buy lol

Got one for $37 at one of several stores in our area about a month ago. They only had 1 left or else I would have stocked up.

Pretty much my experience when I was there on Saturday. They didn't have much in the way of inventory and very little was on sale. Can't wait till the new Cabela's going up next door opens in a few months!

hope yours is better than the disappointment they opened up the road from me..... DSG is actually not too bad around here, i know they can be really hit or miss though.
I don't think I've spent $100 or more at DSG in my lifetime..On 1/20/2015 at 3:37 AM, fishballer06 said:Some of you might find this useful. Not sure if it works, but it appears to be active.
Yep, during the summer I found a Quantum Smoke SL100HPT on display for $99, went to the Dick's Sporting Goods on the other side of town and saw it for $199. Well, Dick's messed up and we got if for $99 by having them call the first store.
I stopped by another local DSG tonight and they had a few Tec Spec Elites left on the shelf. They didn't have any clearance tags on them so I asked for a price check. All the models rang up $0.23....yup 23 cents. But the cashier called the dept mgr and he said that it was priced wrong and would not let me purchase it at the register price. He adjusted the price to $22.48, which is still a good price but not as good as 23 cents (I ended up buying the rods). Go check your DSG stores. Maybe one of you will get lucky and get one for less than a quarter.
was able to find a 37 dollar supreme...just it was the display model without a box...they wouldn't drop the price anymore:P still bought it...haha
They have .73 cent berkley gripper jigs
You gotta love Dick's. I was looking at a different Dick's the other day. Like the biggest Dick's I've ever seen! Two stories with some quality hardware. That town has the biggest Dick's in the world!
Lews Tournament SL rods....MSRP $120...$29.98. Fo shizzle, B!
My local Dick's are small...but this big Dick's had some great rods.
I went to dicks yesterday to get some wieghts, and walked to the checkout with one of the green baskets loaded! Sk jerkbaits $3! 10xd $5! They had a lot of good stuff on clearance with additional 50% off lowest advertised price. Even their tungsten was dirt cheap! I ended up SAVING $64 dollars, the bait monkey should be happy for a day or two
ive got two local DSG. checked out one yesterday. didnt hav alot of time or ida picked up some baits. hopefully the sale will be still on next week and ill go back. couls hav picked up a Crucial for 60bucks
Just picked up a shimano crucial 7'2 mh XF for only $45!!!!
Goodness, you guys are finding some great
deals! I was at DSJ a couple days ago, only
some TechSpec rods on clearance, none of
interest to me...
However, for $7 I was able to land 3 BooYah
jigs and a Strike King football jig, as well as a
Dip n glo marker. Not bad savings
Oh yeah...there's also a Mojo Bass half price. It's a heavy rod, so I wasn't interested.

Good point Grant; there are some great savings on anything ending in .93 or .97. Good to see some of you getting some good deals!

What Dicks are you talking about? I see you're in Lees Summit, and I'm not terribly far from there.
Racked up on eco pro tungsten drop shot weights. $2 each.
I just saved 123 bucks. That was awesome I got a Veritas for like 35 and a diawa lexa for 40 and tons of baits some for 1 dollar I got some live targets for 5 bucks. Wow thank you guys for the heads up.

Which DSG did you hit up? Nashua?
Great find btw! Always fun scooping quality stuff for pennies on the dollar.
the one at the Dedham mall. They were practically giving stuff away. Tons of crankbaits for 2 bucks it was awesome. I think they said it was the last day too.On 1/25/2015 at 4:00 AM, crankbank said:Which DSG did you hit up? Nashua?

Ah thanks, I may have to go swing by one. I am still recovering from my last DSG spurge, but it is tough to pass up some of these discounts.
Well I saw all the deals you guys were getting and just had to go back. DT10's for 2.50 ea, tungsten worm weights for 2.98 per pack and Trilene 100% Fluoro for 9.98. Just can't go wrong.

Thanks! I might make a trip out there.
I live out in the sticks and don't get to shop at large stores often, but I may be driving past a Dick's and a Field and Stream on Saturday. I know that both stores are owned by the same company, but is it safe to assume that they run the same sales? Assuming I didn't want to risk my wife telling me to cut it out and stop buying stuff, if I was only to stop at one store, which would likely offer the better deals? I know that the Field and Stream will have a nicer fishing department, but will the sales be as good?

DSG's are funny with their sales and clearance. Some stores will have extra 50% off clearance others 25% and maybe another will have nothing. Regular and sale prices sometimes vary from store to store in my area.

I agree with this. On top of that, they don't announce it. Yes, sometimes they have the red clearance stickers, and other times if you buy x amount of one bait they have a discount on other bags of the same bait you purchase. If I knew the sale was going on in the 1st place I would have gotten more stuff...lol
headed to dicks now. hope this sale is still happenin
Please report back and let us know!!On 1/26/2015 at 4:32 AM, robster80 said:headed to dicks now. hope this sale is still happenin
Was planning to make a trip to dicks but of course plans changed and I will have wait till tomorrow after work.
Ganggreen, Dicks had this crazy sale about a month or so ago and I know someone reported that field and stream was not do the sale at that time. So if you had to pick one store, I would go for Dicks, more than likely they would over field and stream.
Sunday funday, the DSG bandit strikes again.
Went to the store in Nashua, NH and pillaged it.
I think the two best buys were the LC 78s and 100s for $6. 5" Gary's were $2.48, was blown away at the amount of Gary's they had.
All in all, $123 was spent.
I wish my store higher end items... Just the same run of the mill
Made out pretty good at the two DSG's in Fairfax County area today. 50% off all clearance items. Snagged several Storm Arashi's square bills, several Sebile suspending jerkbaits, several Livetarget frogs/field mice, and KVD frogs, KVD SS O rings, and Strike King spinnerbaits. Like the pic above, they had lots of shaky head jigs also. I was pretty psyched to get some quality stuff. Thanks guys for starting this thread.

Also, thanks for posting this! worked like a charm.
Finally saw some savings at my DSG, but it was all lures. I did get some kvd trebles for about a dollar, and ill probably go back and clean them out at that price. Picked up some bb crickets and RI beavers for a dollar/pack. Got two cavitrons for $2/piece. ( can't beat that! ), grabbed an assortment of gripper jigs for $.70/piece.
What I want/ actually NEED is a big crank rod. No rods were on sale at all.
Went back last night ... a friend got 2 field and stream elite rods for less than $45. 6'10" MH Spinnerbait rods.
I racked up on Lucky Craft pointers for less than $6.50 each and a bunch of Missile baits at $1.50 each.
They are truly clearing out ... WOW!
i really made out at the one nearest me... went in on thursday night and the rod/reel deals were so good it was really all i was focused on. i basically ran out of the store.
cumara 6'8" spinning MF
cumara 6'8" casting MHF
Pflueger supreme mgx reel
trokar trebles
arashi crankbait
kinky beavers
all for $193!!!
so i went back on friday night because i knew that there were some things i missed the previous night.
rage chunks
megabass 110 jr
(2x) lucky craft 110
(5x) jackall tungsten spade jig
keitech swim jig
jackall wacky jig heads
(4x) keitech salty core stick
all for $61!!!
Went back in this weekend (5 packs of hooks, 2 packs Cut-R's, Salty-Core, 300yd Power Pro, GYCB craws, Arashi Sq Bill) all for $21.
i feel stupid for not asking now. But what i thought was only two colors of Senkos were onsale at my tulsa store. cause it said take 50% off prices ending in .x7 luckily one color was a color i actully needed. Im thinking maybe i should have had someone scan the other ending in .99 to be sure?

I'm pretty sure we are shopping at the same store. Do you go to the Woodbridge store? I went to Woodbridge and Springfield. Springfield had the most on clearance. Are they re-stocking the clearance racks? I've only been once, yesterday. Their clearance stock is low as of yesterday though.

Kyle, I've only ever been in the Woodbridge store (and I think Williamsburg.)
Woodbridge store clearance stuff has been totally chaotic the last couple months. I've found something different every visit. From a $200 reel for $60, to 75% off rods to just a few hooks. No rhyme or reason, but, yes, they do put different stuff up all the time. I am guessing that discontinued and overstock from distribution centers gets pushed out without regard to the predicted sales market. Don't say any more about the Springfield store -- I've got much more stuff than I need or want already.

wish my local dicks had the Cumara rods. all they had was a couple Crucials. i may pick one up for the heck of it if the sale is still going on this week.

funny part is i'd never seen the cumara's even at regular price in this location.... then i walk in on Thursday night and they are priced $159.97 and the sticker says 50%off of that. there were 3 of them and i walked out with 2. if i had the extra $$ i would have bought the 3rd one just because.... but opted for the spinning reel that i "needed"
shoot im going back and make sure i didnt overlook the cumaras
My bud was at D`s when he called me,so excited he was stuttering about LC`s at $5=6 ea.

I got some Senkos, jigs, spinnerbaits, braid, and hooks all for half off clearance. Love it. Gonna check 2 more Dicks too.
Also.. if you're near a Menards, check their clearance. They carry Berkley products, and they are all half off. Got some Powerbait worms and gripper jigs for $2 each. Not bad.
I may have to go back and pick up a few more baitcasting rods if these sales are still going on. I made out like a bandit a few weeks back - was able to scoop up about $680 worth of stuff for $202. However, one of the reels I bought, the quantum energy baitcaster was damaged. I had to send the reel back to quantum for service and instead of fixing the one I sent in, they opted to just send me 2(!) of the 2015 models. That ups the total to over $840ish worth of gear for $202. I still can't believe it. Kind of mind boggling.
Biggest problem is I now have two quantum energy E100HPT's in 7.0.1 and shimano curado 200G6 in 6.5.1 without rods.
Any suggestions on what I should pair these to and for what purpose? Was going to use one of the energy's for flipping and pitching on a H XF rod.
VMC terminal tackle! Tungsten drop shots..several shapes --- less than $2/pack several weights
VMC round bend WG hooks 1/0-4/0 ----leads than $2 per pack
VMC inline trebles - red 10pk - $2
Stocked up on terminal but saved a little $$$ for a Megabass popmax they just stocked the shelf with ...so there's another $20.
My advice ....don't carry a basket until you can't hold it all and then you'll realize that maybe you should but a little back LOL

Have a friend that works in the lodge or whatever and I asked was it just normal stock turn over and it wasn't they're under reorganization with more brands the had 2 fire sales. In Alabama 2-4 weeks ago they had tackle 25-50% of depending on the last digit in the price (9 and 7). Cleared a good bit out and moved the rest to the front with an extra 50% clearance price. Point being there ramping up higher end and popular brands that you might only see at *** like Megabass, lucky craft, youzuri, keitech and so on
I hope it's a good mix and not just $25 hard baits ...even though I love the 110s and popmax baits. If only they'd get the reaction innovation vixen but is highly unlikely
why is it that most of their stuff isn't marked? it seems like some reels and some rods are not marked for clearance...now i feel like i have to ask for a price check on every thing haha
Ya dicks is a joke went in and they had a sale 75% off all products ending in .93, .43, and .53. They didn't have anything ending in those numbers. I even asked why they had this up and he couldn't respond. Bass pro is slowly becoming this way. But I still have hope that someday they'll bring there prices down. Academy sports is where it's at for me right now. Everything is correctly priced or underpriced. Tons of sales, and their H20 stuff is awesome compared to bass pros XPS. Found a bunch of yum plastics for $0.99 each pack at academy too.
Keep going back to that dicks that you feel is a "joke". You'll hit them at just the right time and you'll be screaming with joy like the rest of us.
Sale ends on the 31st guys, just a heads up!
8 lucky craft pointers for $40. I'm very excited to try these in the spring hoping they work half as good as the gunfish I bought last summer.

Does it end this Saturday the? Im going on Saturday to dicks.
good. the few times ive been i was in a rush and said screw it ill come back later im going friday and stocking up.
I made a sweep of 4 Dick's in the Twin Cities and scooped up a ton of good stuff this week. The sale has been going awhile so the picking is getting slim, but I managed to score a lot. Picked up a bunch of frogs (KVD, scum), lots of senkos and zoom plastics, tons of DT's, tons of flicker shads, some hooks, rat-l-traps, hula poppers, some KVD tour pro spinners, a buncha jigs, and some lindy rigs. All 50% off clearance.
No rods to be found.
Im assuming Saturday is the last day so you should be fine. I saw all the signs last night when i was there and figured I would let you guys know since no one really mentioned it.

Yah I was planning on going Saturday for the clearance sales. Why doesn't DIck's actually advertise their sales? Like online or flyers?

I have no clue, if they would advertise they would sell so much more and make more room for new stuff!
Picked up a bunch of Bomber Squarebills for .98 each and Rage Tail Cutters at $1.50 a pack. Everything was picked over, but they still had a pile of stuff, just nothing I needed. Hagerstown, Md. store. Brian.
I'm happy they don't advertise. All the good stuff would be gone the first day.
Honestly I think they're better off the way it is, they get loyal customers like me. ...who will come in any chance I get just to see if I will catch a sale- and then end up buying SOMETHING for my trouble. Its good marketing. .....I don't remember the last time walked out of there empty handed.
Scored some suffix 832 300 yd $16. It was half off of $32. Some 12lb Berkeley 100% for I think 6 or $8 and a thing of tungsten 1/16 oz weight for like a buck and some change. It was like 50% off of everything clearance ending in .43 and so on. Good heads! Like you all say, they don't advertise which sucks. Someone had been in the store though because all the good stuff like tungsten and the 832 braid was gone. I got the last 832. I gotta check the other store tomorrow! They sell the good stuff!
I just jacked the other store in my area. Wiped them out on CutR worms, KVD frogs, and one LC 78 pointer. Also grabbed a few packs of missile tomahawk worms. I love some sweet deals.
Wow I GOTTA check!!
went today. mine had no LC pointers but i lucked up on some fat ikas
I got a few Pointer 78SPs and a couple small SK jigs that were ~.90 each
Keep in mind that the employees there really don't know how to merchandise very well so be sure to go up and down every single isle; including the saltwater isles. I have found some good bass stuff mixed in with the saltwater stuff.
I consider myself lucky because I have 3 stores within a 15 mile radius. Most people in this area perfer Academy, but to me their selection is poor, so I will hit up these 3 stores searching for deals.
For those in the N. Dallas area, I just left the one at the Tollway & Alpha. There was a Veritas 7' MH spinning rod marked down to $69.97 plus an additional 50% off. And a St. Croix Mojo 7'9" swimbait rod for $119.97 with an additional 50% off. Also had Power Pro & CXX line left. Not much else left in hard or soft plastic baits. Last day - go get 'em!

Yep. Mark down price was $69.97 & then you get 50% off of that. They had a M & MH spinning left - I bought the M.
Scored a 6'10" mhf crucial spinnerbait rod for $63, plus a dt6, couple bitsy bugs, trilene 100% fluoro and sufix performance braid. Total bill was $88. I'm a happy camper!
Went to visit my folks in Yonkers. Decided to stop by one close by. Scored a Veritas 7'6" MH for $40. Tungsten drop shots for around a $1.30 each and some UA fishing shirts at under $7. Major score IMO!
I went today and actually found some sales. I usually don't have any luck with stuff like that. the salesman said today was the last day for these sales, so I jumped on some.

Clearance is good till 2/14
My local Dick's doesn't have a great selection, but I did find a few things I needed and thought were worth grabbing at the huge discounts. Ended up spending $60 on:
7 Luck E Strike RC STX jerkbaits. I got one of each color that they had available.
And some VMC Tungsten drop shot weights (1/8,3/16 and 1/4 oz), VMC Spinshot hooks (1/0 and 2/0), and VMC worm hooks (2/0 and 3/0) outlined in red.
Get this ... there was a flurry of people who raided the DSG in Latham, NY. There was a Shimano combo which was being sold for under $20 which retailed for over $120. My friend ended up with 3 of those combos. As a result that DSG went through with their staff and starting pulling things off the shelves. Someone made some mistakes ... LOL
Wow, im in syracuse NY, I dont remember seeing any shimano "Combos" at the stores here, which kind of combo was this?
Went to my local Field and Stream last week and they had 3 different colors of the D-Bombs on clearance for $3.47, with an extra 30% off that price. They also had all Lucky Craft lures for 20% off. Add on my $10 off feedback survey coupon, I made out like a bandit.
Went home, thought about it some, and then the next day during my lunch break I ran back to the store and bought all their remaining packages of the clearance D-Bombs. I also noticed on my return trip, that the LC baits were no longer 20% off.
Wow it must Change quick!!

Not sure ... My friend just told me it was a 6'10" MH Fast baitcasting combo. The shimano reel sounded a basic 4 bearing model which had good reviews. He was extremely excited by it. LOL

Seems to change often, also seems to vary from store to store for the most part. I don't know why.
This is coming from a person who has 3 in my area (Latham, Albany and Saratoga Springs) and also happened to visit the Yonkers, NY and Charlotte, NC locations because of travel in the last two weeks.
I picked up an array of rods and tackle from them as well. For a guy on a budget like me, it's excellent to be able to grab a few more rods with different actions, rather than use what I have for techniques that don't work well with those rods (or have a backup if I break a similar rod).
I picked up the tech spec elite casting: Spinnerbait, Magnum, Soft Plastic, Swimbait, and picked up a Swimbait and Magnum for my father.
The next day at another DSG I picked up a Spinning rod; forgot what the "technique" listed was, but for $17.50 I couldn't help it.
Also picked up KVD frogs, tungsten worm weights, Mustad trebles (1.88/pack!), Abu Garcia Orra SX ($30), and a few chatterbaits. I would have loved to find some of the Model A wakebaits and Zell pops I see that some of you found..
They say "every season starts a Dicks" but in MA I say "every off-season starts at dicks" because that's when I'm able to sock up on some good cheap gear for the season ahead
has anyone been in there this week? any specials still going on?
Stopped in Tuesday. 50% is done. Most red tags gone. They did have 20%off of pet's, but little else of interest
The sale ended on 31st of January. Now, there are no more 50% of clearance items. But if you go into Academy, right now they are having their sale.
Yeah. Dicks is done here also.
Academy is clearing house now. ....
good. ive got two academys in my area. they always have crazy good deals
I was in Valley Forge, PA DSG yesterday and racked up on VMC tungsten flippin weights for $2.50 each. Took them all!
Just got back from DSG. The 50% off clearance is over now and what's left is pretty pathetic. However, Sebile Action First Hardbaits are 2/$5. Also there is a $5 mail-in rebate that prints off after purchase, so if you fill that out the lures are FREE! Grabbed a few different ones to try out, haven't had luck the few times I have used one I have currently. Hopefully one of the new ones will be the deal. Also today, got a nice heat gear Under Armour mossy oak long sleeve shirt for $17.48. The hunting clearance is still 50% off and these shirts are great for summer fishing, even though I'm not big on looking like a tree. :]
During the fishing sale I bought a bunch of Havoc backslides for .98 cents a pack. Some Yum Dingers for $1.98, Livetarget baitball popper $6.23, bunch of VMC of hooks for $1.23. Scumfrog, scroungers, line, too much! My favorite scoop was a new Daiwa Lexa 2500 spinning reel for $58.48, can't wait to try it out.
This thread was a great heads up, just wish I had seen it as soon is it posted!
going to two diffrnt Dicks and Academys tmrw. if any good deals goin on ill post
lol @ this academy sale item
I just got back from Dick's and I was not impressed.
They did not have the line I wanted, nor the rods I wanted to look at. They are available only through their website online.
So I asked about clearance rods, reels, and lures, and they had one small rack of lures, so I started grabbing a few and some Trilene braid marked down to $5.97. I had just put one roll in my basket and was going back for 2 more rolls and the manager came over and said the items on clearance were not priced right and he rolled the entire clearance display into the back warehouse and said the items I had just picked out would not price out at the register as they were marked on the clearance rack and he would not budge on letting me have it for that price since I already had it in hand. The Trilene braid was now $17.97.
Needless to say it, but Dick's was a complete waste of time. At least Gander Mountain had a ton of clearance lures marked 50% off the price tag so I cleaned up on some things there.
Bottom line is I can now see I have no reason to ever go back to Dick's. They have reduced the size of their fishing dept down to just about useless. Even their fishing line choices are super limited.
While at Gander Mountain they are still useful in that they have tons of clearance lures marked down. But even they have reduced their fishing dept. size down to almost as bad as Dick's.
I was surprised to find at Gander Mountain they still had Shimano curado CU-200G7 and Shimano Curado CU-300E7 reels on display being sold as new when I just checked with a Shimano dealer yesterday that parts are already being discontinued for those reels and Gander Mountain is still selling them on display as new? And they did not even have any new curado reels on display. What's up with that?
It is clear that from now on my only real choice for a wide selection of fishing gear is Bass Pro. I just wish the closest store was not an hour away.

You just missed the sale at Dick's. Those red clearance lablels were supposed to end and be rolled out after the 31st of January.
I was looking at a rack of red labels- the same one the manager said were all priced incorrectly. He rolled the display off the show floor and into the back warehouse right in front of me as I was grabbing for stuff! I wanted two more rolls of Trilene braid and he said it would not ring up for the red tag price of $5.97 per roll. I had to put more than half of the items I grabbed back. I was not going to pay $17.97 for that braid, not when I can get it cheaper on ebay.
At this point after finding out Dick's had the items I wanted only online and none in the store, I have no reason to go back there. Gander Mountain is another story. They have nice clearance bins all over the place. Dick's did not.
I had even called Dick's on like Friday or Saturday and was told the sale started on Sunday, and today is only Thursday. If the sale was over, it sure was a short one!
i went back recently and all the clearance items were no longer 50 percent off the clearance price. they were being sold as is. the field and stream elite tech were no longer 17 and change they were actually 50 something still. so most items that i saw that were on clearance no longer have the additional discount. my guess is the sale that they told you about that started on Sunday were for different items...i saw a few, but was not impressed...e.g. certain clearance combos additional 25 percent off...

Sale was over 31, so sunday no sale, they should have taken care of those red tags right away but you can't bash a store because they are doing what any normal store would do if they forgot to remove clearance pricing. I've ran businesses and understand those situations.

I'm not trying to bash them, but when a store has a clearance rack with red tags clearly marking the price still on the showroom floor and I am in the store filling up my basket with items very clearly marked, one would think the store should be obligated to honor those in my face prices rather than tell me ooooops sorry, all those prices are now wrong and literally take the items away from a customer right then and there and roll the display off the show floor right in front of me.
The least the manager could have done was honor those prices, but he would not budge, and because of that I am not inclined to return to their store especially after finding out the products I wanted to see were only available online and for higher prices than I can get elsewhere. Dick's has turned me away for two reasons today and I'm not trying to bash them, only state what happened and my displeasure with it.
Unfortunately for us they are not obligated. But I understand what your saying and it definitely sucks, corporate America! Keep an eye out though cause I have a feeling they may do another sale like this or similar. GL!

Take it from a person who has been to a ton of DSG's over this sale (NY, PA, NC, NJ) ... they are notorious for doing this. That EXACT same braid was on sale in Yonkers and rang up "properly". My friend was at one close to home and he was in the store and watched as a bunch of people scrambled with price guns pulling things off the rack. They are either notorious for the "bait and switch" OR can't seem to get pricing straight EVER! It can be very frustrating BUT if you catch them at the right time it could be extremely beneficial.
I haggle with stuff not marked right and its good to know the.managers through there name out when u haggle u win ..my take on it like anywhere else if you have ppl on the clock it aint your fault the price is wrong.instead of walkin around in the store texting you should be doin your job.i have no sympathy for corporate america.just as do my job 110% i expect it from others if not no mercy
Its any companies job whether its dicks, bps, gander or whoever, if the sale is over, they should have repriced/removed those sale items either that night or first thing the next morning. In reality its that managers ass, he should have realized that job should have been done by sunday morning and not thursday. Thats when you know that person should not be a manager.

Nice. Any sales in the DSG in Illinois? Just wen to the local NJ DSG, nothing special. Only decent rods were the GL2's and Rage rods. Im probably gonna wait till their summer sale starts to buy a new rod.
They just have clearance specials but not 50% off clearance. This 25% discount I didnt even know until I checked out and Lady said they were giving customers the Employee discount
Is the employee discount still in effect? I might have to swing by DSG today after work.
I have no idea like mentioned wasnt aware of it til checkout so dont know, sorry.

I went Monday and bought a few Kastmasters. Checked out and didn't receive any discount. Oh well
DSG has Keitech baits bogo 50%
Bought 4 packs of swing impact fat in store ordered 6 packs online
Gander has all lines 25% off
Bought 6# Nanofil and 30# Smackdown
If you play it right, DSG has some good deals.
I picked up some of the Keithech Impacts as well. My big purchase was a new trolling motor. They let me use two $10 of $50 coupons and I had two $10 reward cards. They then gave me 10% off for signing up for credit card even though my wife already has one.
I also picked some new sneakers. They gave $30 towards a pair of shoes for donating two pair of old shoes. Then again two $10 off coupons and 10% off. $120 down to $60.
I can't explain it. I asked if it was ok and they went with it.
Deals like this keeps me fishing.
I fished with $2 rods and $12 bass rods. Quantum spinning reels and Excalibur silver thread line for many years. My PB 10lbs was caught on this set up.
There's deals out there for any budget to get you fishing.
Went to my local Dicks last night.
Keitech - buy one, get one 50% off
Havoc - $2 for everything
Arashi - Buy one get one free
Yamamoto baits - 20% off
Rapala - buy two, get one free
Plano - boxes were on sale, I forget the deal
Rods - buy any reel at retail price, rods are 50% off

The rod deal is it only in store?
Both stores here in the Woodbridge and Springfield, VA areas have pretty much nothing on sale. They do have that rod and reel offer, but that's it.
I picked up a few bags of senkos at $3.50 a pop.

My local store had a Core in stock this weekend that they have never had there before. Only a matter of time until that thing will go on sale, since they have already been discontinued.
both my local dicks sucks. neither one carries any lucky crafts anymore. i went on vacation a couple weeks ago and stopped at 3 different dicks looking for xcaliburs and they all carried plenty of LC

Wow!!!!! I missed the ball there. I know they are not the best but when your 18 and college is around the corner the would be great
If you are looking for the best prices than t a c k l e w a r e h o u s e . c o m is your best bet. Shipping for orders over 50$ is free and if you are a military veteran than you can get 10% off everything. They have incredible Black Friday sales and they just had a great Memorial Day sale as well. I've compared their prices to Bass Pro (which I love as well) and TW is usually at least one dollar cheaper per item on Norman Crankbaits. Its worth a look to save some money for sure. Take a look ant let me know what you think. Also, they appreciate their military veterans..... Always a good thing.

I am getting ready to resupply some of the senkos I am out of and did some math.....
DSG has buy 10 lures get 30% off. So 10 bags of senkos at $7.30 each, $73 with 30% off is $51, then a $10 off coupon, and finally I have one last $10 reward. That brings them down to $3.10 a bag. Bargain.... Who says senkos are expensive.....
Well here was the damage......
4 packs of 5in senkos
1 pack of 6in senkos
3 packs of Keitech swing impacts
1 pack of Keitech flash minnows
3 Mepps inline spinners
2 packs of fat ikas
1 pack of zoom lizards
All told, $55.

The online survey on the bottom of their receipts. The rewards were from a larger previous purchase.
