Anybody interested in having one sometime this summer? Just a thought I had.. Maybe somewhere in Central PA... Raystown, Sayers, etc? Anyone interested let me know and we can try and get something going.. It'd be nice to meet some of the guys here..
Sounds good to me.I enjoyed the one last year.Raystown or Sayers, doesn't matter.
I'd most likely be in.
I will still only have my jon and a 9.9 though, so that makes it a little tough on Raystown.
Depends on the date, but I'd try to be there.
Really, my only "off limits" time would be from July 28-Aug 5.
I will be lounging in St. Lucia. 8-)

Need a wedding photographer?
I think we got the photography taken care of.. her dad and sister are both photographers and her cousin is also taking pictures.. we didnt hire one but we are definitely saving lots of money.
had a good time on raystown last year, i'd be up for another one...... raystown is tough, never been to sayers. lets do it.

I might be into this, if my friend who has a boat is interested
What about Glendale Lake? That might be better for folks with smaller boats. I haven't fished there in years, though.
I heard from a guy I work with that they are going to drain Glendale to do some work on the dam in August. So if we go there it would have to be earlier. What about Canoe Creek?
Sayers i think is a better option.. glendale is more difficult to get to.. and its a 20hp limit.. Sayers isnt much bigger than glendale either
Curwensville is another option. Unlimited HP but small enough for smaller boats. Lake has good numbers of SM and LM. Much less boat traffic on average than Sayers too. There is a launch fee of $5 though.
Yep Cville is another great option.. I really like that lake.. and you're right... it is a lot smaller and less traffic..
Sayers/Bald Eagle SP definitely has a lot of traffic in the summer. I've only fished from shore there once, so I'd still be willing to check that out. I'm up for any place if I can get my friend to go. I'll have to point him to this thread. Never been to Curwensville.
Curwensville is a real nice lake also.Anywhere is ok with me.
I would be fine with Curwensville.. when would be best for everyone? Early (March) or summer?
Curwensville is actually where my picture was taken..
My fiancee is from Curwensville and we go bank fishing there a lot..
We did great up at Curwensville last June. Some of the guys I work with have tournament's up there in March and say it can be tough.I'm in either way.
Yeah it can get tough there but I almost always manage at least a few bites. And sometimes you can really get on them, I've had some great days there.
It is a really neat lake because though it is relatively small it has a lot of different habitat types and different types of areas to fish.
I agree Hot Rod,it is a really neat lake.Do you get over to Black Moshannon at all?
I fish blackie a lot.. I live about 10 minutes from there..
are these lake Hp restricted
Curwensville, Sayers, and Raystown do not have HP restrictions... Glendale is 20hp... Black Moshannon is TM only
I would be interested....as long as it doesn't interfere with the tournament schedule. Raystown, Howard, Glendale, Curwensville would be fine with me.....Glendale is my home water so I prefer there!! But anywhere is fine.
sounds good fishincop.. I'm thinkin it'll be at curwensville... It is small enough that people with small boats dont have a giant lake to work with, the boat traffic isnt too bad, and it is unlimited hp for those who dont have small motors..
Hey JimmyMo,I get over to Black Moshannon several times in a season.Next time I'm going to head over there I'll let you know.Alot of nice bass in that lake, plus I don't think it gets much pressure.Take Care. Joe
Hey Fishincop, did you hear anything about them draining Glendale in August?
sounds good man! let me know when you're heading over.. I wanna go out during the pre spawn.. my friends co worker caught twin 6 pounders out there last summer!
QuoteHey Fishincop, did you hear anything about them draining Glendale in August?
jk.....I have heard a couple times that they are planning on draining it down to fix something. I've asked several people when i've been out tinkering around on the ice. Not a lot of people know much about it though. Im just glad they aren't doing it like a couple years ago and do it early and then have drought conditions and the lake be several feet low all year.
I did like seeing all the structure when the lake was down.....i found some points and things I didn't know existed. Also found a lot of old fishing lures!!!
I don't see them draining it until all the "money maker" pontoons are off the lake.
Fishing cop,the guy I was talking to is big into the sail boats up there. He was mad because August is prime sailing weather. From what he said the only place that will have much water left will be the deep part across from the dam.If I hear anything else I'll let you know.As you said it will be fun to look at all the structure.
Definetely keep me updated. My club has a tournament in August and one in September.....
thanks
A question off the subject but my buddy just asked me....why do they drain Howard (sayers) ever year?

Fairly certain it is for flood control in the spring.
COME ON ICE!!! KEEP MELTING!!
What is everyone's prediction for when it will be gone?

Supposed to be 60 on Friday here.
Can't wait. Still wont be fishable for a while I bet, supposed to get cold again this weekend.
I have to agree with Speed,it will be alittle bit yet.Man I can't wait!!
Usually mid March. I hope to take the boat out by March 12th but March 19 is probably more realistic.
Last year the first couple times out I was "ice breaking" in the mornings though it was just a skim.
Drove around Yellow Creek today in hopes to find some open spots to fish from shore, but absolutely no luck. I figured as much, but had to check it out to be sure!
I can't wait to toss some line!
The bass in my profile picture was caught on March 17th at Raystown....was a little cold in the morning but it was an exciting day!
How is the Ice looking for everyone? I havent been out much lately
If you guys have a fun tournament this year let me know!
Water is still REALLY cold. Been fishing a golf course pond three times. Missed one and BK42 missed one.
That's it so far.
Im up for another trip too... Seems to be a lot more people interested than our first meet up
I'll go anywhere, so I vote for them all! Black Mo. is drained right now isn't it?

I dont think so.. I think some parts of the lake have soft water.. I saw a picture in The Progress of some geese swimming .. You fish blacky much?

Never fished it before. I thought the FBC drained it 3/4 of the way to do some repairs or something? This was at the end of the season though, maybe they are done already.
if you like fishing lily pads, it is the place to go.. theyve shocked it multiple times and there are state record bass in there.. just really hard to get to due to shallow water and tons of pads... its fun to frog fish though... the lake is polluted with pickeral as well..
i think they drained it for bridge repair but the bridge has been done and the water level is fairly normal i think..
Perfect paddling lake then! I love fishing pads and just got some new frogs I need to try. Looks like I'll be hitting that in the summer!
Depending on the date I would be interested and have an open seat in my boat.

How are the water conditions around the area? I haven't been up to Glendale this week to check it out. Im betting that the big rain we got the other day and the two warmer days have put a major hurting on the ice.
Keep me posted!
Most of the lakes near me (Faylor, Walker, Colyer) are almost clear, they are fishable now, just some minor ice in the middle.
The river... not so much, still blown out and dirty!

Still about 80 - 90% ice covered @ Glendale >
this ice needs to be gone.. now!!
Quotethis ice needs to be gone.. now!!
Let's go hit it with torches... :( :D
I called the Bald Eagle State park and they informed me that they are flooded 6ft over normal summer levels!! hopefully by this weekend it will be back down to normal and I will be taking my Procraft out to blow some cobwebs off and hopefully catch a couple female smallies!!
The ice has to go!!! I fished Raystown on March 17 last year and there wasn't any ice at all!!!
Hey JK, how bout that crazy stuff in Tyrone the other day? I was down behind your place recovering that stolen truck.
is there still ice on raystown? i thought it was one of the first ones to thaw
I dunno....I was just assuming there was. If Glendale is still 80% im sure Raystown has a bunch. I'll be checking out Glendale tomorrow. Ill post an update.
Hi fishincop,ya my wife said she got to meet you.I told her that she should have called the house and I would have came out.It turns out that the recip. saw down at the station is mine, they stole it out of my son's Jeep. You guys have your hands full, good luck.
