If you could only use one topwater bait for the next year which one would it be?
I use a Booyeah Pad Crasher Jr. as my go to topwater and have decent luck but I was curious what everyone else's go to is...
I'd fish a fluke weightless, I think it's more versatile,
Pop-R in Bone Orange belly
Wood Lunker Punker, rainbow trout.
Tom
Marty Burns prop bait........
Hands down... LC Gunfish (I fish smallmouth)
oe
Sammy
a buzz bait
StrikeKing Tri-Wing Buzzbait in white.
Xcalibur Zell-Pop
Chug bug
Def the LC Gunfish in ameerican shad!! throw it in boils and dominate!
spook
Rico - Fry pattern
Rage Shad.
1/2oz Yellow Magic in Smoke Shad
Spro popping frog.
You could ask me a million, 1 lure, 1 rod, 1 reel, 1 place to fish, but narrowing down to only 1 topwater....are you crazy?

Nothing can match the BPS XPS TOPNOCKER
There are a lot of different top water lures named here. I'm a spook guys but last week they were hitting on a popper. If I hadn't changed I would have not had a good day. I start with a spook and if they don't want that I change it up.
Heddon Torpedo. End thread.
Alot of nice topwaters mentioned..
but if you really did have only 1 topwater and needed to catch fish in almost all situations on the surface
I'd think you would want a hollow-body frog..
Megabass USA Pony Gabot frog. Second would be the Spro Bronzeye 65.
Strike King Sexy Dawg
~ Koppers Live Target Hollow Body Frog in Black Tan ~
A-Jay
3/8oz black on black Cavitron.
spro frog
superspook with dressed treble
So tough to decide between cavitron buzzbait black on black the spro poppin frog and the h20 walking topwater pencil from academy they've all caught so many fish on all of them

x2
Rebel Jumpin minnow in bone.
Pop R
frog ribbit ribbit
Wow, tough question. It would either be a spro frog, or a jitterbug. I can't make up my mind.
Looking at thread brings up both trends and questions.
The trend is spook type walk the dog lures are ahead in numbers with 16, frogs 2nd with 9, pop-r type poppers with 5, buzzers 3rd with 4, small miscellaneous jump baits and chuggers with 4.
The question is; quality vs quantity thread indicated 5 to 1 preference to catch quality bass, how does this relate to the lures listed are nearly 5 to 1 quantity bass lures?
Don't want to hijack this thread, just an observation.
Tom
Spook Jr. or Puppy or Pop-R. Can't decide.
I like fishing the salad so a frog would be my choice, need to try more brands but spro and kvd's produce and hookup ratio is about the same.
Spro bronzeye 65 frog in killer gill, right now I'm itching to try the new bronzeye shad
Booyah pad crasher since I can throw it in the slop and open water, and work it as fast or slow as necessary. Hard to throw a spook in salad...
Luckycraft Sammy 85, Joe Thomas ms aurora shad. Absolute favorite topwater bait. Close second would be a megabass popx in ggbass color. Third would be a Stanley ribbit or black cavitron.

ive caught 4-8 pounders on buzz baits... also frogs are up there big bass caught in the pads. which both give can give you quantity and quality.. i prefer quality but if Im catching quantity I wont complain...

I used the "Pad Crasher" this year inplace of the Spro Frog brand that I had used for many years. The Booyah worked just as well, but was A LOT more durable. I would choose it if I could use only one topwater bait.
Zell Rowland classic/pro Pop-r's

I've got 2 or 3 of those, a couple in the 100 size too. Great color
Spook
Cavitron 1/4 oz. buzz bait in black, or maybe a Moreau field mouse, come to think about it, I use a Yum houdini shad most of the time. Very hard to choose just one on top , like them all brother.
LC Gunfish in American shad or Jackal Iobee frog in bluegill, depends where Im fishing.

Which ones are considered quality?
sammy 100 in skeets magic has been good to me. (smallies) I like the chartruese belly on it.
Koppers LiveTarget Frog
Death Dealer Bart
Heddon Baby Torpedo in the clear color. So versatile, can be popped, walked, or fished like a buzz bait.
Pad Crasher Jr in Cricket Frog for both numbers and quality, open water and slop and walls and around timber.
Hollow body frog, I don't care what brand, they all work fine.

Thats mostly my experience as well
Megabass x-pod. Simply the most versatile topwater bait I have used.
Sammy 100 or stanley ribbit frog...d**n I dunno lol
Lucky Craft Sammy 115 in MS Am. Shad. Preferable the one in my box with the missing eye, and all the scales worn off.
Based on past results, a black Jitterbug.
Tom
Heddon Tiny Torpedo in the Bullfrog pattern.
Spook
If you are fishing a big bass tournament, for example, the lure of choice would be designed to catch larger bass, not a general use lure designed to catch average size bass, unless you had experience otherwise. On 10/15/2013 at 10:49 AM, John105 said:Which ones are considered quality?
I have caught DD bass on wooden Lunker Punkers, this is a big bass lure. Buzz baits have caught more big bass than the other top water baits listed. All top water lures, like other lures, will catch the occasion quality bass, at the right place and time. I don't consider frogs, spooks or poppers big bas lures, they catch a lot of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lb bass. Didn't see any big wake baits like a Slammer for example.
Tom
I use many of those previously mentioned, but I love to fish a Jitterbug.
heddon baby torpedo.
Bringing this back up. Booyah pad crasher in albino frog for me.
the lucky craft sammy. I started using it last year and it is now my favorite topwater.

Daimiki Dolphin

KVD frog...(or spro frog)...
Mitch
Booyah pad crasher in white. No, in black. No, in white. Um...
Can I have 2?
Megabass Pop max.
These hypothetical situation questions always stump me. I think that's what purgatory must be like- having infinite gear but you can only bring one thing... And you can just never decide.
HMMMM. Live Target Frog in Black and Yellow or a Black Jitterbug.
Top Toad in black... All day every day
Simple -catch more fish on these than any other top water I have ever used PERIOD
2 1/2" Storm Chugbug in Tennessee Shad color.
H2O Pistol minnow, love that thing.
I have one Cavitron that is so loud and nasty I am pretty sure I can hear it now out in the garage. That one.
Torn between a Sammy and a Spro BronzeEye
