Hey guys this is my first time on here. I'm from Rhode Island just wondering if anyone else from RI is on here and were you guys fish. Let me known. Thanks
Hi there. theres alot of guys from RI here. Keep coming around and you will meet them. Im from Cranston and in warmer times fish all over RI and Mass. I live right next to Meshanicut Puddle.
Welcome. I live in Warwick and primarily fish in South County RI.
cool i live in south county and do a lot of fishin down here, although i am about to join a club and start doing some fishin in other areas
I'm in Western Coventry and fish a lot in South County and Connecticut. And being that I'm in Coventry I'm usually on Johnsons or Tiogue 2 or 3 times a week.
Speaking of South County.....

hey guys as a new member from ri i thought i would give this a little bump. im actually in cranston myself in knightsville, was excited to see some other rhode islanders here when i joined!
Foster here. I fish anywhere I can get to boat or shore.
Foster... my old turf.
QuoteFoster... my old turf.
This is a freshwater fishing site... ;D
Oh here we go... Seems I can catch those small green ones too. Went solo the other day.
First cast, high noon
Nabbed 9 all together
Nice dude, the Park has been ON.
Ohhh... the park, the park. LOL. ;D
QuoteFoster... my old turf.
thats about all its good for, fishing in Foster is horrible.
way to go Matt, that between deliveries? hey madfish, post a pig o that hog u slammed the other day..
Monday was a slow day. They cut a ton of routes so I split outta there. Decided to go get some R&R and a little solitude.
My parents moved us to Foster when I was 5, and I got the hell outta there when I was 17. I don't miss it.

Here she is.
beautiful fish!
hey guys. also from RI in coventry. spend most of my time in arcadia during the week(only 15 min away) and try to get somewhere different every weekend. this is a great site. i dont post much but still enjoy reading the forums.
Wow, we are up to a ton of RI guys. We should look to try to do a get together on Johnson's. Centrally located, fishing sucks, but we could make do. Let's pic a date and get going....

I also spend alot of time down there, its decent fishing. Just got to time it right otherwise there is way to many people down there, especially if its a hoiliday.

i'm very glad i found this place. i searched a ton to find some other guys from RI looked and most places i looked were devoid of rhode islanders

i hear ya. week day nights are usually safe. if i go to arcadia during the weekend using a boat or canoe is a must to get away from everyone.
any of you guys ever fish carbuncle? heard it is decent, and it is a nice ride to it for me. was thinking of heading there tomorrow with a buddy to check it out.

I would rather not fish. ;D

I was up there tonight for about 4hours, took 1 bass and missed a couple, pretty much practiced my casting. I have seen some very nice fish taken out of there. The only bad part is that it can get very crowded there.
I spent the first 9 years of my life living on the Pike and the place is just over rated in my book. I refuse to believe the state record came out of there and there are much better places. Like where some people fish in Arcadia. It is perhaps the best pond in the state and there are multiple 10-12 pound fish in there. I have seen one I would say was in that range. And every year there are several 7-9 pound fish taken out of there but everyone keeps it hush hush. I think DEM puts trout in there to secretly grow giant fish like what they do in Cali.
thanks guys, i appreciate the info. i'll let you know how it turns out, if it is just a "casting" outing well, i've got pretty good at those over the years.
i think carbuncle gets to much pressure for its size. i have never had luck bass fishing there. i have caught trout though, trolling some of the deeper water. as far as "where some people fish in Arcadia" i agree, if we are thinking of the same place(my icon photo was taken there) it is my favorite place in ri to fish.

I just about fell out of my chair. ;D

If LBH went down there with his trout or perch swimbaits within a year I think we would have a new state record or so. Or atleast one pushing 10.
I have seen a guy take a 10lb bass out of carbuncle 2 years ago on opening day caught on a trout worm. I only knew this because i threw it on my scale. I agree that it is havily fished though.

Photos? That's only a few oz. off the RI state record.
well I cant argue the fact that the bunk gets swamp'd. Madfish and I have fished it with sucess, we've had good days all small, other days with only a few in the boat. But I will go hats off to "The Bunk" for one good reason. The Kids. My avatar is my 7yr old daughter whom last year singlely landed 7 bass that day all around that size. Other than that.

yeah it was 10lb 2oz I was walking by and asked if he had any luck and he showed me so I threw it on my scale for him. I didnt take any photos. But I tried like hell to convince him to thow it back being pre spawn, but no luck there
There were the guys a few years ago that caught the 15 pound 23 inch fish out of Waterman.Weighed on a Bill Dance scale. It was in the Providence Journal and everything. ;D
There was a video somewhere.... :-/
well, got just 2 little guys today, which is actually become a good day for me. got a picture of one ill post it when i get a chance its good for a laugh.
Carbuncle was very slow today, I picked up 4 nothing special but there were people everywhere, unleashed dogs barking and craping everywhere, screaming and yelling children its turning into the ghetto up there, not to mention all the trash that is scattered around. Give it a few more years and they will probably shut it down like Beach pond. >

That was the best thing to ever happen there. This spring instead of people on the beach and in the water there, the beach was LOADED with smallie beds. ;D
i think i brought this up earlier but is there any URI guys on here? let me know- Mike

;D Where's LBH with the video? I can't find it.
I think the video was removed from the tube. All I remember is "don't forget, you got that old Chevy down there!" ;D ;D ;D
Any of you guys willing to share some advice? I plan on hitting beach pond this weekend with my old man. i'm pretty excited, just moved back up here after 4 plus years and i am looking forward to getting back on the water with him. this will be my first trip to beach pond, well actually on the water. we will be using his 12footer with the old 4 horse johnson. we joke about it, but it sure beats paddling!
Ok you guys want smallies head up to Wallum, AJR and I put about 60 in the boat yesterday lots 1.75-2.5 pound fish and saw a 3+, lots of nice largies too. Really post spawn though, an 18 inch smallie wieghs about a pound and a half. ;D
Give them another month and they will be footballs again.
Thanks Mike i'll be up there on friday...

Fall River here!
Some interesting conversation here,lol.
Carbuncle, eh? I don't know,....lots of much better water nearby.
As for the video,....you mean this one??
NEW RI RECORD
Isn't a Carbuncle some sort of skin lesion?
No Matt, Carbuncles grow on rocks by the ocean and on the undersides of saltwater boats.
Dam hooligans... :
LBH awesome video . Carbuncle is just getting hammered, there is always a ton of people up there and everyone practicly takes home anything they pull out of the water doesnt matter what they catch.
it really is, you guys know of any more quiet little productive ponds like carbuncle where i can take my wife with me she is really taking to going but doesn't really like big bodies of water in my crappy canoe. i have heard some good things about Indian lake down in SK i believe.
Indian is great but always has a good sea breeze and in a canoe can be a little tipsy. I would recommend Curran Res off Seven Mile Rd. in Scituate.
thanks tin. i live close to seven mile road. i recall fishing there years ago with my old man, bout 10 years ago a buddy and mine set out to find the second pond, i believe its called the lower res. we actually bush whacked through endless thorn bushes and endless muck up to our wastes and finally found it. basically the moral of the story is i haven't been there since ive been home and i remember it being kind of trashed and getting a bit dirty. do you or any of you guys know a way into the second pond off seven mile road itself, or is it strictly property access.

Hi guys Dan from RI here.
I just watched the video, may have to change my name to sucka
That's Tin and LBH for ya. I think I snagged that old Chevy yesterday. Either that or it was ol' Stumper....
Tin followed your advice, took the canoe out to seven mile road and by our standards my buddy and i had a good day. caught 7 bass in about 3 hours, all on plastics, and my 4 on mann's jelly worms. i might have had a better time if it wasn't my first time using a bait caster, that was an adventure. mostly little guys i would say only 2 of the bass were over a pound. that place is deeper in spots than i thought it was and man is it looking weed choked in most areas.

It so much fun learning how to use a baitcaster, birdsnests and knots, almost makes you want to throw them away...oh the memories....wait I still hate my baitcasters.

Weedy, wow. I know in the back gets a little clumpy but thats all I find. If I need a relaxing day I will throw a small jig (Strike King Bitsy Flips with a Zoom Jr. Chunk) at all the brush along the dam and boat ramp shore and the rocks along the other side. Artic Cat and I have had some 40 fish days there in a couple hours.
have you found quality fish in there?
2-2.5 and their are few of them. During the spawn that place shows it has them. Just don't know where they go.
Quote2-2.5 and their are few of them. During the spawn that place shows it has them. Just don't know where they go.
that is good to know, was hoping you would say you have pulled some close to 5 out of there but i figured that might be a stretch. the thing that surprised me the most about the place (since it was the first time i had a boat on it) were the high water temps, and even more so the amount of people that showed up around 1pm to swim in the place.

going to be a work in progress for sure, and i did spend most of the day picking out nests and knots. def made me question why i wanted to learn this so bad in the first place. good thing is i was fishing with my buddy who is a rookie so he didn't mind the hassle of it all.
any of you guys been to wordens lately?
Quoteany of you guys been to wordens lately?
Yea...it sucks as usual this time of year. ;D
i haven't been there in 6 or 7 years, but i always thought of worden's as a good place to so some summer froggin?
I love Wordens this time of year.....Pike and bass are out of control in the shallow reeds..
