Two down, one (maybe more) to go this year. If we have one later, we can call it the Frostbite Gathering.
We've settled on the location, Webster Lake (Lake Chaubunagungamog or Manchaugagog) in Webster, MA. Time to be determined by consensus. It will be in October. The sooner the better. The days are getting shorter, and cooler.
So, keeping that in mind, let's hear it from all to pick the date.
I can not do the weekend of October 15th...I'm down for the 8th or even as early as the first.
its also 1.5 hours away from me.... sigh...
It's about an hour and ten minutes for me. I take 195 to Providence, get onto 95 north for a couple of miles to 146 north. Went there a couple of weeks ago so that time is accurate. Grundle get the other non-boaters to hook up in a car pool. Chances are you'll be taking 495, and could probably beg a ride from Tate or Gramps. Both are just a short jog off 495.
Are there any Boaters out there who want to join? We won't leave non-boaters on the beach but we sure could use more boats. Anyone? Anyone? The only thing we ask is that you fulfill any commitment you make. Who knows...you might learn something...I know that I have...C'mon jump in...the water's fine.
Grampa
I live at the intersection of 495/109/16 in Milford and Grampa is only a couple miles away also. Rt 16 runs from Milford right to Webster so anyone that wants to ride with us is more than welcome and encouraged to do so. We'll be making the trip either way so if you can get to my house you can park there and ride with one of us.
Tate
All right! Who's in? Maybe the final get together for this season. Don't miss out. We've been going to Webster, and tutored by Gramps so Tate and I should be able to put you on some fish.
Nice lake. Plenty of structure and vegetation. The fishing hasn't been bad either.
Chime in. We've got one vote for the first weekend in October, which is only eight days away. Gramp and Tate fished Webster yesterday, and Gramp and I will do it one day next week.
Don't be shy. No one will be stuck on the shore.
If anyone has room on their boat, I'd like to join in, if not, good luck out there folks.
Jig. You are going. No question about it. If that means I have to give up my spot, so be it.
First come, first served. Jig and Grundle are in. Room for two more.
I can fish three from my boat, two on the bow, and one on the stern.
Please nail down a date soon. I need to make arrangements to have someone cover my shift if this outing lands on a Saturday.
Time to vote Oct 8...Oct 15...Oct 22...Oct 29
My vote is Oct 22...but flexible...
Grampa
oct 22 sign me up
Not many i cant do but I can't do the 22nd .... I'm good with the 7th or 14th How about the 7th? That is this coming Saturday...not sure if that is enough lead time for everyone though?
Tate
I actually have next Saturday off...With a short notice, I just gotta work on the political domestic logistics...
My plans have changed so this Saturday is available.....unfortunately Sunday and next Saaturday are both out for me though.
If it's gonna be this Saturday then we need to decide quickly...If not then my next day is Oct 15.
Think I might also be avail this saturday
I say do it.
I'm up for this Saturday.
I think Jigfishn said he already had this weekend off and was looking for domestic executive approval so perhaps he can confirm?
Lets hear from the others.

I posted right after I read this and I never looked at the calender, this coming Saturday is the 1st and I have off. I'm working the 7th, but if you want to make it the 1st I'm still in if not I have to switchout for the following weekend which is the 7th.
EDIT: The 7th is a Friday and the 14th is the following Friday. so it's the 1st, 8th, or 15th for Saturday's
Still need a few others to let us know if this Sat Oct 1 will work (Webster Lake); Also it would be great to see some new faces?
Grampa can make it
Jigfishn can make it
Tate can make it
Grundle thinks he can make it
Yes! This Saturday is perfect. I was hoping it would be sooner rather than later. Weather looks good at this point as well but of course that could change. Believe it or not I have caught more than 1 fish at that lake before.
How about it Rhino...You in for this Saturday?
Saturday's weather. Partly cloudy. High temp sixty degrees. Looks like a go to me. Grundle and Jigfishn are in. Anyone else? Jones? Bumpkin?
To repeat. Three can fish from my boat. Two of us from the bow, one from the stern. We can accomodate four non-boaters.

What time? Seven o'clock at the ramp?
I just cleared the domestic logistics hurdle. I'm in and who should I meet in the morning?
Contact Grundle. He and Jones are also coming. You should be able to hook up with them for the ride to Gramps and/or Tate for the ride to the Lake.
Sounds good...I ready to fish now...LOL
The bite has been slow, so I hope we get lightning in a bottle this weekend and have some nice fish caught.

With the exception of Rhino we can all meet at the Home Depot right at the 495 Bellingham exit. If we leave HD at 6:00 we can meet Rhino at the Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (Webster Lake) town ramp at 6:30-6:45. There will be room for all in either Grampa's or my truck and you guys can leave your vehicles at Home Depot. All set for a little grub and chat after, no need to bring anything other than yourselves and gear.
Looking forward to another fun day.
Tate
Busses leave 6am from Home Depot Parking lot in Bellingham...Memorial Beach boat ramp around 630-645.
Grundle call me sometime this week we can ride if you want. Jigfishin where are you from? We'll be coming up 495N from 24

Should we bring food this time as well?
No need for addition grub or drink if you're ok with a few barkers & burgers.

I'll hit 495 from 95 in Canton. I'LL Meet you all at Homer D. Po's house.
Hopefully the bite will be as good as it was this afternoon. They were fairly shallow and liking the SK finesse football jig.
The weather forecast is for showers on Saturday. Too early for the hour by hour, details forecast, which includes the wind. Should be updated to include Saturday tomorrow afternoon or evening.
Will update so all can bring whatever you need to stay warm and dry. High temps for Saturday are in the low sixties, but it won't be that warm at seven in the morning, so plan on wearing layers.

Could be a tough bite...I'm coming armed with a c-rig just in case.
UGH i really hope the weather is good. Im so sick of fishing wind.
Here's the forecast. Looks like a great fishing day to me, not to mention that it will keep a lot of recreational boaters on the beach.
Bring your foul weather gear. Not much wind, but showers. Temps starting at 56 rising to the mid 60s by noon.

I love it! Perfect for a weekend fishing day on Webster.
tate
Everybody ready?.....Any questions?
I'm ready, I refilled my wacky rig reel. Danged pickerel.
Rain? Really? Ugh....i legit have 0 rain gear.
I have a second set on board. I think Gramps and maybe Tate have second sets as well. How 'bout you Jones and Jigfishn. You all set with foul weather gear?
Is that the "Gorton's Fisherman" advertising their new "Pickerel Sticks"?
And yes I have 2 sets of raingear.
I'll bring another set plus I have two poncho's on-board which are comfortable and work well.

As opposed to the Groton fisherman from Connecticut?
I'm all set. I dont think it will be that bad anyways. See you guys tomorrow
I should be good as well. I agree with Jones, I don't think it'll be that bad.
Is the Home Depot parkig lot on the corner of Rte 109 & Rte 126?

126 is the Bellingham exit ......at top of the 495 northbound ramp turn left on 126 west .... go over 495 and HD will be on the left.
Good day today men! We all caught fish and some very good size ones at that. Grampa walked away with the Multi Specie award boating 7 of them, no surprise there. Grundle straightened that Heron out early with some strong catches first thing this morning and under the watchful eye of the big bird. It was alot of fun fishing with all of you again and trading stories during apres fish. The weather certainly did "dampen" this groups spirit even though at one point grundle was under his poncho like it was a tent. Another good get together for Eastern Mass III, The Saga Continues.
Tate
Yup another good one gentlemen! Had a blast today and learned a bunch from my sherpa. Pickerel were super active and some nice bass were caught too. Thanks again for the great sandwiches as always. Great to meet Jigfishin as well.
Now lets see those pics!
Grampa1114 with a nice one
It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed meeting you all. Thank you all again for your hospitality. I especially want to thank Rhino for letting me fish off his boat. He is truly a gentleman.
I won't be a "gentleman" if you don't post a picture of that bass which was the hog of the get together. Rain dampen our spirits? Not mine. Though that last cloudburst took about three minutes for the bilge pump to remove it all.
Nice to see some good fish were caught, guys. Wet/cloudy conditions can be real productive as I'm sure you all know. What lures were working best today?
This is the best gettogether to date. Excellent company. Well performed guiding by the boaters. A great showing by the non-boaters(good job Jonesie). Another great nosh. All around fine performance by all.....If you missed this event and you really wanted to be there...Chime in anytime...Everyone is welcome.....
Grampa
There was a mix on the lures ...... I caught all of mine on a weighted and unweighted 5'' Watermellon blk/red flake Senko. I was also throwing lipless rattle cranks and some other soft plastics. If I was a betting man I'm thinking the Sluggo's produced. Grundling also produced some nice fish today .... good job Grundle! Glad to have you on-board ...
Tate
I tried 3", 4", and 5" weighted Senkos in black, black w/ blue flake, watermelon red/black flake and pumpkin red flake. All produced fish.
The lighter colors may have also produced fish, but since I didn't try them, who knows?
The biggest fish of the day 4.8 pound largemouth was caught on a tube.
I didn't have a great day as far as catching bass, I know of at least 5 I swung and missed on with one being a really nice fish I missed on 2 consecutive casts. My hit to miss ratio was worst than Carl Crawford's for the Sox. I finally broke the ice with "Old Faithful" and walked the dog for my first of the day about mid-way thru the outing a healthy 1-1.25 lber. Not big, but satisfying to say the least.
Towards the end of the outing I went back to the tube I missed all my fish on, a Yum F2ube in virgo red. It was the only one working for me with the exception of the topwater: Here's the results of what was turning out to be stupidity for not switching it up earlier to persistance/determination that this tube was gonna work:
The majority my bites came on c-rig as we focused on structure off the bank for a good part of the day and this 4.8 lber was on a t-rig right up against the bank of an island. If I recall, this bank really had no shallow area to speak of, but had a nice drop-off. I also recall that the fish was located near or under overhanging branches.
Well...with us...8 bass and many very large pickerel...oh yeah....perch,bluegill,red eared sunfish, green sunfish along with large and smallmouth bass...and the big bass was 4.2...more important than what were throwing, was where we threw stuff.....we were aiming at the windy side of barren dropoffs from 3-4' into 6-8' of weeds...that was our key. We were also throwing 4-5" center weighted dark Sinkos, alewife colored Sluggos and Finess Fish were also producing.
Grampa
So it sounds like the plastics were working pretty well. Good job guys.
I took last week off and did get some time in the canoe, all early mornings. Tues was Carpenter Reservoir in Northbridge (good day), Wed at Meadow Pond in Northbridge (unbelievable action, as always at that spot), Thurs was Whitehall with minimal takers on the end of my line, and Friday I basically took the shnozz at Singletary in Millbury (only two perch - one on a double tail hula grub and the other on a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait, of all things). There are no boat ramps at Carpenter or Meadow. The bow of my canoe is always available if anyone's ever interested. I've got a trolling motor so no paddling is required.
Couldn't go along to Webster on Sat because my kids had sports. Hopefully I can catch up with you guys someday.
Rhino was a fish catching machine on our (his) boat. I lost count on how many he caught. He caught LMB, SMB, pickeral and 1 or 2 bluegill.
It was a lot of fun to be with a bunch of guys you converse with on an internet site. Just being able to put faces to a bunch of guys posting on a fishing thread was a tremendous experience.
I joked with jones that I was going to have to photoshop out my double chin in this picture...so i did..lol
Also. here is my large and in charge pickerel.
ahahahaha that's good stuff. I didn't know you were a blood!
