So I searched and looked and didn't see a thread where we can talk about everything ohio.
I want to dedicate this tread to that to help keep track of good fishing areas.
I will say that in Cleveland I like the mouth of the cuyahoga and the Wendy park area. Good bass by the rocks!
Feel free to chime in, ask questions or just bs with others from ohio!
Hit up the cuyahoga under valley view bridge for about an hour. Landed 2 smallies around 15", 1 at 11", a rock bass around 12" and a small panfish.
Really was a good day there compared to others I've spent there. Now to just hook the larger ones! I've seen them, just haven't gotten them out of the water yet.
Despite living in the middle of the northern part of our state I don't get to the big lake (erie that is) I only own a very old john boat for tiny water
I shore fish the resivors and pits pretty often. Bass are still split between being on the beds and just finishing. lots of great places to fish is you are patient and friendly enough to ask permission from local owners.
Sadly not too many of my friends fish: loads of golfers and lord knows what but few get up on rainy mornings to stand in the mud and hope for a fish you intend to let right back into the water
Yeah I do t have a boat yet either. Just fish off shore and rock walls.
That was our first trip I to Lake Erie. Normally we go to smaller inland lakes. There is Knox lake in Berlin that I've head good things about. That will be in a few weeks.
Where you located at?
I live near Fremont, but do not know about Knox lake
a massive head cold has kept in home most of the week. my son has travel baseball and that is the only reason I am leaving the house at all. hard to believe one guy can make that much snot LOL
darn cold here too. I am not used to 58 as high in June.
My brother lives on a lake in Angola In and said the gills are biting like crazy right now and is taking some really big fish for the table
I sure would not turn my nose up to a plate of those
if you are heading west toward me and want a cranky 40 something to fish with, drop me a note
We can deffinitly set something up. Sunday mornings are my best bet and if you have some good spots im up for it. Knox lake I've heard some great bass have been pulled from there. It's about a hour and forty minutes away from me.
The weather is being a little strange. I'm hoping it warms up for Sunday!!
I hear ya in the sick part. I feel like I am gettin an ear infection for some reason. I don't even know the last time I did. I just hope it's gone by my trip Thursday!
Weather sure is weird: the north coast forecast was for a 20% chance of rain yesterday and a high of 75. It topped out here at 59 and rained. thats not a small miss
the cold front pushed the bass off the beds or the ones done farther off anyway. I could not buy a bite last time out from shore. days before they were crushing the yum crawl so bad that two girls nearly swallowed the jig completely
some Sundays work for me too but not this weekend: I teach high school and still have graduation parties to attend.
Yeah yesterday was no good for me either. I still tried tho!
The next two or three will be a no go for me. But after that I think another trip will be due! Maybe I can learn a thing or two
Not to good of a day, to many people and boats where we were.
I had a few but two got off right as they were gonna come out of the water.
This is the only one I actually pulled.
hit the Castalia state pond with all the timber stands this morning: Near Sandusky if you are not familiar. I was dragging two-three pounders out of the grass and wood until about 9 or so then could not find another bite/ My little john boat is perfect for that body but my old cheapy trolling motor can not handle the weed mats for crud
those fish are so adapt to living there that they all seem to know to drill themselves into the weeds as soon as they are hooked. I had to go in to the brush after about half the fish but loads of fun
Im sorta Jealous of that lol. I need to come out there! I didnt measure or weight mine so im unsure of that. Although I know it wasnt a to much.
you can shore fish that pond but to get to the timber you need to drag along a flat bottom and trolling motor. too many tight spots that would prevent a rower
its fun there for sure. The state has a slot limit to 15 inches which normally means a good number of small fish to be had but yesterday I only caught one smaller fish
I wish I was more sound with crank baits as I doubt those fish see many hard baits and it could be a killer
you do need to be super patient as you can look at ten lay downs three will have water no deeper than a foot or so max and not generally be worth casting to. The next group will look exactly the same but have one end or side that the water is 3-5 feet deep on and there is a stack of bass sitting below.
I wish I had a buck for every bad looking log I ran up on to rest against to fish other timber only to see the bass scatter off to where I should have been sitting LOL
conditions shift through the years there so its tough to construct your own little map of good logs verses the ones to sit off of
Yeah sound like a good place! I will be visiting a lot of inland lakes this year. I just wish I had more time to do it and that some where closer. lol everything seems to be at least and hour away. And ten those are all boater happy places.
I'll find that "spot" one day! Right now it's the river by my work. I'm learning it quickly but the rain makes it harder to get there with the muddy slopes.
It's all about learning where, when and how to fish. I'm trying to keep track of everything. I think I'll start a log book.
Leaving or Wisconsin tonight!! Hoping to catch some nice bass up there!
good luck
Thanks I'm about 2 hours from location and being up for 24hrs. And I think we are gonna go right to a lake lol
Had a blast up in Wisconsin, wish I had more time!
Caught some 1/2#er largemouths and a few other small fish. I did get my biggest catch while I was in the Wisconsin river, it was a 35" 9# (I my scales right) muskie.
nice muskie, Leesville in eastern Ohio has some nice ones as does a couple of the bigger central area lakes (names escape me as I don't muskie fish)
I was at my brother's house in Angola In. this weekend. He lives on Turkey lake which is a water ski haven. I took a large number of small fish in the island area in front of his place but nothing close to a keeper. I had my son out in the john boat, he was fishing a jointed rapula and I had a t-rig worm made by a local company that I like a great deal. I was catching fish pretty steady and my boy just one. He demanded that I switch rods with him. I picked up three fish in about five minutes then he asked to go back in.
He is just a little short on patients yet to listen to dad's advice on how to work lures. He caught a bunch more when he was younger and would actually listen lol
haha I bet he was upset about that! I know when me and my buddy go one of use seems to catch a decent amount more then the other, usually me
And yeah I dont muskie fish either, but the fight the put up I may just start lol
I heard about Salt Lake, and a few others I didnt recognize the name of.
And how do we really have no other ohio guys posting? Im beginning to think you only get responses if you're a "cool guy" with 1000+ posts.
awe, don't think that way. I am sure that a conversation about specific lakes or techniques that work well in our little state will spark fellow bucks to chime in
Let me kick one off: with almost no natural lakes or ponds in Ohio other than the big one: which type is more productive in general: the borrow pit ponds, damed up stream lakes, or the raised resivoirs
I have not been lucky enough to fish many of the damed up streams but those seem like they would be very productive and challenging.
I fished and still do fish the other two types a great deal.
I have had about the same luck at the inland lakes and rivers, I want to try some dams out. Thats where I caught that muskie. And there is a lot of natrual lakes around.
I actually never fished the river much until this year and I only did it cause it was close to my work. But after reading up on Technics and then pulling in some smallies I was the one hooked! lol Plus its nice to hike down the river and fish in a bunch of spots.

Greetings fellow Buckeyes! I love the idea for this thread. Thanks for starting it.
I love the dammed up stream lakes the most. Places like Mosquito Lake, West Branch, Milton, Alum Creek, and others are some of the best fisheries outside of Lake Erie that Ohio has to offer.

Yeah, we are gonna make it a point to get a bunch this year. We tryed the cuyahoga today down in brecksville but it was to hot. Just caught a few pan fish and smallies.
without a bass boat I have never bothered to even try fishing any of the damed streams. I had to go to Columbus the other day and passed at least five ranger camanche boats heading either north or south. Most cost more than my second house lol
I would guess its pretty darn hard to learn those bodies from the shores
Anyone near hoover dam or buckeye lake?
Not me: I am up in the flat part of the state. If there were no bills or other places for the coin I would have a big lake grade bass boat. as it stands I want to get into a 17 ish foot aluminum to be able to hit central Ohio and Northern Indiana. Loads of decent lakes that fish much better from a boat than where I am right now
nice view man, seems like you caught some nice fish up there. On 6/18/2013 at 8:41 PM, BASShunterOH said:Had a blast up in Wisconsin, wish I had more time!

It was amazing, I'll be making a full 7 day trip up there late April. I'd love to move there, but who knows.
I'm going to Maine in sept I know that's gonna be amazing!
I'm up by Cleveland, but I drive up to 2 hours for a good days fishing.
What's up fellas? I live near Medina, and fish a lot of local lakes, reservoirs, and a couple of rivers. If I fish a river, it is usually the Rocky River, or the Black River. And of course Lake Erie when I can guilt a buddy who has a boat to take me. I have a kayak, and really like to get into the hard to get spots on heavily pressured public lakes. Lately I've been fishing on Coe, and Wallace lake in Berea. They are both good if you can get away from the bank, just due to a lot of pressure there. Spencer Lake is also fun when I am aloud to get out there. I actually stopped fishing for about 2 years, and recently got the bug again.
Bass Hunter, Where in Maine are you going? I went up to a lake that locals called Big Pond, and East Pond near Oakland Maine a few years ago, and absolutely murdered the Smallies up there.
Good luck to all, and Michigan Still Sucks!
We are going up to rangley Maine, it's part of our time share.
And I haven't tried the black river yet. Only the rocky and cuyahoga, but love Lake Erie. You are not to far from me. What good lake you have down south of you? I hear good things about a place called Knox lake. Wallace we have caught a few this year. But haven't tried out Coe, although we have been meaning too.
Anyone make it out these last few days?
Weathers cool, some light rain. Should be good conditions right? I may try tonight
I took my son to a local res that I don't hit too often but it was his idea. he is not the most patient boy and so after an hour without a bite we were loading up
it was too early in the day for that place. water is so clear there and the fish spook near shore very easily. A couple hours later may have been a much different story
I was thinking of hitting Castalia ponds but wanted to hear some input on how other guys might deal with the heavy rain we have gotten her (about 8 inches in he last few days) and the temps swining up and down (80's to 60's)
Yeah weathers been nuts! I've read rains been a good thing but not in a down pour. Haven't done much fishing in rain. I do want to start tho.
I went to a lake in Brunswick that people told me there were no fish in. I saw about a hundred ducks chilling all around the lake, and new there would be fish there. I only brought one rod with a green pumpkin Mann's stone jig with no trailer with me, as I had and errand to run and new I could fish for about an hour. I started casting over cat tails, and aiming for logs in the water, and caught a couple nice ones. Then yesterday I took the yak out to Coe lake, and was fishing off a pile of rocks, and caught a fat 3lb-er. I like fishing in the rain, as long as the winds aren't too strong. Yesterday I went out to specifically practice my jig fishing. I saw fish jumping all around me, but couldn't get them to hit a buzz bait. I switched to a wacky rig, and caught enough to make my trip out worth while.
I really wanna try Coe, maybe I'll hit it up n
Made a bad choice in tryin to go to Coe lake this am. Ended up hitting the river and Wallace. Not a hit of coarse. I regretted going the second I got there. Way to many people around.
I just couldn't pass up the low 70's weather. Maybe next time$

I live about 5 minutes away from Alum Creek and have been fishing all year... Caught a few here and there but haven't been able to really get on them and catch a bunch.. I was just curious to see how your luck had been and how you have been fishing it. Thanks!

Maine has some awesome smallie lakes. And you don't catch small Cuyahoga River smallies you catch Lake Erie sized ones. I fish this lake in Boothbay I don't even know the name of. Nobody fishes it. 100 fish days are common. I have also fished the lakes in Acadia and have slammed the smallies, too.
Oh man, I can't wait! I just hope winter don't start to early! lol
You do any fishing in the rangley area? Ill probably be able to go out two days.

Also any hints to fishing in this heat? I don't have a boat yet so getting to the deeper waters is difficult. I guess just sun rise/set and night fishing right?
there will always be some bass that do not go deep: look for over-hangs and thick mats that you can punch through. also consider a bit of after dark fishing as there are times the big boys will sneak back to the shallows as the water cools just a bit. I don't get a chance to do the after dark stuff too often but surface popping types worked for me
I am heading out tomorrow afternoon/ evening depending on how big the to-do list is. We were hit pretty hard by the storms and have clean up to do yet and I have to try to float my mower through the yard before lions start moving into the tall areas LOL never had so much water this late in the summer
I fished over in Angola In last weekend but stayed close to shore as the winds were pretty bad and boat traffic very heavy: got a few micro sized fish but nothing I would mention in public
Basshunter, I have not fished near Rangley, but from my experience, most of the lakes in Maine are similar. They are pretty clear, and have rocky bottoms. You'll find largemouth near the weeds, and smallmouth in the deeper parts near rocks or rip rap. The beauty of many of these lakes (at least the ones I have fished) is the lack of pressure. No matter what I throw seems to work. The water temp is cooler than here in Ohio, and you'll find the sun rises and sets earlier as well. I have had better luck with topwater with LM than SM.
Hey guys, I'm fishing out of Southwest Ohio. I consider Rocky Fork Lake to be my home lake. I make it out to Paint Creek every now and then..Paint creek is literally a 5 minute drive from Rocky Fork. I prefer Rocky Fork, which has seen some good numbers and sizes in LM Bass lately, though I worry that all this fishing pressure from constant tournaments may slow things down. I also have a .5 acre give or take pond about 5 minutes away from both of the aforementioned lakes.
I see some of you are familiar with Alum..I may try that out soon.
Has anyone ever heard of/fished the AEP lakes/ponds in central Ohio? I hear they are great, especially the ones off the beaten path that see next to no fishing pressure.
I usually make several weekend trips a year to multiple lakes in Tennessee (Dale Hollow, Norris, Douglas Lake) and have a little experience on some Kentucky lakes too (Harringtion, Northern Dale Hollow). I never have headed north for fishing, but would like to change that soon.
Archman Now Im extra excited to get to maine! I hope to get a nice PB! I will have plenty of pics tho.
And Dave, I hear that. I have been to worn out to fish in this heat. once it cools a little like high of 80 Ill get back out. But right now I have to hang out in the AC!

I live around the corner from Coe & Wallace. I never have any luck at Coe lake, and don't think there's much in there. The water is filthy!
At Wallace I do okay when bass fishing, but only with senkos. If you are up for trekking through the western wooded side of Wallace you will have more luck as it is not fished as much as the eastside of the lake.
Overall, Wallace is really good for catfish and trout as they stock it pretty regularly.

Sorry, it took so long to reply. I haven't been to Alum this year, but last year I did pretty good with a copper and white War Eagle spinner blade and a KVD squarebill crankbait.
I've been trying to get down there because I heard that Cabelas had release 2 fish with a special tag on that win a cash prize if turned in.
If you're looking for some good smallmouth fishing from shore make it out to the New London reservoir. All but a very small section of it has shore access, and you don't have to worry too much about boaters because its electric motor only. The people who are out on a boat are usually fishing for Walleye, and not bass, too.
Oberlin Reservoir is also a good place, but because the water is continually being pumped in from the Black River (I think) the type of fish is always changing. I've have some really good days pulling in crappie in the spring.
Another great spot for anyone who is shore bound is the North Reservoir of the Portage Lakes, and it is only about 5 minutes from Land Bigfish...perhaps my new favorite tackle shop.
Tight lines, fellas. Gotta go get ready for my tournament tomorrow on Mosquito Lake!!!
I'll try those spots!
Yesterday we went to Findley lake and fished for awhile. Nothing big just some small largemouth and some cats and the mixed in blue gill.
Still was awesome weather to go relax and enjoy my Sunday.
It was some tough fishing yesterday at Mosquito Lake. It took me 8 hours to figure out a pattern, and finished in the back end of the event with only 1 keeper @ 1.17lbs.
I've got my last club tournament on August 11th out of Edgewater State Park. I'm looking forward to dragging tubes for bronzebacks.
Literally just got a text from my buddy about going to Mogadore this weekend.
Nice little lake for a peaceful day trip, and you can rent a electric Jon boat for day - $65. I really like this lake as it has a great mixture of areas to fish. SE corner is full of lily pads, and is great for frogging. There's a lot of shoreline for pitching wood, and there a great area between two islands that is perfect for crankbaits.
The perch fishing is supposed to be fantastic to as most people I run by are there for that.
I'll let you know how it was.
Sounds sweet!
Edge water is a good area for smallies. I get rocks out of there too. I head east a little to whiskey island that's in the same little area and fish of the rocks. That's probably my next spot to go. I always seem toget something decent there.

We're not limited to the Cleveland harbor, and we may make a run to Vermillion after we fish the reefs made from the old Browns stadium.
The Medina Reservoir was awesome yesterday. I was in the middle of the lake with a weedless spoon, and must have found a school by accident. I even caught a couple Walleyes, which were delicious. Then after work, I went to Coe, and caught a couple decent sized ones shallow and by bridge pylons.
I have been having luck when it's overcast out, dropshotting a Zoom fluke in translucent pearl with blue flake.
I haven't been out in a while
I just had my club tournament out of Edgewater on Sunday, and it was a tough day. I only caught sheephead and rock bass. Nobody else had a great day either. Tough day on the big lake.
Hello All,
So these temperature swings are putting my fish in a seriously funky mood. Even my Senko bite is off. Water visibility was only a few inches on sunday. Bought some senkos and trick worms in blk to increase the silouet effect. Sound familiar, and what kind of changes have you made?
rough day at Resthaven: I saw a few fish but could not get a single bite
went with a senko type worm for half the evening and chatter baits the rest. so slow and fast and nothing either way
wish I knew what change to have made I figured with the very cold nights (upper 40's to low 50's) here that slow but big might be the ticket but nothing
the faster chatter bait caused a couple of fish to turn around but that is the most they were willing to do
ideas
went perching on Sunday out to Rattlesnake: we limited out pretty quick and tried for Walleye but could not connect with any
still eating those tastey critters @!!!
If any of you can get out on Lake Erie, specifically Avon point, the smallies are biting. They're good sized, too. We were pulling in 4# fish on average.
Tight lines.
I love this time of year! It seems like the fish are throwing themselves at the opportunity to bite my hook!
How are you all doing?
I have been on the big lake perch fishing for the past few weekends but my luck ran out in finding a ride out
I just bought a new to me bass tendor 10' boat which is super nice and I was lucky enough to get a killer deal on
anyway i will be heading out somewhere with it this weekend to do some bass fishing and to scout out a possible location to set up a high school tourn. for some of my students
I was thinking of a two level deal with a shore fishing level and a jon boats group too two man teams where the land guys have to stay within so many feet of each other and take pics rather than keeping bass for a weigh in finally
with no prize money etc I hope that will kill the urge to cheat that formate as much as possible
Fished rocky fork yesterday with the nice 80 degree weather.. I fished from 4-9 pm with no luck. It didn't help that there was a huge tourney just wrapping up when I got there. Rocky fork is a 1,9xx acre lake here in southeast Ohio for those who don't know.. I fished last week and could only pull two off a submerged log with a white trick worm, weightless. Water temp was about 73 degrees. Yesterday I spent most of my time on a spinnerbait, trick worm, tube, and spook.
Ohio bass are hot: get on the jerk baits especially after today's rains. I will be out on Friday for sure
Hi guys,
just stumbled on this thread. I am from Toledo. I was just wondering if anyone new of some good lakes over here in the West. I fish Oxbow lake (Defiance). I have never left that lake without hitting 10-20 bass and they are all usually 2-4lbers. I also like Harrison lake (Wauseon) but it is very hit and miss when fishing from, shore. Ohio Dave, your right the lakes in Castalia has good fishing. I assume you fish pond #8 have you tried #6 or #11 those ponds are kayak only waters and have nice size bass in them as well? After reading this I am planning a weekend trip to Akron area this spring to fish Magadore and Portage lakes. But if anybody has info on good shore fishing for either largies or smallies in the northwest besides Erie I would love to hear about it.
Newbie here and a Buckeye also, I live west of Cincy (far sw corner), there are good lakes for large mouth down here and most creeks and small rivers hold nice smb. East Fork, Rocky Fork, Ceasers creek to the east of Cincy Brookville lake 20mins into Indiana. I have a very Small creek that runs through my property, we catch smb, cats Bl gils and pumpkin seeds on a regular basis, actually one July day this past year I caught a 16"smb 2 13" and a 14" Channel cat all on a small bass tube. I will say I seem to catch the biggest LMB in local farm ponds verses the popular lakes.
I live in the central ohio area during the summer and winter. East of Columbus and close to buckeye lake! I mostly fish local ponds and streams but would love to be able to get over to buckeye lake or alum creek every once in awhile to try my hand at it!
Just curious..we may have to relocate to Cincinnati area..have not heard good things about the fishing there..can anybody give me the scoop about it>?
You can rent a jonboat at Mogadore for the day for $60 - with trolling motor. On 12/17/2013 at 12:36 AM, Chance Brown said:Hi guys,

Check out the northern reservoir of Portage lakes. The army Corp of engineers have a facility on Meyers Island and it has a walking path around the island. One side of the path is a murky channel and the other side is wide open water. And a bonus is that you are less than 1 mile from land.
big.
fish.

Alum Creek is a great fishery!
I am from the lancaster area. we only have some small lakes around here. usually fish hargus & rockmill, occasionaly fish deer creek. other than that its just local ponds. Havent had the chance to get out yet this year though.

Tanners Creek on the river can be awesome fishing. Tons of water to fish. You can run 26 miles to Big Bone on the KY side if you like. Been a few years since I fished it but I like that pool.
Anybody know anything about Rushcreek's 10H.P limit? Rushcreek is about 10 miles east of Somerset in Perry County. Got a 150 Mercury on the back of my boat and I have no clue if I can drop my engine and just idle instead of killing my battery trolling to get half way across the lake

Buckeye and Alum Creek are both great fisheries. Burr Oak near Glouster, OH is arguably one of the best lakes in the southeastern area. Especially in the spring and fall! Also if you are from central Ohio area try Griggs Reservoir and/or O'Shanassey Reservoir both have a great population of large and small mouth bass.
Hey guys, new to the forum and living in central Ohio. Fishing at Rocky Fork next month in my first tournament. Anyone fish there often? Any thoughts/advice on the lake?
Welcome Leon, I live up in the flat part and don't get that way too often I would guess though that the bass will be on the move this weekend if there is ice out and some sun gets to the water

I was going to fish this tourney too but cannot. I have never fished there so i have no advice but i would def try to throw anything resembling a craw... that what works a little more north in lakes n ponds around dayton. good luck
if your close enough Cowen has wednesday night tourneys starting 4/9.

Rocky Fork is a creature of it own. the fish you catch will either be 1.5 lbs or 6+ there never seems to be a middle. on the south side of the lake find the creek channel, there is a spot where it swings real close to a rock/sand/shell shoreline right off a point. on the other side of the point there is a bay/flat that is a Bluegill spawning bed. where that creek channle runs up forms a ledge/drop-off. goes from 3' to 7' then dumps to 17'. bounce a jig headed grub or a 7 inch work off the edge and just let it drop, and hold on.
other tthan that spot early on about where the no wake zone starts on the West end of the lake, along the South side there is a submerged stump field. thouroghly drag the area with a Carolina rig using a 6" Gator lizard, or a big 4.5' Food chain tube from Powerteam Lures. This is where all the 6+ pound fish get landed almost every year.
I caught my PB at Rocky Fork 7.65 off the ledge, she would have been bigger but i caught her in October. If you want me to make some maps for you to give you an idea of where i'm talking about I can just PM me or email me. good luck.

Fishnimpossible, Thanks for the advice! I will keep all that in mind. I will only be the co-angler so i will probably have to yield to my boater for locations, but I will definitely take your advice to heart.
Thanks!
Hi Guy's,
I am new to the site and was trying to find where i could post information about the Great Lakes largemouth Series. I seen a page that listed them when i did a Google search and now i cant find it on the site. I am sure it is hear. Please help.
Anyway's, The Great Lakes Largemouth Series operates 30 events and a Championship that everyone can qualify. We have 5 divisions, Central Erie in West Harbor, Toldeo, Detroit River/ Lake St Clair, Mentor Lagoons and Presque Isle Bay, PA.
Your team only has to fish 4 events through-out the 30 events and you automatically qualify for the championship. There is a minimum of $5,000 guaranteed to the winners at the championship.
I will attach a press release and schedule.
Please remove or move this to the appropriate spot and let me know so i do it correctly in the future.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks,
David H

If you were my non boater and you told me where you know there were 6 plus pounders caught every year. I would at least go check it out.

At Indian Lake a 6.22 is a monster. I was at Clearfork ( my home lake ) yesterday and caught one over six but that's not unusual for that lake any time of year.

Indains my stomping ground, best I have caught out of there is 6.55..Have seen a few low 7's though. the fish are bigger at Rocky Fork.
I wish I had a boat to hit theses bigger lakes. I just went to AEP for the first time in 7 or 8 years. I caught 4 or 5 but they were all under 2 lbs.

Mike, your profile says you are in Georgia, did you recently move to Ohio? I have never been to the AEP lakes, but have heard stories about monsters getting pulled out of there. I'm gonna try and get out there this summer.
I don't have a boat, that's why I joined a club this year so that I can get out on those lakes and maybe win some $$.

I'm originally from Ohio, I'm currently stationed in Georgia and I'm just up here on leave. I went to a couple different ponds and fished out of a kayak. It wasn't too bad, but with it snowing today I don't know what to think haha.
Hey guys. How's the fishing in NE Ohio? I'll probably be moving there (Solon) around the beginning of June. I don't have a boat so I know I'll be limited in my options. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Even without a boat there's many good places for fishing. The Chagrin River section of the metroparks is good. The Portage lakes system is also a good fishery with adequate shoreline access. Even Lake Erie can be fished with good success from shore.
Welcome to Ohio, and more specifically the Cleveland area.
Today's my first tournament of the year. Fishing at West Branch State Park today, and the nerves are in full effect. LOL.
Hopefully, I'll be back later today with some good news.
Tight lines everyone.
Rough day at West Branch State Park today. Only got 2 bites all day, and one was a white bass that doesn't count. Finished with 1 fish, weighed 0.98lbs.
My boater got nothing, so that was about the only victory for me today.

Thanks for the welcome and the info.
Spent the day out in Port Clinton fishing off the pier where the Jet Express leaves from and had a phenomenal day. I lost count after my 20th fish. Mostly LMB, but I did get a few smallies, a black crappie, and a massive sheephead.
The water temps were around 53,and everything was working. Spinnerbait, rattle traps, crankbaits, and swim jigs.
I'm still in shock about the amazing day I had.
5fish, how often you go to Port Clinton? I do my cat fishing up there and bass fish sometimes. Never had that good of luck with largemouth but kill the white bass after the cats are done running. I'll be up there Saturday evening hopefully slaying the cats.

I visit Port Clinton once a year. I always do well, but never like this. All of last week - regardless of the body of water - I was whacking them.
This past weekend I fished the TBF regional tournament at West Branch & Milton and everyone was surprised by the number of fish caught.
I've got a club tournament at Berlin this coming Sunday, and am hoping that the bite is still going strong.
It's been awhile since any posts! How was the fishing for everyone?
I had a pretty good year, especially out on Lake Erie going after the brown fish.
Any one been out yet this year. I haven't been able to yet
Not yet, but I will in a few days.
I plan on going out soon, but I live in the southern part of the state. Itching to try out some of my new tackle that keeps coming in.
