What about that 9 plus pounder from a couple years ago ?
On my old phone. Funny thing is, the fish in my avitar was an 8-4 I caught the same day as that 9-1.

funny ?
There is nothing funny about that. I would say that is pretty friggin awesome.
Haha. Yeah, it was. Same location, same bait. The big girls were eating perch up in the shallows, so I fed 'em a bluegill swim jig with Watermelon Red Baby Craw, claws dipped in chartreuse. I sorta sight fished the bigger one. Saw her before she saw me, and got my jig to right by her head, and when she saw it, she killed it! Still one of the most insane bass fights I've ever had to date. Thought I broke that 10lb mark up here. Crazy day.

Breaking the 10lb mark in New England sure would be something. I don't know anyone personally who has caught a 10lber in New England. I have heard rumors and such but never any photos or actual evidence. I think I know where there is a good chance at one 10 plus but to catch it.... that is another thing entirely.
Shane you think your going to get a 10lber this year ?
I am going to be trying for one for sure.
I don't know if I'll catch a New England 10 this year, my friend, but for the last 4 years, that is the one fish I'm fishing for. Actually, I'm after the state record of 10 1/2lbs, but either way, it is why I cast each line each time I go. I have several places where I believe a bass that size COULD live in N.H., and my brother in law seems to think he can get me amongst some 10+ fish in Maine. We shall see!
Of course, in the mean time... There's always Texas!!!
Where does you brother in law live ?
I too am trying for the state record. The Maine state record is 11lbs 10oz. That will be a real tough one to beat. It was caught 5 minutes from where I grew up. In the past I know 10 plus pounders have been caught in some of the lakes I fish.
I know there is always Texas but in my opinion its a much bigger accomplishment getting a 10 pounder in Maine or any place in New England then Texas.
In the mean time.... Let see some more pics Shane ! New England bass only.
8-3
8-1
9-1
Lets see some more pics guys !
If I were to take my best guess as to where you could find a big, sloppy largemouth pushing 10 pounds in NH, I would guess in the lamprey river in Durham/Newmarket. The amount of food there is unlimited with the alwive spawn in the spring plus fish and game stocking it multiple times per year with trout. Ive seen pictures of 9's out of there.
Yup, that's a healthy fishery, nhbassin. Some real nice fish in there.
Oh, and mainebass, when we fish in Tx, we are not after 10lbers. 15-20lbs is more the target fish. If I caught an 18 down there, I'd be just as happy as if I caught a 10 here. I'm still looking to land my first teen fish down there, even though I have hooked into 2 that were well up there in the high teens, didn't land either of those fish. I also had a real 10 on my line here in NH (actually think it was over the record, but it's all speculation).

Monsters!
Couple from today. What a nice day it was out there! Lost the biggest fish of the day, a largie in the 4lb class, when she ran behind the boat, and through the running trolling motor. Oh well, still better than ice fishing, or NOT fishing. Got 7 altogether (5 sm, 2 lm), all about the size of the ones in these crappy pics. Sorry! Most were on a drop shot with either a Dream Shot, or a Pearl Rage Grub. The better fish ate the Grub.

Man, Shane J, I may just have to take a day off and meet you and Derrick up in NH one day this spring!
Nice pics Bud!
Thank you, brother, and you are more than welcome! We are planning on ripping more than a few lips this Spring, for sure!
Thanks, hopefully we can meet up one day! Take care my friend.
BTW, thanks for the kind post today in regards to the death in my family, all the support shown was a big help!
Man, I really feel for ya. I also had a recent death in my family, and it's not a fun time. Hang in there, bud.
I am convinced there is a state record in Bow Lake. When I was a young lad we were all swimming off the dam and there was a massive bass stuck in the dam boards that had been picked a bit by birds. Someone weighed it at just under 10 and it was missing quite a bit of meat.

Sorry for your loss and my apologies if you posted and I missed it.
All went as well as can be expected...It's all good....Thank you, that was very kind of you.
Swains Lake in Barrington has some really big bass as well.

That is awesome you were able to get fishing from your boat !
I went ice fishing yesterday. I caught 9 bass all smaller then the bass in your pictures. I also caught some crappie and salmon as well. Getting around on the ice was brutal, snow over my knees and 5 inches of slush... I would much rather be in my boat !

Those are some nice bass Mike !
You forgot one lure in your bait arsenal.... jigs
Yeah, Mike's gonna be all over the jigs this year. And Rage Craws. Right, Mike? He better be, or I'll spank him on his own lake. In a place like that, the bigger fish are going to come on jigs.
On Northwood lake? CHATTER BAITS!!@!@!@
Trust me on that lol.

Well I meant Rage Craws as in jigs haha I just bought a bunch of jigs and Rage Craws. They didn;t have the stanley jigs at BPS, but I ordered them online haha
Haha I got a whole game plan this year gonna be catching the hogs your gonna be seeing me with all the 8lb bass pictures put me up in the bracket with you and Maine haha. Also Shane I have been meaning to ask how much does one of those Rage hats go for the camo ones those are some pretty dirty hats and I would love to have one haha
Here is some pics of my Gramps fish that he caught on Northwood. As you can see he did pretty well for back in the 1970s haha He knew Northwood like the back of his hand I still fish the same spots to this day and we produce well.
Here's some others. I'll try to find some of my uncles big ones on Northwood as well I just found these right now in my dads safe
My grandfather moved to Northwood with my mom/uncle in the late 70s, the very first trip out fishing he caught a 9 pounder in raymond in some random pond. Its on the wall lol.

My Gramps always liked Jeness Pond for some reason he used to fish Northwood and Jenness like it was going out of style. My uncle on the other hand lived in Wolfboro for awhile so he fished Winni a lot, but then moved back to Northwood and fishes there all the time, but they grew up together as kids fishing and hunting so they new all the spots on Northwood better than I ever could.
Jenness pond used to be an amazing spot back when I was little.
Too bad all those fish had to die. I wish the old timers knew what we know today about the preservation of these fish. Northwood is basically fished out for this exact reason.
Northwood's easy to get to spots are fished out.
You ever go back in the meadows to those ponds out there?
You indeed are correct Shane that's why you gotta find the hidden underwater spots which I've basically found by throwing spinnerbaits at any structure I believed to have bass off of land features that working them with Texas rigs. Which I have 2 spots on the lake that are not fished much and pretty secretive.
Yup, that's how you find the big ones. Fish where they live, and most of the time, it's where no one else fishes.

You ever fish right behind the lazy river campground? We used to fish the bend where its close to the road on the back side(before it turns back into the woods) and have pulled a couple of 4 pounders out(and the biggest eel of my life) of there.
There is also a pond near there thats got a couple of good bass(I haven't fished it in like 5 years tho) in it if you had access to a yak or john boat.

That is so true Shane !
Nope, never fished over there, phauren.
Caught this last Tuesday... Its from the east coastish at least
Thats a pretty nice fish man! I have been trying for the last 2 weeks to catch a huge lunker (hes at least 10 lbs) from this farm pond near me. An old timer has been letting me fish the farm pond since I shoveled his driveway when we got 7 inches randomly(gone in 2 days) and he saw a couple of rods in my suv. He looks at me and hes like would you rather have money or fish my farm pond where I have a couple of big boys. Sure enough he walks me down and its like they are taunting me. I have seen 4 really really big ones but the biggest is cocky and he just sits in plain view. I have tried everything but he refuses to bite.
Dam old man knew how to hustle. It wasn't even fair negotiations.

Holy F******* Smallie. Jesus I wish I could catch a Smallie like that
Those are some impressive smallies.
That 7 lb 13 oz smallmouth my friend caught was just 3 ounces shy of the Maine state record. That bass is still swimming. I am still looking for a smallmouth that is mount worthy. I have had two on but failed to land them. I am looking for one that is over 6 lbs.

I would love to catch a Smallie that size. That be more of an accomplishment than catching an 8 lb Large mouth
An 8 lb largemouth anywhere in New England is quite the accomplishment. Same can be said for a 6 lb smallmouth.
Both are very rare fish.
Anyone on here catch a 6 lb smallmouth in new england ?
I caught a 6lb sm here in Nh, I will search out a pic when Im on my mac.

Best Smallie I caught was a 3.13 lb one I just don't have the pic on my phone I know its on my dad's computer I just can't find it
Here's a pic of Shane I found. It was weird, we were the only 2 on the boat and he was trying to sell me rage stuff...
AW, man, that's funny right there!

Shane I was wondering I don't know if you got my message earlier in the post how much does one of those Rage Craw hats go for the Camo ones I would love to purchase one.
Oh, musta missed it, sorry. Um, I'm not sure, to tell you the truth, but if you go to the Rage Tail page, there's a sticky topic in the Rage Talk forum section for hats and apparel, so you too can be as sexy as me!
Here ya go...

Will be twins when I have my 8lber in my photo and my cool hat
I was going through some old pictures today and found these two of the 8-9 I had mounted. The picture quality is not the best.
Does anyone else have some pics ? Shane ? Deak 6lb smallmouth ? NEjitterbugger ? Mike ? Spyder ?
Lets see some photos guys
this 5.5lber was caught on a 90 degree day last August in a tiny private pond in the Berkshires. 1st cast right off my friends dock.
Nothing special, but this was indeed my favorite day of fishing by far. I don't know why, but I loved Highland Lake so much I wish it was closer I would fish it all the time the whole place reminded me of something similar to my camp. Plus I love it out that way Keene and Antrim and all those places. Thank you Shane for showing me this place.
It is indeed a sweet lake. I've seen 8lbers on beds there. I don't fish for bedding fish, but I know there's bigger in there.

Last time I went I really hit that cove and a lot of the docks, but I would love to hit the deeper parts and some of the submerged stuff see if I can pull a hog.
