Md Get Together 2024

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

For those who haven't followed the MD Who's who thread closely, there was interest of doing a get together for the MD anglers. So I figured I'd start another thread to keep track of any interest on doing a get together, where and when.

I was given a suggestion for doing this in September (won't even attempt to have it Labor Day weekend) and holding it at Black Hills. Obviously, I'm open to suggestions on dates and locations and we'll try to accommodate the majority of the anglers.

So let's start with seeing who's interested. Please post if you are interested, what date(s) would work from you, whether you have a boat and any input on a location to hold the get together.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

I am in, I have a tourney on Black Hills on Sept 10th, I vote for the weekend of the 17-18.

Black Hills would work at as a venue but the fishing is very tough at that time of the year. I don't have a boat.

fishing user avatarKenLattimore reply :

I'm definitely interested in a get together. I'll follow up with some dates once I speak with the boss...lol! I don't have a boat either.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

My son and I would be interested. Black Hills on the 18th would be fine or any other location for that matter. No boat. Sundays are best for us due to working Saturdays.

fishing user avatardcfdpipeman reply :

Im in for either days.

-Peter

fishing user avatarMunkin reply :

I am in and will have an open spot on my boat.

Black Hills isn't tougher than any other time of the year in September.

Allen

fishing user avatarslaynbass365 reply :

I'd be in for this. Am only about 10 minutes away so either/any day works for me. No boat but wouldnt turn down an offer to be a rider in someone elses cool.gif

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Hey Peter, I'm assuming you'll have your boat? If so, looks like that would be boat #2 so far.

Looks like September 18th is fitting most people's schedule. Unfortunately, that weekend as a whole won't work for me (have a family commitment I can't break). If that works for the majority, then I say let's keep that date.

Anyone else interested, please feel free to add to the thread! Everyone is more than welcome!

fishing user avatardcfdpipeman reply :

Sean... what works for you.. I think it wouldn't be the same..

So shoot some dates

fishing user avatarFat Boy reply :

I'd like to join y'all too, so count me in. I don't have a boat, but my buddy has a crawdad, so he may want to come too. The only problem day for me is 9/24. It's National Hunting and Fishing Day, and the Rockville IWL has it's open house that day to celebrate, and I'm working there that day.

I agree you should be there. Any Sunday is good for me. If it is into October is even OK with me. Saturdays would be tricky.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Ok, I checked things out and the next free weekend I have would be the first weekend in October (the 2nd is a sunday which sounds like that would work best from what I'm seeing). I wish I could do an earlier date than that but I have my daughter every other weekend. The next open date for me would be the 16th. Does either of these dates work for everyone? If so, I'm in and will have my boat and a open spot as well.

fishing user avatarFat Boy reply :

I should be OK for October 2nd.

fishing user avatarKenLattimore reply :

I should be okay for this date. Just need to check if my wife is working.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Got word today that Hellbenderman is interested in the get together as well. Hopefully, he can pop on to confirm. If you are able to confirm, let us know if you'll be bringing a boat and if you have any available seats.

October 2 or 16 OK with us. Thanks for taking the time and interest to put this thing together.

Do we want to get a pavilion? Or, just get on the water and fish?

From what I've heard, reserving a pavilion is on the expensive side at black hills. I did some checking on line and see there are several that are open (5 actually), but there was no pricing information that I found (doing a quick search). If we want to do a cookout after hitting the water (which is something we did with the PA get together I was involved in a few years back), we could go grab one of the non-reserved ones (which would be a cheaper route).

I'll see if I can pop in to the visitors center soon to see what the rates are, if that's an option we want to explore.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

Glad things are coming together for the meet. :) I would be willing to help with any funds necessary for food, pavilion, etc.

fishing user avatarMunkin reply :

I am open to any dates unless I get behind on my school work.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

Just checking in to see if anything new has happened. Hope things are still coming together. We haven't been fishing much...so no posting.

fishing user avatarFat Boy reply :

Mabye it's not too bad of a price if everyone pitches in. I'd be willing to. Sean, did you find anything out?

Sorry for the delay in posting! Things were a little crazy at work and was on vacation too so I hadn't been able to check. I'm going to make it over to talk to someone either today or tomorrow so I'll post the information I get ASAP!

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

I am back in town from an oversea business trip, and I am definately interested going. I am free first week of Oct. then gotta fly out again.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

Just checking into see if anything new has happened. Looks like I will be working until 10:00PM on October 1. I assume the get together will be on October 2. We will need fairly detailed directions to the spot where everybody will be gathering. I am pretty sure we could find the park but beyond that I'm not sure. We have never been to Black Hills. Any help would be appreciated. Also I would still be intersted in providing any help with any finds needed for the get together. If the thing gets postponed or cancelled that would be disappointing but understandable too. As for fishing, my guess is we would be shore fishing.

fishing user avatarHellbenderman reply :

Going to Gaston 28-2, tournament on the 8th. I couldn't do it until mid-Oct. Perfect time at BH...hehehe.

I popped today at lunch to find the visitor's center is only open from 12-5 on the weekends. :( I'm planning on heading over there this weekend to get all the info.

I can definitely post directions. The goal would be to have enough boats for everyone to be able off the shore.

Thanks for the heads up Chris.

So the head count I have right now is 12. 5 with boats and 7 without. With Hellbenderman not able to make it on the 2nd, that drops the count, for that day to 11 and down a boat too. So the question is, do we keep the same date (where the majority would definitely fall in the non-boater section) or move it to mid-october to help even out the numbers so everyone can has the opportunity to fish out of a boat? Or do move it to spring time?

As I mentioned before, this get together is open to anyone. If you're interested in joining us, please let us know!

fishing user avatarMunkin reply :

Still in but I need to get a flat tire fixed on my boat trailer first.

For those who have never fished Black Hills here are my top ten lures overall fishing there the past 6 years for bass in no particular order.

1. Kinami senko 4" Natural shad

2. Fluke white or shad colored

3. Baby brush hog green pumkin

4. Shakeyhead worm GP or watermelon

5. 5/16oz GP Eakins style jig with GP 3" Berkley chigger craw trailer

6. Small drop shot worm/shad

7. Double nickel willow shad colored spinnerbait

8. RC 1.5 silent crankbait

9. Pop-R

10. 3/4oz Football jig (works around bridge)

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

I am up to whatever you guys decide, and willing to pitch in gas money, etc.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Ok, finally some success on getting to the visitor's center to get the information on the pavilion. So here's what I found out:

There's 2 size pavilions at Black Hills (large and small). The small ones hold a maximum of 40 people (which at current count what we'd get). There is a $125 non-refundable deposit plus a $150 refundable deposit as well. $275 would be due at the time the reservation is made. There are 6 picnic tables and 1 grill at the small pavilions.

Other information: The maximum capacity counts are enforced so we can only can only reserve a pavilion for that amount or we'd have to upgrade to the larger one which is more expensive. Once the reservation is made, the fee is non-refundable. It is rain or shine. A $48 fee is required for all reservation changes (at least 1 week in advance). No alcohol of any kind is permitted at the park shelter. Large amounts of garbage must be taken completely out of the park for proper disposal. All cars must park in the designated parking spaces (no parking in the grass). Charcoal fires only, no gas grills and no personal grills. Gas grills, wood burning fires and generators are prohibited. Two thirds of the participants must be from Montgomery or Prince George's counties (will look into this more if we decide to do this). I was also given the name of the park manager (who's an avid fisherman as well) to see about parking the boats in the parking lot at the pavilion once we're done fishing.

With the current count at 12, money needed per person would be $22.92 to rent the pavilion. $12.50 per person would be refunded as long as we met the criteria for the refund.

Looks like I covered all the info I received. Let me know what everyone thinks.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

For the kind of money they are asking for and potentially losing the deposit due to rain I do not see it being worth it...

All sounds good to me. Hope you are counting me and my son. Count me in for any funds for the pavilion. If we fish from a boat that's OK too but not necessary. As for the date...any Sunday is good for us. Again thanks for taking the time and effort to get things organized.

Not sure my son and I can help with the residence thing. We're not even from the right state. We could miss the get-togther especially if we hurt your residence count.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Here's the current head count, boat status and a guess on what county everyone is from. Obviously, please correct me if I'm wrong!

basser89 (boat) - Washington county

BrianinMD - Montgomery county

KenLattimore - Montgomery county

dcfpipeman (boat) - Frederick county

Munkin (boat) - Washington county

Slaynbass365 - Montgomery county

Fat Boy (+1) - Frederick county

WV (and son) - Jefferson county (WV)

Lee.MD - Howard county

Hellbenderman (boat) - Montgomery county

So IF my initial guess is correct, to reserve a pavilion, we're way short on Montgomery and PG county residents. This doesn't mean that we can't still do the get together and use a pavilion that is not reserved. I would probably still need to check in with the park manager on towing the boats into the parking lots for the pavilions just to let him know.

As mentioned before, Hellbenderman can't do the 2nd, so I still need everyone's feedback on when to hold the event.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

If it is not the 2nd, next time for me would be the 16th

fishing user avatarwv reply :

The 16th would be OK for us. Once again thanks for the effort putting the meeting together. :)

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

I am ok with the 16th, but it is going to be tough fishing that late in Oct.

fishing user avatarslaynbass365 reply :

Hey guys, good to see things are coming together for the meet. I am still in....and any date will work for me. My boat status has not changed, and I am still looking to be a rider- if possible.

I like the idea of finding a vacant pavillion, save the money and avoid losing the deposit. There's almost always empty areas there, and if nothing else I am sure most of us would be fine with just meeting out on the water!

fishing user avatarKenLattimore reply :

Hey guys, I might not be able to make it as my wife works ecery other weekend and those are the weekends. I'll check into babysitting options, but unfortunately, I mught be sitting htis one out. Hopefully I can work something out!

fishing user avatarwv reply :

I'm guessing this weekend is off. Would it be better for everyone to just put the get-together off until the spring? Looks like some people have conflicts for a variety of reasons and some have concerns about the fishing that late. Plus it would give everyone a long time to make plans. We have never been to Black Hills so we're not sure how good the fishing would be in the spring either. I am open to any time and any place that suits everyone else.

fishing user avatarslaynbass365 reply :

Why not have two get-togethers?

One oct 2011, and one spring 2012. I'm sure either way it is going to be hard to get everyone's schedules to align for one day whether it be fall or spring.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

wv, my understanding was the date was being changed to the 16th.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it on that date now. If everyone still wants to get together on that date, I'll still contact the park manager to give him the heads up the get together is going on as well as getting permission to park the boats in the parking lot in the park (when using the pavilion. I can still post the directions to get the park and where to meet up in the park as well.

I apologize for the short notice for me backing out.

fishing user avatarFat Boy reply :

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. My work has been busy this time of year and my free time this past two weeks has been pretty much consumed by resting up for work the next day, so I haven't been on the PC much. I've been checking the posts briefly to keep up though.

Any other weekends good for you Sean, everyone?

Oh yeah, before I forget, I live in Montgomery County, so if the residency is an issue, that helps a little. I can throw a rock and hit Frederick County (well, assuming my arm is still strong as it used to be) :D

I'm not worried about the fishing in BH in October or even November. The lake traffic tens to settle down a bit. Fall is generally good, and even on cold front days the bass still seem to hit. Weather could be an issue though, but the bass should be willing.

I could be in for a spring trip too.

Here's another thought, what about meeting up at a restaurant or something, maybe breakfast before fishing or dinner afterwards rather than renting a pavilion? I was thinking maybe Golden Corral or something cheap like that, or Buffalo Wild Wings maybe?

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

If all goes well I will have my new boat ready by the 16th, picked up a 2000 Ranger 520vx Comanche yesterday. Only issue is the two small marker lights on the front of the trailer fenders are out. Previously owner said they are intermittent. So much rain not sure when I can look at them. If anyone knows a decent inspection place near Damascus please let me know. May just take it in and let them fix them and inspect it.

Trailer wiring is stone simple. If you'd like, I can take a look at it for you/with you...I'm over in Germantown. The rain doesnt bother me much unless its pouring. As far as an inspector goes, I have no idea.

I think it would be better if you were there since you seem to to know most people either directltly or in-directly. I've said before we are open to any Sunday dates and places. As for directions...I've been looking at maps and it would be best for us to go 340 to Brunswick and got to 15 and take 28 South from Point of Rocks. I don't like interstate travel. Any directions from 28 to the park would be good. Better would be directions in the park itself. I can sympethize with any conflicts especially work-related. Since January we have been short 1 or 2 employes and somtimes 3. I've beenw roking 6 days most of the year. If the store was open on Sunday...it may have been 7 days. ;) When Sunday comes I ususlly am pretty tired. I still think a get-together would be a good idea...at a fishing spot or a restaurant. We haven't fished much past Labor Day at all. I n fact I used to fish a great deal as a teenager and basically quit for about 40 years. When my son got about 12 years old fishing became a way to spend time together. Fishing was good...catching fish was a bonus for us. We like to fish together but are by no means real knowledgeble about fishing and a get-togther would a learning experience for us. Thanks again for taking the time and making the effort.

From 28 its very simple. Make a left onto Germantown Rd (rt 118), and follow it all the way to the end and make a left onto N. Frederick Ave (rt 355). After a few miles you make a left onto West Old Baltimore Rd, and a little bit down that road you make a left into the park. The boat launch is right off the main park road I believe, off to the right after you pass the park office.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

Sorry slaynbass365, I did not see your post until I was over at the boat. I took a quick look but could not figure out it, unfortunately it started raining so did not have much time anyway. I decided to take it to Maryland Offshore, there is a guy there my club highly recommends. They will fix the lights, give it a look over and take it for the inspection. Under a time crunch to get the previous owner his tags back so this is my best option right now.

WV, not to confuse things but if you come down 28 there is a right turn onto 117 if you take that it will run you right into the lake. When you get to a stop sign at a T intersection take a left this is 121. You will pass over the lake, about 3 miles up there is a set of S turns with Old Baltimore RD in the middle (its right after a big set of open fields on your right. Take the right onto Old Baltimore RD and the park entrance is on your right. The boat ramp is the first right after pass by the little building in the middle of the road.

lol I dont think the lake will be too rough on you....its taking it out on the river for the first time where it gets tricky.

Glad to hear you got it all worked out tho, and if you ever want a partner to get on the water with- let me know, i'm right down the street.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

It won't be rough, just won't be up to par on boat control and positioning since I am not used to running the front of the boat. But will be a good place to get an idea before going to the river for the first time.

Got the inspection done, off to the DMV at lunch today to hopefully get it registered and get tags. Everything should be in order but you never know going there. Then just wait for the DNR to send me the boat registration.

I will get in touch when I am going out I am sure we will figure something out. Hopefully the weather is good on the 16th and we can all finally meet.

i'm hoping the weather on the 16th will be good! Weather. com shows both the 14th and 15th to be sunny and 65...doesnt show the 16th yet but im hoping it's the same. I'll probably be out either way, I've been trying to go out a little every day or at least 5-6 days a week to various spots- rain or shine.

Had a doctors appointment at 8am today, woke up early and got to the water at 6:30 and got a solid hour in.

Hoping the registration and tags goes smoothly for you today.

I can't make it on the 16th, unless I get home early enough to meet up with everyone later in the afternoon. But, spending time with her may buy me future fishing time...

If it's a different day, then I'll make sure to free up time to make it.

I need to retract my last statement. If we do it on the 16th, then I can make it. I got my weekends mixed up. I think that I should be OK any weekend after that too.

fishing user avatarHellbenderman reply :

My wife says I can go. What exactly are we going to do? Can we cook weenies in the parking lot?

fishing user avatarslaynbass365 reply :

Since the 16th is quickly approaching (this coming weekend), can we get a final head-count, time, etc....

and

Will us non-boaters be paired with a boater, or be fishing from shore?

fishing user avatar301-fisherman reply :

Sorry Have not wrote or checked back in a while but are we still meeting at Black Hills? I have been there every day the past week or two and fishing has been ROUGH to say the least

fishing user avatarJigMe reply :

are we still going, if not, I am going to OC this weekend for some off shore fishing?

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

Plans are to still do it, just need to confirm what time to meet and once we get there who is fishing with who.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

As far as I know my son and I can be there this Sunday. If we fish from shore that is OK. As for time...mid-morning would be good for us. I am figuring at least an hour's travel not counting any time lost due to getting lost. I'm guessing each person brings their own food? We are open to any ideas, times, etc. I think with the directions that Brian gave us that we can find the boat ramp. I was hoping to get there this past weekend but it didn't happen. As for fishing...we don't catch fish as much as we catch fish...so not expecting much in that regard.

fishing user avatarbasser89 reply :

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, between work and my daughter, time hasn't left much time for me. <_< As I mentioned before. I won't be able to make it this weekend. Rather than keep pushing it out just for one person, I say everyone keeps the date. Sounds to me that there should be enough boats for everyone to fish off the bank. I will say, shore fishing could be slow but there's still the potential for some decent bass from shore. I made it out for a lunch time outing on friday and managed to get a 4lb 1oz treat on a buzzbait.

As for time, wv requested a mid-morning meet up. How does 9 sound to everyone that can make it? Do a meet up at the boat ramp and everyone can pair up with boaters and head out for some fishing. Let me know if you want to snag an empty pavilion to do a cookout. I'll give the park manager the heads up. If you are doing a cookout, let's post a list of who's bringing what, that way everyone isn't bringing hotdogs. LOL!

We'll do another get together in the spring, I'll definitely be in for that one!

Will be there at 9 also. Driving either a Toyota Tundra or a Scion tC...But I will most likely be outside by the ramp with a black jacket and black backpack.

Brian- Are you part of a club? I'm looking to join one here in this area soon/asap lol. Any info on yours, or any that you know of would be great.

Thanks. Got your message. We'll be in a white Pontiac Aztek. Put us down for the drinks. Just let me know any preferences...like diet. iced tea, soda, water, etc....cans, 2-liters, bottles...not sure about recycling, trash rules for the park. We'll leave Martinsburg around 7:00AM to get there at 9:00AM. I'll check back in to see who brings what and I'll adjust what I bring. If we boat fish...we just have two cheap flourescent vests that don't fit too well. Hope we get decent weather. Thanks again Basser89 for all your effort and I'm sorry you cannot make it but family should come first.

slaynbass365, I am part of a club called Fish On Bass Anglers, www.fishonbassanglers.com. We are based out of the Germantown area. We do tourney's at Black Hills, lower Potomac, Lake Anna, Lake Gaston, Deep Creek, Conowingo, and Smith Mountain (some years). We just had our last tourney of this year, but the November meeting starts discussions on next year. The meetings are always the first Wednesday of the month. If you are interested let me know if you have any questions, would suggest coming to the meeting to get used to how things work. It is a great group of guys, I have learned a lot over the last two years.

I'm about 195 so maybe a bit too heavy? I am still looking for a boat to ride in tho.

Definitely would make it a fun little trip if we had a pot, like $5 per person, biggest fish takes it.

Anyways, I'm open to whatever.

I hope everyone has fun out there and maybe catch a bass or two! Please post some pics.

Good luck!

Count me as 2 with my son coming. Non-boaters. If you have two boats and two non-boaters...we can fish from shore and you 4 can pair up in the boats.

If nothing else, they do rent boats there. It's like $7 for 2 hours, and they have a cheaper option for longer times. Theyre essentially just aluminum john-boats set up row-boat style but they'll get you of the shore!

I also think we are still waiting on confirmation from Lee on whether he will be attending or going to OC lol

LOL I think wv and his son are the only two looking for a ride now. As i've said before, I will put them in a rental boat if nothing else so they can fish together. If anyone has a spare trolling motor we can strap it to the rental and they'll be golden!

I'm really looking forward to sunday, meeting you all and getting to ride along with Brian and get to know him and more about his club!

HAHA im not worried about it, im sure it'll be fine. I've been in all sorts of boats and canoes on lakes and rivers so i've experienced all sorts of control issues lol. I'm more looking forward to the company and learning more about the club since it is very local for me.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

Thanks for the offer of the rental. We mostly fish from shore and are comfortable with it. If it works out and there is an open boat then we can go from there. I'm guessing if there is only 4/5 of us...no need to bring any food, etc except what you want your self. It will be nice to meet some people that enjoy fishing and know more about it than we do. We've never been to Black Hills and have no expectations of catching fish since that is what we mostly do anyways. We've met some people here and there and have always enjoyed talking with them and exchanging info, etc. I just hope all this rain, etc. doesn't mess things up this weekend.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

I wish we would have a day or two of stable weather before fishing here but it won't be to bad. The hardest time to fish BH is when the water surface is glass like, we will have a breeze so it should be fine.

Hopefully we can get everyone in boats, just not sure how many people and boats we will have.

I will try to get there a little early, will be the first time I have to go pick up my boat and be somewhere so hopefully will go okay.

I popped over to check out the lake this morning before rolling in to work. Looks like the lake is back up a foot or two after it finally made it back to "normal pool" just the other day. The water color wasn't bad but the section I checked out is back away from any of the creeks that come in to the lake. I bet the backwash area is chocolate milk after the pounding we took last evening. I'd expect the stick ups area will get that color soon, if its not already, and that's a shame cause that's a fun area to fish IMO.

Good luck with the fishing sunday but most important, have fun getting to meet each other!

fishing user avatarwv reply :

I'm gonna get home tomorrow around 5:00PM after working two straight 6-day/50 hour work weeks. My concern now is the rain and what it might do to the get-together. We're looking at getting up at 6:00AM to make about a 60 mile drive. Could somebody give me a heads-up on what they think it will be like Sunday? I'm gonna decide on making the trip about 6:00PM Saturday. Thanks for any help.

My 8yr may come? dying to go fishing..

Do we have a food list or just BYO-Everything..

Hope everyone had a good summer..

In response to the previous post, It is BYO stuff. I'll probably pack a few bottles of water and a sandwich. No idea how long we will be there but I think that should suffice.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

Stopped by the ramp, water is at spring levels about 1 to 1.5 feet below the top of the docks. This is not bad at all, the water at the water was cloudy though. Shouldn't be an issue, may actually help since the bass won't be as skittish as normal.

fishing user avatardcfdpipeman reply :

I'm in!

Got the boat batteries on charger - x-fingers

I may have an extra seat if my 8yr daughter doesn't come.

She really wants to go but leaving at 7:30am always throws in the "maybe"....

Are we meeting at 9am in a certain spot?

Im coming with a Tracker Bass Boat hooked up to a Black Honda Ridgeline.

Guarentee that there isn't another clone...

Btw- first time putting this boat in at Black Hills.. Anything I need to know? Do? Be careful of?

Hello dcfdpipeman, At the ramp. Pay your ramp fee next to the bulletin board. Make sure you have all your safety stuff. They will stop and inspect. Is anyone going with me? My wife may show up about 2-3 for a cruise and fish. Due to conditions, and I am sorry to disappoint, but I will not be fishing naked tomorrow.

fishing user avatarFat Boy reply :

Hi everyone. Sorry but I can't make it after all tomorrow. My daughters college fast pitch team is having a tournament tomorrow, and this will be her first time pitching in a game since she had back surgery. It was cancelled from 10/2 and rescheduled for this weekend. I didn't know until Thursday. I hope y'all tear them up though, catch a few for me. If we have another GTG, I'd love to meet y'all.

fishing user avatarBrianinMD reply :

dcfdpipeman, there is not a lot of hazards at BH, going on trolling motor only helps that, only thing around is sunken wood. Otherwise, as hellbenderman said make sure to have all of your safety stuff since there is a good chance you will be checked.

I will try to be there a little early, will go ahead and put in and just goof around the ramp area until others show. If you see a black Nissan Titan and a red Ranger trailer/boat that is Nick and me.

One thing I forgot to mention earlier, when I was there today around 10am there was 0 boats on the water. Can't remember the last time there were no boats there on a saturday.

I have Brian's number and he has mine. I hardly ever turn my phone on but will check text messages. My name is Jerry and my son's name is Dean. Hopefully we can meet up with everyone later on this year or next spring. We would like to try the Dickerson warm-water thing and maybe some will be there this winter. I'd be down to hook up on sunday again. If anyone else is taking their boat out on sunday, i'll gladly join (Brian, Chris, etc). If not there's plenty of other weekends, just gotta be okay with a little chilly weather lol. Supposed to be 60ish degrees but other than that- should be good.

fishing user avatarwv reply :

Good to see you all had a good time meeting up this past weekend. Hopefully things will be better if another meeting happens in the spring. I was pretty tired, it was kind of a long trip, my son's an only child and doesn't have too many "real" friends and I didn't have the heart to go and get him when he was going to spend the night at a friend's house and I didn't really want to go by myself. Once again thanks for all the offers of a boat ride. My son can't tie a knot and if we fished separately somebody would have had to help him and that wouldn't have been right for them to have to watch out for him and not fish. If we were together I can watch out for him...I'm used to tying knots, etc for him. That was a reson to meet some people to help us learn some about fishing and how to be better fishermen. Thanks again and sorry we missed it.

fishing user avatarslaynbass365 reply :

Peter,

Are you still planning on heading out there tomorrow (sunday)?

I went out the morning after the rain stopped this past week and the water was VERY cloudy. Managed a few in the overflow side pond thing that you pass by as you come to the ramp.

Went back this morning and the water is CLEAR. At around 8am the water was very flat, around 12 when i left there was a little more movement on the water but it was definitely a good day to be out on a boat. If you go out tomorrow, I hope its the same. I should be there fishing around the ramp at some point tomorrow morning.
