Questions about Piscifun Carbon X Spinning Reel - Carbon Frame and Rotor, Ultralight 5.1 OZ Spinning Fishing Reel, 5.2:1-6.2:1 High Speed Gear Ratio, 10+1 Shieled BB for Freshwater and Saltwater
Q:
Is this reel good for far casts? i know the piscifun flame spinning reel has even line lay. is this reel similar with line lay?
Answer: Yes, is suitable to do long casts but mostly depends on the type of line and the rod you’re using. Always fill up the spool for longer casts.
Answer: Bas
Q:
The reel came with 2 small metal washers ... don't have a clue where they go ??
Answer: They are used to adjust how the line lays on the spool.
Answer: They go on the spool some where for balance but I've never had to use them
Answer: They go behind the spool. Not sure why but they are for adjusting how your line lays in the spool. Adding more washers puts more line on the back of the spool.
Answer: These are drag washers overtime if you notice your drag slipping add a washer
Q:
What is the difference in models
Answer: How much line they will hold. Also the 1000 has a slower gear ratio. 5.2-1. The 2000 & 3000 are mostly the same size except the 3000 has a larger spool. Both of these models are 6.2-1 gear ratio.
Answer: Size. Line Capacity. I bought a 1000 model. That’s for panfish. Trout even. What you fish for tends to determine the model you need.
Q:
Where is this reel made ?
Answer: This reel is made in china.
Answer: It is made in China. In the same factory as daiwa. This is a Daiwa Tatula reel. Exact same frame and bearings. They made minimal changes to the rotor and spool but it's still basically the same reel.
Answer: China
Answer: China
Q:
Is the knob peened on or can it be unscrewed?
Answer: The knob can be switched out.
Answer: The knob IS NOT screwed in the handle.
Answer: There are no “knobs” on this reel. The reel handle can be removed, and so can the drag assembly.
Answer: There is a pug on the end I have not taken it out but it looks like it can unscrew
Answer: It's peened .
Q:
Im going for 40-50 stripers, is 33lb max drag not what i need ?
Answer: 33lbs of drag will land you 100lb fish. The drag system is meant to let fish take line instead of putting unneeded stresses on your knots and lines. Also, your drag should be set to about 1/4~1/3 if your lines breaking strength. Any higher than that and you’re just asking for lost fish.
Answer: I purchased the 3000, which is mainly used to catch red fish up to 30 lbs. I'd go with the 4000 model for stripers, and yes the 33 lb max drag should do quite well. This reel is a great product.
Answer: It is a good reel but the 4000 may be a bit on the light side. That said it would be fun to try with 20# braid. Mechanically the 33# of drag is more than enough.
Q:
1000 came with NO anti-reverse!? Anyone have one that did, certain models end with S not sure what that is for?
Answer: I have the 2000 and 3000 models and both anti-reverse switches work. I am assuming that you checked the switch on the bottom of the reel that switches from anti-reverse on and off. I think the 4000 model does not have the switch in order to keep salt water from entering the reel. If you have moved the switch from one position to the other and it still reels backward then you must have a defective reel. As far as the "S" on the model number..... that means the reel is equipped with a shallow spool. A good idea on the 1000.
Answer: It states that on their website. I was just about to order a 1000 because I absolutely love the Carbon X 2000.
Answer: Mine doesn’t have one either. Not sure why that is.
Q:
does this have a drain port?
Answer: No...The carbon x spinning reels do not have a drain port. The 2000 and 3000 model has an anti reverse switch on the bottom of the reel where water could possibly drain or enter but the 1000 and 4000 models do not.....a good miss as that usually the first thing to break on a spinning reel. Bait casting reels are all i've noticed with drain ports..
Answer: Sorry, the reel doesn't have a drain port.
Answer: Nope
Answer: No.
Q:
Does anyone have the dimensions for the 2000 and the 3000 model? (ie length 4.5" or 5.4")
Answer: These reels are comparable in size to most other spinning reels. If you like a 2000 in another maker you’ll like this reel. I have the 1000 and it is a very nice reel. Very lightweight and solid. I’m very happy with this reel.
Answer: I’ll check it when I get home later from work. Have to measure it, length and height to give you an idea how big it is. Love the size tho, not too big and not too small either.
Answer: From the tip of the drag button to the end of body is 4 1/2 inches. Hope this helps.
Q:
I ordered both the 2000 and 3000. What is supposed to be the difference. They look identical in reel size and spool size.
Answer: The capacity, the max drag and the retrieve per turn of the 2000 and 3000 are different.
Answer: Checking out Google at “difference in 2000 & 3000 fishing reels” should help.
Answer: 2000 a smaller real then the 3000
Answer: The 3000 should be larger
Q:
Do they not make or have the 3000 model in stock anymore?
Answer: The 3000 model will be available before the end of March.
Q:
3000 or 4000 for a 7ft medium rod, going for small salmon, 8-15lb range?
Answer: The 3000 did not hold for King Salmon on 8 foot rod. I would suggest get the Daiwa bg 3000 series instead..Ut has a better drag... 4000 series is a bit heavy... This carbon x is great in bass fishing but I would not recommend it on Kings.
Answer: Yeas either will work. I use mine to catch redfish and flounder in the same weight range. I have the 3000.
Answer: 2000 freshwater walleye
Answer: Either one depends on how much fight you want! Good luck!
Q:
Why does the reel move when i open the bail to cast my line? Shouldnt the reel not rotate at all? It rotates and gets in the way of my line.
Answer: You need to engage the bail lock!
Answer: You might have the anti-reverse off.
Q:
Is 4000 a good size for serf perch fishing?
Answer: I don't own the Pescifun 4000 spinning reel but own several other brands in that size. I would say that is about right for light weight surf fishing as you have additional strength if you hook up with a larger fish.
Answer: all depends what your fishing for. my big surf reel is a 6000, my small bait reel is a 3000.
Answer: Its more for a light tackle setup, for river or flats. I would go bigger on serf setup.
Q:
Is there a way to get an extra spool if I purchased this reel?
Answer: Yes, if you need to buy an extra spool. You could contact us.
Answer: Go on the Picifun website and ask there.
Q:
How much 10lb braid will fin on the 2000 reel?
Answer: Bad
Q:
Can this be used for left handed people? Can you switch what side the crank is on?
Answer: Yes you can switch it to either side.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does the bail click lock when opened and closed like lock into the open position
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does it come in a combo with a 7ft rod ?
Answer: This is only spinning reel, if you need the rod you could buy a suitable rod.
Q:
What do the sizes mean? And can i use the 300 for bass trout or karp
Answer: 3000 is the size and yes you can. I use my 4000 for striped bass fishing. Rugged reel!!
Answer: Yes 300 series should be good for bass or inshore salt water. Specks, redfish
Q:
What type of warranty does this reel have?
Answer: 1 year warranty. I have 4 of their reels and use them for saltwater inshore fishing. The oldest is now 3 years and still works great. Their customer service is very good also. I have the 4000 Carbon X and 3 of their Steel Feel 4000's--I prefer them, but they weigh a bit more, so it depends on what you are doing. The drag systems on both reels are great.
Answer: 1 year factory warranty if you want more info get ahold of Piscifun on Facebook. They’ll be glad to
Answer: Looks like 30 days no questions asked.... Otherwise, plenty of info on their website https://www.piscifun.com/pages/faq
Q:
Do tjey come in 5000 or 6000 other places
Answer: No
Q:
What size for walleye? 2000 or 3000?
Answer: 2000 will work fine. Honestly kinda depends on your planned setup. Pair it with your rod size. If you’re going with something 6’6” or under then a 2000 will feel better. Anything over that then a 3000 may just feel better. They actual performance of the reel won’t change except for the amount of line retrieved. The 3000 will be slightly faster, by 3” per revolution, but that’s it.
Answer: The 2000 should do just fine but the 3000 doesn’t weigh that much more and will handle much larger fish fish due to more drag.
Answer: I would go with the 2000. I have a 2000 and I can real in a 30 inch northern pike with 16 lbs line no problem.
Answer: Go with the 300 for the larger line capacity.
Q:
2000 or 3000 for salmon and steelhead?
Answer: Go for the 3000 for sure, the 2000 would be fine for bass, but not salmon.
Answer: Personally, I'd go with the 3000. That is what I use it for.
Q:
Will it work with large catfish?
Answer: If you are talking about catfish over 15-20 lbs, i would go with with the 4000 model which can double as a light surf casting reel. The down side is there is no shallow spool available for this model. The 3000 model will handle most fresh water fish and there are shallow spool spares available for finesse size lines.
Answer: This reel should be fine for large catfish. I wouldn’t go below a model 3000
Answer: I don’t know wht you mean with larger fish, but I caught stripers 5-10lb without the problem...I think this reel is perfect for bass, pike, waleyes, and fish like that...4000 size reel can make easier 15-20 pounds fish ...
Answer: I've landed a 35" shook with 10lb braid with no problem I give it ???????? hope this helps tight lines.
Q:
What size for sac a lait and bad rell do i need putting on 10' lews signature series pole ?
Answer: I think the smaller 1000 would be best for crappie (sac a lait ). Never heard the name bad rell. This reel should keep the weight down.
Answer: The 2000 is perfect for crappie fishing and holds the right amount of line for your 10’ rod.
Answer: First let me say that this is a great reel. It is very smooth and has a great drag. I don’t know how long the life span will be but it has performed flawlessly so far.
Answer: Hello, the 4000 size may be suitable for you.
Answer: the 1000 is perfect for Crappie :)
Q:
I am looking to use this reel for steelhead, how much 30lb braid do yall think i could fit on a 2000 series?
Answer: The 2000 held a little more than 100 yards. It didn't hold as much as I had hoped. I then ordered the 3000 and was surprised to find that the reel used the same frame but a different spool. It holds about an additional 40 yards. I like the reel but have not used it as much as I hoped yet. It seems well made and smooth.
Answer: I recommend going 400 this reel is super light, like super super light might as well get the bigger one and holds a full 300 yard spool with 30lb braid
Answer: I’ve got the 3000 and 4000 on the 3000 you can fit 260 yards of 20lb braid and the 4000 Is 25lb is 360 yards if that helps
Answer: I sugguset that you purchase a bigger size reel .
Q:
when will the 2000 be available
Answer: It would be re-stcock within 10 days.
Q:
Can I use a 30lb or 40lb braid and does anyone know how many yards it will hold?
Answer: The reel calls for no more than 15lb braided, and 150 yards with a mono leader. I can only speak for the 2000 model. Overall very smooth, balanced reel. Honestly it’s a 5 star review all the way!
Answer: I used a 30 lb braid, and got a little over 200 yards on the spool.
Answer: See on box that it holds 250 yards 15 lb test.
Q:
can you use 8 pound line on it?
Answer: You sure can. I use 8-10 on mine.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Absolutely.
Q:
What size would you recommend for panfish and maybe some light bass fishing?
Answer: The real itself is super light any size would be good honestly even a 4000
Answer: 2000. Its lite and has 20lbs of drag. I caught a 40" snook with it.
Q:
Can this real handle getting wet in the surf? I tend to wade out to cast.
Answer: I've used mine several times in the surf. I would say it can handle some light splashing and possibly even a very brief dunking, but probably not much more than that.
Answer: Can handle splashes I wouldn’t submerge this
Answer: I've only had the chance to use it in the surf once since it was purchased. It did get soaked a few times, so far so good.
Q:
Is it pronounced pissy fun or piscky fun?
Answer: From what I've learned on you tube, it is pronounced " Pee-cee-fun" . I thought people were mispronouncing it as they were saying "pissy" fun. This sounds like what happens after too many beers. I thought surely it was refering to piscatorian (fisherman) so I pronounced as "Pis-ski-fun".
Answer: I think Pisky fun
Answer: PEE-SEE FUN
Answer: Piscky
Q:
Is the carbon x 3000 handle reversible for right hand retrieve? Hey
Answer: Yes all of piscfun spinning reels are reversible I own 3. Love them. Just as smooth & Strong as Shimano stradic but half the cost.
Answer: Yes!
Q:
Does this reel have anti reverse? Do I need to rinse it if it gets water inside it?
Answer: Yes it does and you don’t have to rinse it, but it rinse all my reels after use.
Answer: Yes and it's sealed but it's a good habit to rinse it if fishing saltwater even though it's designed for saltwater.
Q:
Does the 3000 cone with the power knob or standard handle?
Answer: Only 4000 & 5000 have power knob, 3000 has standard handle
Answer: My 3000 came with the standard handle.
Answer: Power- reel snapped one week into use. Junk
Answer: Can't tell you, I only have the small ones, 500's I believe
Q:
Does the 3000 Model have manual or automatic Bail release?
Answer: It releases when you start to wind, but as a professional guide, I always advocate for manually closing the bail. If prolongs the life of any spinning reel. ---Capt. Dave inshoredream.com
Answer: Manual
Q:
Is the carbon x2000 available on amazon?
Answer: Yes, it will be available this month.
Q:
Has anyone uses in this the saltwater? Hows it holding up? My Piscifun "saltwater" rated baitcaster rusted out in a few months.
Answer: The carbon x is saltwater approved, sealed, I highly recommend them, my opinion you should still flush with fresh water, contact customer service on your baitcaster!
Answer: I am using this reel strictly for saltwater, so far so good. Retrieve rate is superb. It looks like the build quality is good as well. The round eva knob makes retrieving seamlessly easier. Will review this product once I use it long enough.
Q:
What size line are y'all using on the 3000X?
Answer: 12-15lb braid or 8-12lb Fluorocarbon
Answer: 12 lbs.
Answer: I use 20 lb braid!
Answer: 15# Braid.
Answer: 10lb braid.
Q:
Is 4000 a good size for serf perch fishing?
Answer: I don't own the Pescifun 4000 spinning reel but own several other brands in that size. I would say that is about right for light weight surf fishing as you have additional strength if you hook up with a larger fish.

Answer: Its more for a light tackle setup, for river or flats. I would go bigger on serf setup.
Q:
How well will this hould up to steelhead and kings do you think?
Answer: Held up very well catching around 50 Pike in Canada.
Q:
Has anyone tried the 1000 size for ice fishing?
Answer: Hi buyer, this size can be used for ice fishing, hope it could help you.
Q:
Can I use 50 lb braid on this with a 7ft medium or medium heavy pole?
Answer: U can it can handle the weight and it will hold a good amount of line 250yards+
Q:
how much does the carbon x spinning reel 1000 weigh?
Answer: The weight of the Carbon X spinning reel 1000 is 5.7 oz.
Q:
Where can i get spare spool for 4000 series?
Answer: Check out the website.
Q:
Basically what does 33lb max drag mean ?,
Answer: Haven’t tested it to 33lb max, but the drag is super smooth and super strong!
Answer: The amount of drag pressure that a reel can apply when you reel in the fish! You can set the drag to where the fish won’t break off your line but rather you can slowly wear him out!
Answer: It's the maximum about of force in pounds that it takes to strip line off the spinning reel when the drag is tightened all the way down.
Answer: If you hook a scale to the line and tighten the drag and then pull on the scale the drag pressure applied will measure 33# on the scale give or take a little!
Q:
So I have 2 32" ice fishing rods both are ultralight would the 1000 be good for those I would run a 5 pound fluorocarbon
Answer: Yes, the 1000 will be good for those.
Answer: Yes the 1000 would be perfect
Q:
Are these reels safe for saltwater?
Answer: I don't see why not.
Product reviews of Piscifun Carbon X Spinning Reel - Carbon Frame and Rotor, Ultralight 5.1 OZ Spinning Fishing Reel, 5.2:1-6.2:1 High Speed Gear Ratio, 10+1 Shieled BB for Freshwater and Saltwater
Thomas M Smigielski : Jig fishing
I am puzzled why it is so hard to flip the bail after casting/ dropping your lure, I like the weight, feel, but it is not as smooth as others. It should be made clear that the 500 does not have a on/off for the reverse mechanism. Overall good value for the price.
Texlibamb : Impressed, absolutely impressed!
Ordered the Carbon X because I wanted something light and durable, something that I could fish with all day with minimal fatigue. Piscifun did a great job with this reel for sure. I have it strapped on a medium/fast power rod and the entire combo is incredibly light. In the hand, you can hardly feel the weight of this reel, it's extremely comfortable and there is no doubt in my mind that you will love this reel as well. The Carbon X has an extremely smooth and powerful drag as well. I opted for the 2000 size because I generally prefer a smaller reel, usually do to weight. I will for sure be ordering the next size up when I order again. Bigger spools provide for better line management and quicker intake of line. When drop shotting I've noticed that the fish swim at the boat quite a bit so with the quicker gear ratio of this reel and the bigger spool, catching up to these fish should not be an issue. The spool is braid ready so there is no need to tie on mono or fluorocarbon backing when getting your reel setup, simply just tie the braid to the spool and start loading er up. Overall construction of this real is top notch, I've already taken it apart to oil it as i do with every reel i own whether used or new and it appears as if there aren't any cheap components that will let you down, great stuff here! The last thing i want to comment on is the appearance, man this thing looks sick! I lied, the last last thing i want to comment on is the price point, how in the world is it possible to get a $200 reel quality wise for under $80, it shouldn't be possible but it is and it would be wise to take advantage of that right now!
Amazon Customer : Wow!!
Wow, this reel has been impressive. Definitely living up to the hype, I'm loving it more and more every time I use it. You can tell right out of the box that this thing is solid, but light weight still. The smoothness of the drag and bearings is impressive, feeling like that of a much more expensive reel. The black/carbon color scheme in this reel is pretty slick also, it's not a crazy color scheme, but is nice and clean and smooth looking. I love using this reel in the 2000 size for smallmouth, especially drop shotting and other finesse techniques. I've also used it for walleye fishing and it has become my go to reel. I'd imagine it can handle about anything specie wise. I think I'll be ordering another soon, loving this reel for the price!
C Ekonomakis : The 3000 is not as big as I had hoped, but still performs like a champ
I was looking for something that would perform well in saltwater, but I did not want to buy one of those super heavy set-ups where you feel like your arm is going to fall off when using a top-water lure. When this came, I was initially worried since it is super light, and allot smaller than I thought it should be. I didn't want to go 4000 because of the larger handle on the reel.
I decided to reel some 20lb braid in smoke and place it on my new St. Croix Mojo Yak. They sure look great together with all of that beautiful and subtle black and purple. Then off for a trip to the Florida Skyway Fishing Pier to see if this combo could handle some spanish mackerel with ease. It tore them up with ease, and pulling them in was smooth as butter.
I picked this reel over the Penn Conflict due to the price differences and the drag, and I'm not disappointed. This reel will destroy anything in freshwater and can put up a fight with light to medium fish in saltwater. It's light enough that you can cast all day without any fatigue.
Eric Altena : Excellent reel for the price. Very smooth!
Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this reel. Impressively smooth and solid. Have caught several larger fish on it already and the drag is very nice as well as the overall operation. Excellent product for the money!
Tabascorules : Great reel for the money
I got to use this reel last week on a fishing trip. One of the best feeling reels that I have owned. I made the mistake of letting my wife use my pole. Now I have to buy her one for her rod. You wont be disappointed.

Richie Wilson : Amazing spinning reel!!!
I purchased the carbon x 2000, and it is by far the best finesse reel I have owned!!! This reel is just as good as any $200 spinning reel. I use it for drop shot mostly but I can easily throw just about any lure I have with it, even down to a micro hook and do some micro fishing. The carbon x will cover just about all of your fresh water fishing needs!!!!
John Gargani : This is the "Reel" deal!
a marvelous lightweight reel, perfectly suited for finesse techniques, weighing in at barely 6 ozs, and buttery smooth in it's handling....
costing a fraction of what "big name" reels sell for these days.
Brian Ondrejka : Another Home Run From Piscifun!
The wait is over! 7.8 oz. of pure bliss. It’s unreal that this reel is under $100. 11 ball bearings so it’s silky smooth, 6:2:1 gear ratio so picks up line quick for a spinning reel, and one of my favorite features, the CNC machined best spool-for both aesthetics and weight! If you’re looking for a lightweight, reliable, sexy spinning reel under $100, don’t look any farther than the Carbon X! Another home run from Piscifun!
Joseph Moyer : This is a must have in your arsenal!!!!
I bought this reel to replace my old finesse spinning reel. I could not be happier with this product. This reel has quickly become my staple and the first reel I grab in my boat. This will definitely not be the last reel I buy! It’s lightweight durability is like none other I have fished. It casts a country mile even with a seedless senko (which is what is on it most) and performs phenomenally in all the finesse arenas. The reel has an uncanny smoothness about it and is well worth more than it’s price point. If you are looking for a finesse reel then click purchase now! Piscifun makes fishing fun for sure— hence the name of the company!
Tho H. Luu : Reel handle came loose
I bought this one because I saw one bass pro fisherman one Youtube recommend it. One bad design. The reel handle does not have the shaft that goes to other side. Without the shaft the reel is lighter but there is a problem. Even though I have tightened the handle very hard, it can easily come loose when transporting. If something pushed against it in counterclockwise direction, it will come loose and fall off. It happened to me and I had to search the grass to find the handle. I am returning this one. I will stay with popular brand. One important thing is that the fisherman said a lot of good thing about it, but not the handle.
Amazon Customer : Amazing Reel
This reel is incredibly smooth and well built. I'm utilizing it as a multi-season item for both ice and open-water season. Definitely great value, and, I ended up purchasing another one, just a size up, for some of my heavier rods. You won't be disappointed with this purchase!
Jordan M. Dahl : Super impressed
I was blown away with how well this reel performed. I'd stack it up with some of the best reels on the market. I was instantly impressed with how good it looked once I unboxed it, not to mention how lightweight and smooth it is.
When I hit the water with the reel I was once again impressed with the casting ability. The larger spool allows the line to fall off the reel with very little resistance. The drag was butter smooth too. No problems whatsoever.
I've used this reel for about a week (5 guide trips) on mille lacs targeting elusive smallmouth bass, so the test is rather grusome. I haven't had any issues with it. Im so impressed that I've ordered 2 more to add to my arsenal.
Try it out, you wont regret it.
lp2767 : wow, only $69.00
I wasn't expecting a whole lot for 69 bucks...as i have spinning reels in the $200 price range. I was impressed with this reel right out of the box, then spooled it up with braid and started using it. This reel is absolutely amazing! It makes me a little mad that i have $150-$200 spinning reels that don't perform as well as this reel. Gave it a 4 for durability as i have only used it for a few months, but have not noticed any issues yet. I break my reels down right out of the box to lube them the way i like them, the guts of this reel has no parts or components that appear "cheaper" or less durable than any other reel i own.
Amazon Customer : Good reel catch a ton of fish
Pros: speed, smooth, quiet, powerful, lightweight.
Cons: line management, drag become losen on its own.
I caught more than 50 fish in less than a month with this reel from 0.5 to 6 lb fish, but I also lost two big fish because the drag became losen and I couldnt set the hook. Have to keep cheching on the drag occasionalky. Line managment can become problematic especialy in windy casting condition, line gets wraped over the top cover of the spool and get knoted on subsequent cast. This is bad when you are fishing schooling fish, school would move on by the time you cut the knot and reconnected you line back. I have learned to watch the spool before casting, if there are lines wrapping over spool cover, I unwind the line until no line over spool cap then rewind the line back.
Beside those two problems, this reel is as good as reels that are 3x more expensive.
Conclusion: I'm keeping this reel because I am catching a ton of fish but only lost two fish (so far, lol), lightweight and smoothness save my elbows and shoulders in the long run, and I am saving a ton of money with this reel.
Amazon Customer : Durability
Slick looking reel, light-weight, but the quality is not up to par. Durability is a weakness. The reel itself started squeaking and the bail was defective upon arriving and slowly got worse. Compared to my other gear with the same proper care, lasted and performed much better. Customer service was unable to help with the bail and very slow to respond.
Rob K. : Irresponsibly lightweight
Picked up the 1000 size on prime day for a steal and this reel far exceeded my expectations! I put it on a 5'6" St. Croix legend elite panfish series and it's easily the lightest combo I've ever held. Drag is smooth and the handle turns like butter. 10/10!
Roger S. : MADE IN USA
Great quality reel at a decent price. Large line roller on the bail is a good compliment to the smooth drag. I will be buying more of these reels in the future and recommend them to my closest fishing buddies!
matt phelps : Super Value
For the money this is one of the best reels I have ever had the pleasure to use. Smooth, high speed retrieve and wonderful drag. Good line capacity as well. Job well done. 1st reel of this make I have owned will not be the last!
Tabascorules : Great reel for the money
I got to use this reel last week on a fishing trip. One of the best feeling reels that I have owned. I made the mistake of letting my wife use my pole. Now I have to buy her one for her rod. You wont be disappointed.

Terry Teo : Great Value as long you....
Picifun has always been a company that gives us the cutting edge fishing tech at a great value. As long as you know buying it and think its comparable to a Daiwa or Shimano.
( Some ppl reviews gave it a poor rating because of it...duh :)
Best to open it up and five it a good greasing and oil before you use it for any type of salt water application. Ya I know its rated for salt use with the carbon x moniker. Had other older Picifun reels with the same claim but I forgot to clean it after fishing in San Diego and it was rusted thru. At least grease the screws that hold the frame because once that get rusted..you might as well use the reel as an egg beater.
As for the catch. You will find the reel tries its best to reel in your catch ( was catching Carp at Lake Mead ) you will feel that the reel was trying and the drag was decent but the flex was pronounce when you fight a big fish 5 to 8 pounds.
Still decent backup reel...and great value. Maybe one day Picifun will be as good or better that the top 2 Daiwa and Shimano...I am sure of it.
Meng : It's a less than $100 reel, what's there to complain about.
I'm a Quantum guy, but I also have lot of other reels mid range to flagships. Penns, Shimano (Stratic Ci4) etc. I'm a weekend warrior kind of guy, I dont care for tournaments or make this a way of life. I just enjoy fishing and have fished fresh and salt waters. Most of my reels I pick up second hand or when local outfitters liquidate or when they get clearances out (main source). But I've been seeing this reel online for a while now and thought let's see what the hype is all about.
First off, it's a very attractive spool. Quiet the machining was the first thing I noticed, I dont like the narling in the spool as it aesthetically looks aggressive but functionally is a line file. Closest thing to me getting spooled, are lake trout or sturgeon here in MN, so it'll be fine for all other targeted game fish here. Upon closer inspection of the spool some of those hardware look very cheap, like tin. I'm not expecting titanium or stainless steel but just pointing that out there for those that think this is worth much more than what its worth. Drag system is nice, and internal system of the reel is ok. Functionally, out of the box was a little stiff for me but nothing some reel oil and grease cant fix. I haven't found the time to really break it all down to get a better look at the bearings but they feel ok. But it feels good.
Casting was good on mono, floral, and braid, I cant complain. And bail functioned ok. Not too loose or not too stiff, I dont care or back reeling so I can't comment on that, but it does have that option. Line tie is not impressive but I dont plan on using it anyways.
6.2 to 1 ratio is what you'd expect out of most reels so nothing exciting there. Maybe I'm just used to seeing upper 5s and low 6s. I'm not a fan of how the handle is, seems like it'll break if you ever dropped it. It's thin but that's just my opinion. The grip feels standard like every other grip.
It handled fish just fine. Actually better than I expected for the price. Overall it's a good reel, definitely does not compare to any high end or flagship reels out there. Feels more like a starter reel for those looking into taking fishing more seriously. If I had to compare it to a reel on the market I'd say the Pflueger President. I'd buy a few of these anyday and used them more as a loaner reel when I take first timers, or friends out.
Final thoughts, for the price it's good, the feel was okay not the greatest. The looks at first glance is nice but dont expect the highest quality hardware. Overall it's a good reel.

Ronster : Afordable light weight reel
I like the light weight of the reel but It could be even lighter if a carbon fiber handle was used. The reel cast very well with my Calamus light power 6' 6" rod. I spooled the reel with 8 lb Gliss monotex and it will cast a 1/32 oz. lure an estimated 24 yards. Why is the shallow spool not included with the reel as do the Chinese sellers . albeit you will be waiting a long time for delivery. I use the reel for panfish, white bass and etc. I only use hair size diameter line and the shallow spool would be a plus.
All in all, this is to me the best reel for the price that a person will find.
Ron Bowers
Adam Parks : Nice Looks But Falls Short.
it a good reel for freshwater & Saltwater fishing.
Stay clear if you need support from Piscifun they will Ghost you if anything breaks.
UPDATE 4/21
I finally got in contact with them after few failed attempt's but in the end didn't take them up on the offer to get a new handle they seem to be a Chinese company with a base here in America that claims to be the parent org but is really just using it as a front, (sent me a email with 4 to 5 different fonts and varying text size so you guess on whats going on) I made my own handle in the end. I still Like the reel as its color scheme is nice and spool size is good but after a few larger fish this reel is starting to feel "Off".
Dar B : Purchased for a gift.
This was a gift for someone who is an experienced fisherman. The exact one he wanted. I’m rating it five stars because he researched them. He was happy with it.
Seth : Best spinning reel Ive’d owned!!
This carbon x is hands down the smoothest spinning reel I’ve ever laid my hands on! On top of that it feels like nothing in your hands with it only weighing 7.8 oz! The 2000 series is perfect for most game fish bass Walleye trout crappie bluegill. It’s 6:2:1 gear ratio makes it easy to catch up with fish when they make a hard run at you! Definetly gonna add more of these in my arsenal!

Ryland Morey : Works great, well built.
Couldn't be happier. Very smooth, well built, lightweight.
Drag setting is gradual like it should be. Its not "all or nothing" like with most reels.
Disassembled to inspect internals and check for grease. Looked great.
Matt Ketchum : I love this reel!
This is a fantastic reel. It is very light. Put this reel on a quality rod and you will be able to hold it all day no problem. It is very smooth and durable.
John Gargani : This is the "Reel" deal!
a marvelous lightweight reel, perfectly suited for finesse techniques, weighing in at barely 6 ozs, and buttery smooth in it's handling....
costing a fraction of what "big name" reels sell for these days.
RDSinSLP : Piscifun Carbon X 1000 vs. Diawa Tatula vs. Okuma Helios HSX20
Extremely LIGHT, what a great reel.
Was debating ordering the Diawa Tatula, but thought for the $$$ why not try the Carbon x 1000.
wow!
amazing quality, lightweight, smooth operation.
Not only does it compare to the Diawa Tatula, I believe it is a better reel.
Also picked up an Okuma Helios HSX20 this year, another carbon fiber reel, fantastic reel from Okuma.
The Piscifun Carbon X is very comparable, for me it is a toss up, the Okuma Helios vs Piscifun Carbon X.
For the $$$ I will be ordering 2 more Piscifun Carbon X.
Adam Parks : Nice Looks But Falls Short.

NB : Nice Reel
This is a nice light reel that's pretty smooth for the money. If the reel lasts, I'll give it an extra star for durability.
Amazon Customer : Don’t hesitate
I’ve been looking and reading up on this reel for months, just never pulled the trigger. I finally did and purchased a 1000 for my St. Croix Light Rod for white perch and other panfish here along the Chesapeake bay. Took it out the same night I received. Line lay is spectacular, reel is smooth, handle knob feels good with very little play, the reel is lightweight, put it through a torture test and caught several Hickory and American Shad and even a nice smallmouth on it and it handled it beautifully, drag operated without sticking and was fairly smooth. Good for your money.
dwcannon : Good Reel
Really like this reel. It has a great looks and feel. But for 3 times the money, I’ll stick with the Flame. The flame has better casting and performance and is an amazing reel for less than $30.
Matt Ketchum : I love this reel!
This is a fantastic reel. It is very light. Put this reel on a quality rod and you will be able to hold it all day no problem. It is very smooth and durable.
4 season : great reel
i like the reel. but what i dont like is this reel was returned.it was still full of line.also it was coverd with sand.at least you could do is clean it up.when i buy new item,it neds to be new.this should of ben sold as used.than you 4season.
stephen g. : Great quality!
Havent caught anything huge yet but from what ive experienced this is a close to premium feeling reel the only thing i dont like is that round handle thing, it works but not my thing, other then that its a great reel nd id highly suggest picking this thing up
Amazon Customer : Phenomenal reel
Purchased this reel based on several youtubers using this brand and praising its name. After using this reel for over 6 months now out on the salt waters of Baffin Bay, it has performed great.
One gripe. The screw holding the foam handle onto the reel fell off the first day out. Luckily it didn’t fall into the water since I was fishing off a pier. Little loctite and screwed it back on and no more problems.
Kristian Johnson : 10/10 would buy again
I bought this real about a month ago. I went with the 1000 series and paired it up with a st. croix ultra light. I fish a few times a week and fish tournaments pretty much every weekend using this setup primarily finesse fishing (always had a soft spot for light tackle). First impressions were that it was extremely light, it feels natural in your hand and it looks good too. The rod and reel together come in at about a half a lb. the reel is very smooth and casts well. I have caught multiple bass over 4lbs on this reel and the drag has handled it nicely. There has been a few occasions where the reel has been submerged in water, retrieving lures and keeping fish from getting hung up under the boat and it shows zero signs that any water has gotten in it. Still as smooth as the day I took it out of the Box. In conclusion I’m looking forward to adding a few more of these to my arsenal for they really seem to be the best reel for the Price. If you are considering buying one of these, just buy it already!
Jerod Hornberg : First thoughts
There was a ton of hype built up around this reel so when I first ordered it I couldn’t wait to get my palms on it. After patiently waiting for it to arrive in the mail it finally came today! The great thing about the shipping is that there was no cost of shipping it and it literally only took three or four days for it to arrive. I personally consider this a pretty quick and realistic time frame for this item to arrive. The unboxing of it was quite exciting probably because of all the hype that was built around this reel and waiting for it to arrive. It came packed very well in its own little bag inside the box with the handle wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. My initial thoughts on it are it has lived up to its reputation. It’s very light for the size, the build quality seems to be spectacular, and the drag seems to be buttery smooth which most people wouldn’t expect out of a reel that is in the sub $100 price range. It seems the Piscifun is doing it right by listening to the customers, building a product that seems to be reliable, at a very reasonable price, and they are doing all these things while maintaining great customer service. I really hope that this company blows up in a huge way and that they continue making a product that everyone that’s passionate about fishing can afford. So in closing if you are looking for a new reel I wouldn’t think twice about purchasing the Carbon X by Piscifun.
Filip : Gear broke down on 1st use / UPDATED
I would like to inform Piscifun and other fishermen of my experience with P carbon x 4000. Arrived fast, very light and smooth. The real issue happened when I hook my first fish (drift boat in South FL); immediately after few cranks started to 'skip' the gear and as you are turning the knob it was making a 'broken down cranking noise'; it didn't engage the drag although it was calibrated to do so. We were going for yellow tails and my other set up had penn 4500 so I had to switch to that one. I am REPLACING this unit through Amazon and will give piscifun another try b/c I want to believe it was just a faulty unit. I am using shimano stradic and penn regulary, daiwa bg for heavier setup and this is my first venture outside the 'brand' name reels. Will be happy to update this posting after the second one arrive and we test it little bit more. I do like the enormous drag but it has to perform all around....will keep this post open.
8/6/19
Updated post.
Received the new reel and so far it has been much better than the first one. I did try to use artificial bate in the Golf side FL without luck, the line (Suffix / ghost 25 lb) keep on getting tangled at casting light 1/4 oz lure and it was frustrating. Will not be using it for casting, for that purpose I'm using a smooth Shimano. Will test the reel this week again, live bait deep-sea fishing and update on the drag.
UPDATE: 8/17/19
Same issue as the first reel. The gear slips and makes a grinding noise. I lost my fish but I'm also returning the reel.
I wanted to like this reel and give Piscifun another try and it didn't work. The reel looks great but the performance is poor. Would not recommend due to reliability and performance issues.
Cassie Amadio : Big design flaw
Beware, there is a design flaw that allows fishing line to get caught in a plastic seam next to the line roller. The rest of the reel is just okay. I was unimpressed even at this price point. The Daiwa legalis is a much better reel at a lower price.
L. A. Gliba : Wow!
I bought the Carbon X as a replacement for my tired Mitchell 308 on my ultralight. I was extremely impressed with the fact it’s in a solid box and packaged in a velvet bag to ensure no damage.
When I first screwed in the direct drive handle it was apparent this was not an equal replacement. It was so much smoother than the Mitchell even when it was new, feels solid, but lighter at the same time. The construction of the reel is amazing, I have been using
Piscifun for over a year now from bait casters to the Venom 5000 spinning reel for salmon and have been amazed with the quality and craftsmanship that goes into each reel. The Carbon X is no exception, I would go as far to say they have put even more into this reel and kept it at an affordable price point. If your hesitant to try it; don’t be, this reel will compete with reels that are twice the cost and I believe outperform them. Check out the Piscifun Facebook page and look at the overall reviews as well as the Piscifun Fishing Group page. Your getting amazing customer service with the reels as well. They make it a point to acknowledge the opinion you’ve given them regarding their product be it good or bad(which is something that doesn’t happen with other more well known brands). I can honestly say you will not be disappointed with this reel.
Daniel : Lightweight workhorse for function not pleasure
A lot of reviews go nuts over this reel, and it's impressively light, true to spec for my 1000. It's it smooth? Well, smooth enough. Is it well-made? Definitely. If this were the first reel you ever bought, you'd be very happy
I bought this to see how light I could get my hiking gear. I like to catch dinner on backpacking trips. With this and a lightweight collapsible pole, I got under 10 oz, great for a full-size setup. I got my partner the same pole and a shimano sienna 1000, but I found myself using the shimano when I was the only one fishing. The extra 2.5 oz gets a very solid feeling reel, satiny smooth and confidence inspiring. It's difficult to quantitfy pleasure and contentment, but the carbon x has little of either. For it's price and weight, it's difficult to match, and it does the job well. If your don't mind a few more ounces, there are many reasonably light reels that are just as if not more competent but offer a better overall experience.
A final note on durability--a friend of mine stepped on it not too long ago. It was nonfunctional but I was able to bend everything back more or less, and it works fine. There are no cracks in the aluminum, carbon, or plastic pieces, so the materials quality is good.
